  • How do you plot a path using a .kml file in an embedded google earth in Labview?

Over the last few days I have been reading all the google earth and lv postings that I can find and I have downloaded a variety of vis and examples that people have posted. I haven't been able to find or figure out a way to display a .kml file that I am creating based on a path of lat and long values in an embedded google earth map in labview.  I was hoping to have the user select a portion of the path on a x,y lv graph and then use those cursor coordinates to create a kml file of the lat and long values of that selected path (I have already completed this portion of the code) and display that alongside in a google earth map.  All the examples I have found show how to display a point in the embedded GE map - does anyone know how to display a number of points along a path?
    Thanks so much!

    Hi,
I have found an example thatprogramatically creates and modifies a .kml file with pushpin information:

Embed Google Earth? Does it have any exposed APIs. If not then no.

  • I am having trouble displaying Google Earth Plug-in

My embedded Google Earth plugin suddenly stopped working in Firefox. It's worked fine for months, still works in IE and Chrome, but suddenly it won't display in Firefox. Here is the link:

    Morbus:
You don't understand the Question!! Hence your solution has a high probability of failure. What the original post was saying is that the Google Earth Viewer Plug in, which is an embedded widget provided by Google isn't working in FF 6.3.10 either. I am having the same issues and it works fine in IE and Chrome. It was working fine for me too, but not now.
You really think if I call or email Google they will fix the problem? I really doubt it. Seems to me like they would prefer FF not to run the embedded player. I could be wrong though.
Do you still suggest that I contact Google and ask them to fix "there" code so FF can display and run the Embedded Google Earth Player? Would love to hear another solution if possible.
    Thanks

  • [solved] Google Earth does not show embedded pictures

I'm using the Google Earth AUR package.
When I click on the little blue squares in the satellite view, only a big white placeholder window for the picture is shown, but no picture is embedded. Only a small question mark is shown in the middle of a the rather large white window, clicking on it brings me to Firefox, showing the picture in Panoramio. Please help me! How can I enable the embedded pictures?

  • Problems w/MS Office 2008 & Google Earth Ever Since Snow Leopard "Upgrade"

I probably should have checked this forum before taking my son's advice to upgrade from 10.5 to 10.6. Ever since this upgrade, I've had repeated and frustrating problems with two applications: MS Office 2008 for the Mac and Google Earth for the Mac.
Note that I did an "in-place" upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard, i.e., I inserted the installation DVD into my iMac and then double-clicked on "Install Mac OS X".
Office 2008: Ever since the Snow Leopard upgrade, MS Office 2008 has been crashing. Typically, it's Entourage crashing when a crash does occur because that's the office app that I run 95% of the time. However, whenever Entourage crashes and I try to launch Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, they won't launch either... The icons will bounce a few times in the dock but won't run. (The Entourage crash is the only Office App that actually generates a crash window.) Note that there are two identities configured on my iMac, both of which which use Entourage. The key thing about this situation is that when the Office 2008 crash does occur, restarting the iMac ALWAYS resolves the problem until the next time a crash occurs. I've tried to determine what combination of events, i.e., apps open/being used in either/both identities, etc. is the trigger, but I can't find anything obvious. Sometimes I can use the iMac for a whole day without a crash, but that's unusual. If Entourage is left open in both identities, maybe a couple of days will pass without a crash, but invariably it happens again, and then it's reboot time again. In cases where Entourage is left running (in one or both identities), we will still eventually get a crash in one of them if one of us tries to open a WinWord attachment (with a "Not enough memory to run Word" error). If at that point I close Entourage and try to restart it, it crashes. I've tried everything I could find on the Office for the Mac forums, including deleting duplicate fonts, doing a safe start-up, fixing disk permissions via Disk Utility, zapping the PRAM, turning filing sharing off then on (including deleting everything listed in the Shared Folders section), logging out/logging back in, etc., all to no avail. One of the Office 2008 for the Mac forum contributors suggested that the problem was with my Snow Leopard Install, but then a contributor to another more general Apple forum blames Office for Mac. (This is exactly the sort of finger-pointing exercise that I'd hoped to avoid when I made the plunge from being a long-time Windows user to becoming an OS X user...; - )
Google Earth: This just flat-out WILL NOT RUN ever since I upgraded to Snow Leopard. When I try to run it, it bounces in the dock for about a minute then just stops, staying fixed to the dock until I do a Force-Quit. (I don't have it permanently tethered to the dock since I only use it occasionally.) I've tried deleting/reinstalling, including Google Earth's suggestions to remove files from my identity's Google Earth folder in the Library folder, but no dice.
My take on all of this is that despite all of Apple's advertising to the contrary, their OS (including updates to their OS) isn't necessarily as trouble-free/stable as their anti-Windows spots would have you believe. Sorry for this long post, but any help would be much appreciated.

I left my system running all day in 64-bit kernel mode. (I left Entourage running the whole time.) Just now closed Entourage and tried reopening it. Same deal with Google Earth. They both crashed. Here's a screen paste of the entire Microsoft crash log for Entourage:

  • Google Earth Screen Capture

Does anyone know of a way to capture the effect of Google Earth zeroing in on a location. For example, I am editing some hunting footage from an area in Texas and would like to show a graphic zooming in from a shot of the entire US to a much smaller area. I can get it on my screen in Google Earth, but can I capture that and pull it into FCE?

I did this for free using a screen capture tool called Copernicus that allows you to capture a quicktime video directly from selected portions of your screen. It was tricky because the frame capture rate was only 2 frames per second with the CPU load of google earth doing its thing. I got around this by changing Google Earth's flying speed in its preferences->touring tab. I was able to crop out the text at the bottom of the frame by sizing the google earth window to larger than 640x480 and then capturing only the center portion of the window. If you want to get 720x480, you need to make sure your window width is greater than 720 wide, which oversamples the vertical. This gets sampled down when you take it to video editing.
If you want to spend money on it, I seem to remember somewhere in the on-line Google Earth Plus or Pro documentation seeing something about being able to record Google Earth output directly to a video file. This would obviously be a lot better quality, without all the frame-rate handsprings I had to go through. I guess the money must have been more than I was interested in spending at the time.
PS. For an extra cool effect, start with the entire globe visible, and flick it west to east to get the world spinning, then click your location to get the fly-in to start. Its tricky to get it spinning at a slow enough speed, but the result is quite nifty.

  • Where did Google Earth go when I upgraded to the latest version of Firefox?

I clicked the popup that upgraded to the latest version of Firefox - and clicked to give it permission to make changes to my computer - and my Google Earth was no longer there. I restored my computer to before I had made the Firefox changes and my Google Earth was there but I got a blank page when I tried to open Firefox. Then I re-downloaded Firefox and Google Earth is gone. I would like to have both. If I have to do without one I would give up Firefox and use Internet Explorer until the problem gets fixed.

I doubt it is a Norton Security problem. Maybe. I solved it by deleting the account and re-installing it.

  • Google Earth Plugin and LabVIEW: High CPU usage when adding placemarks

    Hi,
I posted this question on stackoverflow earlier this week but feel it might be better suited to the LabVIEW community specifically so I'm reposting here:
I'm writing an application which uses the Google Earth Plugin to display events on the globe. Each event is a single point kml placemark with an icon which is a 3kb png file. Placemarks are uploaded to the plugin as they are received by the software. I am experiencing increasing CPU usage with the number of placemarks that are added.
I have tested displaying a new placemark every second and running until the software running the plugin completely froze (graph attached). The GEPlugin (green trace) stopped responding (i.e. the globe did not respond to the mouse) at around 1200 placemarks added and CPU usage was at ~30%. When the software itself (red trace) froze the plugin was using around 50% CPU and ~3700 placemarks had been added). After the freeze, no new placemarks were added which caused the software to respond (but not the plugin) so I could clear all the placemarks. After the placemarks were cleared from the globe, the CPU usage of the plugin returned to around 5% CPU.
So what I've seen is that GEPlugin CPU usage increases linearly with each kml placemark added. Is this the expected behaviour/ a normal limitation of the plugin? If not is there a more efficient way of adding many placemarks to the globe?
I am using GEPlugin version 7.1.1.1580 (API version 1.010) and LabVIEW 12.0f3
Please see the test results attached. Any input greatly appreciated!

    Hello,
I have had a look at your graphs and understood what you are trying to do. To me it seems that as the image gets more complex it gets harde to render which wold likely cause increase in CPU usage resulting in the freeze. I would suggest you try running the program on anoher computer to check on the RAM front of things. If this is a limitation of the GE Plugin then unfortunately I can not do much to help, but if you think this is a problem coming from your LabVIEW code then you can post your code here and I can take a look.

  • How do I export an album from the iPhone Photos app in a form that retains location information so I can import it to ArcMap or Google Earth?

