Empty Error box raising FRM-40738
Hi all
While migrating to HSD6i/Dev6i, encountered following situation
- Open any form (e.g. HSD0022F)
- Query any record
- Use F6 and F4 to force duplicate value for an UK
- Press X in windowtitle-bar to close window
- Message QMS-00158('Do you want to save your changes')
- Pressing No, all is ok
- Pressing Yes, causes alert with message for UK-violation to popup (is OK) (e.g. HSD-00016)
- Press OK-button and an empty 'error and warning box in this transaction'-window apears
- Press OK-button and alert with FRM-40738 appears
- Pressing OK-button returns you to named window
Only way to close this window is via the menu-option 'File->Close Form' or 'File-Close all)
Has anyone encountered this behaviour and a fix or WA ??

This is a new one. I have recorded a bug against Headstart for this.
I did discover one thing.
After the empty Errors and Warnings in this Transaction window opens, you can click back on the original window instead of pressing OK.
If you do that, you can close the window by pressing the 'X' in the upper right hand corner.
You will again see the message 'Do you want to save your changes?'. This time, select 'No'.
Now that one form will close and you won't have to exit your whole application.

Lauri

ITunes empty error box, wont launch.
iTunes wont launch and I get an empty error box, there's nothing in it except 'ok'. I am able to play songs from the iTunes folder but only choosing quicktime player, if I choose iTunes the same empty box pops up, same result when I plug my iPod. The iTunes menu bar is also empty, showing only the word 'iTunes'.
Any suggestions?
MacBookPro
OS X 10.6.8
iTunes
11.0.1Yes, I took it to the Apple Store's Genius Bar and they reinstalled iTunes. I never did this on my own since I couldn't find a clear answer online (should I uninstall first? save music folder on desktop?, etc), but all the guy did was re-install iTunes from the Apple website and that took care of it, it was rather easy.

Barnd new MBP OOB experience. More iPhoto issues. This time I tried to email a photo to a friend from within iPhoto. When I hit send I got the following error. (Tried to attach photo of empty error dialog box but to no avail.) So you will have to take my word that I got a pop up box with what appears to be an iPhoto error icon and no text.) Any idea what it means other than iPhoto continues to be the shoddiest app in the mac portfolio from a QA perspective???
Repaired Permissions. Same Dialog box. Can't email from within iPhoto on new MBP.
Why was I using it? Because that was my OOB experience with the new MBP.
Also I didn't realize I could use Image Capture with my iPhone. Image Capture is not available as a choice in iTunes. But perhaps that's what is meant by sync with a folder which I am now doing.
If so then correct, its not compulsory nor is it needed and now it has been eliminated. -
Hello,
when tryiing to switch between the tab canvases iam encountreing the below error.
1) FRM-40738: Argument 1 to builtin FIND_VIEW cannot be null.
2) FRM-41053: Cannot find canvas: invalid ID.
Any suggestion Please.Can you give us a code sample? More than likely, you have misspelled the Canvas name in your call to Find_View.

Empty error dialog when trying to sync (Windows 7 x64 + itunes 9)
Using Windows 7 Enterprise, 64bit and the latest x64 installer of iTunes (9.0.2.25) on a HP EliteBook 8530w.
Whenever I open iTunes, click on my iPhone (3G) and then select the "Info" tab I get an empty error dialogs popping up: See screenshot http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/1582/ituneserror.png
This dialog pops up a couple of times, one after the other. After I've dismissed them all, I can click sync and it appears to actually sync (both the phone and itunes tells me it's synchronizing). However, the empty dialog appears again during sync and once the sync has completed there hasn't been any changes to the phone
What I'm trying to sync is calendar and contacts from MS Outlook 2007. It used to work perfectly on this same computer running XP... it all happened after I re-installed the OS and upgraded to Win7.
I've searched through the internet and found various references to sync problems on vista/win7 on x64 although non of the symptoms seems to match mine (others were seeing bluescreens, frozen itunes etc.). Also, given the verbosity of the error dialog, it's quite hard to know what's wrong...
Has anyone even seen this problem or am I alone with this?I was finally able to make it work. I'm so happy.
For some reason, perhaps it was pure desperation or maybe I had read it somewhere on the internet, I decided to set Outlook as my default mail application. Unbelievably, this made it work - the empty error boxes are gone and synchronization works like a charm.
So, when Outlook asks if it should be default mailer, answer yes. You can also configure this in Outlook or in the Windows 7 start menu -> Default Programs -> Set your default programs -> Outlook.
Just make sure that Outlook is default for everything it wants to be default to. My first attempt set it to "11 out of 13" and it wasn't until I selected to use it to "all file types and protocols that it can handle to default".
Anyway, I'm a happy user now and hopefully this can help others who are experiencing the same issues -
Empty error dialog when trying to sync (Windows 7 x64 + itunes 9 and 10)
This post:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11692653 describes my problem, but their solution did not work for me (setting Outlook as defauylt and use iTunes 9.2.0.61).
Basically what happens is that every 10 minutes or so, an error box (empty) will pop up - I have auto sync enabled. Switching to manual will stop it of course, but when I manually sync the error occurs. What is strange is that as far as I can tell, my data IS syncing to Mobile Me. It's like the error ocurs regardless.
Any other ideas on how to fix this?
Details: Windows 7 64bit, iTunes 10 (tried 9.2.0.61), 8 GB RAM, 1TB HDD RAID 0, 2 drives 500GB each - Apple updates run weekly.I was finally able to make it work. I'm so happy.

