Empty PostOffice Calendar publisher bug

I have no reasonable way of reporting this to Novell, so I'm simply
posting this here in case anyone else comes across this problem. It's
been so long since I've ran into this I forgot all about how to work
around it, so hopefully this posting comes up for me the next time I
forget the problem and go searching for a fix. I've noticed this problem
ever since v8.0.0 and I'm currently running the latest 8.0.3 HP3. Quite
simply, if a post office has no users and the POA has calendar
publishing enabled the publisher agent will get hung up indefinitely and
will no longer serve requests. You can easily see what's happening by
watching /var/logs/tomcat6/catalina.out because it will show what Post
office it's trying to connect to for a list of users but since none show
up it just sits there. The fix is to either add a user to the post
office or disable calendar publishing on that specific poa.

Very clever idea Mike. I will admit that I've occasionally gone to search for
something to fix a problem and found another thread where I posted an answer to
help solve the same problem for another user - heehee.

  • Force Day View of Calendar Published from Outlook Web Access

Is there a way to force the view of the Outlook calendar published through Outlook Web Access 2013 so that it displays the day or week view without the user having to click on an icon to change the view?  I want to display a day view calendar (or week
view) by default.  I can successfully publish the calendar but a user has to click the icons to change the view.  I want to display the calendar in an iframe on a digital sign and the user won't have a way to click or touch the icon.  Are there
parameters that can be passed in the url?

    Hello Brian,
I'd suggest asking OWA specific questions on the
Exchange Server for Developers forum instead. Also you may find the
Exchange Server 2010 Outlook Web App Customization SDK helpful.
As for Microsoft Office Outlook you can use the
CurrentView property of the Explorer or Folder classes which returns a View object
representing the current view. To obtain a View object for the view of the current Explorer,
    use Explorer.CurrentView instead
of the CurrentView property of the currentFolder object
    returned by Explorer.CurrentFolder.
The View object allows you to create customizable views that allow you to better sort, group and ultimately view data of all different types. There are a variety of different view types that provide
the flexibility needed to create and maintain your important data.
The table view type (olTableView) allows you to view data in a simple field-based table.
The Calendar view type (olCalendarView) allows you to view data in a calendar format.
The card view type (olCardView) allows you to view data in a series of cards. Each card displays the information contained by the item and can be sorted.
The icon view type (olIconView) allows you to view data as icons, similar to a Windows folder or explorer.
The timeline view type (olTimelineView) allows you to view data as it is received in a customizable linear time line.
Views are defined and customized using the View object's XML property.
The XML property allows you to create and set a customized XML schema that defines the various features of a view.

  • Longstanding Exchange Calendar Sync Bug Persists in iOS 7 / 7.0.2

For those who sync their iPhone / iPad / iPod touch to a Microsoft Exchange e-mail environment, you may be aware that there's a longstanding Exchange Calendar Sync bug (affecting iOS 4.x - 6.1.3).  An otherwise functional iDevice may suddenly remain warmer to the touch than normal, exhibit much shorter battery life, and start using cellular data at up to ten times the user's typical pattern.  I've taked with Apple Support several times, and was never able to get an answer.  The fix involves simply opening the Exchange account settings on the iDevice, shutting off calendar sync for thirty seconds, and turning it back on.  This is nothing new.
Over the weekend, an executive’s iPhone 5 (on Verizon) and his iPad 2 (Wi-Fi only), both running iOS 7, began exhibiting runaway connections to my employer’s Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync server.  The user upgraded his iPhone 5 to iOS 7.0.2 over the weekend, but the problem persisted.  In one 24-hour period, his iPhone checked in with our server 45,009 times, while his iPad connected 55,547 times.  Normally we’d expect to see a single device connect a few hundred times per day rather than tens of thousands.
I've written more about it here.

This is still a problem in iOS 7.0.4 as well.  We just had runaway calendar sync behavior on a 4th generation iPad running iOS 7.0.4 (iPad3C4/1102.55400001), which connected 75,436 times in a single 24-hour day.

