Emergency !! Major Power Failure - Publisher / Subscriber& Connection wont start...
We have had a major outage, after power restored Publisher services wont start.
In addition Unity connection has a corrupt database and another subscriber is screwed.
However - first things first - I desperately need to get my publisher live.
I have restarted it many times now -
The GUI doesnt work and at the command line when I type
utils services list -
they are all in [STARTING] -
Uptime is now 2 hours.
Any ideas ?? Hopefully someone is working on a saturday !
Thanks for all the feedback -
I contacted TAC and raised a P1. We lost one publisher and one subscriber - we only had one working subscriber
we went down the road of SUB to PUB recovery.
At the end I downloaded the missing COP files and we were good to go.
The only 'gotcha' seems to be dial-plans - there were causing me a little heart ache and needed to be re-installed. Also MoH - but I didnt have much of that to begin with.
Apparently the underling Linux OS doesn't like sudden power downs !

MacBook Pro Power Failure After USB Connection
I purchased my MacBook Pro not even a few weeks ago. I've used an external hard disk drive with it fine.
Today however, I connected my iPad via USB and instantly the power failed, completely cut off!
Of course I removed the USB connection immediately and attempted to power on the MacBook Pro, but to no avail, I plugged the power cable and the status indicator on the power cable blinks between green and orange in no particular pattern and the battery level indicator on the MacBook Pro does not work (it did previously).
I realise that there is likely no hope with this situation other than to get a replacement, although my partner also has a MacBook Pro (2011) and this happened to his only yesterday, luckily his powered back on fine and seems to be working. Perhaps this is a software issue?
Although I'm doubtful, any help would be greatly appreciated!I also have a similar problem. Even with a full battery charge, my 11 month old MBP 15" seems to randomly do an instant and complete power-off. Like your partner, mine will seem to work fine for a few days then abruptly just fail. I am still troubleshooting but it seems to happen more frequently when I have something connected to the USB - like my hard drive for backup. Please share any further info / Resolution. I am worried I may lose everything before I can get a complete backup.

Apple TV power failure - now no connection
After powering up the Apple TV (ver 3) again (the cat had jumped on the plug box and powered it down!) it asked for date and time and hung for a while. Then I restarted it through the Apple TV menu and all was well until I realised my Mac Mini would not connect to it. The icon appeared in the menu bar but on trying to connect would just sit there for ages and eventually turn to a black color again with no connection. Have tried a restart again on ATV and Mini still no luck. My iPad will mirror to it though!
These error messages were received after the second round of restarts.
"An error occured (200500) while connecting to Airplay device Apple TV " and also
"An error occured (-6722) while connecting to Airplay device Apple TV "
Any help and or advice on what to do next is much appreciated.Hello, pfotoguy.

Configuring a EVM-HDA-6FXO for power failure
I want to add a EVM-HDA-6FXO to an exsiting EVM-HDA-8FXS/DID so if power goes out I can still have the FXO ports provide dial tone to the FXS ports.
Two emergency lines NPA-NXX-1000 comes in as a FXO and goes out a FXS port.
Can this be done. And does it work if the power is off to the router. The FXO expansion module supports a power failure port that connects directly to the central office (CO) in case of failure.

dear users,
Ive got a problem with my old toshiba laptop it is an 4220 satellite pro pentium III. I have a problem with the power i guess, the computer wont start. If i press the power on button, with the adapter in the socket power nothing happens. Now the green led for power is on but the orange led is flashing on and of, but the laptop wont start. What must i do, buy a new accu? a new adapter or is internally wrong with the laptop?Hi
Sorry but there is nothing to do. You must contact service partner. Let them check it. They can read this code and localize the defect.
I dont know in which country you live but please check the ASP list. -
Recently, i intended to download but unfortunately it's already more
than 5 attempts. Due to the slow connection and power failure, my
download failed to complete.
Would it be possible to download the application again?

After rebooting after the power failure when I go to new websites or even within some websites after clicking on a link the message box appears and I have to add a security exception to get past the message and see the link. I am using V4.0. I do not get that message on another computer using V 3.6.15.
What can I do to reset the browser?John,
That did it! I no longer get that message. The clock was set to the wrong day and time. So far it is keeping time correctly, but per your suggestion I will also check the battery.
Thanks for the prompt and accurate help.

