Embedding video to an embedded flash file

Hello people. I'm building a site with a flip book component.
The book is a movie and then I load the pages via an XML file. The
pages are SWF files. You can see the book at
http://www.thiez.com/evf/main.htm
Now, If I add a video on a particular page by embedding it in
the flash movie, I will be able to see it when I test that
particular page, but it wont show when I test the whole book. So
basically, my problem is: the video shows ok in the file where it
is embedded but not in the main SWF file that calls the SWF file
containing the video. Any idea will be appreciated.

No they are not. The pages are withing a folder called
"Pages", and the FLV files too. The main book file that calls the
pages is on the root folder. I'm not at home now, so I will have to
wait until I can test this, but you think this might be the issue?
Thanks a lot for your input, I'll let you know as soon as I
check that out.

  • Help required in embedding flash file object into Crystal Report file.

    Hello,
          I use the default version of Crystal Report (i.e.'Crystal Report Basic For Visual Studio 2008 - version 10.5' ) which is the part of 'Visual Studio 2008', to create and display the Report. Further, as a requirement, I have to show 'Event Video' into the Report. But, as this default version of Crystal Report does not support Flash File, I uninstalled it and downloaded and installed the 30 days trial version of the Crystal Report (i.e. Crystal Report 2008 - version 12.0).
          Then, I created a new Crystal Report File using 'Crystal Report 2008 Designer', embedded the video as a Flash File(i.e. SWF file) into it. Now,  when I add this newly created Crystal Report File into my sample application, which is created using VS 2008, it does not shows the embedded video.
          So, can anybody please tell me, how can I embed the Flash File into Crystal Report, so that it will be visible in the sample application?
    I would like to appreciate your help and support.
    Thanks,
    -Yogesh.

    Symptom :
    When embedding a pdf document into a Crystal Report, only the one page shows.
    Reproducing the Issue
    Environment:
    Crystal Reports OLE object
    Cause
    An OLE object only displays the first page.
    Resolution
    Embed multiple objects, one for each page
    Or
    Use a hyperlink to the object instead
    Hope this helps!

  • Synching Issues with Self-Paced Learning and Embedded Flash Files

    Hi Everyone,
    I'm having some issues with my files not properly synching or displaying when Self-Paced Learning is active.
    Here is my set-up:
    Captivate 5
    5 separate Captivate files combined using the Aggregator
    Each Captivate file is about 15 slides
    Each slide contains an audio file (for closed-captioning) and a single SWF file - the content is all created with Flash and then inserted into Captivate using Insert > Animation
    Each SWF file is back 1/10 of a second from the beginning of the Cap timeline (otherwise there are rewind issues when the user selects the slide they are currently viewing from the ToC)
    Each embedded SWF has the beginning and ending fade built into it; Captivate is not doing any fading
    Synch to Project is selected for each embedded SWF (although it doesn't seem to work all the time)
    Self-Paced Learning is active, as well as, Enable Navigation
    It is not being loaded to an LMS or using any built-in Captivate quiz features.  These are instead custom built AS3 Flash files that are embedded.
    Windows 7, 4GB RAM, 1GB Video Card, High-end Processor, etc... a beast.
    The Issue:
    When the user opens the course, views it for a while and then closes it and returns it will display the first slide of the course for a moment before jumping to the bookmarked slide.  This slight timing misstep causes the bookmarked slide to get out of synch.  It will sometimes not display the bookmarked slide at all or it will cut-off a small bit from the end of the slide (even with Synch to Project active).  It sometimes works fine but randomly will break.  The course is set to 100% preload and nothing is being loaded from an external location.  It seems to work fine until Self-Paced Learning is activated.
    I don't think this is a common development approach for Captivate but it has been very successful with some clients.  Has anyone encounted similar issues or does anyone have some suggestions that might resolve this problem?
    Thanks!
    Greg

    It's been mentioned many times on this forum that nesting Captivate SWFs inside other Captivate SWFs gives rise to all kinds of strange issues.  Captivate was not designed to work this way. If you choose to do it, and you encounter issues (as you have done) there's usually NOT a lot you can do.  There are just too many ways the SWFs can get into bun fights over which one does what.
    I suggest you rethink your approach to avoid nesting.

  • Embeded Flash files stop loading part way through after update to 10.2

    Hello, I am currently having an issue with Flash. After the last update to 10.2, flash files, both audio and video, stop loading part way through them and do not start up again. For instance, on youtube, about 2 minutes worth of video will load but load slowly and then stop completely. The only way to get it to advance is to click past the section that has loaded and it will load the next 2 minutes. On Myspace Music, a song plays about 40 seconds each time and stops completely and will not load anymore, even if I try to skip to another part of the song. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit edition with Firefox 4.0 Beta 12 64 bit edition as well. Also I have tried clearing my cache, cookings, temp files, removing and installing Flash countless times, including older versions, as well as tried Google Chrome and IE. All give me the exact same issue no matter what I do. It is really frustrating because I cannot watch or listen to anything embeded in Flash online without having to keep clicking the next section every little bit. If anyone can help, please do and I thank you.