I have an iPhone 4S with OS 5.1 installed and I have taken several hundred photos that are geotagged and that show up in the Places page in the Photos app. These were taken for field work and have data in them that we want to use to tie information in the photos to locations in a GIS application. Therefore I would like to be able to export the mapped locations along with the photos in a way that would allow me to upload the locations to ArcMap or to Google Earth. I know that the individual photos have location information but the process of uploading them to Panoramio one at a time is labor-intensive, whereas I can take an entire album in the Photos application and quickly display locations tied to photos on the screen.
Also these photos were taken before I enabled iCloud on my iPhone and I'm wondering how to upload them even though they were taken previously. When I go into the "share" menu my only options are email, tweet, message, and print. I'd like to send the whole album to iCloud so I can at least bring it back into applications on my Macbook Pro.
Does anyone have a recommendation as to how I can go about doing either of these things?

This is something that I want to do as well. I'm new to applescript, but I found this script:
    http://www.bagelturf.com/aparticles/tips/tipprint/index.php
Go to about half way down the page. The script works well, but I'd like to change it so that I only export Versions w/ a specified "main rating" (or greater than a minimum rating)
If you look at the script, there's a line:
"set theimages to every image version as list"
FYI: "image version" is an Aperture class that represents an image version. "main rating" is a property of "image version"
Is there a way to modify this applescript statement to spec only those "image versions" that meet a min "main rating"? I tried a bunch of things, and none of them compiled. (I need to learn Applescript)
If not, then how could this be done w/ a little loop in Applescript?
    Thanks for your help!

  • Google earth and google earth plugin not working on

    Hi,
I have a macbook 2006 with Intel GMA 250 and OS 10.6.8, and I cannot manage to make google eart work properly, nor google earth's plugin on safari, firefox, or google chrome. It worked fine previously, but stoped at a certain point (since several months). I have reinstalled the plugin several without success. I also tried troubleshooting from google earth, without success.
Does anyone experiencing the same problem knows how to solve it?
    Thanks
    THibaut

    More information would be great.
What type of site is it?  WordPress?  Joomla or Drupal?
What drag and drop theme or framwork are you using?
What version of software and theme, what type of hosting, what version of PHP and mySQL?
I'm having similar issues but details such as these will go a long way to grouping symptoms and getting to the bottom of the problem(s).
One thing I've noted is that in most cases everything is actually working.  It's just taking an unbelievably long time.  jQuery isn't the problem either.  It seems more closely related to the quantity of available tasks on a given page.
There are forum posts for v7 that say Safari isn't compatible with WordPress for example.  It is compatible and works just fine, but if you're running the latest version of Catalist Theme and their Dynamic Site Builder you can't do anything with Dynamic admin because all its options are on a single page which appears to be too much for Safari 7 to handle for some reason.  Folks are having similar problems with Genesis, Headway Theme, Pagelines and many others.

  • [ISSUE FOUND] Help Request Stabilizing Google Earth 7.1

    Good Morning Fellow Archers,
Arch is my main OS, I have a Windows 7 partition for Games (Skyrim).
I am x86_64, running the 32bit libs, NVidia GTX-660 platform, with the "ck" kernel option for my Piledriver CPU with the associated "ck" nvidia modules. The system works very nicely. And I couldn't be happier with Arch as a distribution!
I have started cycling in the last 7 months for health reasons, and in preparation for a disabled veterans Sea to Shining Sea ride in 2014 that I want to participate in (San Fran to Virginia Beach). I use Google Earth (G.E.) to map out various long-distance trails/paths locally to take as training runs with my riding partner.
I use Google Earth in my Windows 7 partition because I cannot get Google Earth 7.1 running stably under Arch. And I openly acknowledge that the "path" section of G.E. is glitchy in and of itself....platform independent. I am OK with that.
Yesterday, I followed some other threads and downloaded from the AUR. I installed the one package I needed, "ld-lsb", installed, and then did the usual "makepkg -s" for Google Earth. What it brought down was the x86_64 version of Google Earth, instead of the i386 version that I was expecting, mentioned on the AUR page.
There was no resultant ".xz" package from which to do a "pacman -U". But the layout was kind obvious where to put things so I manually moved things around as indicated. There was a launcher script that came with the tarball that set environment variables and performed some font stuff before actually launching G.E.
I launched G.E. using the included launching script from a cli, so I could observe what was going wrong. G.E. came right up, and the fonts did not look wierd as in previous releases. There are a lot of repetitive errors showing up in the cli, but G.E. at least runs.....until....You click on a photo or a place, add more than a few "nodes" to a "path". Instant crash, no signal traps, no nothing...it just vanishes into thin air. And it will not launch again until I restart my D.E. and/or "zap" the "X" server. I am assuming this is necessary to clear out some environment variables that are temporary in nature that the launcher script setup, although I do not know this for sure.
I have included the copy-n-paste error trail from the cli at the bottom of this post.
I have also attempted to install the Windows version under Wine to get around the issue, with no luck. The G.E. installer can't seem to find the internet conenction and dies. The wine-gecko app is installed, as I have one other Windows specific reference software package installed under Wine...that uses the network to update itself. It works just fine....telling me that my Wine install is OK.
I see that others using Arch seem to have G.E. running stably......
I am requesting assistance to get my G.E. installation stable as well. I have no idea where to start....
    Some assistance please?
    Sincerely and respectfully,
    Dave.

    I did one more test......
I rebooted with the stock Arch kernel and stock modules for NVidia......The issue remains. The problem is not specific to the "ck" kernel series and their associated video modules.
One more tidbit...I am running pure systemd.......and 16Gb of ram that memtest86 "blesses". And I am not overclocked in any way. The AMD Piledriver (bulldozer Rev II) doesn't need it at all...and I don't like pushing things anyway. I use the "ck" kernels because I can get them compiled specifically for my CPU and I do notice significant responsiveness gains. A Thank You is in order to graysky for providing these kernels.

  • Firefox does not load embedded google calendar month view (2014)

Recently (first complaint today), all of our embedded google calendars on our site stopped loading in Firefox browsers. Specifically, it is the month view. The calendar actually loads and the contents can be seen on agenda and week views. However, Month view remains empty (A google calendar framework appears complete with the tools that might normally be there[month selection, print, view tabs] but the expected calendar is not there, so it is quite short).
We have 3 online google calendars that are injected with the <object data> call. All three work in Chrome and Safari as they are designed to work. This is only effecting Firefox (have not tested IE). I reset firefox, and started it in safe mode. I also downloaded and ran Firefox 33,32,30,28, and 15. It effects them all.
So far I have only tested this on a Mac with Firefox, Safari, and Chrome
Let me know if you have any suggestions or if there is more information you may need.
    thanks

Thanks for the response. I do have data defined. However, type is not. The specs don't seem to make it necessary to specify both, but if that helps I can. The webconsole shows one error:
Use of getPreventDefault() is deprecated. Use defaultPrevented instead. That is an error in the jquery javascript code though.
Firebug doesn't show anything in its console.
I used iframe and the behavior is exactly sthe same. I'm beginning to think this is a google calendaring issue instead.
    Thanks again.

  • Error message for google earth

I get getting error message when I try to use "Google Earth" The message is 'See file PPC errlog' for all printout messages for this application" How can I fix this?

    Ha!  I fixed it dammit!
I read dozens of posts all over the web with no fix, so I hope this helps folks.
I downgraded from v.7 to v.6 (which is a little tricky to do).  Trash v.7.
Then when get to this webpage:  http://www.google.com/earth/download/ge/agree.html
Click Customize and choose Previous Version 6.2.  Install that.
Then (as others have written) turn off internet access.  Open Google Earth.  Go into Preferences and turn off "show startup tips" under the General tab.  Quit Google Earth.  Turn internet back on.
    Startup Google Earth v. 6.
    Seems to work.
    {arrggggg. worked for a minute, then error msg recurred.  better than before when it did not work at all, i guess}

  • [SOLVED] Google Earth doesn't work with xf86-video-ati

    Hi all,
I'm having a problem with the open-source ATI drivers.  I haven't had much luck finding out anything from anywhere else, so I'm hoping someone here can help.
Whenever I start Google Earth, the graphics run EXTREMELY slowly, almost as if it's running on a system with low memory.  I'm running an Acer Extensa 4420 with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core 64-bit processor with 2GB of RAM.  As mentioned before, I'm running on the open-source xf86-video-ati drivers, but this is the only app that gives me problems.  GL screensavers run fine, and glxgears runs without any significant input.  Running Google Earth in terminal also gives no output.
And I'm not sure if this is related, but closing Google Earth also crashes X.

I had the same problem (slow googleearth) with ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility U1 (IGP 320m).
This .drirc solves it. I don't have an xorg.conf.
    - no need for the 'disable_lowimpact_fallback' option
    - no need to turn off 'atmosphere'
