Emoticons appearing in my iphoto

Hi All
We have been having an issue with hundreds of emoticons appearing in our iphoto. They have been appearing for years and we usually delete them. Recently we have downloaded a roll from a Sony camera and the whole role has come out as different emoticons (faces, ticks, crosses, mugs, numbers) its weird. Does anyone know what this is from.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. You mean that you could order prints before upgrading to Snow Leopard, but can't find the option after upgrading? I'm still seeing an Order Prints button in the lower right corner in iPhoto '08 under Snow Leopard.

Connect your iPhone to your Mac.
In iTunes, under devices select your iPhone.
On the main window it shows a summary of your iPhone. Along the top of the main window are tabs. Select Photos.
The main window changes. Make sure Sync Photos with iPhoto is checked.
In the bottom right there is an 'Apply' button. click that and your photos should now sync with iPhoto.

No. When you removed the photos via the finder you damage the library. Photos should always be removed from the library using iPhoto, never with the Finder.
If you have a Time Machine backup of the library from before you deleted the photos you can restore the library to the Desktop and export that album from it to import into your current library.
It's been too long to be able to try one of the file recovery applications. You sure to have overwritten those files with new files since them.

I recently had my hard drive "wiped" at the Apple store to speed it up. In the process I lost a lot which I am now restoring. Prior to the wipe the photos stored in my EHD appeared in the iPhoto screen by default. I have lost that and don't know how to restore it

Are they in an iPhoto Library?
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
If not: import them.

Because they were imported accidentally. This can happen when a Library or System folder is accidentally dropped on the iPhoto icon or Window, for instance.

Yes, I am signed in to iTunes match on the macbook pro, iPhone , & iPad (all updated & correct music libraries) where I bought all the tunes but still no updated tunes on the iPhoto music library after 3 days of being on iTunes match.

There are two ways. First put them in the order you want in an album.
Method 1:
1 - rename the album the photos are in to something that will work as a file name for the photos.
2 - export photos to a folder on the Desktop via the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export
menu option with File Name = Album Name with number.
Method 2:
1 - select the photos in the album and use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Title to Text
menu option to rename the photos and add a sequential number to the end of the file name.
2 - export photos to a folder on the Desktop via the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export
menu option with the option File Name use Title

HT5824 photos taken on my Iphone are not appearing in ICloud/IPhoto. ( to my knowledge, the settings are set for "share/upload"

Photos taken on my Iphone do not appear in ICloud. I've checked the settings but am unable to determine
what, if anything, I need to do inorder to syn the photos.
Technically, I need to review the settings on my Iphone and ICloud that will enable a seamless transfer of photos.
Additionally, I need to review the computer (microsoft)setting that enable a sync of photos with ICloud.

Everything is fine, because there is no web application for photos at the moment. These are the options to view your Photo Stream:
-On your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, your photos will appear in the Photos app in the Photo Stream album.
-On your Mac, they appear in the Photo Stream view in iPhoto or Aperture.
-On a PC, your photos download to the Photo Stream download folder. By default, this folder is located at C:\Users\Apple\Pictures\Photo Stream\My Photo Stream. You can change this location by visiting Photo Stream Options in the iCloud Control Panel for Windows.
-On Apple TV, your photos will appear in the Photo Stream view under Internet in the main Apple TV menu after you sign in with your iCloud account.

IPhone 3G not appearing in either iPhoto or iTunes when plugged in via USB

No longer getting my iPhone 3G to appear as a device in either iTunes or iPhoto (my wife's iPhone 3G either) when plugged in to my powerbook's USB port or the second USB port on my Apple keyboard. Also the iPhone is no longer charging from these USB ports.
Tried different USB cables.
Wife's iPhone on iPhone 3.0. Mine on 3.1.
Then tried using same USB cables to connect via her old flat panel iMac. it worked!
Then I tried plugging the iPhone USB cable into the other Powerbook USB port normally used by my keyboard.
Nothing. Including no charging.
Looks like a problem with the USB connections on the Powerbook with the circuitry that connects to an iPhone. The keyboard works fine in either of the USB ports. And the USB ports on my 20" screen that connect to at least some of my external drives also seem to be working. They appear on my desktop.
Is the internal circuitry on the Powerbook USB ports such that some external devices can remain supported while other USB devices are not recognized?