    Hi, Since your OS is a 64bit, are you using the 32bit browser for IE? I see you have the FF beta. Have they come out with a 64bit browser? I don't follow the FF beta so if that's true, it's news to me.
    Let me know,
    Thanks,

  • Embedding flash files in pdf

    Hello,
    as far as I know, it is now possible to include flash movies in pdf files that can then be viewed with Adobe Reader.
    I am more interested in controllable flash files with for instance, a slider that control a mathematical parameter of a curve for instance.
    Let's simply imagine the function f(x)=sin(ax) where parameter could be controlled by a slider to graphically see how f(x) depends on a.
    Is this possible with flash files? If yes, could then these files be embedded in pdf files?
    thank you

    You can embed any SWF file in a PDF using the tools in Acrobat Pro. There are security restrictions on local file access and shared storage of data, but in terms of graphical display and interaction with the user they can do whatever you want - it's a Flash programming question rather than a PDF question.

  • Problem with Embedding Flash Files

    So I'm trying to embed a video I made in flash. I took the file and out and put it into my sites folder and copied some code to place it as an object in my web page via an html snippet. The strange thing is that when I view the video at its URL: http://web.mac.com/jlamb33/docs/success07.swf it looks fine, but when I put it into a page like: http://web.mac.com/jlamb33/AKPsi/Success.html it gets really small and I lose the controller bar. Anyone know what's going on?

    Well, the reason I created it in flash was because a lot of my friends couldn't view the video with quicktime, because they don't have it. Anyway, I tried your setup and I can't seem to get it working properly. I copied the anplayer.swf file into my sites folder and copied the code into a snippet but nothings coming up. One thing I noticed is that the source file in the code was changed from the .swf file to .flv&amp. I didn't realize that was a valid extension, but I could be wrong. Any ideas on what's going on? I republished that page with a new snippet under the working movie and as you can see...there's nothing there. http://web.mac.com/jlamb33/AKPsi/Success.html

  • Embedding Flash Files on a Blog

    Greetings to everyone. I tried this query on the Flash forum,
    and it doesn't look like anyone's biting over there, so I figured
    I'd try it here: I'm looking to embed flash files (swf & flv)
    on a Movable Type blog, but I can't seem to figure it out. I do
    this all the time with Dreamweaver, but never tried until today to
    embed Flash stuff into blog entries. I know I'm missing something
    obvious here, but I don't know what.
    I know this isn't related to Dreamweaver per se, but I think
    it must have something to do with HTML code (or else a plug-in I
    don't know about). I don't know - I'm just confused about how to do
    it!
    Any help would be greatly appreciated - thanks.

  • Problem with embedded flash file

    My flash file plays properly , when previewed in any
    of 3 browsers via Dreamweaver 8.0.2 , but never appears at all when
    I bring up the site as an anonymous viewer . I note that if I try
    and reload the whole site using a client ftp instead of the
    in-built "put" feature in DW , I get a message that "unable to
    complete ,because of problem with a file or files" ( I paraphrase)
    but that ftp program has no way of identifying which files are the
    problem- and there are 600 or so in the site ( site is
    www.OrchidsAndMore.org.uk - if it might help to see - the flash
    file should be in the middle of the first page.

    well, you can 'label' some frames to link inside your flash to those as a 'page'..
    But i've allready found it myself :-)
    I just had to put 'anchors' in place of 'labels' and than put like: 'index.html#thepage'
    super easy!
    thanks anyways

  • Opening a video in a seperate flash file

    Hi i am currently designing a site for a client and i need to be able to have 2 seperate flash files one with a video playlist in it and the other as a video player in a seperate file. Is there a way to link the 2 files and make them interact with each other?
    Would i be better doing this entirely in HTML?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    You can talk between movies using javascript as the middleman. Here's a link that provides some information on that...

  • Embedding flash files for an ebook

    Hello,
    I would like to embed 50 one minute flash videos into a 100 page ebook. Each video is about 5MB. I was told I should use Acrobat 9 to do this. Does this mean the ebook will be more than 250MB (50 x 5MB) or is there a way to compress the entire ebook?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kidd in Paris

    Not sure as I've never had that many flv's in a PDF. There is a trial available; Might as well test it yourself.

  • Working with Muliptle videos in the same flash file

    I am trying to figure out the best way (steps) to put 3
    videos into one file and allow the user to select whcih one they
    want to play at any point. Can someone please tell me if I have
    this basically correct... . (And please correct any terminolgy
    mishaps b/c I am still confused when I hear flash movie versus
    movie clip vs video vs flash video.)
    1. Convert original .wmv files to flash video files (.flv)
    2. Create individual swf files that each contain one flv with
    it's corresponding playback controls
    3. Create video 'player' that contain movie symbol instances
    that are controllable from this file.
    4. Create user control buttons to allow the user to select a
    different active movie symbol
    Does this make sense?
    Please help before I have to outsource this just to get it
    done.

  • Embedded Flash in PHP - Need help!

    Hello everyone!
    We're having problems embedding Flash-files into our .php-files, so I thought the best place to ask for help would be the official Flash-forums :-) First of all, I'll let you know what exactly we're doing....
    We have a few flash-files which you should only be allowed to view once you're logged in and authenticated to our "portal". You can only view those files over some sort of JavaScript-Popup-Flashplayer thing (personally not too much into JS). The JS-Player requires the flash-files to be available over an exisiting URL (such as http://page.domain/flash/file.swf) - And this is where the whole problem begins...
    After hours of research and conversing with my collegues and the project-management, we decided to use the following technique to still keep those URLs for the JS-Player while preventing the user from simply accessing our "top secret flash movies" by typing in the URL in their browser...
    We move the Flash-folder to a location outside of our document root -> Flash-files can't be randomly accessed or downloaded via the URL.
    We use an Apache-plugin called "mod_rewrite" to rewrite/redirect URLs that look similar to http://page.domain/flash/*.swf to a PHP-file -> We can work with REQUEST_URI to see which flash-file the user wanted to view. Now, inside that PHP file we check wether the user is authenticated or not and either embed the flash-file into the PHP-file or redirect him to an error-page. In theory, the user could still view the flash-file over the URL (without even noticing PHP, since the URL stays http://page.domain/flash/file.swf, hence a perfect fake, no? ;-) ) and everything actually works exactly the way we wanted..........IN FIREFOX!
    Now we went live with our application and we had to realise that one of the only things we haven't tested in other browsers (this being one of them) don't work the way we want and instead of viewing/playing the film, we get to see a white window in the JS-Player, while it's trying to download a file called "filename_swf" (underscore instead of dot?) when you access the movie over the URL (http://page.domain/flash/file.swf).
    How we embed Flash into PHP:
    Headers + outputting the flash-files content....
    header('Content-Type: application/x-shockwave-flash');
    header('Expires: Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 GMT, -1');
    header('Cache-Control: no-cache, no-store, must-revalidate');
    header('Pragma: no-cache');
    echo file_get_contents($request);
    As I said, this works just fine in Firefox, however we're sure most of our users will be using IE, in which it doesn't work at all. I personally believe we're missing some sort of header or we have to set a different header depending on the browser...so I thought the best place to ask about Flash Headers would be the actual flash forums. Maybe I'm even totally wrong and missing out something crucial and someone can point me in the right direction...
    Thanks!

    Thank you for your help.

  • Can HTML affect embeded FLASH

    I am trying to find out if there is any way to have the HTML
    send informaion to the embedded FLASH file. I need to change 2
    peices of information on the FLASH file when it loads on the page
    (based on the page it comes up on.) Is there a way to have the HTML
    send a message to FLASH that says use "pic_2.jpg" or a way for
    Flash to look into the HTML to find its directive. Better yet, is
    there a way to let flash know what file it is within, and search
    the XML file based on the parameter of location? Please
    help.

    Hi adjourney,
    External images should work in the same way (via flashvars).
    You can do
    this in a two step process as you suggested, or directly via
    the
    embedding variables. I'll assume you want the simpler of the
    two so you
    would do something like this:
    The HTML embedding code would look like this:
    <object
    classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000"
    codebase="
    http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,0,0"
    width="354" height="63" id="myFlashThing" align="middle">
    <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
    <param name="flashvars" value="imageFile=myImage.jpg"
    />
    <param name="movie" value="flashFile.swf" /><param
    name="quality"
    value="high" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#cccccc"
    /> <embed
    src="flashFile.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#cccccc"
    width="354"
    height="63" name="forumLogo" align="middle"
    allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" allowFullScreen="false"
    flashvars="imageFile=myImage.jpg"
    type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
    pluginspage="
    http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"
    />
    Notice that you need to include the file name two...once as a
    "param"
    and then again in the "embed" tag. This is done to compensate
    for
    differences between FireFox/Mozilla browsers and
    InternetExplorer-style
    browsers.
    In Flash, getting the image file name couldn't be easier. In
    ActionScript 2.0, this is simply available as:
    _level0.imageFile
    In ActionScript 3.0, this is available as:
    this.loaderInfo.parameters.imageFile from the class that's
    associated
    with the main movie clip (the Document class).
    Now you simply take this value and use a loadMovie or Loader
    instance to
    get your image.
    If you wanted to specify an XML file and then some identified
    within it,
    the flashvar would look something like this:
    xmlFile=data.xml&offset=5
    And this would be received as two separate values in Flash:
    _level0.xmlFile and _level0.offset (and the associated ones
    for AS 3).
    Of course this is a bit of overkill...if you're specifying a
    file and
    then hardcoding a link within that file...you might as well
    specify the
    file right off the top. But I guess that's up to you.
    Good luck,
    Patrick
