Empty Messages in Mail

I have recently started receiving e-mails with no sender, no subject and no text in Mail on both my iMac G5 and my iBook G4. Both have Tiger and Norton Antivirus 10.0 installed.
Anyone know what is going on?
Thanks,
Charlie

Good advice. They all have headers like this:
Date: Mon, 31 Oct 2005 10:02:35 +0000 (GMT)
X-Comment: Sending client does not conform to RFC822 minimum requirements
X-Comment: Date has been added by Maillennium
Received: from 63.240.76.26 (unknown[61.52.226.130](misconfigured sender))
by sccrmxc22.comcast.net (sccrmxc22) with SMTP
id <20051031100208s22005jioie>; Mon, 31 Oct 2005 10:02:32 +0000
X-Originating-IP: [61.52.226.130]
Received: from localhost.localdomain (61.52.226.130 [61.52.226.130])
by 63.240.76.26 with ESMTP id e4[2
I don't know what exactly RFC822 requirements are but I gather these are junk messages getting screened out.

Email seems to be sent, but it doesn't arrive. No 'unable to send' message, sent items and draft folders are empty. The mail disappears. I tried to fully turn off the iPad and have it restart. But it doesn't go off. I keep seeing the small white 'turning wheel' untill the battery is gone. After that, it works again (and so does the e-mail). This happens about every week. What can I do?

*there's no reason to be paranoid*
    Says Mulder .
Anyway, as I mentioned, I don't use any sync-able email, just a very plain-jane POP email provider. iSync reports no devices and has nothing in its log, which matches my never having installed anything in need of syncing.
The thing is, if Mail says its sending something when nothing was ever sent, that's a largish bug whether it is actually sending something or isn't, and there isn't really enough info here to know which of those are the case. Maybe Mail just displays "Sending" because an attempt to do something reasonable is timing out, maybe it does an innocuous and normal POP thing using very confusing nomenclature, or maybe it's really trying to send something which has a wrong flag or something. There isn't really enough info to know what is going on, so I was hoping someone could identify the symptoms.

my hw? mbp 13" display retina,
my sw? osx maverics 10.9.5 and all updated to last (up today) version.

I'm sorry. I really didn't look at it before I agreed to do the update but it was the last update that Apple put out. I think it was 10.4.10 before the update. So the update was to install 10.4.11. and two other things. A safari update? Is there a place I can look to see what these updates were? I did run repair permissions before taking the computer to Apple for the tune up. So to answer your question I would have to say yes, I did. Anyway... I do not know what they did there. All the fellow said was that they would have written things on the receipt if they had found any problems. So we assumed since there was nothing written that nothing was wrong. Brought the computer home and everything worked fine for several days until I ran software updater and installed the new updates last night. After that, I did run permissions repair, again, and as I said it had a huge long list of things that it had repaired. So now safari, mail ,and software updater quit unexpectedly repeatedly, often without being able to bring the programs up at all. I did notice in the reports that were sent to Apple after the apps failed that all had in common the words "ExecBadAccess (0x0001)" and "codes:Kerninvalidaddress (0x0001)" etc, part of the reports. Did the update change something in the kernal? I have been afraid to try to open itunes or iphoto. Most things are backed up and my itunes and iphoto libraries are on external hard drives. I forgot to back up delicious library however. The last application I downloaded before taking the computer to Apple and doing this upgrade was dot mac's "Back-Up" app. So... can I get the computer back to the way it was before the update? What can I do? Thank you so much.- Charlotte

  • How can I empty the Junk mail folder in Yahoo without opening the messages?

How can I empty the Junk Mail folder in Yahoo without opening the messages?

You can swipe across them on the left and delete them unread. Unfortunately there is no 'delete all' option in mail.
Or you can just ignore them on your iPad and empty the junk folder when/if you access your mail online.

I was able to obviously import into Mail but am wondering if this is the reason for the empty messages? Some imported fine... (Entourage forums never responded

  • Can not find some messages in Mail using search

I have some problems with Mail.app I can not find some messages in Mail using search, the strange thing is that sometimes mail search finds some messages, but after rebuilding spotlight index the search displays other messages with the all messages searched using same search criteria. I have also tried to delete Envelope index file from the Mail folder in usr/library and forced mail to import all mailboxes but it started to crash importing some of mailboxes - I deleted the messages from that mailboxes, imported remaining mailboxes and tried to rebuild mailbox, but everything without a successes. Any ideas how to solve it?

  • HTML messages crash Mail

Since this morning, every time I try to open an HTML message in Mail, it crashes. I don't have a problem with regular text e-mails, just HTML. I've repaired permissions, run Disk Utility and Disk Warrior, and I don't know how to proceed.
    Can anyone help, please?

Hi lsgmilano, and a warm welcome to the forums if you han't been already!
First I'd backup your whole Mail folder, by right clicking on it in the Finder, then choose Archive/Compress.
Right click on that Mail folder, choose archive, you'll get everything in the folder, and the folder itself in a file called Mail.zip..
Quit Mail, then In your home folder, try moving this +folder & file+ to the Desktop then reboot...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail
    Move to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index

  • Is there any way to automatically add an attachment to a message in Mail?

