EMU 0404 Patch Mix DSP Questions.

Hi all,
This is pretty simple, and I haven't had a chance to really look through the manual completely but one time. I have the system completely setup the way I would like it to run at the moment(althought I haven't hooked up any external instruments for recording yet... other then my turntables) and, I'm working my way through the dsp plug-ins. I find some of them very useful (at least for experimentation for now). I was going to attempt to run a few mixes through the DSP plug ins that come with the mixer, but I'm not excatly sure how that is supposed to work with this system. Now, here are my questions:
I currently use logic audio, and I was wondering which way I can impliment these plug-ins into my current setup.
I also have an old version of Sound Forge. I normally do not use it much, but I was wondering if anything that I applied to the dsp mixer is automatically applied to any recording that I play. So if I put a plug-in for 3 band EQ, and then record in Forge/Logic, the same settings will automatically apply to each program during recording. Or are these plug-ins only applied to playback? And if it is only applied to playback, I would assume that I can not automate any of the settings. Or if I can, what program(s) would I have to use to automation the settings?
Thanks in advance,
chuck

I'm running a EMU 0404 Card on Windows XP SP2 Pentium 4 2.4ghz - 512MB RAM - 160GB HD
I've gone thru all possible settings in the patch mix and I'm not able to record any audio or midi using Cool Edit Pro II, Sonar 3, or Fruity Loops 4.5.
I can play audio and midi and I can hear the audio that is patched through the soundcard inputs but I can not record anything.
Please give me any information available related to recording and I'll be glad to weed through it. I've looked at the information on theEMU website and I've downloaded all updates available for Windows XP.
Sorry, but no help from me. Have you checked/asked at the Production Forums - Unofficial E-MU -forum already?

  • How do you separate tracks using effects with patch mix

I step record using a oxygen 8 for my midi stuff and then I use a few tracks of real time audio .I just purchased a e-mu 0404 heard good and bad about it but it seems once you get past all the software issues then, its a quality sound.so far I have a great sound coming out. but cant figure out alot of things so I'll just ask one more. patch mix dsp has alot of cool effects. how do i get those and keep them separate in my recording.using mutiple tracks so if i want to put reverb on drums ,and phaze tyhe guitar, and have the ability to mix down using the separate tracks recorded with different effects.

What software was used to produce the .tiff images?
If it came from Photoshop on a Windows computer, open it again in Photoshop on a Mac.
Save a copy using the Mac compression settings.

  • Need help with Emu 0404 and DSP Effects

    Hi,
This might be a bit of a noob question, but I'm completely new to the world of recording and effects. I have the Emu 0404 PCI soundcard and I'm trying to record sth with the DSP effects. I used the standard settings with ASIO send (PCI Card in L) and added effects, but when I use a recording program only the clean signal is recorded. I tried moving the send insert at the end of the list, but that didn't help. So how can I record sth with the DSP effects? I couldn't really find anythinguseful in the help file.

I have the same issue, anyone know a way around this? I have
a image i wish to grow onmouse over, then using the same behavior
but shrink with mouseout, it gets some wierd issues, like if you
put the mouse in between it oscillates back and forth, its not
    smooth.

  • EMU 0404 Problems -- need help please

Any help to my current issue would be greatly appreciated.
I recently bought the EMU PCI card on its own.
Im runnin a brand new top of the range pc on windows XP (im new to XP, windows 2000 and a mac user originally - so i may have just missed something)
But on my old windows 2000 machine with the standard on board soundcard, when i went to my sound settings (speaker in the corner) then, Properties > Recording....... i got a list of several options, such as - Line in, Stereo mix, wave out, etc...
In the past i used the stereo mix setting to stream music to potential customers via msn messenger, obviously streaming what my soundcard played.
After installing this soundcard, i now have no stereo mix or anything previous, only WAVE which i cant select or control the volume for, maybe because its on xp?? is there a way to record and stream (via msn) what your soundcard plays using the EMU 0404? i also used this setting to record sounds of the internet etc... Surely im being stupid? with an expensive upgrade to this soundcard from crappy on board? surely?
If so any help would be massivly appreciated...
    Thanks in advance

Thank you for you speedy reply mate.
Ive read the link you provided aswell as several other sites and the manual.
For some reason having the emu selected and enabled in the hardware settings instead of the on board soundcard it takes away all the recording settings in windows as i mentioned before.
Simply i can record with this soundcard, i just want to stream what my soundcard plays through msn, also wherever i look the only option for playback and recording i have is E-DSP Wave [Df00]....... ive gone throughout the patchmix, tried near every setting to stream what my soundcard plays.. im lost
    cheers

  • Soundcard woes with emu 0404

I have a Emu 0404 usb soundcard and its not on the list of cards from /proc/asound/cards. I know that for most people, at least in ubuntu, the card works when you plug it in. I had previously gotten it working by installing the alsa-driver from source, but after a recent upgrade this no longer works. I have tried recompiling and installing the alsa-driver but there are multiple errors when compiling. Can anyone help me getting this working?
Also if at all possible I'd like to try installing this patch from the ubuntu forums http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=888022&page=18

    update and bump.
I put snd-emu10k1 into the Modules list in rc.conf and the sound card is now shows up in the list of soundcards in alsamixer. snd_emu10k1 however still doesn't appear when I run lsmod.

I've tired compiling the alsa-driver from source however I get many errors. The error originally happened when I ran "./configure" it couldn't find a few "*.h" files. Using "./configure --with-kernel=/usr" configure works. But when I run "make" I get a bunch or errors "no such file or directory" with a lot of header files.
    Any ideas?

