Please suggest the process to activate and explode BOM of empties in purchase like sales BOM and other activities involved in this process.

Query on Empties Management

I have a question regarding the Empties Management functionality. As I understand, in empties management, the untied empties(packaging returns from customer) are also entered in the sales order raised by the user. And while posting the delivery, the return empties are posted as a goods return.
Now my question is what is the process when there is a partial return from the customer. How does the system handle this? Or what happens if the customer does not return any empties at all. Since the goods return is already posted for these materials, how do we handle this? Is there a way that the customer can return more empties than has been entered in the sales order?
Any pointers regarding this will be appreciated.

That's correct: The untied empties are introduced in the sales order when you know that the customer will return a specific empty.

When there is a partial return from the customer, the quantity in the return delivery must be manually reduced before goods issue.
what happens if the customer does not return any empties at all. Since the goods return is already posted for these materials, how do we handle this?
If there is no return, you must delete the delivery item or update it to zero if you allow value = zero for delivery items.
This must be done before goods issue.
In some situation it make sense to create 2 sales order for the same customer: One sales order to deliver the goods (with the tied empties) and a return order to get back the empties returned by the customer.
That will allow to post the good issue for the sold products when the truck is leaving and to wait for the truck to come back to post the goods issue (return) for the return delivery.
Is there a way that the customer can return more empties than has been entered in the sales order?
You must create manually new return lines in the sales order & generate a return delivery item.
Another option is to use DSD integrated with empties that solve all these problems and avoid manual work.

Set Empty Managed Metadata Column - Working in 2010 and not in 2013

I have seen posts similar to mine below but am still not finding a solution. I understand that setting an already populated managed metadata column can be problematic using SPD. However, my column is empty, and what works in 2010 is not working in 2013.
Issue: In SharePoint 2010 On-premises, I am able to set an empty Managed Metadata column on a file in a document library via SPD workflow using the following format:
ID;#Term|IdForTerm
In SharePoint 2013 Online, I am attempting to create a SPD workflow to do the exact same thing (ID;#Term|IdForTerm) and am experiencing the following results depending upon the type of workflow I try:
- SP 2010 Workflow - The workflow status result is Completed, but the managed metadata column remains empty.
- SP 2013 Workflow - The workflow internal status becomes Started and effectively remains this way until I end the workflow.
Any thoughts on what needs to change for 2013 when doing this?

Then start the workflow and the value in the browser view. The result is as below:
I recommend to create another managed metadata column to check whether it works.
Or you can create another library to check whether it works.

Hi People,
This documentation is the one regarding Beverage Industry Solution, so it does not document exactly the standard ERP functionality regarding empties management in ECC.
Example: It says BOM type 7 are used, but this is for Beverage Industry Solution.
In the standard SAP ERP system, the BOM type 5 is used for Empties (in SD since ERP 5.0 and also in MM since ERP 6.0).

Empties Management Configuration

Hi SAPiens
If anyone has worked on configuration of Empties Management either in Food or Beverage Industry, then kindly tell me, what are the configuration settings are needed to setup Empties Management.
Also, there is transaction code /BEV1/EMS - which standard TCode, when it is executed, it suppose to show some entries and also /BEV1/EMLGBSD needs to be updated after commericial invoice is generated.
I am struck up and I am not finding any solution, so I need your help, so that I can check all the config settings.

Hello,
I try to set up the Empties management in Purchasing with automatic empty material in the purchase Ordre but it does'nt work, please Help.
I activated the EA-CP component, I also activated Empty management in purchasing (Purchasing>Purchase Order->Empties management and the badi)
I created the main material (Milk), another one for the bottle (material type LEIR) with sturcture category "full product" in material master data.
I created a new BOM with usage 5, for the main material with material item for the bottle.
When I input the Milk material in the puchase order, the full product (bottle) is not added automatically.
Did I miss something ?

