Embedding video in PPT

I need to create a multimedia presentation, a script that includes some brief video as well as audio clips. The script will be created in Adobe Story, converted to PDF, imported into PowerPoint (where the audio and video are to be added), then once again converted to PDF to be uploaded onto a podcast channel.
I assume that I can create the video files with iMovie, which I have only used once or twice before, or perhaps Quicktime, which I have never used to create files, only to view them. I plan to use GarageBand to create the audio. How do I get the video files into PowerPoint? Do I need a video converter? If so, what do you recommend, preferably something that's free or very inexpensive? This is for a class project, and it's not the kind of thing I'm likely to be using after the semester is over.

Hi,
you don't integrate a video, you link to a video which should be there:
http://c.brightcove.com/services/viewer/federated_f9/24273236001 ?isVid=1&publisherID=987386875 and loking for it I get this message:
Do I look into your source code I get this:
what means something like that your videofiles are inoperative.
If the video-files are yours, I suggest again that you try it so, as I have described. Tentatively, I integrated one of my swf-files into your source code, which was successful without any problems.

  • Why won't YouTube embedded video play from PowerPoint?

I have followed the normal process to embed video in PowerPoint 2010 (32 bit), and playback worked without issues a couple of months ago.  Now it does not.  I have completed all of the troubleshooting tips, and reinstalled latest FlashPlayer 32-bit, etc.  When I go to play the embedded video in PPT, the following message appears:
"To play the selected item, you must install a later version of the Adobe Flash Player. To download the Adobe Flash Player, go to the Adobe website."
There does not appear to be any settings changed in browser (IE / Chrome), Windows Media Player, or PowerPoint.
    Need a solution.

I went back to the embedded video code from YouTube, captured it and pasted it into the "insert video from Web site" and then deleted both "version=3" instances in the code:
    <object width="420" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/od8cUvPyvsg?hl=en_US&version=3&amp;rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/od8cUvPyvsg?hl=en_US&version=3&amp;rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="420" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>
That seemed to do the trick!
Many thanks for that help.  Not sure what caused prior embedded videos to no longer play - that still is baffling, because I hadn't done anything with the code until today.
    Gracias!

  • Embedded videos from Presenter won't play/sync

I have a couple embedded videos in a PPT that I've published from Presenter to Adobe Connect.  When I get to the slide with the video in the Connect meeting, the section with the video is blank.  However, if I turn off the Sync, I get the play bar and can manually play it, but it does not sync to the group (obviously with sync being disabled).
How can I set it up so I can manually play the video and keep the attendees synced to the video, as well?

    Hi,
You can get the playbar even in the sync mode. Click on share pod's dropdown menu and click on Show Presentation playbar option from the dropdown.
You will then see the playbar similar to what you see in un-sync mode and you can then play the video. Let us know if this did the trick for you!

  • Recently having a problem viewing youtube clips embedded on to ppt

As a lecturer, I often insert youtube clips onto my ppt. Until about a month ago, I never had problems viewing the embedded youtube clips on my powerpoint files. Now, after having succesfully embedded the video clips, I keep getting this message as shown in the screen shot below. I have installed the newest version of flash player numerous times (my OS is Window Vista and the Flash Player version I have is 11.7.700.169, AND I mostly use Firefox but have the same problem on IE), turned off and back on several times, and uninstalled and reinstalled the Flasy Player many times, but nothing would work. I have tried embedding other youtube images as well as tried doing the same thing on other computers and I run into the same problem. I KNOW how to embed youtube videos into ppt files as I had done it a lot of times with no problem. I don't assume I am the only one experiencing this problem. Please help!
PS: Sorry, didn't know the screenshot doesn't work here. So the message I get is "To play the selected item, you must install a later version of the Adobe Flash Player. To download the Adobe Flash Player, go to the Adobe website."

  • Embedded videos do not show up on certain webstites.

Embedded videos on certain websites (perezhilton.com) do not appear. I have downloaded Firefox's most recent update and that is when the problem started. I downloaded Google Chrome and the videos do appear and work fine on that browser.

You may have to install additional plugins.

  • Embedded videos in many websites won't open.

