i want to embed fusion charts (swf) inside a PDF file. How can i do this?
Also can i embed flash using LiveCycle?

I'm creating CR 2008 reports with embedded SWFs as described in the whitepaper [EMBEDDING XCELSIUS 2008 VISUALIZATIONS IN CRYSTAL REPORTS 2008|http://www.businessobjects.com/pdf/product/catalog/crystalreports/cr_xc_integration.pdf].
From CR, I can export the report to html and view the report fine. But when I export to pdf, ppt, etc. The SWFs are not viewable. Is this a bug or by design?

True. It says:

It seems inconsistent to me. I can export static flash charts to pdf, yet I cannot export dynamic flash charts to pdf, which is from Adobe, as is Flash?
I'm hoping this is a temporary bug either in Crystal or pdf reader and is to be fixed in a patch release. Or an explanation of why the limitations exist.

Exporting Crystal Reports with embedded Xcelsius content to PDF

I have a crystal report with an embedded xcelsius chart. I would like to schedule this report using Crystal Server 2008, sending it monthly as a PDF file attached to an email. But after exporting the report through Crystal Server, the xceslsius content is just blank. Shouldn't this be working?

What is the version of Adobe Reader? Adobe Reader 9 should be there.Also check whether you have Flash Palyer/ flash Active X control installed.
If you can view the dashboard after exporting it to PPT,it means you have Flash Player installed. You need to try with Adobe Reader 9.

Fonts not embedding when "save as" pdf

Version: Photoshop CS4 64 bit on Windows Vista 64.
Issue: fonts not getting embedded during conversion to pdf.
I am attempting to save files for commercial printing in Photoshop pdf format (file-save as-pdf). In the past, using previous versions of Photoshop, the fonts have always been embedded in the pdf document when I choose the "Press Quality" pdf preset. However, now, even when I simplify my Photoshop source file down to the most basic level (one non-background layer with one line of type using a font I KNOW has successfully embedded before) the resulting pdf reports NO embedded fonts (no fonts at all, actually) and when sized up a great deal in Acrobat Pro shows pixelation as though the type was converted to a graphic. If I open the resulting pdf file in Photoshop the text is still editable though...
I have Photoshop files that were built using a previous version of Photoshop (CS2). When I open these in Photoshop CS4 and save as pdf the fonts are embedded just as they always were so the problem lies not with the CS4 version of Photoshop itself but rather with NEW files created by it. It seems that any NEW files I create using Photoshop CS4 wil not embed their fonts when saved as pdfs.

Good points. To test that out I tried substituting different non-commercial fonts (Arial, Tahoma, Times, etc.) and then saving as a pdf. No matter what fonts I try they don't get embedded. So that would seem to rule out the idea that Photoshop CS4 is now restricting the embedding of fonts to non-commercial ones.
I have poured through the save-as-pdf options in GREAT detail - have tried many various options and don't see any settings that have either made a difference or seem relevant. According to Adobe documentation anytime you select "Press Quality" as the preset the fonts should automatically be embedded.
The really odd thing is, if I take a psd file that was originally created using a previous version of Photoshop, delete all the layers and then create one single line type layer so that it is identical in every way to my CS4 test file, any font I select gets embedded when I convert that file to pdf - same exact pdf preset - all file settings the same - everything! - except that it was originally created using a previous Photoshop version.
Does that make ANY sense??

How do I hide the file names/path names of embedded images in a PDF document?

I created a PDF document from a Word document, and the problem is that the PDF document shows the file names and path names for all of the embedded images in the PDF document. I don't want that information displayed. I don't want to send the PDF out to clients and have them read the names I've assigned to those images, plus it looks messy. And I've lost many of the original image files so they only exist in the Word document, thus I can't go back and rename them. I searched the internet for an answer but I couldn't find one anywhere.

When you create a tagged (accessible) PDF file from Word, placed bitmap images will use their filename as the "ALT text" if you don't define something else for the text to say, because an image without any ALT text is a failure against the accessibility standards. You can't change that default action, so you should put your own meaningful text into the ALT field for each image - which is what you should be doing anyway if the PDF is standards-compliant.
You can can set the text in Word, but it depends on your version as to where the dialogs are - Google for it - or you can change/delete it in Acrobat using the tags navigation pane on the left side of the window (right-click the sidebar if it's not visible). Drill down through the tags structure to find the "<Figure>" tag you want to change, right-click and choose Properties, then put something in the "Alternative text" field. This process isn't something you can easily automate, but if you don't need tags at all, you can save without tags (or print to PDF).

