Emergency Responder/PSAP callback question

Upon an IP phone making a 911 call, does anyone know how long CER "holds" the extension to ELIN mapping for? I remember in older versions there was a configurable time limit that could be extended. I see the calls in the call history, but when I call the ELIN, I'm getting a busy. I'm running 1.2(3) SR1 and can't seem to find this parameter. I'm trying to track down what appears to be a callback problem, however my translations and route points check out...plus this was all working at one point.Should I be able to call these numbers still?

  • Simple Cisco Emergency Responder Question

    I'm setting up CER for the first time.  On the CER server in the Convention ERL Data section, when I add a new ERL I am presented with 2 things:
    Route/Translation pattern
    ELIN
    Now, my route point for PSAP callbacks is 913XXXXXXXXXX and let's say for this example that my ELIN is 555-555-1234.  Do I put:
    R/T Pattern:  9135555551234
    ELIN:  5555551234
    or am I doing this wrong?

    This has nothing to do with callbacks, this is how the emergency call will be routed and what caller ID be presented to provider/911 operator.
    For each ERL you can define multiple ELINs, ELINS are the specific DIDs allocated to e911 and are defined in the ALI database that map the address to this number, so each ERL needs unique ELINs, number of ELINs depends on the size of the ERL and how many users are part of it, is if more than one call is made from the same ERL you want to use different one as CER recycles them.
    Route Pattern/TP is basically telling CUCM what should it use to route the call out, typically you only need one Route Pattern per location, and by using "calling party modification" the ELIN is used as the caller ID of the call.
    913XXXXXXXXX is a CTI Route Point on CUCM that allows callbacks to be redirected to CER.
    So here is a high level call flow for outbound emergency call:
    1. phone with DN 1000 dials 911
    2. CUCM matches Translation pattern in site specific partition and relays the call to 911 CTI RP, or this CTI RP is matched directly
    3. The CTI RP is associated with ceruser, and hence registered to with CER
    4. CUCM transfer the call to CER
    5. CER looks up the details of the caller based on CDP and SNMP locating either the switch port the phone is connected to or subnet (based on config in CER)
    6. The switchport or subnet is associated with ERL
    7. CER uses the next available ELIN of the ERL, and uses the RP/TP, it routes the call back to CUCM
    8. CUCM matches the RP/TP and modifies the calling number of the ELIN
    9. Call is send out to PSTN
    10. when call arrives to PSAP the ALI database matches the calling number and maps the address of the caller
    For the callback, assume the call was dropped and 911 operator dials the ELIN
    1. call arrives at CUCM and matches a specific translation pattern that summarizes all of the ELINs
    2. The TP prefixes 913 to the called number
    3. 913XXXXXXXXX CTI RP is matched, which is registered to cer
    4. call is transferred to CER, CER lookup up who was the last caller that dialed 911 using this ELIN (this info is held for up to 3 hours)
    5. Call is extnded to the original caller, extension 1000 in this example.

  • PSAP callback number just rings, does not route to phone

    I have setup ELINs in Emergency Responder.  All of my PSAP callbacks work, except one.  It will just ring and not route to the phone.
    Here is some setup information:
    PSAP Callback CTI Route Point Directory Number:  913XXXXXXXXXX (area code removed)
    Translaton Pattern Settings for PSAP Callback:  913XXXXXX - Prefix digits, called party transformations (area code prefix defined, but removed)
    PSAP Callback Route Point Pattern: 913XXXXXXXXXX (area code removed)
    ELIN Digit Strip:  913   
    Thoughts?             

    Your TP should not have 913 in it, it should match the called number (ELIN) range and prefix 913 to it. So let's assume you are getting all 10 digits from telco, such as 312555505X (ELIN range), your pattern should be 312555505X, prefix 913 with CSS that has access to the 913XXXXXXXXXX CTI Route Point.
    If you are only getting lets say 4 digits from telco, then the pattern would be 505X, prefix 9132312555.
    Also, keep in mind that CER will only maintain the ELIN-Phone DN relationship for up to 3 hours after the call was made.

  • Emergency Responder Gateway

    I have the following running and testing in a simulated lab test environment
    2 - Cisco Unified Communication Manager CUCM 8.6 acting as gateway trunk
    1 - Cisco Emergency Responder CER 8.6
    2 - Cisco IP Communicators
    Everything seems to be working except CER does not seem to be presenting the correct ELIN to the simluated PSAP, it is showing my regular phone number or extension instead.  I can see in the CER Call History that it is picking the correct route pattern and ELIN number.
    In the administration guide it says that I must configure the gateway to sends th actual calling party number rather than a generic number.
    I tried changing various "Calling" settings in my outbound calls in trunk configuration without success.  Any ideas?