Imac wont start up after power failure
i moved the table my imac was on and i accidentally took off the power cable.the imac was on so when i took the cable off it shut off. then i put the cable back and tried to turn it on but nothing happened..it is like dead. any suggestions?
Also, there is a small battery or capacitor on the logic board that may need to be replaced, as this has been the cause of a similar issue over many generations of Mac computer hardware. Of course there are other causes of failure, and that is why the help of an expert to troubleshoot and diagnose issues to attempt to resolve them can take time.
And it may not be resolved after the first attempt if the actual problem is deeper than first best educated guess arrived by troubleshooting. Part of some repairs requires replacement of suspect parts, even if they may not be the cause, to eliminate their being within the realm of possibility. A good read is among the original Apple Technical Service Manuals, those aren't often available to the general public. I used one to self-troublehoot an iMac under AppleCare after the nearby 200+ miles one-way distant 'specialist' could not fix my new iMac, four times. So I am a bit cool on newer Macs; the way I see it one new headache lasting 10 months and requiring 3,000 miles travel, to not be resolved by experts (and under warranty, so I can't touch it!?!) is enough.
The best cure for main power failure, is to have a good high quality battery backup system in place with automatic voltage regulation, that also works as a power filter; and can step in to isolate the Mac from mains high-or-low power fluctuation. This can save many products from bad power sources; do not rely on these, either. Make copies of your work ahead of time. This saves your computer from issues you can prevent.
PS: my Macs seldom are shut off, for up to 11 months, some of mine only get to sleep when not in use. When the main power goes offline, during a storm or extended utility failure of their own making, I will have to shut them off as a choice. There is software in the UPS unit that can help shut down automatically, and that is a choice, too. I usually find their software problematic on occasion; and the battery backup is not very long in duration, so one with a few hours runtime and a method of rationing the power if you are present when the mains fail, is helpful in performing a normal shutdown after a power failure.
Good luck & happy computing! -
After power failure iMac wont start up
I had an unexpected power outage yesterday and since that happened, I cannot get my iMac G5 to start up. I can only get as far as the gray screen. I've tried the command option P R and holding down the power button for 10 seconds and several other things, and I cant get beyond that gray screen. Im currently running Tiger on it and thought maybe I could reinstall the operating system? Ive had other power failures before and have never experienced anything like this that I couldnt start the computer. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Hi Kelly,
Do you have your data backed up? If not, do this as soon as possible.
Have you disconnected your Mac from the wall plug and let it sit about 10 or 15 minutes?
Have you tried starting in safe mode?
Have you tried booting from your install disks and running DIsk Utility "Repair Disk"?
There is always the possibility of a power outage taking out a hard drive. Especially if it is writing at the time, I recently lost one the same way. Mine had bad blocks that could not be formatted out, so I had to replace it.
Hopefully your situation is not as bad. Let us know. -
Wont power up without AC connection
Hi,
I have had my macbook since 2008 and it suddenly started with this problem - basically it won't start up without the adaptor connected... at all. It recognizes the AC is connected but is not charging. Must be a prob with the battery? Anything I can try to get it out of this funk?
Thanks!!!Hi jesstar,
For something like this it comes down to component isolation.
1.) Are you able to run the computer with just A/C power and no battery connected?
2.) If you have access to a secondary power adapter, any change to the overall situation when that is introduced?
3.) Have you reset the SMC?
4.) If you put your battery into another machine, how does that machine perform? Any change?
5.) If you have access to another battery and put that into your machine, any change?
It's quite possible that your issue is battery related. But it's also quite possible that one of the two power flow connections in the machine are causing an issue (MagSafe board, Battery Connector/Sleep-Switch sensor).
The above steps can be performed without visiting a service provider, assuming you have access to a friend, neighbor, co-worker, etc. with a similar model machine. The process of determining if the issue is "under the hood" would require the service provider / retail store. -
Restore/Repair Jabberd / iChat server after power failure
SLS 10.6.1 on Mac Mini.
I've had this happen twice, but in different ways. We've had some storms come through and knock the power out recently. Everything seems to come back online fine, except for iChat server (jabberd of course). The first time, I was getting errors about c2s and sm not being able to connect to, well, itself. I was never able to actually fix those, I have to reinstall the whole system.
This time I'm getting similar errors where the system isn't talking to itself properly. Here is the log from clicking "Start iChat" to trying to connect from client.

