Emergency calls only after OS upgrade

Hi,
After the last main OS upgrade my phone constantly switches from having a full single to "Emergency calls only", if i restart the phone it will sometimes pick the network up again.
I thought the issue was related to the sim card at first so i got this swapped at Vodafone however this has not ressolved the issue, driving me nuts any help would be great thank you

I think your solution is to upgrade the OS. If there isn't an official upgrade from your carrier, unofficial methods (Sachesi) may be what you want to do.

My mum just gave me her old iPhone 4 and told me to wipe all the old info etc off it. So I did what I thought was factory reset, now it just has a logo of a cable pointing to something that says itunes and has a slider to slide for emergency numbers. I don't even have a mobile so don't know about iphones now I think I have seriously messed up her old phone. any advice?

I have recently got an iPhone 4 out of no where it has decided to think that my headphones are in and they are not but does work with headphones in.
Then later on within the same day it after turning my phone on and putting it on charge it comes to the screen stating to connect to iTunes/emergency calls only/no service so I connect it iTunes and it says we are unavailable to continue with your activation at this time. Please try again later, or contact customer care.

the same problem but i used it already for 3 years my iphone 4, when i update to ios 6.1.3 version, now is failure like said.

"emergency calls only" - but only sometimes!

Hi everyone,
I bought the new iphone 4, and it worked just fine. The guy at the store (mobile phones store) inserted microsim, activated the device and everything was fine untill it was turned off by me. Then, when i would power it on, it would present the "emergency calls only" screen, but not allways! if you w8 for some time, try again, you can power it on normally, and again, if you power it down, and try again, guess what: "emergency calls only".
The craziest thing is that it gets the carrier signal once i turn it on successfully, but losses it after a few moments saying "no service".
Any idea on what could be the problem here?
i tried restoring with itunes, but except for losing all the data, it didn't really help....
do you think this is a sim card issue, or some hardware issue with the iphone?

IPhone 3G stuck on emergency calls only screen. HELP!

Hi everyone, I really need some help.
I bought my jailbroken iPhone 3G from Hong Kong on eBay a few months back. Everything was working fine on iOS 4.2.1, except the battery life was very poor. After getting the battery replaced there was no improvement. So my boyfriend suggested I try restoring the phone with iTunes as it was supposed to improve the battery life.
I plugged my phone in and went through the restore process, only to receive "iTunes Error 1015". After this my iPhone went into recovery mode and stayed put. I tried using a YouTube tutorial and TinyUmbrella to help me out of the error, but it only made my phone go to the "Emergency calls only" screen and now the phone will not appear in iTunes as it says the SIM card that has worked perfectly with iTunes every other time is not supported. I am at a total loss as for what I am meant to do. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

All sorts of things can go wrong with jailbroken phones, it's never a good idea to do so. Not to mention, it means you won't be getting much help on here.

You may need to try this More than Once... Be sure to Follow ALL the Steps...
Take your time... Pay particular attention to Steps 3 and 4.
After you have Recovered your Device...
Re-Sync your Content or Restore from the most recent Backup...

Update software, up all night, emergency calls only, or restore.

Everytime I update the software I'm up all night trying to get my phone to work again. As soon as the software is loaded I get the emergency calls only screen on my phone. It takes hours of playing around, restarting, rebooting, Norton goback, you name it to get my phone to restore which takes hours. Why does a simple "upgrade" set me back so far. I have to plan it for weekends when I can stay up all night.
Help. Apple do something!!!!

While very thorough, the one thing I don't think I see in your list is unlocking your BB from it's original carrier (a prerequisite for using it on a different carrier). See this FAQ.

Emergency Call Only

Hi,
My iphone 4 has been playing up for the last couple of weeks, but now it seems a simple turn off or soft reboot won't fix it.
Basically, the phone just drops signal in the middle of something, and when I try and turn it back on, I get the emergency call only window. No matter how many times I try and turn it off, it doesn't go away.
Problem is, I tried to plug it into itunes, but itunes is saying I have a passcode so must enter that first, but cannot do that as it won't get off the emergency call window.
Any suggestions? I can't get to an apple store for another week, and I now have no way of getting in touch with people, and I have some important calls to make. These things seem to happen at the worst time!