  • EMU 0404: no sound playin' DVD- video.

Used to work about a year on EMU 0404, but only recently wanted to play DVD, and there was no sound and no input signal on PatchMix Wave Host. I would be grateful if somebody could explain me how I should route it from DVD drive. I can play CDs, Video CDs and MPEG4 without any problem.

    Dave -
Well, would you look at that? That's why I put the pics up. I've since pulled the 0404 out of one computer and put it another so I could use it. Now, out of complete curiosity - I'm going to have reinstall it into the original machine to see if I simply overlooked the obvious as it's working perfectly in the second machine.
    Weird.
    Thanks, for the reply!

  • Emu 0404 USB - No sound thru headphones at the front - and very low volume

I can't get sound thru the headphones at the front of my Emu 0404 USB to monitor playback and recording. At the back, however, I can connect my headphones and also obtain sound but at a low level.
In sound settings the volume option is greyed, so no help there. I am using the Emu Asio ....otherwise the card seems good quality.

Do you mean you can't control volume in your software or system master volume controller at all? This normally means that you have not selected the system audio play/recording devices correctly or you have set output mode to bit-matched.
    Also,
    - you have a switch for Direct monitoring on top of the 0404 box
    - w/ Some software, you can't enable direct monitoring in siftware settings

  • Emu 0404 USB Constantly Set to Mute By Volume Control

I had my emu 0404 running with my onboard sound for a short while (because the 0404 would not work with voice chat software such as ventrillo).
I have since disabled the onboard sound and uninstalled the driver, but now upon every reboot of my system the sndvolume32.exe (aka Volume Control icon on the taskbar) will set the Wave component of the emu 0404 to mute. I'd rather not have to open up volume control everytime i reboot to unmute my sound. I have tried going through my registry and deleting any remaining trace of the onboard sound (RealTek HD Audio) but no good. I have even uninstalled and reinstalled the emu 0404 drivers many times, still no good. I'm also using XP 64-bit, but i don't know if that matters.
Can anyone tell me how I can stop volume control from setting the Wav output to mute upon rebooting?

Have you set the S/PDIF mode switch to coax and how 'bout monitoring settings? I've read some issues w/ those switches too (you may need to toggle On/Off couple of times to get switch working properly). There is also thei Unofficial E-MU Forum you can check/ask advicing - http://www.productionforums.com/index.php?f=52

  • EMU 0404 USB w SONAR 5 audio jitter

I just purchased EMU 0404 USB.
I configured SONAR 5 to see it.
    I used a pre-recorded drum loop (ACID)
    and recorded a guitar track
    but I get audio jitter
    what's the deal?

Have you attempted to contact Broadcom about this? My current take on such things:

thinks that the offending device's drivers can be fixed.

  • My EMU 0404 USB is not my friend right now.

Does anyone know what might be the problem?
I have a EMU 0404 USB connected to a USB 2.0 pci card (usb controller?). My computer is a 1.4 GHz Athlon processor and my motherboard is a Asus A7M2666. I have 756 DDR ram installed and run windows XP.
Basically the problem is that everything is very slow when I use this card. I have problem running my software synths (for example Korg Legacy Collection synths). I have tried many different settings and some works better than others. Nothing, when I ran everything on my crappy onboard sound card then I had no problems at all.
Does anyone know what the problem might be?

    Hi There,
I would say the issue is quite clearly not enough CPU power and memory.
Your on-board audio would be a 16bit audio at around 41kbps tops, moving up to 24bit 96kps ( the EMU box ) would place way extra overhead on your system. As would the driver requirements for you PCI USB 2 card.
I run cubase and Korg legacy on a 1.8GHz Athlon XP, and I have found even with 1GB ram it craps out with one Korg and a hand full of plug-ins.
Sorry but the short answer is to update your system, go for a new intel core duo and at least 1GB of DDR2.
    Cheers

  • Emu 0404 and Creative 5.1 Speakers

    Please help me...
I 've just bought an Emu 0404 but i don't know how can connect it to my 5.1 Creative speakers system...
I think i need some sort of "special" cable...but what?
I don't have enough money to buy two monitors...
    :mansad:

    Eric,
Which particular Creative speaker do you have? Most or all of our newer soundcard is able to support 5.1 or higher speaker system. Which soundcard do you have in mind to purchase now?

  • Emu 0404

Does anyone know of a DVD-Audio player available for the EMU 0404? I purchased a DVD of classical music formatted in the DVD-Audio standard and it ran fine in Windows Media Player. I suspect, however, that Windows Media Player was playing the music at 44.1 Khz or 48Khz by 16 bits rather than 48Khz at 24 bits. I checked the Windows Media Player web-site and it does not appear to support the DVD-Audio standard. Does anyone know if the Creative Labs DVD-Audio player will work with the EMU 0404?

Hey Stepn, I don't know if this will fix your problem but I had a similar problem and it worked for me. Check In your preferences, MIDI Filters and uncheck everything except sysex, you should get sound. Hope this helps.

  • EMU 0404 PCI and XP64 Bit, strange problem

    Hi,
I have Windows XP 64 Bit and the EMU 0404 PCI soundcard. I'm experiencing a problem whereby sound works on the computer upon startup for approximately 30 minutes to 2 hours and then stops working and starts randomly playing sound from the left or right.
I have tried so many things, i have installed, uninstalled, reinstalled the corresponding drivers but to no success. I have tried putting the soundcard in a different slow but still to no success.
I really do hope someone can help me out with this frustrating problem

Had the exact same problem on my 1820M in XP x64. See this thread for the workaround:
