  • Ubuntu 10 (Linux) & Firefox 3.6 ~ How to uninstall the Adobe Flash Player plug-in & ActiveX control

    Ubuntu 10.045 (Linux) and Firefox 3.6.3  ~  How to uninstall the Adobe  Flash Player plug-in & ActiveX control
    In general Adobe needs to offer Ubuntu (Linux) support.  I don't use Windows anymore and will go with whatever company provides me the Plug In's I need to function.  In this case at the current time, I can't use Adobe flash Player to view You Tube video's.  I followed the link that helps a user fix the problem:
    Solve a Problem: The video won't play:
    http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?answer=56115
    I then saw that you suggested that I first needed to uninstall any older versions of the Flash Player and then install the latest version of the Flash player.  I clicked on the link find out how to uninstall it here:

    They didn't offer any help with Ubuntu 10.045 (Linux).  Please offer the instructions and automatic (non-terminal) uninstaller.  Also, I want an automatic installer for Ubuntu 10 (Linux) & Firefox 3.6 that is easy like like you have for Windows and like Sun's Java has for Linux.

    You should go to this site to see what versions of Flash Player and Shockwave Player you have installed.
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/
    The versions you are listing (10.0 r12, 10.0 r2) appear to be Shockwave Plauer versions, not Flash Player.
    If you want to uninstall Flash Player, there should be an uninstaller in the install directory.  I do not know where that is on Linux.

  • How does labVIEW use ActiveX controls?

    How does labVIEW use activeX controls?
    I recently wrote an activeX control in VB and noticed that it would not work if the control was set so that its properties could not be set in ambient mode. This may suggest that labVIEW uses some activeX controls only in ambient mode.
    Is this the case or are there more complexities?

    Dan,
    Which version of LabVIEW do you have?
    As per the KnowledgeBase bellow, in versions of LabVIEW prior to 5.1 you would get errors accessing the ambient properties.
    ActiveX Controls in LabVIEW 5.0.1 Containers Cannot Access Ambient Property
    Do your controls use the Ambient.UserMode to determine when the control is being used in a development environment? When embedding ActiveX controls into a container on the front panel, by default, the ActiveX control generates and responds to events, i.e. it is running, even when LabVIEW is in edit mode.
    Right-click an ActiveX container and select Advanced»Design Mode from the shortcut menu to display the container
    in design mode while you edit the VI. In design mode, events are not generated and event procedures do not run. The default mode is run mode, where you interact with the object as a user would.
    Information can be found in the LabVIEW help files

    A team member here found this, I haven't read it, I'm not sure if our problems are related to this, but hopefully it helps someone:

    When Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is enabled, using the ActiveX control to print reports from a Crystal 10 DHTML viewer results in the following error message:
    "A communication error occurred, printing will be stopped."
    How can this error message be resolved?
    Resolution
    This is a known issue with Crystal Reports 10 and Crystal Enterprise 10 viewers and has been tracked. The Track ID is ADAPT00282199.
    This error occurs due to the receiving application performing a case-sensitive check for the HTTPS request header value "ON". When a sender application sends the value as "on" in lower case, the error occurs. The update below changes the receiving application to be case-insensitive.
    Hot Fixes or Service Packs address this issue as indicated below. With the updates, this issue is resolved.
    Unless indicated otherwise, Weekly Hot Fix updates from our FTP site have only been tested with English versions of products.
    For Crystal Reports 10 and Crystal Enterprise 10, the update for this issue is included in the Crystal 10 Viewers Weekly Hot Fix (WHF). This is available in English only at the following location:

  • How can i use activeX Control in labview?

    how can i use activeX Control in labview?
    please describe me step by step.
    thanks.

    Well..that was quite helpful..but now I'm encountering certain problems. I've attached the VI I've made.
    I don't need sound at the moment so I dropped it. (Although I tried to play it..but all I could hear was a very annoying sound.) Secondly I don't want to display any date or time..so i dropped that property too.
    Now when I run this Vi...the webcam turns on, the screen of videocapx pops up..then the webcam light goes off..and another pop up appears saying..labview is not responding..and i have to close it reluctantly.
    I haven't placed the stop capture property in this vi. i checked it by placing it too..but that doesn't work.
    I would like to notify that my actual task is to acquire image and then compare it with another one already present on my pc. I want you to please help me out..solve my first query then I'll proceed with the latter part.

  • Using ActiveX controls in GUI application, which uses TestStand API

    When using ActiveX controls in TestStand Operator Interface GUI,
    CVI reports User Interface Library error no.-143:
    "ActiveX control Error" on attempt to load panel, which contains ActiveX controls.
    The same code, which takes care of user interface, but not references
    TestStand ActiveX API (i.e. not creates TS Engine), works properly.
    What's wrong?

    Hello again Misha,
    Sorry about my previous answer, I overlooked the fact that you were saying this error was caused by placing ActiveX controls in your Operator Interface (OI) GUI (as my example shows I thought the problem was with GUIs displayed from step code modules).
    Nevertheless, the problem is still being caused by the same issue, and is solved in a similar fashion. The source for the CVI OI initializes the TestStand engine before it loads/displays the UI panels. The calls to initialize the engine seem to be CoInitializing the main GUI thread as multithreaded apartment (MTA) mode whereas you will need it to be single threaded apartment (STA) mode in order for the ActiveX control container to work properly. The TestStand engine is compatible with either modes, but only one can be in place at a given time. If we CoInitialize the OI's main GUI thread as STA this will solve the problem (the subsequent attempts of setting it to MTA will fail, but again this is ok since the engine is compatible with STA).
    In order to perform this functionality you will need to put a call to CoInitializeEx in the main function of the CVI OI source (this will also require that you #include the "windows.h" file at the top of the source also). Here is what the main function in your main.c file for the CVI OI will look like once you have done this:
    int main(int argc, char **argv)
    int retval = -1;
    sArgc = argc;
    sArgv = argv;
    if(InitCVIRTE(0, argv, 0) == 0) /* Initialize CVI libraries */
    goto Done; /* out of memory */
    // Intialize main GUI thread as STA to prevent other attempt to make it
    // MTA, which will not allow ActiveX controls to be used.
    CoInitializeEx(NULL, COINIT_APARTMENTTHREADED);
    /* initialize the test engine */
    if(!InitEngine())
    goto Done;
    if(!InitErrorDialogStrings())
    goto Done;
    if(!InStandaloneExecutable() && !DisplayRunningInEnvironmentWarning())
    goto Done; // get out now
    if(!ProcessPreLoginCmdlineArgs())
    goto Done;
    if(!CfgFile_Load())
    goto Done;
    if(!CfgFile_RestoreOptionSettings())
    goto Done;
    if(LoadGUIPanels() < 0)
    goto Done;
    if(!InitFileQuickList())
    goto Done;
    /* set initial gui state */
    if(!InitGUI())
    goto Done;
    RunUserInterface();
    retval = 0; /* normal exist status */
    Done:
    /* cleanup */
    SeqFileList_DeleteAllSequenceFileRecords();
    ExeList_DeleteAllRecords();
    IconList_DeleteIconList();
    SaveAndCleanupFileQuickList();
    CfgFile_SaveOptionSettings();
    CfgFile_WriteAndCleanupForExit();
    AdaptList_DeleteAdapterList();
    DestroyToolMenus();
    CloseEngine();
    FreeErrorDialogStrings();
    return retval;
    Note: Remember to #include "windows.h" at the very top of the main.c file and to include ole32.lib in your project file list in order to link in the definition for CoInitializeEx.

  • Embedding Flash in HTML using Dreamweaver - stopped working

    Hi all, not really sure what's going on, but I've done this many times before and it's worked fine.
    I've previously embedding Flash videos I've created in Premiere and/or converted using other software.  I simply drag and drop the Flash file where I want it and then adjust layout using code/design etc and that's it, job done.  It's always played back fine.
    Now for some reason I've tried doing it again this morning and can't figure it out.  When I preview the file it doesn't even show the video, but instead displays all the icons for the controls at once in a grid where the video is meant to be.  I've tried in IE, Firefox and Chrome, updated drivers, windows, Adobe, Flash etc all to no avail.
    I've even tried doing it in a blank HTML page in case some of the template I might have been using was interfering for some strange reason; still no luck.  What's even stranger is that a site I created last year is also now not displaying Flash (FLV) content locally, but is working fine on the server.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    (CS5 Dw:V11 build 4993, Win7 64bit SP1)
    I've pasted the code from the blank HTML page.  It's probably something really simple that I've not noticed:

    Im' having a VERY similar problem with a few estra 'happy' moments. I have a blog (WP). On this simple and VERY basic blog (with almost NO plug ins) I have attempted to embed FLV videos with CS$ Dreamweaver code.
    (This code is different in CS$ than it was in earlier versions as it now calls to the FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf as the player and uses Flashvars to pass the value of the FLV. PReviously, it was four simple lines of code that pointed directly to the SWF)
    Here was my process - I encoded the files with AE and Media Encoder to end up with Transparent FLV's. These, I then setup in Dreamweaver so I could copy the embed code. On my first attempt, it worked PERFECTLY. I was testing one particular flv, got the code and inserted it into the blog page with some special CSS to position it.
    The movie played perfectly.
    Then things got weird.
    I was excited I had a solution, so I went to put another video on another page. No luck. The second page was playing the video from the first page. As if I had copied the same code, but I hadn't. I copied code that was 'pointing' to the new file, but for whatever reason, the new file would not play.
    I did EVERYTHING. I deleted all the pages and strted fresh. I deleted the FLV's and reuploaded them. I created different folders and put each flv in it and created index.html files for each (assuming possibly there was a hardcoded element in the FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf). I copied and pasted back and forth for nearly 6 hours.
    Nothing. Each time I would copy and paste code into a blog page, it would simply pull the original video.
    THEN....things got worse.
    I pulled one video off of the server, and now NONE work. I can't get ANY videos to play. Worse, I still have the 'express install' link showing.
    Ok, so here is what I am trying to figure out;
    Does the NEW DW CS4 code somehow have control over the file that is called? Further, HOW can I get more than one FLV to play across a whole blog site.
    Here is a link to one of the pages that HAS code but is calling NOTHING. And please know that I have left copies of the necessary files ALL over the server. So they are in the root, in the 'files' folder, in the talent folder and everywhere.
    Is there a conflict flash hits when there are multiple FLV's being called? Is there a way to do this? Please help....
    Thank you

  • Can you use ActiveX controls in PL/SQL?

    I am trying to find a way to start email from within a database trigger. Someone told me I could use an ActiveX Control (custom made by a colleague). Although I have never worked with ActiveX or OLE, I know that it is possible to use them in Forms. Is is also possible to call an ActiveX in PL/SQL? How? And if it is impossible, could someone tell me another way to start email (the application is to be implemented in a Windows NT Network).
    Lots of thanks for any answer or advice,

    Joen,
    I am not totally sure what you mean when you say 'start email', but you should check out the utl_smpt packages in the database. They can be used to send email messages from the database. I believe that you need to have an email server (like sendmail) running on the machine for these to work correctly.
    Check out Oracle Built-In Packages by Steven Feuerstein. Steven also has a real good book on PL/SQL programming that you may find helpful.

  • Error with executable using ActiveX object in ver 7

    I have a top-level VI (version 7 in WindowsXP) that contains an ActiveX control. This ActiveX object further calls several DLL’s, one of which controls the serial port. SubVIs in the top-level VI call this ActiveX object via Invoke Node and Property Node. Everything works in the LabVIEW development environment. The ActiveX object is registered using the “regsvr32” command and is made with Visual C++.
    When I try to build an application of the top-level VI, the executable doesn’t work (giving the error “The server threw an exception.” Error -2147417851). I’ve narrowed the problem down to the ActiveX calls. I’ve tried embedding the ActiveX object and the DLL’s in the executable as support files. I’ve also tried changing the Execution property of the top-level VI from “same as caller” (default) to “standard” (no change) and “user interface” (crashes executable). The application setting “Enable ActiveX server” is checked. I still get the error. Any suggestions?

    I'm not exactly sure what is going wrong, but I have some information that might help. As has been mentioned in some of the referenced posts, Windows has completely different ways of finding DLLs depending on the technology being used.
    When dealing with a COM library, LabVIEW calls CoCreateInstance - a COM method provided by Microsoft to create the object. This method looks in the registery to find the absolute path to the ActiveX DLL. Thus it doesn't matter where your DLL (versus your LV application) is located.
    HOWEVER - If that ActiveX DLL then uses other DLLs via a normal C interface, the rules change. If the ActiveX DLL just links normally (using a .LIB) with these dependent DLLs, then that ActiveX DLL relies on the PATH environment variable to find the DLLs (which typically includes the current directory - and is probably how Chris' app started working). The ActiveX DLL can also call LoadLibrary() directly, and thus can provide an absolute or relative path - raising all sorts of possibilities.
    ACTION ITEM
    Here is my suggestion. Go to www.sysinternals.com and download the File Monitor (http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Filemon.html). Set the filter on the monitor to the name of the EXE (either LabVIEW.exe or your built application). Then run the app. You'll see a lot of entries, but you can then search for the various DLLs in question. Don't be surprised to see FILE_NOT_FOUND errors, you'll get that as Windows probes around the various directories trying to find the DLLs.
    You can do this in both LV and your built app and see the difference in how it searches. That should give you some idea as to what is going wrong. Please feel free to post a follow-up with more questions once you've done this.
