Empty folder in applications keep appearing

I am using 2014 mid macbook pro running 10.10.1 Yosemite. I've started to experience some weird issue:
A folder in applications menu I've created month ago and then moved all files out of it (it was deleted, I assume) keeps appearing after restart.
If I delete it again it will anyways appear again after I restart my Mac.
Folder was created by me, it was NOT created by any app.
Screenshot (it's 'Microsoft Office folder):

Thanks for any help!

  • Mail blocked on imac. Same message keeps appearing multiple times in the Recovered Messages folder but no new email gets through. Fine on ipad. Any help appreciated....

Haven't received any new emails on imac since 4 Sept (all received fine on ipad) and online gmail account. We sent an oversized message on that date and it keeps appearing continually (literally hundreds of times) in the Recovered Messages folder. I'm assuming this is causing some sort of blockage?? Seem to be able to send mail OK, just not receive (apart from new versions of the 4th September message). Any help gratefully received. Thanks

    Hi,
Since Outlook running on Windows works well, it seems an issue on the Mac side. I suggest ask Mac for help so that you can get more professional suggestions.

  • Empty OS X Applications folder

At times my Application folder will open, showing no application icons -- just an empty folder.
In particylar this happens when  I create a desktop shortcut, again the application folder launches but empty, no views of any installed apps.
It eventually opens normally, but I have to wine and dine it to do so.
This happens on my MacBook Air and on my iMac. I'll create an alias to the folder, click -- opens an empty folder.
Anybody else have this annoying issue?
    Moe

You may have two Applications folders. One is on the hard drive level where the System and Library are, and you may have another one, which is different, under your user name.
The one under my user name is empty.

  • Problem with empty folder showing up in incorrect release folder

Thanks to several forum contributors I've got conditional build expressions working correctly to create five Single Source Layouts. To keep it simple, I'll use letters for the SSLs.

As you can see, all the licensed modules can access topics in the Core Help, but cannot access topics in any module that they have not licensed.
There are no untagged topics in the Help.
When I generate the Help for the licensed modules, RoboHelp creates an empty folder in each target Release folder that is related to one of those licensed modules. For example, the B, C, D, and E Release folders ALL contain an empty E folder.
I have gone through the project with a fine-tooth comb, verifying that the tags are correctly applied, checking images and baggage files, etc. But that empty E folder continues to appear.
Any thoughts about the next step that I might want to take to clean this up?
    Thanks.
    Carol

    HI Carol
Are you using Inclusive or Exclusive build expression?
Sounds like it's Inclusive, but thought I'd ask.
If so, you might try using Exclusive. Just clear tags with anything related to A. After all, it's included by default anyway, no? As an aside, if the folder is empty, not really seeing the concern. Just curiosity?

  • Applications keep shutting down...

I've had issues with a couple of big applications (one a gaming application, one a music recording application). I can download the application, it appears all set, I double-click to open it - the application appears to be opening, then it shuts down and I get a pop-up box asking me to send a report to apple.
Is there some simple setting I need to change/adjust to keep this from happening?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Have you tried to download the applications a second time? Have you copied the applications from the download location to the /Applications folder? If yo copy them to the /Applications folder, use the Accounts System Preferences to create a new user, log out and log in as the new user, does the new user have the same trouble? Are you sure your applications are compatible with the current version of Mac OS X and Intel-based Macs? (Or do you have a G4 Mac mini?)

  • Strange looking file keeps appearing in Trash -

Over the past two days I keep finding a file called "␀␀␀õ␀␀.␀␀" in the Trash and if I do a Get Info on it it usually disappears. The next time I open the Trash it re-appears however.
If I empty the Trash without listing the contents first, it will again disappear but then the next time I open the Trash it re-appears again. This is really frustrating because the Trash always seems to have stuff that needs to be deleted.
I've used Terminal to look at the .Trash folder in my profile and done a ls -la to see all files including hidden files and there's nothing showing in the folder listing. However this **** file in he Finder keeps appearing.
I've also done a verify and repair of disk permissions and done a verify disk in Disk Utility. No problems were listed with either check.
Any ideas as to get rid of it?
    Regards,
    Jason

If you do an "ls on .Trash" you won't find it. If you do a "sudo rm -rf ~/.Trash", it's still there...
That's because it is, in fact, not there. It's on another volume. Are you running windows?

  • Empty folder in iTunes 9.0.2 ?

When I moved from Tiger 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard, I used Migration Assistant to transfert all data.
I notice then that the new iTunes was missing a lot of my music (4/5 !). So I have copy the missing part of my old iTunes Library to the new Music Folder.
Now I see in the new iTunes Folder 3 main folders: Album Artwork,iTunes Media with 4 sub folders and iTunes Music which is totally empty.
Should I keep this empty folder ?

    Ta Charlie!
Okay ... you don't have a p55 chipset, so that rules out one possible hardware/BIOS issue. You don't appear to have the nVidia ECHI USB chipset, so I believe that rules out the trouble with Windows 7 with 4-GB-or-more-RAM not working well with USB drives or devices. (There's a hotfix available from Microsoft for that, but it wouldn't be relevant in this case.)
So I'm thinking it might be a problem with the Apple ipod driver. (The older iPods won't be using it, which would explain the discrepancy between the old and new ipods when it comes to recognition.)
Plug the nano in. Now in your Start menu, right-click "Computer" and select "Manage". Click "Device Manager".
Expand "USB devices". Can you see an entry in there for the Apple iPod driver? If so, right click on that and select "Uninstall". Click OK. (The uninstall may take a while, leave it to its own devices for a while.)
After the driver uninstalls, unplug the nano. (Wait until it has finished saying OK to disconnect on the nano screen, if nanos do that nowadays ... I'm testing this procedure using an older Classic.)
Now plug the nano back in. This should reinstall the driver.
Do you get proper recognition now?

  • Library files keep appearing on the Desktop!!!!

    Hello
For some weird reason the iTunes Library (Damaged),iTunes Library (Damaged) Extras, itunes music & Album Artwork keeps appearing in my desktop :/ I deleted them but whenever I open itunes they appear again!! I went to preference >> advance and chose the original path for the folders and still it doesn't change.. (User>Music>itunes>itunes music)
I re-install itunes and nothing change, please I need help I'm desperate..
another Q why it's titled "iTunes Library (Damaged)" and how can I fix it?!
    Thank you

Double check to see that the ‘iTunes Library.itl’ file or the folder it resides in (the ‘iTunes’ folder) is not read-only.
First, see this Article for some background information: What are the iTunes Library files?
Using Windows Explorer, right-click on the file (or folder) name, go to Properties.
If it is read-only, then close iTunes, change it, and reopen iTunes.
Now (going forwards), any changes you make to the Library should be retained (i.e. – rebuilding).
For Vista users, How to Take Ownership and Grant Permissions in Windows Vista may offer some help. Give yourself ownership and full control of the main iTunes folder and all its subfolders.
If you are running a Sony Vaio PC, then This Thread may offer some insight.

Whenever I try to open iPhoto, a message comes up saying that 148 photos have been found in the iPhoto Library that have not been imported. It asks me if I want to import them and I say NO but then it places them in a recovered photo folder. I keep deleting the empty recovered photo files but it just keeps asking me every time I go to open iPhoto! I'd love to just get rid of the "found" photos (I can't open them anyway!)
How do I get rid of them so that I can just open iPhoto straight up without this?
    Linda

Open your iPhoto Library package with the Finder.
look for a folder titled Import or Importing and move it to the Desktop. Launch iPhoto to see if the message goes away.  If there is no message  check the contents of the Import folder to see if you want to keep any of those image files (usually they have not been imported into iPhoto). If you want to keep them then drag the folder into the open iPhoto window to import.