  • Publish bug Cap4 (0KB)

We have observed a publishing bug which results in .htm files of 0KB on multiple machines publishing different projects.
Often, Cap4 simply does not complete the publishing operation and just hangs w/o ever show the "View Ouput" option and green checkmark.
Reboots don't fix it, but if I keep at it, eventually I can get a project to publish after multiple reboots. I typically use Flash 8 but I have the bug with 8, 9, or 10.
We'll keep recording this bug in our logs, but we have only ever observed it in Cap4.
    thanks,
    Jon

I believe I spoke too soon.  After further testing, I encountered the problem again and am unable to figure out the root cause of the problem.  The problem may be due to the webkit-tap-highlight being added to the div tag.  I am still seeing the problem when nesting text inside a square inside edge animate.  However, I don't see it consistently and I have no idea where the webkit-tap-highlight is originating from.
Has anyone else encountered this issue when publishing in Edge Animate?

  • Calendar Publishing and URL's?

I have a teacher that is wanting to use the published calendar feature to publish his class schedule and items he wishes to have the student to look at further or work on. I haven't been able to find a way to integrate his URL's into Calendar publishing so that the student can click on the links inside his calendar items and go directly to a web page he has listed. Is this possible?
Also the Supt would like to have a series of school calendars available to parents and staff to subscribe to. I have setup a group for Calendar publishing and assigned that group to the calendars already published. What is the best method for the end user to gain access to the calendars and be able to post items. I don't want just anyone being able to do so but would like to make it as easy as possible for the staff that are assigned to post items.
Is there any way to RSS feed the calendar events as well?
    Thanks for the information.
    Richard

  • Calendar Publishing Host

Have a site that is looking into calendar publishing host and I am working to see if this is a viable option. Haven't done allot with the product myself so looking to see if this possibly might work. It appears this product will publish calendars so that external users can see the internal GroupWise users calendars. This site has a large mac contingent and they still have to use the gw8.0.2 client on them. The main issue deals with the option to view mutil calendar view, which is something you can't do in the mac GW client. They need a way they can view mutli calendars for scheduling and all. Wanted to see if the calendar publishing agent would be a viable option to deal with current issue. The capability I don't believe is in the webaccess agent as well to view multi calendars.

Multi-user calendars are "defined" by the users themselves, so there isn't a
"multi-user" calendar per se in calendar publisher. However, you could be
    creative :-)
If you use calendar publisher, you could define a folder in the GW 8 client as
"panels". Then you could put different calendars from the web publisher into
the panels. You can actually accomplish this without calendar publisher by
making a new panel for each Groupwise calendar that the user has access to, but
calendar publisher might "look" better in the panels.

  • Groupwise calendar publishing host sort

The calendar publishing host sort on owner name not on (sub)agendas.
Is there an option to change this behavior so the list first sort on owner then on agenda name?

Has someone modified the default templates and add these basic functions?

AFAIK, none of these things are possible unless you feel like
decompiling and rewriting the java code.

  • Calendar Publishing not working for users moved to new PO

We got the Calendar Publishing working, and it's a treat, very nice integration to our Intranet, teaming etc.
But for users that has a published calendar, and is then moved, the publishing fails!
I've set the loglevel for the Calpub to diagnostic, and I see this:

So first of, it connects to PO4 without problems, then PO8 where it finds the user (correctly), and then it gives an error when trying to access the calendar.
The calendar has been 'unpublished'/'republished' but the URL doesn't change.
I can create a new calendar, and move the appointments there, and then it works, but it's not a solution of course :-)

Is there a fix or workaround? (GW 801HP2)

  • Groupwise Calendar Publishing Host Losing Connection To POA

Our calendar publishing host will work fine for awhile, then lose connection to the poa. The log entry will state "Failed to connect to Post Office (xxx.xxx.xx.xx) for Calendar/Freebusy publishing." Entries in previous logs will show where it's connecting just fine. When this happens, I've tried restarting all the Groupwise modules (poa, mta, webacc, gwia) as well as stopping and starting apache2 and tomcat5. Nothing will bring it back online until I reboot the Linux server. Our setup is:

  • Calendar Publishing Date Limitations

I have a client who is telling me his Calendar Publishing server is unable to display more than 6 months of events. Is there a way to configure the calendar publishing server to show a longer period of time. This is a school so they would like to publish and entire school year on the calendar.

