Empty rows from imported excel sheet

Hi all
I use Intelligent Explorer 8.3 and have an imported excel sheet in the query.
If I process this file I receive a lot of empty rows on top the data I like receive. But in this excel sheet there are no empty rows. What could be the problem?
Is there a setting which I can change the path to this excel sheet?
The only way I know is to rename the excel file that I get a message box to set the path again.
Thank you very much in advance
Michael

I solved the problem with the empty rows already. The problem was that Brio retrieves empty rows if they are used before. There is obviously a difference between empty rows which are used and which are unused. But I am still trying to find the excel settings where you can change the path to the excel sheet.
Thank you anyway

    Hi Ross,
    >> In our testing environment using both Excel 2010 and 2013 this file is imported successfully, so we cannot replicate.
I suspect it is caused by the difference of web server security settings.
KB: Error message when you use Web query to a secure Web page (HTTPS://) in Excel: "Unable to open"
    Hope it will help.

  • Importing Excel Sheets

Does anyone have an idea how I can import/extract data from an excel spreadsheet in JSP.
I need to extract data from an Excel sheet and store it in a database.

    hi!
It's very very simple to do
Just download load the POI project (poi-2.5.1-final-20040804.jar file) from the Apache Jakarta site - it's a open source project
just put the jar file into your class path.
import the packages which i mentioned below...(it's a minimum requirement)
    import org.apache.poi.hssf.usermodel.*;
    import org.apache.poi.hssf.*;
import org.apache.poi.poifs.filesystem.*;and refer the document (for coding) which include in that jar file itself... they included the example like Openning the workbook and fetching the rows....
so u develop the rest of the things...
    Note: download bin & src.

  • Upload Journal Voutures of customer master from the Excel sheet using BAPI

    Hi experts,
Can U have any sample program so that it can help me for my coding.

    Hi,
You need write the abap program in the following manner,
    1. Read the data from the excel sheet and then enforce the checks if at all any in the new program.
    2. Fill all the parameters of the BAPI *BAPI_CASHJOURNALDOC_CREATE *.
    3. After the above BAPI call, you need to call another *BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT *.
    4. Once Transaction commit bapi is successfully executed then only you will get the document number.
Please follow all the above mentioned steps then you can create the Journal Voutures migrated from an excel sheet to SAP successfully.
    Thanks,
    Mahesh.

  • How to put the data from one excel sheet in another excel sheet

    hi ,
I want put the data from one excel sheet in another excel sheet in seq. order Eg: I have one excel sheet in which i have 3 col. Name , Sno. , Email along with data .I want to put data from this sheet to another excel sheet in the following orders of col. Sno,Name, Email .
While loading data in another sheet , i have to perform validation like char field should n't contain numeric values and vice versa .
Let me know on this soon ..
    regards
    Prashant

Well, you can issue separate queries with the ordering you need from each tab in the spreadhseet. You can open an ODBC connection from a VBA macro, select a sheet, run a query, select another sheet and run another query. As for the validation, you can do this in Oracle via stored procedures or again in VBA code.

  • Change an Object property based on a value coming from the Excel sheet

    hi all
i've been able to bind a value from the excel sheet to my my component
but i want to change a property of an object in my component based on this value at the run time.
during the design time, it works fine
for example, if my value called "_xvisible"
and i use to it to hide some object.
if i set _xvisible during the design time in excel, it works fine in the run mode.
but during the run mode, if the value got changed, there is no affect.
    thank you
    Amr

    Hi
See the xcelsius samples present inside xcelsius SDK. there are examples describing how to bind data which will work at runtime also.
    Hope this helps

  • How to trigger the workflow from the excel sheet

    hello friends,
my problem is that i should trigger the workflow from a excel sheet which contains a list of appraisers and appraisees.how to do this. can anyone  help on this.
    thanks.

    Hi Murthy,
If you are asking if a workflow can be started on R/3 while in Excel - may be possible if you can develop some fancy macros that can make RFC calls to an ABAP function module. I won't even attempt to travel that route.
Save the excel sheet as CSV or Tab delimited file and process it using ABAP. You can use the WAPI function module SAP_WAPI_CREATE_EVENT (Rel 4.7)to start the Workflow by raising the relevant event. In earlier releases, see FM SWE_EVENT_CREATE.
Please do keep in mind there could be performance and response time issues for dialog users of the system if you are going to start several workflows using a report program.
    Cheers,
    Ramki.

  • Is it possible to populate a PDF from an excel sheet?

I have been asked to create a dynamic PDF which will take values from an excel sheet & grow accordingly... Is it possible to link cells(which may not yet have values) in an excel sheet to fields in a dynamic PDF?
    Thanks in advance

If using Acrobat prior to 9 to create forms, you can use Acrobat's JavaScript ADBC, Adobe Data Base Connection, to connect to an SQL database. A named range in Excel will meet this requirement. If you have created your form in LiveCycle Designer to create your forms you can use the data connection.

  • Help required in creating a dimension from an excel sheet

    Hello all ,
We have a new requirement ,where we need to create a Dimension from an excel sheet. I tried creating it from a . csv file. But , I am not sure how to set the across, down statement ( if any) . The procedure is able to peek the data from the excel sheet. But , it says that the dimension member is not a selected member of variables. We have not created any variable yet. The transcript of the procedure is below :
    remove dimension MODULE
    ACCESS EXTERNAL
    USE 'C:\module.csv'
    DESCRIPTION FREE ,
    peek only 5
    read
    BEGIN
    construct MODULE
    level MODULE_CD
    label MODULE_DESC
    preface "custom 5 allocate 1000,30,1"
    END
    end
    compile dimension MODULE
    Please advise
    Thanks and Regards
    Vijay

    Hi Vijay,
I believe you should be identifying the fields you have in your csv file, in your case MODULE_CD and MODULE_DESC:
    DESCRIPTION FREE ,
    MODULE_CD text 10
    MODULE_DESC text 20
Can you try that to see if it makes a difference?
    Regards!

  • Data Migration from MS   Excel Sheet to Oracle 9i Database

Can anyone please help me to perform a data migration from MS excel sheet to Oracle 9i Database. I have an excel sheet from which i need to move data to the database. One of the columns in the sheet posseses multiple new line characters, and which causes a problem while migrating data with the help of SQL Loader. I would like to know whether any utility is available to migrate data directly from MS Excel sheet to the database, or it would he really helpfull for me , if anyone provide me with an alternate solution.

I think Christian's suggestion will work for easily and quickly.
    1) create table link of Oracle target table in MS Office's ACCESS thru ODBC;
    2) from Access screen, you may easily dump the excel data into the linked table.
This is very easy and feasible ways. Don't bother to find other ways. The other ways will need you to clear the unwanted carriage return signs first.

  • Import  excel sheet for update of a table

    Hello
I'd like to import data from an excel spreadsheet or CSV file. Is there a simple way to update the table with this data?
Can import handle one spreadsheet containing data from 2 tables of which one is to be updated.
Eg. column 2 in rows 1 to 4 contain the foreign key values. The remaining rows contain the data to be uploaded to the table (UPDATE no INSERT)
    Thanks
    Cindy

    Cindy,
Sorry - I misunderstood your initial question.
Unfortunately, our import wizard only does INSERTS - not UPDATES.
What you could do as a workaround is upload your data into a staging table, then run an update script to update your actual base table. Once you are done, you can delete all of the data from the stage table, and perform the update operation again.

  • VBS:How can i determine the last row of an excel-sheet

I want to replace the chn-comments of an datafile. I pick up the chn-names and want to compare them with an excel-file and so get from the excel-file the right chn-comment and store int back in the datafile. my problem is how can i determine where the excelfile-row is on the end to load the loopounter with corr values.
i know one solution via scan on ascii 13 and 9.but bether is to know immediately the length of the column.
    answers also in german possible.

    Peter,
Are you using DIAdem's Excel Import Wizard? By "Excel file" do you mean a tab- or comma-delimited ASCII file that Excel can read in easily, or do you mean a file with the extension "*.xls"? You certainly could not search through an *.xls file to find CR/LF characters.
If you use the ASCII or Excel Import Wizard to create an *.STP file for the "Excel" file in question, then after the *.STP file is loaded you have access to a whole range of variables, starting with Ascii... or Excel... which completely outline the structure of the ASCII or Excel file, including things like the row in which the channel comments are, etc.
Why don't you send over your Excel file and I'll be able to help you a lot better.

  • Update BP from Import Excel

    Hi.

Row Number 1: Code undefined Business Partners
or if add the BP Code this error.
Row Number 2: This entry already exists in the following tables  '' (CRD1) (ODBC -2035) - 5010
You can help me resolve this problem??
    Thanks!!

    Hi,
Please use the same Excel sheet i.e. the format used for previous importing.  Update the "Additional ID No." in your Excel sheet & keep all other information untouched. Then import to SBO.

  • Regarding creation of data type from an excel sheet

    hi experts,
I am to create a data type which has 2000 fields. details about data type is in excel sheet.
Is there any way i can convert this excel sheet to xsd and impot it in XI
or there is any other way to do it fast.
Or i will have create it manually one by one element.
    thanks
    Jaideep

    Hi,
By default the occurences in the DTD will be Only One Occurrence.
In the DTD you have to delclare the occurences as below and then convert to XSD using XML spy.
Declaring Only One Occurrence of an Element
Declaring Only One Occurrence of an Element
    <!ELEMENT element-name (child-name)>Example:<!ELEMENT note (message)>
The example above declares that the child element "message" must occur once, and only once inside the "note" element.
Declaring Minimum One Occurrence of an Element (put + sign after the message)
    <!ELEMENT element-name (child-name+)>Example:<!ELEMENT note (message+)>
The + sign in the example above declares that the child element "message" must occur one or more times inside the "note" element.
Declaring Zero or More Occurrences of an Element  (put * sign after the message)
    <!ELEMENT element-name (child-name)>Example:<!ELEMENT note (message)>
The * sign in the example above declares that the child element "message" can occur zero or more times inside the "note" element.
Declaring Zero or One Occurrences of an Element (put ? sign after the message)
    <!ELEMENT element-name (child-name?)>Example:<!ELEMENT note (message?)>
The ? sign in the example above declares that the child element "message" can occur zero or one time inside the "note" element.
