Empty inbox showing 424 messages

I'm still having problems with an empty inbox showing 424 messages.  Any solutions yet?

Yes, I do have mail rules. Disabeling them and rebuilding the mailbox didn't help much.
The topics referenced by your links might have a relation to my issue.
I wouldn't necessarily agree that this is an Exchange issue. It's the way Exchange does it
l would argue if other none Exchange client can handle these messages (e.g. Thunderbird) why not Mail.app?
I think the problem is probably more directly related to the Junk Mail handling in Mail.app.
I have Mail.app set to move Junk mail to the Mail.app Junk Mail folder.
Mails in this folder do not show up in my Mail.app INBOX but (of course) in the Exchange INBOX.

I think the problem occurs for many users but couldn't find a post giving a summary of this issue.
    System:
    one account,
    IMAP/Exchange
    10.4.10/10.4.11
    Problem:
Starting from normal operation at some point the INBOX seems to become inconsistent.
I think the problem is related to switching environments -> going from LAN to WLAN or UMTS network connections.
What I mean by this is that the problem often times occurs right after you swichted network connection and start mail again. Not 100% sure though...
There are actually two flavors of the problem:
    A) INBOX (yes only INBOX!) going to 0 messages
Although there are messages in the INBOX (around 200) mail will show 0 messages.
Normal measures like, get new mail, sync account, rebuild will not make messages reappear.
    B) INBOX shows correct number of new messages but will to the old state of the inbox before getting new mail
This most often occurs when you click on a different mailbox (like drafts, trash). INBOX will then recieve new messages, progress is shown in the activity window. When finished the INBOX displays the correct number of new messages in the side bar an in the mail icon.
When you actually click on the INBOX, the display will reset (going to a blank INBOX) and then show the state of the INBOX before you told it to get new mail.
Extended measures to resolve the issue sometimes fixes it near-term but the issue will occur after a while.
    Extended measures taken are:
    - delete/recreate envelope index (probably a hundred times)
    - delete/recreate account folder
    - recreate account from scratch
    - trashed mail.plist
    - changed from IMAP to Exchange account type (mail server is Exchange)
    - resinstalled mail
    - update from 10.4.10 to 10.4.11
Is this a known issue of Mail 2.1.1 (752.3)

Yes, I do have mail rules. Disabeling them and rebuilding the mailbox didn't help much.

  • MobileMe inbox showing gmail messages

I have both gmail and mobileme accounts on my iPhone. This morning for some reason, my MobileMe inbox is showing old messages from my gmail account (from last October) and none of my previous (yesterday and prior) MobileMe emails--I can send a test message to MobileMe and it does come in okay. All my messages are fine in the cloud as verified by webmail, so the device isn't syncing properly. I have disabled my gmail account on my phone. I have tried deleting and re-adding my MobileMe account. I have rebooted the phone. No dice. Weird. Any ideas?

  • Inbox showing no messages and no folder tallies in Mail 10.10

Every time I open the Inbox in 10.10 Mail I see nothing but "no messages selected", there is no message list. to get it to refresh the list i need to selected another mailbox and then come back to the Inbox.
Also, now Mail does not show the number of messages in a folder - The first very helpful feature I have noticed that Apple has destroyed in the latest version of their software, along their relentless path of forgetting that they should have computer software too and not just iPhone software....

    Hi ..
    Open the Mail app.
From the Mail menu bar click Mailbox > Rebuild
Then quit and relaunch the Mail app.
To see how many messages are in a mailbox click a mailbox on the left.
On the right at the top of the Mail window you'll see the name of the mailbox and how many messages it contains.

  • Inbox shows one message unread. I cannot find that message.

I whittled down all unread emails only to find that one message is listed as unread. I cannot find it, despite having gone through all messages back to early 2013.

  • My inbox shows the single, most recent message only. Missing all other messages.

    Hello,
I'm using IMAP. In webmail, my inbox shows many messages. In Thunderbird, my inbox shows only the latest message. My subscribed folders sync just fine.
    All insight appreciated!

Thanks for your suggestion. I went through the entire document meticulously and couldn't fix this. I've decided to use a different email client. Appreciate the support. Thanks again.

