Emoji in Pages

Hi there,
I was trying to enter some of the new Emoji characters in Lion into a Pages document, but all it displays are blank spaces. It correctly changes the font, but doesn't display anything. Entering Emoji in TextEdit works (through the special characters palette). I'm running the latest Version of iWork (Update 6). Any suggestions?

No need for question mark.
The late updater is numbered 9.1 but it was delivered as update 6 because it's really the 6th one dedicated to iWork '09.
I guess that they decided to jump in next level in file numbering to make more visible the fact that there is a change in architecture.
We had :
iWork updater 9.0.1

iWork updater 9.0.3
iWork updater 9.0.4
iWork updater 9.0.5
We have now :
iWork updater 9.1.0
next one will be
iWork updater 9.1.1

Why would you do that? Just use Character Viewer to input Apple's built in emoji.

Pages 09 does not support color emoji, use Pages 5 instead.

I have Lion on my Mac ProBook. Using Pages "09 4.1 I can't get special character like "Emoji" to work! Punctuation, arrows, etc work fine.

Why does Pages '09 Version 4.1 offer "special characters" when many are NOT SUPPORTED (according to the user guide) when I try to insert one into my text? My son-in-law is a zombie freak. A picture of a skull looks like it should be available in the "Emoji" section; but it will not, nor will any other emticon, consent to showing up in my text! < And this is all I can get on this site! The angry face wouldn't budge! I can get all the arrows, monetary symbols, upsidedown ? and tilde n's to last a lifetime.
For now I all I want from Santa is a skull, a puppy and maybe a dinosaur ..... the last 2 are for grandkids!

These are two entirely different things. The "Special Characters" are Unicode characters in fonts.
Emoticons and Emoji are substituted icons for certain typed combinations like : ) , : ( . This is a software trick.
If you want the actual little pictures just go to the various websites where they are available and copy paste or drag them into Pages like any other graphic.

Recently emoji have been added to the Unicode set:

But you need to find a font that actually includes them as glyphs. This is the only one I can find and don't know if it meets your needs:

Emoticons and Emoji are common for browsers and email where such indicators of otherwise hard to tell facial expresions are useful. Such usage in a Word Processor or DTP application is very much a minority usage and perfectly met by simple imported graphics.

Can it be true that the new Pages update still does not support the Apple Color Emoji font which Apple included with 10.7? Does everyone else also find that the color versions will not display?

I meant to say Pages 4.2. I'll bet you guessed that. I never owned Pages 2.2.

HT203261 when i use any messaging app and apply any icon on the emoji keyboard, the messenger app crashes/exits to the home page.

You'd need to have an Emoji font installed on your Computer. Do you?

Quit the messages app and reset your phone.
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it jiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
After the phone restarts go into Messages and delete the thread containing the problem message.

How can I put emoji from the special characters from the edit menu on to a Pages document? They will go on an email but not on Pages. Other special characters like divination symbols will go but not emoji, i.e., smiling faces.

Note that you can also exclude a page from your sitemap.xml to prevent crawlers from crawling it. Usually you don't want to do this, but if you have a good reason to the setting for that is in the page properties dialog.

I'm able to set alt text on thumbnail images. Are you sure you have the thumbnail image selected?
You can create a placeholder page in your plan view, then mark the page menu options as 'include page without hyperlink'. Then your menu will contain an entry for this page, but no hyperlink. If you select the menu item, you can assign a hyperlink with the hyperlink control in the control strip.

Once the keyboard is connected, it should work with any app that uses the standard keyboard interface, so it will work with iWork.

Emojis stopped work on ipad air calendar?

I used to be able to use little emoji icons in my calendar on my iPad air without any problem... but recently if I try to add one, it shows up on the event for about 2 seconds then disappears.
what could be causing this? Has this ever happened to anyone before?
My software is up to date.. I don't see how the emojis could work for months before then suddenly stop working in calendar.

HT4976 Some of emojis are not showing correctly in web view text are.

When I input emojis in webview's text area, some are not showing as a emojis, they are showing as a symbole e.x. ☺ (WHITE SMILING FACE),✌(VICTORY HAND) e.t.c., these are not the correct emoji as they are showing in apple device keyboard.
Can you please sugges me what should i do ?

Is Webview an app? If so, it may not support the Emoji font. Or, if you're talking about typing in a web page, the same maybe true. The iPhone Emoji font frequently shows up as garbage characters on other phones. It sound as if it's being converted to the Symbol font in whatever your trying to use it. Avoid use of the Emoji font unless you are communicating with other iOS devices.

How do I get smileys to appear in Pages?

I followed the Help instructions for Special Characters - NO JOY. I double click on face and it puts a blank space. I added face to Auto-Correction Pref - NO JOY. It leaves a blank space.

Character Viewer - Emoji not working

I'd like to add a Smiley Face Emoticon to my Pages document. So far I've clicked on Character Viewer and found Smiley's under Emoji, but when I double click a Smiley the cursor advances forward, but no Smiley Face in my document. What am I missing? I've also found that some of the other symbols are not appearing like the Smiley Faces.

Have emoji in my GC nickname, cannot change it! Crashes every time I try.

I have an emoji icon before and after my Game Center nickname. Every time I try to change it through settings, I either get "Update your account. There was a problem connecting to the server." or it just crashes and brings me back to the home screen on my phone. This never happened until I added the emoji and now I just want to delete them but I can't. Any other way to change my GC nickname?? This is a brand new phone from Verizon and I set it up as a new phone rather than restoring it (replaced one that crapped the bed the other day).

Load Gamecenter, click on the banner that shows "Account: [email protected]" This will attempt to load your account page, log in. Scroll down to the "Nickname" section and tape your current nickname to change. Tap Done and Save and unless it's already taken, you're good to go.