Embedding FLV Video Into PDF Files

I have been testing out embedding FLV files into PDF's to simplify presentations (no need for Powerpoint, DVD player, DVD player software, etc..). It is a bit slow when a big video file will load, but I think it is worth it for the simplified presentation method.
My problem is this, whenever I embed an FLV file into a PDF, it seems to degrade the quality down a notch or two. I am not concerned about file size since these will always be played locally from a hard drive or CD so I created the embedded FLV file to be high quality and very crisp (720 x 486, ~2200kbs bit rate). However, no matter how good a file I embed, after it becomes embedded it always looks worse. At this point, it has mainly been trial and error, but the original quality does not seem to matter as to how it will look in the PDF.
Does Acrobat Pro re-encode the video no matter if it is FLV or not? And is there anyway to change the settings so it does not alter the existing quality?

Are you inserting a screen capture FLV of the whole screen. I use camtasia Studio to capture my desktop in video... and if the playback is NOT at the same size as the original...then it can look blurry.

In office word bi publisher plugin, load the xml, the chart can be generated.
The above exception only occurs in some linux and solaris platforms, but never occurs in windows.
The following plateform throws exception.
Oracle Linux Server release 5.6 + java version "1.6.0_25"
The following plateform doesn't throw exception.
Enterprise Linux Enterprise Linux Server release 5.4 (Carthage) + java version "1.6.0_05"
The strange thing is in those platforms which can throw exception, if the code is not running in EJB, the chart still can be generated.
In other words, if the normal web or standalone app invokes that program; the chart can be generated.

How to export an entire model content (tables and charts) to pdf

Hello,
I would like to export a complete model, which includes tables and charts, to pdf.
I am already familiar with [this|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/47fe4fef-0d01-0010-6f87-ed8ecb479123] tutorial but it explains how to do it for a single table and doesn't deal with charts. What I would like to do is take like a screenshot of the entire iView/model content to pdf.

Not for the entire stage. The only thing you could do is to highlight everything and convert it to a symbol, then ensure that you move your triggers and labels to the new symbol. Then you could export an individual symbol, which will also package all of the dependent symbols.

You could use something like the Report to FOP howto and by posting the SVG source get a PDF. I have never done that but in theory it should work.
I have taken the source by hand and rendered FOP and that works, the only issue was the styles and class's had to be all put into the custom CSS section of the Chart attributes.

Your approach seems to be right.
Get the data using hibernate into your struts action ( if you are using struts ).
Set the xml and any other property as request attribute.
Embed the chart in JSP, by including FusionChartsRenderer.jsp ( found in download package ) and passing xml ( got from request attribute ) and other values as parameters to it.
Please check the FusionCharts forum for some discussions on Struts, JSP implementation. ( /forum - you could use the search feature available there )
Please refer to the documentation of FusionCharts as well. ( /docs )

Hi,
Creating multi-series chart using FusionCharts would be as easy as creating a single series chart.
All you need to do is - build and provide proper XML to the correct chart swf files. Like for each single series chart there is a separate SWF file, for each multiseries chart there is a separate SWF file. e.g. for Multi-series Column3D chart you need to use MSColumn3D.swf.

Help with Fusion Charts

We just installed Fusion Charts on our server and I was told to start using that instead of cfchart.
Where can I find documentation, similar to cf docs, that explains all the commands and gives examples. I searched the web and cannot seem to find what I am looking for. Does anybody have a good website to look at ?
Also, does fusion charts completely replace cfchart, or does cfchart call the fusion charts commands ? I am completely new to this and was wondering can somebody show me an example of how fusion chart works ?

Let me tell you what I am sure about and what I am not sure about:
I am sure that I want to be able to sell my products online. The industrial market that I sell to usually do not allow the maintenance people that find me on the web, do not have the ability to use credit cards in a typical shopping cart format due to the higher prices that the equipment I sell costs and that most people call me up to 'request a formal quotation' to give to their purchasing depart. So, my bright idea is to create numerous pdf files with very specific url's to match the very specific items that I sell. (1) item per pdf. I am thinking that the advantage to skipping the shopping cart approach and allowing the customer to fill in the qty of items, which would be mulitpled by the price of the item (a constant #) and then hitting a apply button, that would calculate subtotal price. Discounts for the qty the customer inputs (qty of items inputted by customer would be discounted on a percentage x base price) and a refresh the screen. It would allow for SEO advantages from what I have seen in the past in my very vertical market. All forms would be setup using the same functionality, just images, alt text, urls, and readable text would change.
What I don't know- which is alot, then how to calculate shipping costs. I have a weight per item, which can be added up. I saw an Adobe blog that allows UPS shipping cost to be programmed in. I don't know how dreamweaver works, which was what the blog mentioned would allow for this updated, instantanious interface with UPS and calculating real shipping costs to a specific zip code. Shipping cost would be fluff to this page. The main thing would be to do allow the customer to be able to fill in a qty of the specific item on the page, calculate a discount if / then type thing, be able to have customer email to purchasing dept or print. I would date stamp it with verbage that pricing is valid for XX days and if I could get a copy emailed to me that would be icing on the cake. I believe that this non static pdf would be something different then the current competion and that it would allow for 100's of quotes to be generated without customers having to wait 15 minutes to an hour for me to process the exact document that they are looking for.