I have found that the embedded videos on many but not all websites won't open now when I'm browsing in Firefox. I am running 27.0.1. I have Adobe Flash Player installed so that's not an issue. As some examples of non-openers: Embedded videos in some of the news articles on Yahoo!'s home page; videos on the davidlynchfoundation.org site. I tried disabling the "Adblock Edge" add-on, but it didn't change anything. In many cases, their is a big empty space in the text where the video should be, i.e. there isn't any indication that there's a video there. In other cases, I click on the visible start icon, but the screen of the vid just goes to black.
When I switched to Safari, all of these embedded videos opened without a hitch. I'd rather continue with Firefox, but will have to switch to Safari if we can come up with a "fix" for this problem.
I have a MacBook running Snow Leopard. This is a new problem which I haven't experienced with Firefox previously.
BTW: I have only minimal tech skills.
Thanks for any advice/help you can provide.
    Dave

    Hi Yogidave,
It sounds like the videos are not loading properly. If there are not video controls, but there is a space for the video, this means that the item is loading, but the player is not loading.
    In understanding what you tried:
I tried disabling the "Adblock Edge" add-on - it looks like this is no longer in the list of add ons that you have in the troubleshooting information, when you took this out, do the videos still leave space in the page where the video should be?
The examples you used: Yahoo homepage and the davidlynchfoundation: I know the latter uses an embedded youtube video with has its own video player that uses flash, as well at Yahoo. (I am not sure if all the videos are flash in Yahoo)
Since this is the case, can you please check your extensions to see if you have Flash installed or if you have it disabled? If so, please turn it on and visit the sites that are giving you issues to see if this resolves the problem.
This article has pretty simple instructions how to install the player if it is not there[[Install the Flash plugin to view videos, animations and games]]
The only other test I can suggest is to see if another type of embedded video does the same thing. For example, if you have netflix or hulu, see if those video players do the same thing.
I hope this helps. (also I tested those pages in beta and it loads just fine, you are not short of watching videos again in firefox)

  • How do I make a thumbnail that has a gallery inside? And how can I make this gallery have embeded videos from vimeo + Images?

    Hello,
I'm pretty new to Muse so I don't know a lot about it, but I researched a lot and didn't find an answer to this question.
I'm trying to make a portfolio website. The website will be a 12 thumbnails. But each thumbnail is one project, not an image.
When you click one of the thumbnails, I want it to be a lightbox that will show embeded videos from vimeo mixed with images.
    Ex: A coca-cola projet.
Main page has a thumbnail of a coca cola image. When you click on it, it opens a lightbox with a coca-cola film, when i click to the right arrow, it shows a cocacola poster, then another poster, then another video. (but they are all part of this gallery, that is inside the thumbnail.
    Can you guys help me?
    Thanks!!!

I don't understand why my thumbnails don't work.
I dragged a composition lightbox inside another one. But I still have the first lightbox there and can't delete.
When I try my wabsite i see this:
But then I click the thumbnail and I see this:
And when I click one of those 3 I see this:
Like it is making a double lightbox.
but it doesn't show the images, it's like the first lightbox is on top of the second one.
How I deal with this?  =/

  • After updating to Flash version 11.6.602.171 - can no longer play any embedded videos..and worse

To begin with, I'm running a clean AMD 64 Bit Windows 7 System.  Never any problems with any of my video playing scenarios - until now - with this version 11.6.602.171.
After downloading and installing both versions - both for Firefox (other browsers) and IE, none of my browsers can play videos unless they are at their lowest resolution of 240.
So I used the Adobe Flash Uninstaller and ensured that the last vestages of Flash Player were removed - and reinstalled - all to no avail.
Then I downloaded the archived version of 10.3 to see if a previous version would work.  But that wouldn't work either.  None of my browsers will play videos now and I'm talking:
    IE 10
    Firefox 19.01
    Avant Browser
    Google Chrome
    Google Chromium
    Commodo Dragon
    Commodo Ice Dragon
    Opera
    Waterfox
    Pale Moon
    None will play the video.
What you get is the video screen but unless you have a 240 option (lowest resolution), all you get is a green screen.  You hear the talking/music, but there is no picture and all the green screen does is flash.  Here's a JPG of the screen.  If you put your cursor anywhere on the progress meter (arrow) it will show you a small image of what's supposed to be playing (see below), but the screen remains green and flashes while playing.
Now here is where it gets interesting.  When I completely uninstall Adobe Flash Player and then go to a You Tube embedded video (on any site), there first appears a screen that tells you that you need a plug-in - but then within seconds (without downloading anything), the movie starts playing normally.
I then checked my Firewall (Zone Alarm) - turned it off temporarily - that wasn't the problem.  Then checked my latest version of Avast AntiVirus software and temporarily turned it off - that was not the problem either.  The videos still won't work and remain green unless you use the lowest resolution.
So this new version 11.6.602.171 has become a nightmare - but I'm afraid it messed up my system big time and I don't know what to do to alleviate this.
Crying HELP!!!!!!!!!!   Is there something I'm overlooking.  I'm now screwed - way to go Adobe for releasing such a faulty software product.