    Not using any calling party normalization css in particular.  Everything is default.  I simply create none gatekeeper trunk at each CUCM and forward to each other.
    In my route pattern, I have Use Calling Party's External Phone Number Mask checked.
    What is the correct way to do this in order for the other side to see the modifed calling numbers by CER
    Do it at the route group level? route pattern level? gateway/trunk level?
    Not exactly sure which settings at which level overwrites the other.
    Really appreciate your help!

  • Emergency Responder Supporting the US, But Located in the UK

    Hi,
    I have a customer who has two CUCM clusters, one in the US and one in the UK, who wants to consolidate them into a single UK based cluster. He is aware of the signalling, call set-up latency etc. associated with this design model.
    He wants to deploy Emergency Responder to support his US sites.
    Based on the design guidelines and network latency ER will have to reside in the UK along with the rest of the UC applications.
    Is this a supported configuration?
    Does deploying ER in the UK across an MPLS WAN this breach any US regulations?

    As far as the regulations I think it depends on the state. For example our cluster is in Texas and I have to provide the floor with our CER. If your MPLS circuit fails you would probably fail over to the local gateway running CME and a pots line for emergency dialing that would be a local number for that campus or site. If it is only a small office I think it is ok but if you have a bunch of floors you would be breaking the regulation here in Texas. I found this online by doing E911 regulation search:
    Texas - Texas Statute, Chapter 771.060; BUSINESS PROVIDING RESIDENTIAL TELEPHONE SWITCHES. A business service user that provides residential facilities and owns or leases a private telephone switch used to provide telephone service to facility residents shall provide to those residential end users the same level of 911 service that a service supplier is providing to other residential end users. Tarrant County Emergency Communication District has its own specific regulations for E911; Businesses using a publicly or privately owned telephone switch must be able to provide an accurate physical location and phone number for each 911 call. For businesses, location information must be minimally specified to the floor.

    How do you get around with this issue when you running a maintenance patch in non interactive mode? I get following error and can not see how to fix this issue-

  • Phone not showing in Cisco Emergency Responder

    We are running Cisco emergency responder 8.5 and have a Cisco WS-C3750-48PS-S Running c3750-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE6.bin. Emergency responder is seeing all but one phone plugged into Fa1/0/10. The phone is also not showing up in un-located phones either. That port is configured the same as all other ports. Does anyone have any idea why a particular phone wouldn't populate ER at all? I'm not sure what else to T-shoot. CDP is enabled globally and on that interface.

    I am pending someone else move that phone to a different switch interface so I'll report back when I get some information on that.

  • Emergency Responder (E911) colocation?

    I have a client that has a cluster of Call Managers in a european country and would like to use that cluster for an office in Vermont USA and remove a local call manager there.  This vermont location currently uses an Emergency Responder server for Enhanced 911 services.
    Does any one see any issues using the E911 server across a T1 MPLS circuit.?   Does the E911 server need to be colocated with the cluster?  Are there bandwidth and latency requirements across the WAN?
    Are there any other issues you can foresee having the E911 server there?   Will E911 work with SRST in a failure situation?

    Many customer use CER for multiple locations within a CUCM cluster.  You should be able to do this, as for the configuration with SRST, I am not sure.  Since one of the major functions of CER is to identify phones in their physical locations you should be able to configure it such that all emergency calls in the Vermont location would egress their local GW's.
    You may wish to address the CER documentation to verify it meets your needs.  This documentation can be found at the link below:

  • Modify Emergency Responder E-Mail footer

    Is it possible to modify the footer of Emergency Responder Onsite alert notifications at all?  Ideally we would like to remove the text at the bottom of the alert email "For more information Click here".  We have a varitery of individuals receiving the email and they attempt to login to the CER portal to see more info.  We don't have accounts for them.

