Embedding SWF: Doesn't recognize FP10

Flash files I embed have faulty plugin detection - it does not recognize FP10 as an upgrade from FP9. This is in the knowledgebase, but it does not suggest a solution.
"Some websites will ask you to install or update Flash when you already have the Flash 10 plugin installed. This is not a problem with your Mozilla browser or your Flash plugin, but with certain websites that misidentify Flash 10 as Flash 1 due to a faulty detection scheme. Contact the website and ask them to correct the problem or, on Windows, you can try the site in Internet Explorer, since the Flash ActiveX detection may work even though the plugin detection does not."
As a publisher, how do I correct this problem?
I have searched several forums for answers to this issue - if there is an existing thread that offers a solution, I apologize in advance. I could not find it.
Best,
JCD2

That's why I suggested posting to the flash player forum.  There are a lot of people complaining bitterly how they can't install FP10.  Maybe some or most of them are having the problem you're talking about.  I wasn't there long but I didn't see anyone with your take on the issue.  You might find a solution there then you could come back and share with us

  • The embeded swf doesn't play...

    Hi
    I'm trying to embed a swf that was created with a flash gallery making program into a pdf file but it just never works properly. I've also tried converting it into pdf but that doesn't work either. Once I convert it/embed it all I see is a white/black square. However if I embed other smaller swfs most of them just work fine. Could the problem be that the swf is too large? Can anybody please figure out the problem? I've been trying everything for the past 3 days and I'm awfully desperate Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated!

    Acrobat and OS make no difference, but the version of Flash Player that the gallery targets will make a difference - Acrobat and Adobe Reader currently won't play content designed for Flash Player 11.
    The other problem can arise when the gallery is using external assets (image files, XML configuration files, etc.) as these must be available after embedding. You should attach them using the Resources tab on the Rich Media Annotation dialog box (right-click your embedded SWF in Acrobat and choose Properties), but if the gallery is written to expect certain folder structures it may not like being sandboxed inside a PDF file.

  • Firefox doesn't play embedded swf

    I've looked on many forums, including Firefox, with no real answer. Running Firefox 4. It just doesn't play embedded SWF. My Adobe Flashplayer is up to date, so is the plugin. The page displays properly. But the area that should be displaying a movie is just represented by a tiny square. No error message appears. The same page doesn't show the movie in IE9 either.
    Now from looking at the page information, it just requires Flashplayer 6 and above for the SWF area. I do have Flashplayer 10. The plugin says Shockwave Flash player 10 is up to date. Many other pages with different types of embedded movies play properly.

  • Acrobat Printer doesn't recognize SWF as a printable file form

    Acrobat Printer doesn't recognize SWF (even if a static/single frame file), as a printable file format! Please fix the issue,
    I am confronted with 'The file cannot be printed. Please try opening the file with the correct application and printing from there' and The issue is encountered while dragging one/many SWF into Acrobat Printer's  printing list.  Its displays that troublesome  error.
    And, please add CRTL+P feature to print an SWF from Flash Player Standalone.

    No, that doesn't work for me.  And things seem to be inconsistent.  Where it lets you vary the file size (small/medium/large/actual) when large and actual are the same, it doesn't send the actual jpeg file for windows to open.  When large and actual size files are different when you toggle between the two, the file seems to go through to my windows pc ok.  When I tried this through preview, that's when I noticed this difference, not through just email or Aperture yet.  Help!

  • AIR app doesn´t recognize SWF files

    Hi
    I have done an AIR app (in Flex). One of the features of it needs external SWF files to be browsed in a text field. Everything has worked very well for couple of years, but now I got a report from a client who uses that app. He says that AIR app doesn´t recognize SWF files anymore. When he clicks browse button, a normal file selection dialog opens but all the SWF files are greyed out.
    He send one SWF file to me and it worked well in my computer/AIR app. Anybody have any idea what may cause that? He has used my app a lot, and two weeks ago it worked normally. He uses mac, not sure whis version, quite new I suppose.

    Hi,
    That's odd that this just started occurring for the customer.  A couple of things come to mind, first, are you using FileFiters when you call browseForOpen()?  If you are, could you try a test where you remove them and then see if the swf's become enabled?  Do the swf files have extensions on the mac?  If not, try adding them and see if that makes a difference.
    If you'd like, I can also give this a try since I have both platforms available to me.  Could you attach or email me ([email protected]) some sample code and a sample swf that would illustrate the problem?
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Re: embedding SWF into HTML

    I don't seem to be able to add to the discussion! Hans wanted the url of the file that works: http://claudinegrandjean.com/Me.- html this is the one that doesn't please forget the placement of the SWF I could fix it if it worked; Cheers, Claudine

    No. I mean that the Flex framework makes certain assumptions about the environment it is running in -- like having a stage to work with. The Alert function, for example, works by creating a sprite and adding it to the Flash display list. Since your embedded SWF is not on a stage, there's no way for it to work.
    You can can possibly use certain non-visual parts of the framework, such as the rpc package, but I can't guarantee it.

