Empty speakable commands window

hello , im relatively new to mac and i think ive trashed something already! i read on one of the discussions that it was ok to get rid of things like games if i was never going to use them,which i did. I now have an empty window where there used to be some commands for speech recog.!, is it because i got rid of chess? and can i do anything about it?, my voice recog was working ok before but now nothing!, thanks.

Hi David, Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Deleting your Chess.app would have no effect on Speech.I now have an empty window where there used to be some commands for speech recog.!If you mean that in System Preferences you have lost the icon for "Speech", I'd try trashing these 2 files:
Quit System Preferences then avigate to ~(yourHome)/Library/Caches/com.apple.preferencepanes.cache
Also ~(yourHome)/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
Then relauch System Preferences. If the problem is not the icon, let us know.

  • I am missing Speakable Items in the Speech commands window

    Hi there,
    I just realized that I can't command any speakable actions, I have NO commands in place in the speech commands window, and my -/user/library/speech/speakable items folder is empty.
    I am administrator and single user of my Mac
    I have no idea why it is empty, i suppose it has been like this from the day I have installed OSX, years ago now.
    I have tried to install OSX from scratch on a separate partition, and of course, with this new system, the commands are in the proper place and the speech commands works.
    However, when I re-import my profile with the SetUp assistant from the original partition, all the commands are lost, since the Speakable items folder is under my personnal home directory, it has just been copied, and left empty by the assistant with all my profile.
    Can anyone help me and tell me which items i should copy from/to where to have the speech commands working ????

    Same here.
    I copied the Speakable Items folder from my old computer, but it still won't work.
    I hope you get an answer!
    ANSWER! - I had the same problem. Open up your Speech and turn off speakable. Than go to commands select address book click on configure if there is any Name that has (NUL) uncheck it. than go and turn on speakable again. Your commands should be there!
    It worked for me! Good Luck!

  • Serveroutput in the command window of PLSQL Developer

    In sqlplus, I input the following SQL:
    SQL> set serveroutput on
    SQL> show serveroutput
    serveroutput ON SIZE UNLIMITED FORMAT WORD_WRAPPED
    SQL> select /*+ no_index(t1 idx_t1) */ * from t1 where n=3;
         N
         3
    SQL> select * from table(dbms_xplan.display_cursor(null,null,'advanced'));
    PLAN_TABLE_OUTPUT
    While I input the same SQL in PLSQL Developer:
    SQL> select * from table(dbms_xplan.display_cursor(null,null,'advanced'));
    PLAN_TABLE_OUTPUT
    SQL_ID     9babjv8yq8ru3, child number 0
    BEGIN DBMS_OUTPUT.GET_LINES(:LINES, :NUMLINES); END;
    NOTE: cannot fetch plan for SQL_ID: 9babjv8yq8ru3, CHILD_NUMBER: 0
    Please verify value of SQL_ID and CHILD_NUMBER;
    It could also be that the plan is no longer in cursor cache (check v$sql_plan)
    And the most important is:
    SQL> show serveroutput
    SQL>
    The result of it is empty.
    The reason for that is serveroutput is only supported in sqlplus not PLSQL? I know serveroutput is sqlplus language not SQL. However I use "show serveroutput" in command window of PLSQL Developer which is the same as sqlplus. What's the real reason for that?
    Thanks for your kindly reply.

    " If serveroutput is on when you call this function, the last statement you will have run will be the (hidden) call to dbms_output that follows your execution of any other statement – so you won’t get the plan and statistics."
    http://jonathanlewis.wordpress.com/2006/11/09/dbms_xplan-in-10g/
    "Luckily I recognized the line BEGIN DBMS_OUTPUT.GET_LINES(...); END; from the tkprof output files. It is what SQL*Plus does after each statement: flushing the dbms_output buffer to the screen. To have the dbms_xplan.display_cursor show what I want, I started writing a little script against V$SQL to get the latest "real" SQL-statement, but then I realised I cannot possibly be the first to encounter this problem. Googling led me to this very useful blog entry by Jonathan Lewis. It contains almost everything you want to know about the display_cursor function. A simple "set serveroutput off" is enough to get the function working! "
    http://rwijk.blogspot.nl/2008/03/dbmsxplandisplaycursor.html
    So, actually you should have set serverout off.
    Probably also depending on how you're gathering the execution plan statistics (you're not using the gather_plan_statistics hint?) and the SQL*Plus version and database version you're working with...

  • Zenworksuserdaemon.exe command windows hangs

    Hello all,
    We recently updated to 11.2.4 MU1 and I've noticed that on our Win7 x64 devices the zenworksuserdaemon opens a black command window that stays empty. It sits there for 4 or 5 minutes before finally disappearing. It does this every log in. It uses 0 of the CPU and about 18,500 k of memory. Doesn't seem like its really doing much, just kind of sitting there. There are a couple small bundles that run on login but they finish as expected and the black command window stays open long after they are finished running so I have no idea if there is any relation between zenworksuserdaemon.exe and run on login bundles.
    You can see an irrecoverable error in the log file below. Any help in a direction to go would be appreciated. Im not even fully sure what zenuserdaemon does so i don't even know where to begin troubleshooting.
    Thanks.
    I cleared the log file, logged out and back in. The window stayed open for about 4 minutes before closing and then i copied this log file.