It sounds like we've got a number of *different* problems on this thread.  I'll try and respond to a few of them.
@filter 2.5 and everyone else running into a green screen issue.  Please try the solution outlined in the post below to see if it will allow you to use hardware acceleration.  The other alternative is to try a different ATI driver.

@pipseer - Somehow Internet Explorer's activex filtering was enabled on your system.  This troubleshooting is also described in this FAQ: ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer
@Sahloknir - For the sound issue, we're going to want your system specs.  Please start a new thread with:
    Operating   system
    Browser
    Flash   Player version
    Dxdiag Report Instructions
Sometimes video and audio problems are caused at a lower level and not directly related to Flash Player.  I recommend trying both of the links below to see how they perform.  If the problem exists with both, then Flash Player is most likely not the culprit as the HTML5 video link does not use Flash Player when playing.  You can verify the use of HTML5 by right clicking the HTML5 video and looking for the words "About HTML5" at the bottom of the context menu.
    HTML5   video
    Non-HTML5 video
@mem2013 - The Flash Player update service will not impact Flash Player's performance.  This is a separate service that runs for just an instant on your system once an hour (if you have automatic updates enabled.)  Changing it from manual to automatic shouldn't make any difference.

    Tools-> Clear Recent History -> [v] Cache

Youtube may have made some changes recently. Clear the Youtube cookie and refresh page if above does not do it.

  • IPad 3-Audio no longer working Embedded videos

Recently, I have run into the problem of embedded videos playing with no sound.  For example, if I click on a video link to YouTube  in Facebook the video plays silently.  However, the same video will play properly if I open it in a browser.  I'm not sure, but I think this began happening before the latest operating system update.  BTW, other sounds have randomly been disappearing too like the click when the cover closes.

do a reset all settings [settings/general/reset/reset all settings] no data will be lost
if that doesnt work then a Restore is in order

  • Embedding video and audio for internet flipbook

    Dear All,
first of all, sorry if it's been asked before but I could not find direct answer.
My company, small translation agency in Poland, plans on to buy InDesign to improve quality of our output documents, but we have one more feature in mind and we don't know if InDesign CS6 supports this.
In a movie http://tv.adobe.com/watch/cs55-design-standard-feature-tour/create-more-compelling-ebooks- with-indesign-cs55/ Terry White presents how to make an eBook with embedded video. We need a solution to create a similar effect, but the final document would be accessible from WWW (eg. http://essentialabsurdities.com/dance/ - there is no video in the example) - we want people to be able to browse content like in a book (flipbook?) and access video and audio (embedded or stored on a serwer along the document) when needed.
Does InDesign support this? What should be the final format of such a document? Interactive PDF? SWF? Everybody says Flash is going to be retired soon (Apple does not support it, Android devices are soon to follow, the same for PCs in the nearest future probably) so we do not want to use this.
Many thanks for your opinions on the issue.
    Best wishes,
    Michal Kornacki

I have no incoming video for my Jabber account. I was doing some testing for one of my customers who had this issue. Here is what I found. I have a EX90 registered to VCS on a corporate network. I have my Jabber Express client I downloaded and installed. When I call to or from either I don't receive video on Jabber Express but I get audio from the EX90. I get Audio and video on the EX90 from Jabber. What I found when I was troubleshooting is that if you leave the call up for 30 seconds I finally start recieving video on Jabber from the EX90. After testing a few calls this happened every time. I then checked the call settings on both sides during the call. Both endpoints are experiencing 50% or so packet loss until the video started being sent to Jabber and then the packet loss dropped to 0. So I would assume there is something wrong on the Jabber Express end that is causing a 30 second or so delay when the video is being sent through the proxy. Has anyone else had this exact issue?