I believe the full product is the milk material itself, the bottle is an empty.
I think the "empty" material also needs a structure category as empty, I know it is possible and useful, but not sure it is mandatory.
Did you add the "empty" material types in customizing as empties?
Your message is now 1 month old, did you solve your problems already?
BTW we have the MM empty solution working at a Customer site, so it definitely works and provide Logistics integration for empties.

Hi
To get the IMG tcodes go to table TSTC and give input in the Tcode field O* then you will get the most of the tcodes.
OR
Go to IMG >Addtional information menu > Select Display Key>then select Attributes
you will get the additional information in all the IMG nodes. Take the last four letters that will be thr tcode for the particular node. You can get all the tcode except the node which is not accessible thru tcode

SAP RVBCONVMAT2BM Set Batch Management to materials with stock

Dear Gurus:
We are trying to make mass changes in material master, to activate arround 2,000 materials with batch management flag. We heard about the SAP program release RVBCONVMAT2BM, to let us do it in ma massive action.
Could anyone of you can give me support to get this program?
In other way, the tasks to be done manually will be not succesful because we currently have more than one month of operations in SAP.

The report could only be provided by SAP developer after evaluate the specific situation on your system. I think the evaluation process should be very complex and that is why your reported issue has been hold at SAP for such a long time, also only a completed evaluation is done, the SAP developer could provide the report, this is to ensure the data consistency in your system because change the batch management indicator with material stock is a very dangerous bevavior, this could only be done under a strict check. You can't run this report by your own if this is not provided by SAP, because if it cause any serious database inconsistency by running this report without evaluation from SAP developer, then SAP will not responsible for the result and will not help you correct the situation, so I suggest you should better have some pacient and wait for the update from SAP developer, or you may escalate your issue to require a quick process.

We need to manage raw materials by vendors(makers).(about Split valuation)

Hi all.
We just started a project to install SAP system.
Our client need to valuate their raw materials by vendors(makers).
For example : raw01(3Cm*3Cm steel hot coil) is sold by VendorA, VendorB, and VendorC.
Raw01(from VendorA, B, and C) are same materials but the price is largely different by vendors(makers),
just as raw01(VendorA)'s price is 1,000/EA,
       ,     raw01(VendorB)'s price is 1,500/EA
     ,and raw01(VendorC)'s price is 2,000/EA
So our clients , expecially finance dept and purchasing dept, want to manage them seperately.
Finally we consider about split valuation(batch valuation with valuation type).
But Our concern is as below:
1. System Performance : The number of GR is 1,000 / per day.
                                        It means that the batchs(1000EA) will be created everyday.
2. In case of raw mat, we want split valution.
   All material type use Batch : Our material types are raw mat, half finished good, finished good.
                                                 They will be managed Batch number.
                                                 But we just want to manage split valution in case of raw material.
Now we consider all cases which can be occured.
Please give us good advice.

Hope you have configured the material A for split valuation. while calculating standard cost estimate for the material C. through ck11n, the system will pick up the header price from material master.
But here you are saying that you have chances of using the material A, 60% of brand alpha and 40% brand beta
Instead of using split valuation use mixed costing concept. create the material A with separate Ids and create two boms one with alpha and the other with beta.
create procurement alternative in CK91N and mixed ratio with Ck94 and release the mixed cost estimate

Engineering change management for materials in MDM

Hi,
we want to replace a home-made material master data system by MDM, but need some Engineering Change Management functions like
- versions of material
- release dates
- different release dates in relation to different factories (i.e. client systems)
Any idea, how this could be handled in MDM ?

Hello Michael:
All of that information you mention can be included on MDM as plain attributes on the Materials table.
As for Versions, if materials are updated thru MDM Import I'd suggest include the new version number and as import action choose "Update all mapped fields", that is, while importing the old version number will be updated.
for different release dates you can maintain as many date attributes as Factories you have. When harmonizing data (syndicating) you can map each factory to its correspondant release date, so the other factories won't even "notice" the other dates.