    Both of those errors are just noise in the logs.
    They can occur during normal operations.

  • Define speakable command dialog box does not allow keyboard input

    According to article http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11447, one is supposed to easily be able to create speakable commands based on keyboard shortcuts:
    Open the app that contains the shortcut you want.
    Press the listening key (or speak the key, depending on your settings), and then speak the command “Define a keyboard command.”
    In the “Define keyboard command” window, use the keyboard shortcut (such as Command-S), and then click OK.
    Type the phrase you want to use to name the command, such as “Save document.”
    Step 4 doesn't work, because the dialog box won't permit any input or even allopw the cursor to be in the field.
    Any ideas on how to fix/work around this?

    Apple doesn't routinely monitor the discussions.
    Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

    Is this installation complete? How to resolve this?
    Please can any one help?
    Thanks very much
    Allan

    I ran into this problem. And it took me while to get it fixed, but It does work.
    First the TNS Desc is misleading. One would think that it would be host:port:sid. What it is really looking for is host:port:servicename. But if you want to use the "Change Tablespace" drop down list you need to, enter the sys password, change it to host:port:sid - Then use the drop list. And change it back before you press submit.
    The second thing that I found is that it wants to use the SYSTEM tablespace as temporary tablespace. THis is becuase it is looking for a temp tablespace called TEMP. If you look a the line default_temp = SYSTEM. And if you dont supply a tablespace it wanted to change it in the wfsysgnt.sql script in the $OH\wf\sql directory. You would think that what ever the default database tbs and temp tbs is - that owf would use that. No, it wanted to change it. Oracle needs to fix this.
    So here is how i fixed it. I had to create a temporary tablespace called TEMP, does not need to be big as I dropped it after it was done. Then i had to modify the wfinstall.csh script and use the install options. Not the /tablespace this option is obayed but it will try to use the SYSTEM as the temp tbs. Here is my example that I appended:
    /wfacct "owf_mgr" /wfpasswd "my_owf_mgr_pwd" /debug "true" /tnsConnDesc "my_host_ip:my_port:my_servicename" /syspasswd "change_on_install" /tablespace "OWF_TBS"

    Hi all I have a program that tracks the assets of a customer, kind of like a cart that holds cds, appliances, etc...
    I wanted to be able to print out the results to the command window after they enter the number of how many items from what the user enters after they press "current status" or if they "delete" their current items. I want it to keep doing this until they close the window and exit the program. People have told me to add the System.out.println to where it says "delete" or "current status" but Im not sure how to add it in I will attach the code here. Thanks

    I don't understand the question. Are you telling us you don't understand how to use System.out.println(...);? How do you debug programs without using this method?
    Usually the first program someone learns to write is something like:
    public static void main(String[] args)
        System.out.println("Hello World");
    after they press "current status" or if they "delete" their current itemsYou want to do some activity when the above actions occur. You must already have code in your program to do something in the above cases. So simply add the System.out.println(..) statements in the same part of code.

  • Error in WC dot 8 command window

    Hello -  I am struggling with this issue. I have created Managed Bean in WebCenter Portal Extension project (designwebcenterspaces) in Jdev 11.1.1.7 (just one method and register the bean request scope in faces-config).deployed the managed bean as WAR.  Managed Bean has OPSS API implementation and interacts with LDAP (against Default Provider in weblogic)
    updated the weblogic.xml with the above shared library (managed bean name) and deployed as extend.spaces.war .. have restarted the servers as required
    but as soon as i login to webcenter 8888 i get following error even before the home page show up..  Pl help what might go wrong OR is it a BUG in designwebcenterspaces ?
    Following is the stack from webcenter managed server  command window I get the very moment I hit the URL http://localhost:8888/webcenter       in browser

    There are two more bugs filed in Dot8 & Dot8 BP4 respectively :
    Bug 17173341 - NULLPOINTEREXCEPTION SEEN WHEN CREATING A PORTAL
    Bug 19682876 - NPE AT STARTUP.
    which are closed as a duplicate of the following bug pointed out by Kingsley_R
    Bug 17528953 - PORTAL CREATION THROWS NPE IN LOGS: DEVICESUPPORTUTILS.GETVALUE
    [ Source :: KM Note - NullPointerException seen in logs when starting up WebCenter Portal (Doc ID 1933824.1) ]
    FYI, The exception seen in the bug 19682876 is the closest match to the stack trace or exception from your query.
    The above bug 17528953 is already fixed in 11.1.1.9.0. You can request for a backport / one-off patch on top of Dot8 to see if it resolves the issue.
    I hope it helps!

  • How do I keep the command window open?

    I want to write a batch file that will leave the window open after running so I can see what the output is.
    I kind of remember having to use %k
    But I'm not sure exactly how to do it.
    UPDATE: I found what I was looking for, it's /k when you execute the command file.
    If anyone has any additional comments about scripting and keeping the command window open, please comment.

    Add "pause" to the end of the batch.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