Adding Portlet at Runtime to the Portal, displaying Empty Error Message Box
Hi All,
I had developed a Webcenter Portal Application, in which i had included runtime editing capabilities for pages and customization at user level - deployed successfully in PS5 Server.
I also made another simple Portlet Producer Application - deployed successfully in PS5 Server.
While, i try to register the Portlet in the Portal application at runtime, through Portal Console - Successfully tested the connection and registered.
But, when i try to add the registered Portlet to Portal Page at runtime, through Portal Console - Failure with Empty Error Message Box popup.
Further analyzed the Managed Server logs of both WC_CustomPortal and WC_CustomServicesProducer. Both the logs are pointing to same Exception.
Kindly provide your inputs on this.
Thanks in advance.
PFB the details.

FRM-40735: ON-ERROR triggers raised unhandled exception ORA-06508
I get the following error message: FRM-40735: ON-ERROR triggers raised unhandled exception ORA-06508
after login in a Web forms application.
I tried the solution as described in the Headstart Manual, e.g. recompiling the libraries in the specified order.
All the libraries are in the working directory and has been included in FORMS60_PATH.
All the involved stored procedures and packages are valid.
the same application works fine as C/S.
Any clue?
Used configuration:
Forms 6i
Designer 6i r 4.11
Headstart 6.5
Oracle 8.1.7.4
Oracle 9ias r 1 running on Sun Solaris 64bit version 5.8This is actually a pretty generic error and I would suggest running through the debugger to see the line of code it is actually failing at - that may make it easier to track.

I am getting following error while first time running the form.
FRM-40738 : Argument 1 to built-in find_form can not be null.
But interesting thing is if I close this form without saving and again open it and run it then it does not give this error.
Any solution ?
I am using Oracle 8i and Forms 6i.
KiranDo you mean you get this error at build-time or runtime? If it's at build-time, try forcing a compile all.

Export error :- FRM-40738
Hi All:
I've created a custom form based on PO Summary form. When try to export, system gives me following error (while export works fine for PO Summary):
"FRM-40738: Argument 1 to builtin FND_VIEW cannot be null."
Any idea what am I missing?
Thanks,

Illustrator CS5 - removing empty text boxes
I've always found it difficult to select the type I want when I'm using the type tool to edit some text. I can click directly over the type but I guess I'm a zillionth of a pixel off because about half the time it assumes I want to make a new text box. So my documents are littered with invisible empty type boxes that often get grouped with other objects, causing lots of problems. I'd love to know:
1. How to make it easier to select type.
2. How to delete all empty text boxes. I remember hearing of a built-in way to do this, which indicates Adobe knows it's a problem, but rather than making type selections easier, they give us a shortcut to undo the problem they caused. At any rate, I've forgotten the shortcut.
Thanks for any help,
DaveKurt,
If I took a glass of wine and savored it every time I realized
Illustrator doesn't behave as elegantly as FreeHand I would quickly
expire from cirrhosis.
But I raise a glass to the forum users who know the ins and outs and
share them with the rest of us.
Thanks,