  • Rebuilt (huge) inbox, now showing 0 messages- did I overwrite it?

For the past few months, mail (1.3.11) on my powerbook 12" g4 has been displaying a message for new messages downloaded that said something like, "this message can not be displayed, because it has not been downloaded from the server. please reconnect to the...."
However, the messages were there (available whether or not the computer was connected to the internet), so all I had to do was quit out of mail and restart it, and the messages would show up (I attributed it to having a huge inbox and a 40GB hard drive).
This morning, I got that message for every message (new or old), and couldn't get any messages to show by restarting mail (sender/subject lines still showed up).
So, I tried to rebuild the inbox, but now it shows 0 messages (0 bytes).
I would appreciate any help in:
    - determining whether or not I somehow overwrote my inbox
    - recovering anything that might be recoverable
    Thanks!
(please note that this only affects the inbox- all my other mail folders are still accessible).

I, too, had the same problem as above so I was thrilled to see your response.
Apparently I do not have a file named "Envelope Index" anywhere on my computer (I did a search), much less in the Library/Mail folder. Even so, I moved the Library/Caches/Mail folder to the Desktop and rebooted, hoping that alone would fix things, even if I couldn't move Library/Mail/Envelope Index to the Desktop.
    It did not work.
    Do you have any suggestions?

  • Outlook today shows what looks like empty inbox

I have been using 2007 for ever and rely heavily on outlook today. A few weeks ago I logged into my work/exchange account
and outlook today was gone and replaced with what looked like an empty inbox screen. After some research we figured out that the res://C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\1033\outlwvw.dll/outlook.htm was missing. I have made several attempts to add
it back, using Office 14 instead of Office 11 since we have now upgraded to Office 2010. I can paste the command line in but it does not stay when I click ok.
We also tried to upgrade to 2010 with the same result. Interesting I created a new folder in the navigator and called it today
and pasted the same address in and the outlook today shows up under that folder but will not allow me to save any changes such as folder selection. And if I click on this folder first the outlook today icon in the ribbon outlook today opens. But, as soon as
I click on another folder like inbox the outlook today folder goes back to looking like and empty in box.
Also to complicate things even more if I open in safe mode outlook today opens fine but will not allow me to save any changes.
I have disabled all add ins.

Can you post them in the outlook category for much faster response ..

  • Showing new messages in inbox on GNU/Linux

Thanks to everyone who works on Mozilla Thunderbird. I am running TB 31.1.0 from the Mozilla Build on Debian GNU/Linux 7. I find that when new mail arrives, my inbox list does not scroll to show the messages. I have it sorted by increasing date, so the newest messages arrive at the bottom. The scrollbar changes and I can scroll it manually. I'd really like to see that new mail subject at a quick glance, however. I know I have a message because I get a few pixels of the first new one showing. I used to use TB on Windows all the time and I thought it featured a behavior that would autoscroll to show at least a few of the newest messages. My window is sized so about 14 rows are showing at one time and I have about 175 messages in my inbox. When I have read all mail, I usually leave the list scrolled so the last message is at the bottom. You can see a screenshot over at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1018216?esab=a&s=&r=0&as=s.
    So my questions are:
    1) am I missing some way to enable the behavior I desire?
    2) If not, should I get involved as a developer and try to fix the code to behave the way I would like?
    3) Does TB behave on Windows the way I describe?

summer14, In case you haven't resolved this yet.
polzbert's solustion is excellent, assuming you have a backup drive using Time Machine. However, did you try rebuilding the inbox? If not, here's how:
Select the mail box that's giving you trouble in the left pane of Apple Mail. Then choose "rebuild" iunder the Mailbox Menu Item. This has resolved countless mailbox glitches for me in the past.

  • SMS inbox doesn't show new messages after upgrading to OS 5.0.0.681. SMS format appears as IM.

My SMS inbox doesnt show new messages and also my Curve 8900 doesnt prompt for any new messages. However, the Mobiso application (which logs calls, texts) shows messages coming in with its text lengths. I asked this to Blackberryhelp on Twitter but it said to contact service provider, but there is nothing wrong with it. The format of the SMS inbox should have something wrong otherwise the Mobiso application should not have logged all messages.