  • Is there a script for an audio controller linked to an embedded swf?

    Is there a script for an audio player or controller that has some functions like play resume stop for an embedded swf file?  I would use buttons for this purpose but for some reason, when I click on the pause button on the pdf, and then click on resume, playback resumes five seconds before the point at which I paused. And i would prefer to rely on just using the built in player in the pdf but the quicktime player doesn't play the swf smoothly; it freezes.

  • How to make a Loadvars sendAndLoad request from embedded swf in flex

    I've developed a simple flex app with embedded swf. Basically swf use Loadvars to get data from particular database table. Ok, when I tested the flex app on localhost it is works fine and embedded swf make its sendAndLoad calls correctly.
    But! When it is located on the web server swf not work correctly. I meant there is not returned values by sendAndLoad method.
    Well, to make some points: questionContentLoadVars.img1 holds(return) the string from php call. This "img1" is an empty returned string only in Flex app placed in the web server otherwise it returns correct value from php call?
    When gameplay22.swf is standallone works!
    When gameplay22.swf is in HTML page works!
    When gameplay22.swf is embedded in FLex and executed in LOCALHOST works!
    But in the web server this embedded gameplay22.swf doesn`t works!
    What is the problem with it?
    //* here is flash(swf) part of gameplay22.swf file which is embedded in the Flex by SWFLOader(gameplay22.swf)
        questionContentLoadVars = new LoadVars();
        questionContentLoadVars.onLoad = function(success){
        if (success){
        slidingSvityk_mc.descripTA_mc.description_ta.text = questionContentLoadVars.theContent;
        else
        slidingSvityk_mc.description_ta.text = "err!";
        function loadQuestionData(sectionID){
        var tablename ='questionsgeo';  // database tablename
        //sending variables to the PHP script
        questionContentLoadVars.row = sectionID;
        questionContentLoadVars.tablename = tablename;
        questionContentLoadVars.id_ = "";
        questionContentLoadVars.img1 = "";
        questionContentLoadVars.sendAndLoad("getQuestionRec.php",questionContentLoadVars,"_POST") ;
        function showLoadedGalleryImages():Void{
        infphp.text = questionContentLoadVars.img1;
        var img1Bulk:MovieClip = new MovieClip();
        img1Bulk = imgGalleryContainer_mc.img1Bulck_mc.createEmptyMovieClip(img1Bulk, _root.getNextHighestDepth());
        img1Bulk._x = 0;
        img1Bulk._y = 0;
        image_mcl.loadClip(questionContentLoadVars.img1, img1Bulk);
        //* And here is Flex part of embedded SWFLOader(gameplay22.swf) component
        <s:SWFLoader includeIn="user" width="1024" height="768" horizontalCenter="0" source="gameplay22.swf" verticalCenter="0"/>

    Thanks kglag, for trying to help,
    As i posted in another forum the problem was in the free flex example which i used to add another state and by using SWFLoader to  embed my swf file.
    Now i was created my own flex app and add SWFLoader to embed my swf and voila - it works!
    There is no cross-domain loads  the loaded content is in the same domain.
    So, again thanks!

  • WAD: Problems when exporting to PDF with embedded .swf

    I'm using Web Application Designer (WAD) 7 and have created a template with an "Export to PDF" button and an embedded .swf flash file which is an Xcelsius dashboard.
    What i'm trying to do is show the information I want on my dashboard and then export that to a PDF to email out to multiple users who would be interested in the data each month.  If exporting to PDF isn't the best route to get a snapshot of this dashboard out to other users and there's an easier way please let me know, but here are the issues i'm having:
    1) When I have the dashboard showing the information I want and click the "Export to PDF" button, the dashboard reloads as the PDF settings window pops up and gets reset back to it's initial state.
    2)  If I ignore problem #1 and click on 'OK' in the Export dialog anyway after selecting PDF settings, my Adobe Reader pops up but then shows a message saying "The file cannot be opened because it has no pages".  Basically it doesn't see the .swf as being a component to take a snapshot of and print on a PDF. I did try adding a text component just so there was something on the template and I then get a PDF with that text component showing and no .swf snapshot.
    Has anyone come up with a workaround for this?  I've tried using the BEx Broadcaster with the 'Send' option but get the same results in regards to the blank page.
    Thanks as always for the help!