Have you tried assigning your iPod a different drive letter? See these instructions below:
Log off of any other users on your computer (and disconnect any iPods that are currently connected to your computer, as well)
Then, put your iPod into Disk Mode, then follow these steps:
1 - Don’t plug in your iPod yet.
2 - Go to "START -> Control Panel -> Admin Tools (if you don't see this, click on "classic view" button on the left panel) -> Computer Management."
3 - Click on the "Disk Management" button in the left panel area.
4 - Now, with "Computer Management" and Control Panel windows opened, reset your iPod, and connect it.
5 - Right-click on your iPod's listing there (after a few moments when it gets recognized in this drive window), and click on "Change Drive letter and Paths". Then the "Change..." button.
Assign your iPod the letter "M" "N", "O" or the like (further along in the alphabet).

If your iPod isn't recognize to assign it a different letter, or the above steps still don't work, then try disconnecting all other USB devices from your computer (other than your mouse and keyboard), and see if you can re-assign your iPod's drive letter works.

Backup your iPhoto library, depress and hold the option an command keys, launch iPhoto and from the resulting first aid window rebuild your thumbnails. This may take several trys
If it does not fix the issue then repeat and rebuild your database

Downloaded images appear dulled in IPhoto

When I view photos on the Panasonic DMC-TZ3 camera they appear bright and gorgeous, and as they are downloading into IPhoto, when the jpg file is downloading and on screen for a few moments, it is also bright. However, when I then view the images in IPhoto Library, they are dulled. I then have to adjust/play with the exposure, brightness, saturation and contrast to get them back to a semblance of what the original image in the camera looked like. It seems that there is some kind of basic adjustment, problem with this old version of IPhoto?
Any comment or hearing from anyone who has experienced this problem, greatly appreciated. I am serious about my photos, not just taking snapshots.

It didn't change. If the pics are in Photos then they are also in Events somewhere. We know this for two reasons:
1. Every photo in an iPhoto Library is in an Event
2. Photos and Events are not Places. They are two views of the Library... two doors to exactly the same room.
The two most common reasons that they can't be found is either an incorrect date on the camera or the Sorting (View Menu -> Sort Photos - or Sort Events, as appropriate) has changed.
Quick route to find them: Right-click on one of the images in Last Import and select 'Show Event'. This will bring you to the image in the Library.

Deleted Photos appear again after iPhoto-Restart

I am using a large iPhoto-Library from a Samba-shared directory. This works fine for a long time.
I just realised that deleting of photos and events seems to be buggy:
1. When tragging a Photo to iPhoto-trashbin in still appears as an events, but also in the trashbin. When deleting the content of the trashbin the event disappears
2. The crasy thing is is appears again when reloading the app
rebuilding of caches or anything doesn't help. I tried out a lot
I checked out in the finder: The picture was never deleted from its original folder. I deleted it manually. Now the thumbnail appears, but the white '?' comes up, when opening the picture

I am sorry that I was asking a question that was obvious to everyone.
As I didn't found a solution to make a MacOsExtended Journaled filesystem on ubuntu to mount and share it with samba or nfs (HFS+ seems to be quite similar, but cannot be mounted rw) it tried something different:
Instead of shareing the mounted filesystem through TCP/IP I am shareing the block-device now. I found an mac app that allows to act as iscsi initiator. To set up an LVM on ubuntu and make it in iscsi-divice is easy. Until now this works quite nice. I guess I will be able to use Timemachine though this mechanismn as well.
I would like to suggest something to the apple-developers:
It would be great to have a feature in iPhoto allowing use a local and a server-library. The local library only shows the Photos of the last 12 month or so, but the thumbnails of everything. Everytime you connect your server an automatic sync to the server library (containing everything) is done.

I'm a new MacBook Pro user. I am not understanding the difference between the images and the iphoto library. I've uploaded many images into my iphoto library. Today I downloaded a picture off the internet. It appears in my images and not in my iphoto library. Do I have to manually add it to the iphoto library??

Yes you will have to drag it and drop it on the iPhoto logo on the dock. iPhoto is just a program to organize, store, edit, upload, and make projects with. Don't quite understand what you mean by "images" but I am asumming its just a regular folder. If it is just a folder it will keep your photo files that you put in it but that is it. Does that make any sense? I'm not the greatest at writting.

If the photos are sorted by file name by Google+ you'll need to rename them in iPhoto via the Photos ➙ Batch Rename ➙ Title to Text menu with the checkbox checked to add a sequential number to the end of the file name:
