Embedding Fonts in EPUB- iPad

Hello everyone I need your help.
I created an epub and inside it use the standard fonts (Times-Simoncini) with the addition of these two fonts:
JLSSmilesSampler.otf
Courier.otf
These two fonts are displayed on various types sony reader, .... but when I go to watch them on my Ipad not display anything (my font is substituted).
I found on the web reading here and I saw that one speaks of a file to be included in the META-INF folder (this is also noted on apple guide):
com.apple.ibooks.display-options.xml
I created this file and now actually reading the file on Ipad properly visualize all my fonts
but as if by magic I appear blank pages (1 .. 2 ... 3) at the end of each chapter that before someone can tell me where there were no wrong?

Embedding Fonts in Epub - some don't display on IPad

I know that there are certain fonts that will not display on an epub file displayed on an Ipad. The InDesign file the fonts came from substituted the 2 missing fonts OK except one. If I look in the fonts folder from the epub the font is there it's also in the encryption.xml but I do not see the font displayed on IPad
btw the font is
MaturaMTScriptCapitals.otf

Qns on ADE / embedded fonts in .epub

Hello,
I've created several .epub files with non-English text, using an embedded font to help render the characters correctly. The file renders properly on iBooks and Calibre (and epubcheck validates the file correctly), but ADE is displaying question marks - which leads me to believe it's ignoring the font information altogether. The weird thing is that it's rendering the TOC labels correctly. Here's what my .css looks like:

font-weight : normal;
font-style : normal;
src : url(DoulosSILR.ttf);

font-family: 'Doulos SIL', Times, serif;
direction: ltr;
Can anyone provide information on the following:
- Does ADE support embedded fonts? If so, what font formats are supported? (Doulos is TrueType)
- Does ADE support the :lang pseudo element? (This is just to isolate the issue - if ADE doesn't support embedded fonts, this is a moot point.)
Any info would be helpful. It looks like I'm running 1.7.2.1131 (on Windows 7 / 64bit). Thanks!

Okay, I think I've tracked it down.
ADE doesn't appear to implement the :lang pseudo element. When I set:
body {
font-family: 'Doulos SIL', Times, serif;
direction: ltr;
life is good and the non-English characters are rendered properly.
This does present a problem for multiple language documents, though. For example, I have a dictionary that has 4 writing systems. Having support for :lang(<xxx>) would help tremendously in this case. Is this something that is in the works for ADE?

Embedding unregistered fonts in epub

I cannot for the life of me get my InDesign CS6 to properly embed a proprietary font. I tried all the tricks I could find: removing the encryption and copying over the reduced-size TTF with the original; confirming the manifest, and obfuscating with SIGIL,and running the file through Calibre. Nothing works.
Is there not some good way to solve this problem??

Regarding embedded fonts
I gave the font permission to be embedded when I made it.
I do NOT get any error message during validation about the font not being able to embed.
The font shows up perfectly in Adobe Digital Editions 3.
But... when we go to the iPad, I get garbled nonsense.
The only conclusion I can draw is that something is amiss with InDesign's epub creator.
Regarding tables
I tried changing cell lines and table outline to paper and none
I tried changing to ther colors.
I tried reducing the line size to very, very small and to dotted lines.
The reuslts in every case showed up perfectly in InDesign, but... the epub didn't reflect any of this, which means I am stuck with ugly black lines every time I want a workaround for the failure of tabs to work in ebooks.
PS.
InDesign handled mobi files for Kindle perfectly on all the matters discussed above.

Embedding fonts in Keynote file for use on iPad

Is there any way to embed fonts into a Keynote file so they're usable/displayable on Keynote on iPad?
Or, is there a way to download fonts to the iPad?
I'd hate to have to recreate all my presentations with "stock" fonts.

Reader does not use or display the embedded fonts

I have an odd problem with both Reader X and XI. Neither one will use the embedded fonts when opened from an email. I can forward from that PC to any other PC and the fonts will display correctly. The HP is Windows 7 64 bit. I can view the document that was forwarded through it on XP, Win7 Win8 or Ipad and it displays correctly. The "use local fonts" is uncheck but it seems to ignor the change.