    Hi John,
As far as I am aware, when you publish a calendar via calendar publishing it is limited to 180 day in advance. I don't know of a way to change this - sorry!

  • Calendar publishing

I've set up a calendar publishing host in my test gw2012 setup. I'm
wondering the 'correct' procedure if additional post offices are to be

Do I need to install multiple publishing hosts, or can my current host

So I can just add entries to the calhost.cfg file for other POA's?
    Stevo
    From the docs:
    Novell Documentation
(start with the: Enabling Calendar Publishing section)
    Then go to the :
Configuring a POA for Calendar Publishing
After calendar publishing is enabled, the POA can look up calendar information and return it to the Calendar Publishing Host in the form of ICS (Internet Calendaring and Scheduling) or IFB (Internet Free Busy) files. Internet users can import these files into GroupWise, Outlook, and Macintosh iCal calendaring applications.
Use the information under Calendar Publishing Post Office on your GroupWise Calendar Publishing Host Installation Worksheet as you configure the POA.
In ConsoleOne, browse to and select the post office where calendar publishing is enabled, right-click the POA object for the post office, then click Properties.
    Click GroupWise > Agent Settings.
    Select Enable Calendar Publishing.
Adjust the number in the Max Calendar Publishing Threads field as needed.
The default maximum number of calendar publishing threads is 4. By default, the POA creates 2 calendar publishing threads and automatically creates additional threads as needed until the maximum number is reached. You cannot set the maximum higher than 4, but you can reduce the number of threads to conserve POA resources for other activities.
Click OK to save the calendar publishing configuration settings.
As you roll out calendar publishing to your GroupWise users, enable calendar publishing on the POA for each post office where users will publish calendars and free/busy information.
To determine which POAs have been enabled for calendar publishing, see "Viewing Calendar Publishing Status at the POA Web Console" in "Calendar Publishing Host" in the GroupWise 2012 Administration Guide.

  • Problems with iCal 2.0.5 subscribing to a .mac calendar published with 3.0

I'm having trouble subscribing to a calendar published on my .mac account on my older machine which I keep at home. I have a nasty suspicion the problem may just be one of compatibility. But, as the home machine is only used for web browsing and itunes streaming I really have no need to upgrade it to Leopard!
Every attempt to subscribe results in the following message:
    +"Error subscribing to the calendar+
    +Data downloaded from http://[URL] is not valid."+
I've had a look through the forums and so far haven't found anything.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Surely Apple would ensure backwards compatibility to at least the previous version of iCal!!??!!

I have a similar problem, except my iCal 2 machine gets no error, just completes its subscription-refresh and ends as though everything went just fine. Although nothing ever gets updated.
I did check the .Mac location and the real ical file is there and updated per its modification date.

  • Calendar publish not asking for Location

Hi, I'm running Office 2010 and trying to publish my primary calendar to my personal WebDAV-enabled server. I had it previously published to Office Online until that service was discontinued.
Even though Outlook says that it's not published, when I click "Publish to a WebDAV server", the "Published Calendar Settings" box pops up, which doesn't even list the server location input. It gives me no option to unpublish, remove
from server, or change the location.
When I select a calendar that's never been published, "Publish to a WebDAV server" brings up the "Publish Calendar to Custom Server" box instead.
Is there any way for me to clear the publishing configuration from the calendar without deleting the current one (which I believe I'd have to delete the .pst to accomplish)?
    Thanks!

Did you check in File, Account Settings, Published Calendar tab? Delete it from there.