FRM-40738 cant identify the problem
Hi Guys i am getting this error again and again :
FRM-40738 Argument 1 to builtin Report_Object_Status cannot be null.
I have check the code and to my understanding it is ok, this is the code:
DECLARE
report_id Report_Object;
report_job_id VARCHAR2(100);
v_rep VARCHAR2(200);
rep_status VARCHAR2(100);
BEGIN
report_id := FIND_REPORT_OBJECT('REPORT1');
set_report_object_property(report_id,REPORT_FILENAME,'EMP_ALLOW_DET.RDF');
SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(report_id,REPORT_EXECUTION_MODE,BATCH);
SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(report_id,REPORT_COMM_MODE,SYNCHRONOUS);
SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(report_id,REPORT_DESTYPE,CACHE);
SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(report_id,REPORT_DESFORMAT,'html');
--SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(report_id,REPORT_other,' p_prov_id='||V_PROVINCE
v_rep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(report_id);
rep_status := REPORT_OBJECT_STATUS(v_rep);
WHILE rep_status in ('RUNNING','OPENING_REPORT','ENQUEUED')
LOOP
rep_status := report_object_status(v_rep);
END LOOP;
IF rep_status = 'FINISHED' THEN
/*Display report in the browser*/
--WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT('http://'||ltrim(rtrim(v_host_name))||'.sct.gov.sa:8888/reports/rwservlet/getjobid'||
--substr(v_rep,instr(v_rep,'_',-1)+1)||'?'||'server=mas1','_blank');
WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT('http://BSS-DC1:9000/reports/rwservlet/getjobid'||
substr(v_rep,instr(v_rep,'_',-1)+1)||'?'||'server=mas1','_blank');
ELSE
message('Error when running report');
END IF;
END;
Please help me out with this problem.
Regards, ImranHi,
print out the value of "v_rep" to see if this has a valid Reports ID. In cases where a Reports crashes (see queuemanager for details about the Reports run) it happens that a null value is returned instead of a job ID. This is a bug and should be fixed soon.
Also, since you are using REPORT_COMM_MODE being SYNCHRONOUS you don't need the LOOP in the while statement. Forms waits for the Reports call to return.
I know that the while loop is in the example code in the Forms / Reports integration Whitepaper too, but this is not needed. I'll remove it from this paper for its next release.
WHILE rep_status in ('RUNNING','OPENING_REPORT','ENQUEUED')
LOOP
rep_status := report_object_status(v_rep);
END LOOP;
Just use
rep_status := report_object_status(v_rep);

Forms 9i FRM-40738 Hyperlink Bean problem
Hello,
I've this error coming please help me.
I needed to see, how a bean is integerated in Forms 9i. I was
searching through the example at metalink and it gave me a
paper
"How to Integerate HyplerLink Bean in forms 9i", what steps
i followed are given in that paper.
Now when i run the form, it gaves me the error
FRM-40738 Argument to Built in SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY CANNOT BE NULL.
the steps i followed are
1- I created a form called hyperlink.fmb
2- Then i created a ON LOGON trigger at this form
3- I opened the canvas and draw a Bean Area on it
4- Then i renamed that Item to Hyperlink by Property Plattelete
5- I named the canvas CONTROL
6- Then at module level i created a TRIGGER WHEN_NEW_FORM_INSTANCE and put following PL.SQL code in it
DECLARE
hHyperlink ITEM := FIND_ITEM('CONTROL.HYPERLINK');
BEGIN
FBEAN.Register_Bean( hHyperlink, 1, 'oracle.forms.demos.beans.Hyperlink');
FBean.Invoke( hHyperlink, 1, 'setURL', 'http://otn.oracle.com/products/forms');
FBean.Invoke( hHyperlink, 1, 'setLabel', 'Forms on OTN');
FBean.Enable_Event( hHyperlink, 1, 'actionListener', true );
END;
7-Then i created a Trigger at CONTROL.HYPERLINK, that was
WHEN_CUSTOM_ITEM_EVENT and put the following code in it
DECLARE
vcEventData varchar2(256);
BEGIN
vcEventData := Fbean.Invoke_Char('CONTROL.HYPERLINK', 1, 'getURL');
WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT(vcEventData, '_blank');
END;
Then did the following steps of the locating the bean by the
JAR method.
Method 1 - The JAR Method:
a. Locate the hyperlink.jar file located in D:\9iDS\forms90\demos\hyperlink\classes.
b. Move the hyperlink.jar file to 9iDS_HOME\forms90\java.
c. Find the formsweb.cfg file in 9iDS_HOME\forms90\server.
d. Add the following configuration section to the file:
[hyperlink]
archive_jini=f90all_jinit.jar,hyperlink.jar
width=675
height=480
separateFrame=false
splashScreen=no
lookAndFeel=oracle
colorScheme=blue
The archive_jini parameter pointing to hyperlink.jar is the most important part
of this configuration.
e. Now go into Form Builder and accomplish the following:
Edit->Preferences->Runtime Tab
Add the config parameter to your "Application Server URL". It should look
something like this:
http://machine.domain:port/forms90/f90servlet?config=hyperlink
Then i compiled it and ran it, Now it gives this error
FRM-40738 Argument 1 to built in SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY cannot
be null.
P.S I have set the implementation class property but, still i don't know
whats the problem, and where i am making mistake, please help me.
Please any help will be appreaciated.
Sincerely

FRM 40738 - Argument 2 to builtin CREATE_TIMER
Recently I migrated from forms 4.5 to forms6i (6.0.8.17.1). Everything worked fine until a few weeks ago. Every new fmx-file I create, gives a very strange error when the user moves his mouse over the icons in the toolbar: 'FRM 40738 - Argument 2 to builtin CREATE_TIMER'.