    Hi,
I have to responsd to a lot of emails with basically the same response. I use a TextExpander snippet for the body of these messages. However, I usually need to attach a PDF file as well.
Is there anyway to automate attaching a PDF attachement to a message in Mail?
Perhaps, this can be done by adding the attachment into a Signature, although I havent seen a way to do this.
Or perhaps, some kind of Automator scritpt?
The mail account is actually a Google Apps account, so perhaps there is a way to have the GMail server do something to the message on the way out?
    Thanks

it's fairly easy to create an outgoing message with attachments in applescript; just use a script like the following:
    tell application "Mail"
              set newMess to make new outgoing message with properties {visible:true, subject:"test emal"}
              tell newMess
      make new attachment at end of attachments with properties {file name:"/path/to/attachment"}
              end tell
    end tell
it's extremely difficult to add an attachment to an outgoing email that's already been created, however (there's no easy way in applescript to get a reference to an open outgoing message window if the script did not make the window itself).  I'm not sure which you had in mind.

  • How to delete multiple messages in mail

How to select a bunch of messages in mail to delete.

I Wonder if your sitting there laughing at us as if there is some big conspiracy about selecti all and deleting all from our iPhones and iPads.
    The conspiracy.
Why can we not just not select all in the mail inbox and then delete all, if we do not want to delete every single one of them then deselect the few that we do not want to delete instead of having to select the thousands we do want delete individually.
And if you do make a mistake and delete the wrong emails by selecting all, then go to your trash and reinstate the ones you did not want to delete
I think 99% of us know how to DELETE emails individually, as you put it.
That's just sarcasm and if not then then your not fully understanding the question asked.
I would also say that probably 99% of us want to be able to select all and delete all if that's what we desire.
I would just like a honest answer of why we cannot select all delete all rather than giving me a load of rubbish about encase we delete something we didn't want to delete.

  • How do I manage old messages in Mail on my Mac?

    Hi,
I can no longer receive Yahoo messages in Mail on my Mac.
This could be because I have over 20,000 messages in my Inbox?
I'm wondering if there is a way I can arrange for Mail to delete and
archive all these messages so I don't have to do it manually?
If there is a way, please explain how to do it.
    Thanks all!

Select the bottom or top e-mail, then hold down the shift key and select the last e-mail, the Mail/Message/Archive.

  • I can no longer zoom in my messages in mail since upgrading to Lion

I have a Mac Book Pro with an intel i5 processor and 4GB of ram.  Since I have upgraded to Lion I can no longer zoom in on my messages in Mail.  I was able to do this in Snow Leopard when ever the text size was too small.  Is there a way to make the text larger in the body of the messages I receive?

The zoom has been replaced by the pinch and zoom method just as you would do in zoming into or out of a document or photo. Hope this helps.

  • TS3899 Getting the message "your mail could not be moved to trash", and keeps reappearing as not read or deleted.

Getting the message "your mail could not be moved to trash", and keeps reappearing as not read or deleted.

Did you have Hotmail set-up with Android prior?  I did, and if you did too, you have the same problem, and this is how to solve it.
From your desktop computer, the Hotmail (or Outlook) website uses the folder "Deleted" for your deleted messages as default.  On your iPhone, the deleted folder's name by default is "Trash".
When I had my Hotmail with Android, it created a folder Trash for deleted messages, and it's creation was amongst all my folders.  So when you go back and look at Hotmail from your desktop, you will see a folder Trash, in addition to the default Deleted.  My Trash folder had all the emails I deleted from my Android.
That said, with the manual folder Trash that was created, when trying to set-up Hotmail now on iPhone, because I already had a folder Trash, it conflicted with the default "Trash" folder it wanted to created, so it didn't create it, being the reason why you can't delete emails, because it doesn't have the defaulted "Trash" folder to go to.
The solution is to delete the folder "Trash" from your desktop, uninstall Hotmail from your iPhone, and re-install, and it worked, the defaulted "Trash" was then created, alongside the "Sent" and "Junk".

  • Is it possible to import messages into Mail that are in .csv format?

Just in case my previous topic subject was preventing some folks from checking this out, I'lll try to ask my question in a more generic way.
I have an archive of a mailbox from another email program that I'm trying to move over to Apple Mail. My archive is saved as a .csv file. I can open the file in either Numbers, Excel, or TextEdit, and I can see that all the info is there. However, I want to be able to import these into Mail so that I can integrate these old messages with my other emails. I would want to be able to search for these messages using Mail's search tools and be able to identify messages based on who they're from, the subject line, date received, etc.
Specifically, this archive was exported out of Earthlink Total Access. My only options out of Earthlink were to export out as either .csv or a proprietary .dat file. I'm trying to figure out how to get the .csv file into Mail. I tried going through Entourage, but Entourage only imports contacts from a .csv file and not messages. I found a Unix utility that coverts a .csv to an mbox file (which Entourage would be able to import), but I'm not sure how to get it to work (I'm not that swift with Unix).
    http://membled.com/work/apps/outlooktext_tombox/
    Any brilliant ideas?

I too am trying to transfer Total Access messages into Mail and have stumbled at every attempt to use other software, such as Entourage and OE, as intermediaries. I would love to hear if you get any response to this question. I was able to transfer all the addresses, but not the messages.