  • Emergency Responder SNMP error

    I have a customer with a publisher, two subscribers, and an emergency responder server. Subscriber number 2 had an IP of 10.21.29.100, but it was moved to another subnet recently and the IP was changed to 10.16.29.100. The new IP is configured in the SNMP settings on the CER server. I do not see the old IP in the lmhosts or hosts files and the customer's DNS/WINS servers do not have this IP associated to the server name. However, we keep getting the following email notification: CER Phone Tracking could not get information[using SNMP] from 1 Cisco CallManager(s)
    Check EventViewer on CERServer for details. When we check the event viewer it shows the following: failed to retrieve SysOid of a device 10.21.29.100. Does anyone know where the CER server could be getting this IP from?

    I think this will resolve your issue:
    - Go to the CERAdmin page > Phone Tracking > SNMP Settings and change the Read
    Community to " public " for all the switches.
    - Then do a " Switch-Port and Phone Update ".
    - Next go to all your Switches and configure the following commands
    snmp community public ro 1
    snmp-server community public ro 1
    If you don't want to make your SNMP community public, you can do this:
    - On the Call Manager could you go to Start > Programs > Administrative Tools >
    Services > SNMP Service.
    - Right Click > Properties > Security. In here " add " the SNMP Community String
    that you need with "Read Only Community Rights ".
    - Once this is done change the SNMP settings on the Switches to match the SNMP settings on
    CCM, and CER

    So, is there going to be a COP file fix released for Emergency Responder or are we expected to know how to download and install the fixed version of Bash from Red Hat as the solution? For Call Manager, Unity and UCCX, there were COP files released...if this is not going to be the solution for ER, it would be nice if the bug report were clearer on the matter.

    There is one posted under "CER Upgrade Patch" , at least for 10. The bug report is not clear on that at all.

    ok, I see you posted parts of your VI in a different location. There is a sub-VI missing though ( Spline Interpolate.vi). But I re-constructed your data and can see the following things:
    1 - Your signal has a significant DC-offset (approximatelly 1000) and this will result in a power value for DC of approximatelly 10E6 (though you wrote 10E8 in your first posting).
    2 - If you ignore that DC, you can see on the time signal that there is another signal at very low frequency (order of magnitude amplitude = 10, power spectrum around bin 1 = 100) and you are not capturing an entire period of that signal, so either a measurement time of 300 seconds is not enough or this is a signal caused by a drift that you want to ignore.
    But overall there is not much sign
    al left once you remove your DC and eventually the very low frequency signal. But given your input signal, the power spectrum looks right. Remember also that the DC component will be replicated (with 6 dB reduction) on bin 1 when you apply a Hanning window. Try eventually without the Hanning window (but you'll still have to ignore your DC bin). Alternatively subtract the dc value from your time signal before computing your power spectrum.

  • Basic Cisco Emergency Responder question

    I'm fairly familiar with CUCM and prinicples of IP Telephony but I'm very green with CER.  I have a CER server at HQ that covers a building with 3 floors and about a dozen zones.  All of the route patterns to support this have been setup in CUCM and a contiguous block of DID numbers was set aside a long time ago specifically for CER/E911.  Everything works fine with E911 at HQ.
    Recently a remote office came into play.  The remote office has 3 or 4 users.  There's only 1 physical IP Phone (for general use).  Everybody there will use IP Communicator.  All of the VoIP traffic is passing across a VPN tunnel.  PSTN calls from this location use a SIP trunk at HQ.  I have a couple of questions.  First, is it reasonable to route 911 calls across the VPN tunnel to utilize voice gateway resources at HQ?  Second, if we do that can a new zone be integrated into CER for this remote office such that calls originating from the remote office will go out to the PSAP via HQ and the PSAP will show address information for the remote office (assuming that all of the paperwork is done with the provider/PSAP)?

    Sending 911 calls from centrelized location should only be considered if the SIP provider support e911 functionality and can route the call to local PSAP center where the phone is located. You would need to define different ERL/ELIN for those sites in CER.  If that is not an option your only option would be to deploy local POTS lines for 911 calling.

  • Siri is not responding to any question

    Siri is not responding.  latest 8.1.2 iOS.  I have started and restarted many times.  Any question whatsoever is met with the same response "sorry, i can't find that right now, please try again."   ANY question - what time is it, what is the temperature, what is my name, dial John, etc.  Completely non responsive.  Do i just take the phone to Apple to be replaced????

    Are you sure to have sufficient Internet for your iPhone? Preferably Wifi?
    Siri relies on being able to communicate with apple servers in order to decode your question. I get the message you get often when trying to use siri in areas with bad cellular reception and no wifi.
    So... watch some youtube videos. do they work?
