"empty file" error in Mail from PDF attachments created on a PC

Hi all,
We have an odd situation where a particular PC user seems to be unable to send MacMail-compatible .pdf files.
When she sends the files, Mail gives the following error upon trying to open them:
"The file xxxxx could not be opened because it is empty."
This only happens in Mac Mail.
The files open fine in both our Zimbra webmail system, and Thunderbird.
Additionally, when I hover my cursor over the attachment icon in Mac Mail, I get the following popup:
"status: not yet downloaded"
I've searched in vain for info on both of these messages.
Any ideas?

Note the need to also remove the com.apple.mail.plist, and instructions for doing that.

When i execute this query it will make the pdf file in the output folder as well as in the tmp folder as a text file. but after that it will give me error in the log file as follows.:

Can you try the script removing local while declaring the tmp variable ?

Pdf extension changes to .dat when send a file via e-mail from adobe acrobat 9

to convert a file from microsoft word 2007 to PDF and send as an attachment via e-mail from adobe 9, the file is received with the extension changed to. dat, so recipients can not open it.
Can anyone help me with this.

What is the OS of the sending computer?
What mail client?
I receive plenty of files on my PC as .dat files, which come from Mac user(s), rename the extension to what I think they ought to be and have no further problem. (I cannot change the senders email settings where the problem originates)
If the receiver knows it is a pdf file, they can drag it into Acrobat, but renaming the extension serves future use.

For starters, please try triple-clicking in the Word document where you want to edit the text (sometimes, that's what it takes to select text in Word). If that doesn't work, I'd be interested in hearing more about the PDF file that you converted and the method that you used to convert it. For example, how was the PDF created (and by what app)? Did you convert via Adobe Reader (what version) or via the ExportPDF website?
If you can tell us more about the file, we should be able to get to the bottom of things.

Error in pasting from PDF document

I am able to copy the contents from the PDF file.However when i tried to paste it in word/excel/notepad i endup pasting gibberish.
The PDF file has 42 pages full of text and tables but i am unable to copy and paste it in any format.
The Properties state "No restrictions" but when i paste the contents, they are as follows
Please help urgently as i will have to type all 42 pages.

We are using Designer 9.0. Using designer we created the XDP file. The PDF was generated using the forms service of Adoble LiveCycle ES 2.5. So I was facing issue in certifying PDF generated by forms service and not when PDF was created using the designer.
As a test we changed the default form properties of the XDP file from static to dynamic. Again PDF was created using the XDP file via forms service. When this PDF was certified, the error was no more occurring. So we were able to solve the issue by changing form properties of XDP file from static to dynamic

HT1146 How do I print an email in Apple Mail without PDF attachments?

I received an email with PDF attachments. I want to print just the email without the attachments but they automatically load in the print file EVER AFTER I've converted them to be viewed as icons in the message window.
I searched online, call an Apple store and spoke to customer support who wanted to charge me a $19 fee for something possibly not even possible. In short, I haven't received a solution.
Can anybody help me? Ready to download an alternate mail app.

Mail with PDF attachments sent, not stored in Sent

IMAP account, Sent folder configured to point to server's sent mail folder. "Windows friendly attachments" selected.
If I send a message with multiple PDF attachments, the message will be received, but it won't be written to the Sent folder.
I can't afford to lose the archive copy of these messages, so I have adopted the habit of bcc'ing myself, but it's a drag.
Any thoughts?

I don't think this is a Mail issue, I think it's to do with the receiving ISP and the reason the mail can't be delivered. For example, if the address does not exist the mail will probably bounce back straight away but if the recipient's mail box is full then the server may try later and if it's been emptied, the mail will go through - if not, after a few tries it will bounce. Hence the delay.

RH11 gives a duplicate file error message converting from RH9

My project has an empty file which cannot be deleted but was ignored by RH9. In converting to RH11 I get the following message: "Error - node */Views/<folder name>/<folder name>/SBLCRVAL.htm already exists." However, there is no other file by that name in the project. There is a similar one which I renamed and everything works fine in RH9, but I cannot convert to RH11.

I think I'd save a copy of the offending file in a safe place, then delete it from the project. After the upgrade completes, then import it back into the project.

Sometimes zipping is not an optimal solution, such as when sending to a non computer savvy recipient who may not understand zip files. Is there no way to make sure that an attached image will show as an attachment to the recipient (and therefore by easy to download from the email)? Thanks.

I have OSX Maverick on an iMac using Outlook e-mail. PDF attachments are included in the e-mail as the whole document rather than just the PDF icon. How can i have just the PDF icon as an attachment?

For your own viewing, you can of course control-click on the attachment and select "View as Icon".
For others' viewing, it depends upon their email reader. To ensure that attachments are not displayed expicitly you can put them all in a zip file (via control click and "Compress") then attaching them, or you can use third party stuff like Attachment Tamer.

Can't create a multiple file PDF from PDF forms created in Designer

Hi
I want to create a single PDF which combines 6 pdf forms created in Adobe Designer (all as separate pages).
When I try to create a single PDF from these multiple files using the "Create a PDF from Multiple files" command, my A-3D won't let me do this returning a dialog box saying
"The file "filename.pdf" is protected. It cannot be used for this command".
I can't find any properties that control this, either in the original file or in A-3D. Can I overcome this and how?

Designer-created files aren't really PDF files any more and cannot be
edited or combined in Acrobat (including Acrobat 3D). You CAN make a
package of them, however, in Combine Files.

We received warning in biztalk Server for Empty File (7182).
however File has data and File with data has been processed successfully .
i want to know , how it happens and why it gives false alert.

I would suggest you to disable the receive location and monitor the folder. This should give some idea of what is happening.File adapter can't throw error without any reason

I have followed the Recommendations and everything is going well but now I can only send emails from the same domain (my default domain), but cannot send outside that domain for example hotmail, gmail, yahoo..
The administrator said that: the Exchange server already has registered the IP SAP server to enable him to relay.(but like knowing if it is truth)
But nothing happens, The error is the same: No delivery to ..... as recipient unknown

How do I prevent Mac Mail from dropping attachments?

My OS X 10.7.3 Mail is dropping attachments. Any idea how to fix this? Every time I need to send an email with an attachment, I have to use webmail, and this is getting old fast. Thanks.

If Earthlink is unaffected it is probably a settimg in me.com. Log into me.com account in a browser such as Safari (will get icloud.com) and select the settings (gear) icon bottom left, and then click on the airplane icon. Make sure vacation setting is unchecked.