This is what it does when I try to connect from a client. The client just keeps getting a username/password prompts over and over. (12.34.56.78 is of course a made up IP) It will do this repeatedly with a different port number, going higher and higher. In some cases it will add "is being rate limited" This will just loop and loop until I shut iChat and Push Notifications down.

Is all of that supposed to bind to 127.0.0.1? Another posting on here said to try and reinstall just the serveressentials.pkg from the disc. I tried that on a previous install and it didn't seem to do anything. Is there any kind of repair or restore script that can be run in situations like power failures where the thing doesn't shut down gracefully? jabberd seems pretty delicate.
Thanks in advanceSure, Tim

It was working perfect before two things - power outage, and I had turned on the Firewall service because I wanted to see how it worked, but it's turned off and not even an active service.
Thanks in advance for the attempt! -
Hi
I had a power failure 2 days ago, my computer is running again, but now I cannot send email from my iPad using Cox or my gmail account. I am receiving mail in my Cox account but not my gmail account. It was working fine until the power failure. It keeps telling me, the user name or password for Gmail is incorrect. I have not changed anything. I don't know what is wrong. Can anyone help me? ThanksI agree, unplug and replug your router, then reset your iPad by holding down the sleep and home buttons, ignore the red power down slider, and wait til you see the silver apple. let it reboot and then try your connection.
Chances are rebooting the router will help. You may also need to talk to cox. They may need to reset something on their end. -

Now before anyone points out the obvious: my username and password are correct. I've already gone through changing them so I know they are.
Additionally, I've pretty much tried EVERYTHING I've read online, from messing with "terminal" (and subsequently the FTP and STFP options) to changing the sharing options and turning on file sharing/remote management as well as just turning off my Firewall completely.
Now I've used Filezilla before when I first published my site and everything worked fine. My site is published through Wordpress so most of my editing was done through simply logging into my "wp-login." I recently changed the theme and in order to change the header image in that theme I have to do it through my "wp-content" folder, which means I need to use Filezilla. I feel like a complete moron right now considering I've had my site for about a year and can't even doing something this simple.
I've read that the newer version of Lion/Mountain Lion don't support automatice FTP anymore, which (as I mentioned prior) I attempted to fix through Terminal. However, nothing I do seem to do works.
Can someone walk me through fixing this? And I do mean 'walk me through'. I'm not a tech-savvy nerd who knows all the lingo, I just know the basics so sorry if my ignorance offends you.
HELP!!First be sure login and password are OK. Sometimes the address starts wit "http://..." and sometime starts with "ftp://...". Try both normal FTP access and Scure FTP access (SFTP). At the end, contact the site's provider.

Unable to Load Windows 7 after a power failure
My windows 7 workstation was in a sleep mode when a power failure happened. after trying to power up the machine it tries to resume windows session but stucks after displaying an error unable to find saved session. it gives an option to either delete saved
session and boot or locate the session, but none of the periferal devices are responding, so I am unable to select either option.
I have a standard 102 logitech keyboard connected to that workstation. it works wen I select to enter a bios on the start up, but does not respond to any other prompts.
Any advice? In addition, try to boot into safe mode and check the results.

I purchased my MacBook Pro 13" from the Apple Store in Tucson, AZ, in mid-January. Since then, every time the Mag-Safe cord is jostled, not even disconnected, sparks fly from the power terminal on the computer, the computer shuts down, and dumps its passwords, as well as the date and time.
Any work in progress is also lost.
I work overseas, and Apple's advice was to give them my credit card number, await shipment of a new power supply and cord, and then, when I return the old power supply and cord, i'd receive a credit. That won't work, as packages from the US to my location take weeks if they arrive at all. There is no Apple Store within a reasonable distance. Or, Apple suggests, when I'm home on leave in mid-June, I should bring the computer to the Apple Store for repair--I have only days in which to do that, but I suppose I'll need to try. My concern is that I'll need to return overseas without my computer and won't be able to retrieve it for months, until my next leave.
This issue shows up elsewhere online. Is there a short in the power terminal in the computer, or on the Mag-Safe power cord, or within the computer itself? It's a known issue, thus I wonder why it hasn't been fixed.Odd, but here's a copy of Page 1 of the links I got:
