Embedding FULLY SCALABLE SWF in PDF

Hello...good people...
I would like to embed a FULLY SCALABLE Photoshop Zoomable photo (swf) and Adobe Bridge web gallery (swf) inside my pdf. After watching the AcrobatUserCommunity Tech Talk tutorial "Embedding Flash in PDF" - September 2009 (https://adobechats.adobe.acrobat.com/p56758970/?launcher=false&fcsContent=true&pbMode=norm al) and following its instructions (I encourage EVERYONE to watch this entire video...but for this topic 0:29-0:46 is what you need to watch...awesome stuff!!!), I am glad to say I can successfully embed a PS Z-photo and Bridge web gallery. My problem is...the magnification (zoom) on the Z-photo AND gallery has to be 100% and higher. Anything lower, cropping occurs. My question is: how do I modify the Flash files and what applications do I use to make Zoomify and the Bridge web gallery FULLY SCALABLE? In plain English, I'd like to  see the ENTIRE Z-photo and gallery at 50% or even 25% zoom.
My tools:
Acrobat 9 PE
Flash Pro CS5
PS CS5
Flash Builder 4
Bridge CS5
Sothink SWF Decompiler
If anyone can provide step-by-step instructions as to how to do this, I would greatly appreciate it!!!

Adobe Reader can't create pdf files. What do you use?

  • Issues embedding swf in pdf document?

    I have created a small application to illustrate Snell's law as a flash file.
    The idea is to integrate it in a online educational book and I have already done so with several simple animations.
    This was to be my first application with user input other than start/stop buttons.
    The application works fine in a browser or as a stand-alone flash file but when I embed it in the pdf file it doesn't execute properly, nothing happens when buttons are pushed to calculate the equations.
    This is my first question here so I don't know how to add my application or an example of it embedded in a pdf document but I guess including them from a filehosting site could work?
    The swf file:
    http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/408159/Snells_Law.swf
    The PDF file:
    http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/408160/test.pdf
    I used CS6 Flash professional to create the SWF file.
    thanks in advance
    edit: also including the original fla-file: http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/408478/Snells_Law_3.fla
    By moving a piece of code up through the lines I have found that after line 377, nothing gets executed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I see no syntax errors and your code works well so there shouldn't be any issue embedding it. In Acrobat XI I get a preview of the plugin required to view the SWF and I must activate the plugin (very common on windows) by clicking on it. Once I do the SWF embedded in your document works for me, although it doesn't overlap the preview which is stretched to the size of the page whereas the plugin container is the size of the original document. So it works fine for me when viewing as a PDF and if you resize it down to its original document size it should overlap the preview properly. Plugin containers often require permission/activation (a mouse click), that's normal.
    I was able to target 10.1/10.2 as the SWF export target rather than FP11. You may want to try downgrading your publish preferences to that which should reduce the overhead of the plugin container. Outside that I see no reason you should have an issue embedding this. I don't have a full copy of master at home to create the PDF to test (openoffice isn't really capable of it) so you'll have to test that yourself but the PDF you linked works for me.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro and straight .swf to PDF conversion

    I have an electronic document that is several .swf files, one
    file for each document page. Using cutepdf I can put each file in
    firefox and then print the the page to pdf. This is very tedious
    since I have 1000+ pages. I would prefer to speed this process up
    with AA9.
    I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended. When I try to create a
    new PDF from the .swf file I get some dialogue that treats the .swf
    as embedded content. This puts an annoying play button at the
    bottom of the converted page and makes it incompatible to view in
    my iPhone or other handheld devices. It would seem that AA9 treats
    the .swf as .swf and doesn't convert it to .pdf like cutepdf does.
    I have to believe that AA9 can ignore the media type of .swf
    and straight convert the content in the .swf to .pdf without
    treating it like I want to embed it as a flash file inside a pdf.
    How is this done? Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for your reply. This problem has yet to be resolved
    sadly. The play button isn't a huge deal as that the document wont
    convert into straight PDF. I finally gave up and decided to batch
    convert all of the files and just deal with the embedded content
    angle AA9 takes. Sadly this was also a failure since every file
    that was converted (1200+) wants me to confirm the embedded content
    settings. Very annoying. Any help on these subjects would be
    greatly appreciated.

