EMERGENCY-Please Reply ASAP.

Hi
We have production database(Oracle10g r2 (10.2.0.1.0)). we have following information on database.
NLS_LANGUAGE -AMERICAN
NLS_TERRITORY- AMERICA
NLS_CHARACTERSET- AL32UTF8
NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET- AL16UTF16.
NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS-BYTE
Application group tells us that they are getting problem becuase of NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS. They told us to make it CHAR instead of BYTE.Please advise me. Can i go ahead with this change? If so, what are steps i need to perform.
Regards,
RJ.

alter system set nls_length_semantics=char scope=both
It says system is altered
Butstill it is showing BYTE. I'm really not sure about the opportunity to change this parameter, but to be taken in account, you need to bounce your database.
Once more, how your application team decide that's this parameter the cause of their trouble ?
Nicolas.

  • Premiere CS5 Emergency - Please Reply ASAP

    Hi everyone,
    I'm in a real jam: I've been working on an hour long movie complete with special effects and many layers of audio, and just recently PP CS5 has frozen up. It's seemed to be gradual as I've added more and more clips, now when I open my project, it will just freeze. It seemed to get much worse after I rendered my movie in PP. I've been using 1920x1080 .mov clips straight from my DSLR and putting them into PP. I have no idea what the reason is for this; is it a random CS5 glitch? Is it a codec problem? Is my footage too big for my computer (i7 + 8GB RAM + very low end GPU)? Do I need a better computer for working with footage this big?
    I would greatly appreciate any input.

    how to put continuos (desired format) of dates in numbers spreadsheet and how to do it? please reply asap i need it..

    This is the definition for "continuo" from Apple's dictionary:
    continuo |kənˈtinyəˌwō | (also basso continuo) noun (pl. continuos) (in baroque music) an accompanying part that includes a bass line and harmonies, typically played on a keyboard instrument and with other instruments such as cello or bass viol.
    Presumably you mean something else. Your chances of getting replies that can help you will improve with a clearly stated question.

    Where can I find the third party app?
    I'm really in trouble that I can't record and check my blood  glucose.
    Of cause I exported the data from app, but It's not readable for me.
    Please reply ASAP and give me other solution.

    You find third-party apps in the App Store. What app are you looking for? Due to problems, Apple removed the ability to record that information in Health. You can always go back to whatever you used before three weeks Health was released. Why can you not check and record your blood glucose? I would assume you check it using blood samples and a glucose meter which has nothing to do with your phone. You should be able to record it in any number of apps, from Notes to purpose made third-party apps.

  • IMac G3 upgrade from os9 to osx 10.2 possible? Please reply asap

    Hi, i have a apple iMac G3 DV strawberry machine currently running os9.0.4, it has 20gb hardrive and 256mb RAM.
    Is is possible to upgrade the machine straight to OSX 10.2 with the original disks based on the specifications i have given?
    Please reply asap, as i would like to get it up and running for my partner

    If the iMac's CPU speed is 333MHz or below, you need to partition the drive so that the first partition is less than 8GB, and then install Mac OS X onto that partition.
    If the iMac's CPU speed is 350MHz or above, you need to update to 9.1, and then run the iMac firmware updater.

    Hi
    I have Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 standard X64 Edition.I tried to install oracle 9i(9.2.0.1 32 bit for windows) on this server but installation was never successful. Do i need to go for a Oracle 9i(9.2.0.1 64bit for windows) or any other problem? Even i completely remove windows server and reinstall it completely but still problem is there. Please reply me ASAP as this is our production server.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    RJ.

    From Oracle:
    32-bit Information
    Currently this platform is ONLY certified 32-bit Oracle on a 32-bit operating system.
    There is only 32bit 9i available for 32bit OS on this platform, even if hardware architecture is 64bit. So you need either Windows 32bit or you have to go for 10g.

    I bought an iPad Mini on States 2 Months ago and yesterday i saw that the LCD have a black line in the middle can i use the warranty here on Power Mac Philippines ? Please Reply ASAP

    Hi
    You should ask your relative to physically take the iPhone to the store rather than shipping it because as diesel vdub has said:
    "No Apple store will accept an iPhone shipped to them"
    All you have to do is safely pack and ship your iPhone from the Philppines to your California-based relative.

  • Trigger Mutating Probelm...Please reply ASAP.

    Dear all,
    I have a table Hdr which is Header table for all tran tables i want to update
    a field update_date in Hdr every time update (DML) is fired,
    i can't enforce this at form level because i want to keep track even at sql prompt changes.
    there is other option DBA Auditing but if sys updates the table it does n't changes
    and i can't get the value in update_date field
    if i write database trigger to update the field it is giving mutating error.
    please find a right solution and reply
    thanks for every effort u put to solve this.
    thank u once agin.

    You are probably getting the mutating table error because you are trying to use an actual update statement inside the trigger. You cannot do any DML on the table that the trigger is on. You can access the fileds of the table using the :new.column_name syntax. So, the correct way to write your auditing trigger is something like:
    CREATE TRIGGER my_audit
    BEFORE INSERT OR UPDATE ON hdr
    FOR EACH ROW
    upd_date DATE;
    BEGIN
       SELECT sysdate INTO upd_date FROM dual;
       :new.update_date := upd_date;
    END;TTFN

    I definitely do not know much about JSP but
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/htdocs/jdbc_faq.html
    indicates
    <quote>
    This URL connects to the same database using the the OCI driver and the SID inst1 without specifying the username or password.
    jdbc:oracle:oci:@myhost:1521:inst1
    <quote>
    I do not see the port information in your connect string. Is that an issue?

  • Please reply ASAP-Discoverer and BI Publisher

    Hi,
    Could some one please list the pros and cons from switching from Discoverer to BI Publisher?
    I know it seems kinda vague but anything you have experienced would be helpful.
    New to both tools at this moment.
    Thanks so much!

    Hi,
    BI Publisher targets formal reporting, call it "document" reporting if you like. Oracle Discoverer targets adhoc interactive reporting. Ie. With BI Publisher developers create reports, users run the the reports. With Discoverer developers create views of objects, and users create their own reports on those objects with a lot of the background complexity taken out.
    So both can happily co-exist and its not a choice of one or the other, or a case of moving from one to the other - it depends on your business requirements.