Out of nowhere, my iphone 4 went into emergency call (in every language) and instructed me to plug into itunes. I rushed into the At&t store before closing and they had never seen a message like this. The salesman crashed it and I had to return home to reset to factory on my itunes. After asking me about backing up....it gives other warning not allowing me to continue. I can't even restore to factory. All my updates on phone and itunes are current. More frustrated that Apple support is not available 24/7 considering how huge this company is!

Razr HD 9.20.1 - Emergency Calls Only

I held off doing the OTA until i just could take the nagging popups anymore. Well, after the update completed my phone has been without service. It says EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY and there is just a triangle where the signal meter should be.
I have tried a soft reboot as well as a factory reset and no luck. I can use wifi with no problems but cannot use the phone service. My job requires me to be available 24/7 and now i have to rely on an email showing up and me seeing it to be connected.
Anyone have any ideas as to why this would happen and what I can do to fix the problem?

Try this ... turn off your phone, take out the SIM card, turn the phone on, turn the phone off, reinsert the SIM card, then turn the phone back on.
If that doesn't work, you may need to get Verizon to reactivate your phone and you probably will need a new SIM card (they're free at your local Corporate Verizon store).

Restored, now emergency calls only

So, I was having software issues with my phone. I figured the best bet would be to restore the phone. Since I wasn't sure what the issue was I decided to restore as a new phone and reload everything manually. After restoring, now I can only make emergency calls. I thought that I might have to re-register my phone since it was seeing it as a new phone, but it's not giving me the option to register it. Any help would be appreciated.

I am haveing the same problem, I did a reset all setting under setting on the Iphone then when it rebooted it was on the emergency calls only screen. I then tried to restore the phone and after it goes through the process it reboots back to th emergence calls only screen?

Emergency calls only-restore not work

Today I went to use my phone after having used it only 20 mins earlier and it had the picture of the itunes and the cord saying emergency calls only and to hook the phone to itunes.
I did this and nothing changed, still said no service. So I did a full restore of the settings back to factory. It came up with the service provider again and I loaded everything back on it. Then I went to send a message and it came up with emergency calls again.
I took the sim out and then re inserted it. Same thing.
I don't want to have to send the phone away to be fixed.
Any tips on what I could try?

I witnessed a bad traffic accident not long ago and when I tried calling 911, there was no answer at that particular time - must have been a lot of calls at that particular time, or a shift change was going on, or a number of operators were taking an extended coffee or bathroom break.
If I was in dire straights and unable to place a call, but I was with someone that could place a call on my behalf who doesn't know my passcode, I would want them to have the ability to dial any number if there was no 911 answer at that particular time.

You'll need to update your system or fine a system you can use to activate it. There's no way around it.
If you can get to an Apple store and explain the situation to them, they 'may' be able to hook you up with an OS upgrade to Leopard assuming you have a G4 or G5 mac that can handle it.

Reboot your computer
Connect the USB end of the cable to a USB port directly on the computer, not a hub
Disable your firewall and antivirus
Launch iTunes
Disconnect the phone from the other end of the cable
Hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons until the screen goes black, then release the SLEEP button but contiune holding the HOME button
Connect the cable to the phone while still holding HOME
Wait for iTunes to recognize a phone in "recovery mode", then release HOME and your phone should restore.

Restore the device.
If "Find My iPhone" is activated on the device, wipe the device via iCloud.com and then restore it.

Z30 Emergency Calls Only

Hi,
I have been using Z30 for about 3 months and it was fine until sunday. I made a call on sunday night before going to bed. When I wake up in the morning, to my surprise, i see the phone was switched to EMERGENCY CALLS mode. I swapped SIM, toggled airplane and Mobile Network. Even I tried the Network Selection mode to manual/automatic. Everything went unsuccessful.
I can use the same SIM in the other phone.
Please advise how the EMERGENCY CALLS only mode can be changed.
One more thing, 2 days before the phone OS was updated to 10.3.1.1767.

Can you try: Turn on Airplane mode --> Reset Phone (using either method I said earlier) --> Turn off airplane mode and check if signal is back ?
Also a couple of other quick questions. When you put network settings to "manual", does it show a list of available networks ?
Can you also tell me the Radio Version you have from: Settings --> About --> OS (from dropdown) ? Is it 10.3.1.2559 (just want to see if it same as my phone)