  • How do I get an embedded video in Keynote on my ipad to play when i transfer it to a pc powerpoint

    Hi Everyone,
I need help I have made a keynote presentation on my ipad with an embedded video in it.  I transfered it to a pc as a powerpoint and all the slides worked except the video it just was a black slide.  Can you transfer it so that it will work?  Do you have to embed the video in a special way.
    Thanks for the help

iTunes on the iPad is a link to the store only.
It is used to buy media.
To listen to music or audio(podcasts, audiobooks) go to the music app.
For movies, tv shows or music videos you use the videos app.

  • [Solved] embedded videos in firefox take a lot of CPU time

Playing embeded videos in Firefox take a lot of CPU time. Actually my old computer is not able to play these videos correctly if they are in HD. The problem appears with flash videos (not so surprising, flash sucks...) but also with html5 videos (there is an option in youtube to turn that on). However if I succeed to have the direct URL, these videos play perfecrtlky fine in mplayer using not more than 10-20% of CPU time. Is there a solution to that? Is there any possibility to use an external player to play HTML5 videos in firefox? If anybody knows, Why this problem, are the mozilla folk aware of this problem? (Note that I posted a thread a long time ago for this problem but concerning flash only)

There's not much you can do to make HTML5 videos as fast as Xv, see http://swfdec.freedesktop.org/wiki/FAQ. They are slow for the same basic reason as Flash... the video overlay cannot be used because the standard allows for controls and CSS to be rendered on top of the video.
As for redirecting to an external player... this is not as easy as it could be. If the videos appeared in <embed> tags or <object> tags, one could use Mozplugger, Media Player Connectivity and other programs, but I don't think one has been written to handle the <video> tag. An upcoming update to firefox will make it use gstreamer, however. If this still results in slow playback, it will at least make it easier to use an external player. I imagine you would have to patch firefox to make it use a port on the localhost as the video sink instead of the screen. Then you would run gst-launch to receive that RTP stream.

  • All embedded videos in internet articles and on Youtube play sound but no picture

My problem only started about 2 weeks ago . Before that I could directly play any video that was on Youtube or any video embedded in an internet download.
Now the video plays, in the sense that I have sound and the elapsed-time bar moves along the bottom of the screen, but there is no video picture, just a full green screen. This applies to any video on Youtube or embedded in an internet download.
I can still play any video that I have previously downloaded to my PC, be it Flash Video file or MP4 file.
The players installed on my PC are the latest versions of Windows Media Player, VLC Media Player, Media Player Classic and Adobe Flash Player.
The problem started at about the same time there was a major upgrade to my Avast free antivirus program (to version 8.0.1482) but this is probably a red herring, as I find it hard to believe that could have anything to do with the problem.
I have also tried on Internet Explorer and the problem is just the same, so it is not Firefox specific.
    Can anyone offer a solution?
    Regards,
    Barry

    Thanks cor-el,
I disabled protected mode in Flash, as per the instructions in the link you provided, but it made no apparent difference.
I can't find how to disable the hardware acceleration in the flash plugin. Can you help me there?
I did disable the Shockwave Flash plugin as a trial and immediately the videos appeared again in imbedded videos in internet downloads. Why disabling Shockwave Flash allowed these pictures to appear I don't know.
It is not practical, however, to leave Shockwave Flash disabled because many of the embedded videos use Flash so I can't view them.

    Barry

  • Embedded video in PDF shows blank

    Hi,
I am using Acrobat 9 Pro. I have a PDF and a .mp4 video on a web-server. The mp4 is about 26 Mb in size. If I open the video on the browser (IE) it works.
However when I embed this video in my PDF using a 'Video tool' it plays only the audio and does not show the video. I read somewhere about the file name length. the file name is ps1.mp4.
Can someone please help resolving this.
    Thanks in adavance.

Does this only affect one video, or every PDF you open with embedded video content?
If the latter it is probably an issue with your video card. First, I'd try disabling hardware acceleration in Acrobat's preferences > page display, and switching to software mode on preferences > 3D and multimedia > preferred renderer.