  • View/Save/Print Embedded Form on Webpage to PDF

    How can a user View/Save/Print Embedded Form on Webpage to PDF?

    Hi,
    Currently FormsCentral does not support to View/Save/Print Embedded Form from the Webpage to PDF. If you are the form author, you can save/print the form to PDF in FormsCentral, and the PDF forms can be viewed in Acrobat or Reader.Or if you like, you can save/print the entire web page to PDF using the browser, but the form could not be submitted then. I hope it's clear, and please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!
    Kind regards,

  • Indesign to swf in PDF will not play sound

    Hi, I have created a book with narration on the pages in Indesign. I have exported it to .swf. When I run the .swf file the cool page turning anmation works, the sound plays on each page - great! Now I want to embed the .swf file in a PDF so I can sell my new narrated book in a PDF format.
    I drag the .swf into Acrobat Pro and then right click to get properties - I import the supporting audio files in .MP3 format (they just played fine OUTSIDE of Acrobat a minute ago) Then, I run the pdf - the page animation looks great but there is no sound.
    I tried the same process with the latest demo of Acrobat X Pro - same results.
    Any thoughts here?
    Steve

  • Importing SWF to PDf problem since updating 10.1.6

    Ever since updating to 10.1.6 all of a sudden our SWF flash presentations  have stopped importing to pdf correctly
    In version 10.1.4 we used to right click the swf and then select open with Adobe Acrobat X which would allow us to make a pdf of our presentation without any issues and showing correctly,
    since updating we can no longer do this without strange sizing issues
    Now, in 10.1.6, when we import the swf the size is tiny and either a long strip horizontally or vertically and you have to zoom in 400% to see the document properly and it no longer reads the actual SWF extents and seems to have random extra document space around it
    the sizing/scaling cropping  of the swf in pdf is completely out, like its not respecting the flash document width and height and adding extra space....
    also we have had to remove fscommand("fullscreen", "true"); as the swf wont work unless its removed
    Has anyone had any similar problem with SFW since updating
    in the image is a simple example 550 x 400 swf when it goes into pdf it ignores the document size and shpws extra space

    Ive tried all the diferent stage scalemodes but it seems to automatically decide on what the extents should be when importing the swf wheras previously it would respect the document dimensions of the SWF
    here is a pdf from swf file created a few days with acrobat version 10.1.4 on the left with one created today with 10.1.6  (document size is 1024 x 768 in flash), something has changed and I cant work out what it is  -  i have added an image resizing function to the image, which is why its constrainign to the view, but how did it come up with the tiny rectangle document size ?

  • Indesign/Acrobat PDF - embedded link file(word, excel, pdf)

    Hi,
    In the microsoft word, we can embedd, the pdf, word or excel files as link, so that when you click the embedded file (for eg. if you click the pdf icon of embedded file in word, the pdf file will open, as same as the word files and excel files will open) . There is will no seperate link files will be there. (so from a word doc embedded with pdf files and excel files will be opened from the word itself)
    Is there any option to do like this in Indesign or Pdf, where we can embedd the Link files inside the indesign, without linking the files from the hard dirve or server.
    Any idea about this? You people understand what i am trying to say?

    Acrobat Pro has an Attachements navigation panel that you can add (embed) files that will open in their native application when clicked to open.
    InDesign can do something similar... you can embed files via the Links panel... you can also edit original (but you might need to unembed it first.
    Not on a computer with InDesign right now, I will check tommorrow.