    Thanks for the reply.
    The dashboard is connected to a query in NetWeaver BI to get its data.  So the request of the user is to be able to adjust the dashboard to show the information they need (well say of a certain region) and then take a snapshot of that and email it out to co-workers in Group A.  Then the user will adjust the dashboard to show other data (for a different region we'll say) and take a snapshot to email out to co-workers in Group B. etc and etc.
    I have looked into installing a PDFCreator print driver but that wouldn't be feasible to get it on all machines in the business.  I've also looked into getting it as a .jpeg which would suffice, but am unsure if there is a way to do it with script and connect that to the dashboard when a button is pushed (will look into this).  This seems like a topic for over in the Xcelsius forum now.
    I used the following code within the <body></body> tags of the WAD's xhtml to embed the .swf:
    <object id="dashboard" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0" height="600" width="800" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" >
    <param name="Movie" value="bwmimerep:///sap/bw/mime/Customer/JavaScript/dashboard.swf" />
    <embed src="bwmimerep:///sap/bw/mime/Customer/JavaScript/dashboard.swf" name="dashboard" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" />
    </object>

  • Loaded swf does not recognize stage of parent correctly

    I have an issue that is probably easily solved, but my attempts to solve it have been frivolous.
    I am creating a “lightbox” to display artwork, but I have come across a slight hiccup.
    I am executing the lightbox functionality from a swf file that is loaded by a parent swf.  For testing purposes, when the lightbox button is clicked, the image should fill the entire stage.  Even though both the loaded swf and the parent swf recognize the same stage dimensions at all times(validated through tracing statements) and the lightbox image is positioned to the top/left corner of the stage, the image instead aligns to the top/left corner of the loaded swf.  And if the stage is resized after the lightbox image is displayed, the container MC (which is located in the parent swf and centers all the site’s content) re-aligns to the top/left corner of the stage .
    To better illustrate these points, click the link below to see some screenshots with captions:
    http://newsite.katech.com/assets/images/lightbox_screenshots.jpg
    Also, here is the code applicable code from the loaded swf:
    stop();
    picture.visible = false;
    picture.x = 0;
    picture.y = 0;
    picture.width = stage.stageWidth;
    picture.height = stage.stageHeight;
    lightboxBtn.buttonMode = true;
    trace("embedded swf says the stage is " + stage.stageWidth + " X " + stage.stageHeight);
    function onStageResize(event:Event):void
                    trace("embedded swf says the stage is " + stage.stageWidth + " X " + stage.stageHeight);
                    picture.x = 0;
                    picture.y = 0;
                    picture.width = stage.stageWidth;
                    picture.height = stage.stageHeight;
    stage.addEventListener(Event.RESIZE, onStageResize);
    function showImage(event:MouseEvent):void
                    picture.visible = true;
    lightboxBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, showImage);
    And for the applicable code from the parent swf:
    stop();
    trace("MAIN swf says the stage is " + stage.stageWidth + " X " + stage.stageHeight);
    //aligns site content to center of stage
    function onStageResize(event:Event):void
                    trace("MAIN swf says the stage is " + stage.stageWidth + " X " + stage.stageHeight);
                    container.x = (stage.stageWidth/2) - (container.width/2);
                    container.y = (stage.stageHeight/2) - (container.height/2);
                    if (container.x < 0)
                                    container.x = 0;
                    if (container.y < 0)
                                    container.y = 0;
    stage.addEventListener(Event.RESIZE, onStageResize);
    How can I get the loaded swf to display the lightbox image correctly in respect to the parent swf?  What am I doing wrong?

    I have still yet to resolve this issue on my own, if anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Also, when I updated my previous post something "screwy" happened with the edit, so I went back and corrected the mistakes in case it made things unclear.
    Thanks.

  • Embedded swf fiile in exported .exe movie not working

    I have exported a movie as a stand alone .exe file. The movie
    has a flash file embedded in it. When it plays on my own computer
    it works fine, but when it plays on another computer, it will show
    a solid red box for a couple seconds in a couple of different
    spots...all within the embedded swf file. Can anyone give me an
    idea why this might be occurring? I am thinking it has something to
    do with an SWF embedded in an EXE file, but really don't have a
    clue!

    I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. Only I have large
    portions of a very large EXE file delivered in red pages. It is
    irregular, too; before I left work yesterday, the entire file
    played fine. Reloading and rerunning it this morning, on the same
    machine, shows the red pages again. I'm experimenting to see if
    it's a loading/buffering problem by letting it cycle through a
    couple times, to see if that improves it. If it doesn't however, we
    have had better success splitting the file in two. But that
    presents it's own problems to link them to run as a single loop.
    I'll be very interested in knowing the solution to this, too.
    Oooo! I just found a useful reply to the same issue from a
    Captivate Consultant. Search under General forums, keyword 'red',
    and look for the title 'Screen goes red'. Here's what the solution
    reads:
    Check:
    1) Display time for the animation may need to be adjusted a
    tiny amount, or
    2) Frame rate for the animation may need to be changed if it
    conflicts with the movie frame rate.
    It only seems to happen on slides that contain animations
    because it is the animation that is causing the problem, so
    "tweaking" its settings can usually solve the problem.
    Hope this helps.