I think you need to add this to the list of applications and the action to take on the type of content. This can also be managed in the about:permissions page. [[Permissions Manager - Give certain websites the ability to store passwords, set cookies and more]]

Were you able to solve your issue with the fonts? I'm having the same issue but only when I go to publish the epub on Kindle Direct Publishing. When I view it through their previewer none of the fonts display. It seems like they display the default Kindle fonts. If you found a solution, please share

How do I solve the embedded font issue that ibook proofer does not accept?

I have several books I created in ID 6 and am now trying to prepare them to sell on iBookstore - and as others have noted ID creates a file for embedded fonts - I cannot find a way within ID to defeat this option when exporting to EPUB 3.0.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

In EPUB Exports Options/Advanced/CSS Options you could uncheck Include Embeddable Fonts.

Embedding Fonts - Why not?

We are really excited about the news of iBooks Author, since we are graphic designers who run a large font website. The bad news, iBooks doesn't support embedding fonts in the iBook format. Why not? (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5072) - The only work around seems to be if you publish in PDF format, but of course that limits things. Various foundries and font sites offer licenses for eBooks, so iBooks should support this, it's an important aspect to the book design and communication abilities..
Please fix this in the next update? Pretty please....?

In the ISO 8879 SGML family of which ePub and HTML are implementations the author inserts character information and content information considering the logical reading order. Appearance and geometry is not defined early binding by the author, but late binding by the audience. Because Apple controls the configuration of the obligatory CMAP Character Map in the SFNT Spline Font files available for rendering appearance, the author is guaranteed that the character information will map as intended in whatever appearance the audience chooses. This is *not* the case with glyph encoding and character substitution, whether in Adobe Type 1 font program dictionary format or in Adobe and Heidelberg SFNT Spline Font files which should have been sold with character encoding and glyph substitution, but which were in fact sold with glyph encoding and character substitution. Essentially, Apple is doing in the iBook Store what Microsoft did in Word 1992, that is, supporting obligatory CMAP shaping only for character-glyph mapping, and supporting system supplied SFNT Spline Font files for appearance approximation over third party selectable font files (whose character-glyph mapping may be completely off the wall).
There is the additional problem that adding logical reading order to PDF in order that it may reflow for PDA Personal Digital Assistants with different geometries is as complex, if not more so, than doing the same for a model for document markup that was designed for defining reading order. PostScript and PDF were designed for defining layout rendering order, not for defining logical reading order.

Kindle and embedded fonts

I have studied things in this forum and elsewhere about the net regarding embedding fonts for Kindle mobi files with InDesign CS6, but nothing seems to work.

Font embedding is a very confusing issue because it depends on the capabilities of the EPUB reader. I really haven't had the time to learn all the fine points.
I know that it now works correctly in InDesign CC if you're targeting iBooks, but I'm not sure it's guaranteed to work on other readers. With InDesign CS6, I believe you're using the correct workaround.

No.
However I think it is possible possible to have fonts not available on the iPad display via embedding them in web pages and apps.

Embedding fonts in Bridge (Photoshop CS5)

Hi folks!
I'm sorry for posting but I still have trouble with creating PDF via Bridge.
I have sveral PSD-Files (CS5 made) using several image- and textlayers.
Now I want to create multipage-PDF using Bridge that comes with PS CS5.
Works fine so far but Bridge does not embed those fonts used in the PSD!
Seems to me Bridge just merges all layers to one pixelbased image and saves it in PDF-format.
But that's no good deal!
In CS2 there was a much better solution in PS2 allowing to create multipaged PDF with embedded fonts.
Is there any chance to embed fonts with Bridge?
Plz don't tell me to use Acrobat or InDesign because I'm only using PS CS5.

I use TextFlowUtil.importFromString and FlowLeafElement to make each some text have its own style, every some words have diffirent color, fontFamily, fontSize....etc

To use embedded fonts in a Flex component, the fontFamily for the component needs to be set to an embedded font that is in the same SWF as the other embedded fonts in the TextFlow. See my blog for more details

          But when I use Simple ASProject with SDK 4.1 then it works fine but when I create Flex project then it give error
with SWFContext.
I think it's a issue of swfcontext or AS comunication with Spark components.