  • Embedding fonts as SWF

    Hi all,
    I am working on a mobile actionsxcript project and am having trouble embedding some fonts. The fonts are embedded in SWF files as only a small subset is needed and I am trying to embed the SWF files in my AS build and then access the fonts via their linkage names.
    I am not having any luck but am not really sure of the exact approach here so if anyone can shed any light or provide a tutorial/example that would be great as I am about to start banging my head on stuff.
    I am embedding the font swf like this:
    [Embed(source="assets/newfonts/FontFile.swf", symbol="fontInstanceName")]
    public var FontBold:Class;
    I assume I need to construct an instance and cast it before I can use the font (maybe wrong about this) but am unsure of the details.
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Turns out to be really (embarressingly) simple and I'm not sure how it took me so long to get working.
    Add a new font to the library in Flash.
    Give it a linkage name and set it to export for actionscript.
    Publish the SWF
    Embed the swf in the actionscript project using [Embed(source="assets/newfonts/FontLib.swf", symbol="TestFontBold")]public var TestFontBold:Class;
    Set the 'symbol' parameter in the embed tag to be the flash linkage name of the font.
    Create a TextFormat object
    Create a Font object - var newFont:Font = new TestFontBold();
    Set myTextFormat.font = TestFontBold.fontName;
    Apply the TextFormat as usual.
    No idea how I had so much trouble with this when it is so obvious and straighforward. Oh well, that's often the case (with me at least)
    Cheers

  • Need help with embedded SWF in PDF as navigation

    Hi,
    I was wondering is there a way to have an embedded swf navigate to different pages of a pdf?
    Example:
    My swf is on page one. There are mulitple buttons in the swf, when clicked it will take you to page 3, or 5, or 7, etc.
    Currently, when I click on a button, it DOES take me to say page 4, but the content on page is the SWF file from page 1, and not the content that is suppose to be on page 4. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
    This is what I have in the flash action:
    btn_1994_1.addEventListener( MouseEvent.CLICK, p1994 );
    function p1994(e:MouseEvent):void{
         //addChild(pop_1994);
         doExternalInterfaceCall("gotoTarget", "pink");
    function doExternalInterfaceCall(myfncall, parm)
        flash.external.ExternalInterface.call(myfncall,parm);
    And this is what I have in the javascript of the pdf:
    function gotoTarget(name)
         this.gotoNamedDest(name);
    Please help me fix this problem.
    Thanks in advanced!
    ps. I am using Acrobat 9 Pro

    can anyone help?

  • Embedded swf in pdf does autoplay in IE(9), does not play in Firefox and Chrome.

    I created a pdf with swf embedded. Set it to autoplay.
    Does play fine in IE9.
    In Firefox and Chrome video shows up (initial picture) with a play button.
    Will not play, not auto nor when I click the play button.
    Firefox and Chrome I just downloaded, so the newest versions.
    Windows 7 professional.

    Found the solution for Firefox.
    In firefox, goto tools/options.
    Look for Portable Document Format (PDF).
    Select it and in drop down choose Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox) instead of Use Firefox (Default)
    Thanks but no thanks, Acrobat team.

  • Scalable swf flash images in pdf?

    I am using Adobe CS 5.5 package. If there any way to create (vector) scalable flash graphics when I create pdf files?  These flash images (swf files) are scalable in my html file, but when I "print to pdf," they are rasterized.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Jay

    Yes and no.
    "Printing" any web page to PDF will always rasterize non-text objects, it's part of the way the web browser works.
    If you use the Acrobat "Create PDF from Web Page" button, there's an option to retain interactive multimedia. With this chosen, SWF content in the web page will remain as native SWF content on the PDF, so it will scale when you zoom in to view the PDF on screen - but when you print that PDF it will be rasterized again.

  • Closing a Flash (.swf) in PDF

    I am trying to close a .swf file that appears in a floating window when triggered from the pdf.  The .swf file was created using Captivate and it comes with its own controller (skin).  The Exit button in this controller does not seem to work.  When you click it, the floating window does not close and the .swf file continues playing.  However, the other buttons on the controller do work.  Is there some parameter or Flash Variable that I need to set in the Flash Properties dialog box?  Does anyone know what that variable is or how you can make the Exit button work?
    Thank you,
    Peter

    I am using Acrobat 9.
    I am embedding the file with the Flash tool (Tools --> Multimedia -->Flash).  I have tried to play the Captivate Flash file both in the page and from a Floating Window.  Is there some setting in the Properties dialog that needs to be set?  Is there a Flash Parameter that will close the window and stop the file?
