    From two given tables, how do you fetch the values from two columns using values from one column(get values from col.A if col.A is not null and get values from col.B if col.A is null)?

    Hi,
    Use NVL or COALESCE:
    NVL (col_a, col_b)
    Returns col_a if col_a is not NULL; otherwise, it returns col_b.
    Col_a and col_b must have similar (if not identical) datatypes; for example, if col_a is a DATE, then col_b can be another DATE or it can be a TIMESTAMP, but it can't be a VARCHAR2.
    For more about NVL and COALESCE, see the SQL Language manual: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e26088/functions119.htm#sthref1310
    I hope this answers your question.
    If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all tables involved, and also post the results you want from that data.
    Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
    Always say which version of Oracle you're using (e.g., 11.2.0.2.0).

  • FSCM-COL program FDM_COLL_SEND_ITEMS checks business partner in KNA1

    We have a requirement to create a Business partner in FSCM-COL without creating any Customer master in FI (KNA1 table).  For each Customer invoice we have populated the Business partner (UDM_BP) in a free field (BSEG table).  Say customer ABC invoice #10000 will have the business partner XYZ assigned in BSEG field XREF1.  XYZ is not created as Customer in KNA1 but is created as Business partner in UDM_BP only.
    For sending FI-AR data to FSCM, we have changed the BADI logic of determination of Branch/Payer to get the Business partner from BSEG-XREF1 field not from KUNNR.   When FI-AR data is sent to FSCM using the program FDM_COLL_SEND_ITEMS, system checks whether Business partner XYZ is created in KNA1 table.  Is there any way to avoid creating XYZ as Customer in KNA1 since we would be duplicating 5k+ customer records.
    Request your ideas on this.
    Thanks,
    Siva Parvathala

    Hi,
    This is kind of strange as to why you want to do this.  Anyway you have 1 customer in FI-AR for whom you are generating the invoices.  So there is already a customer ABC.  You also have a BP XYZ.  Now why not use the standard itself and link the customer ABC with XYZ which is going to save all the efforts required for custom modifications.  For linking BP and Customer, it is not necessary that both should have the same number range.
    Also I don't think you can do the transfer without linking customer and BP.  Anyway I will check this and let you know.  But I am sure this is redundant work and you can use the standard itself for this.

  • How to read the content of a blob col along with other cols as pipe delimit

    Hi,
    I would like to read the blob content along with the other columns . Assume table TAB1 has columns Response_log, Empcode and Ename. Here Response_log col is a blob data type, and the content of the blob is an xml file.Now i would like to read the content of the xml file of response_log column along with Empcode and Ename as pipe delimited . or else the best option would be to write to a text file with name extract.txt with the data being pipe delimited .
    create  table tab1(
    response_log blob,
    empcode  number,
    ename  varchar2(50 byte)
    )Sample code goes something like the one below .
    select xmltype( response_log, nls_charset_id( 'char_cs' ) ).getclobval() || '|' || empcode || '|' || ename
    from tab1 Can I have any other alternate way for this.
    Please advice

  • Custom CSS-Applying selected background for all the cols in the report

    Hi,
    I am trying to set a particular background for all the columns in the report(not for all the projects,so that I can avoid option of manually setting background color for complete report.For this I thought custom CSS is best option.So edited custom.css(C:\OBI11g_Middleware\Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\web\app\res\s_blafp\b_mozilla_4) file with below code and went to the Answers-> Criteria->Choose Column->style-> check "Use Custom CSS Class"->MyCell
    Code used in custom.css
    .MyCell { background-color: #00ff00; font-style:italic; font-weight: bold;}
    Somehow I dont see the background color applied to any of the columns in report.Can anyone had successful attempt of this Custom CSS.Thanks in Advance.

    I am trying both the solutions.
    User 979493,
    I started manually writing the code instead of pasting and almost worked.In the mentioned below paths I dont have custom.css file,so I created one and manually entered below code.But does it work for only that particular column and not for all the columns.Is it supposed to work for all the columns or just that column.
    For example: I have 2 cols in the report,I used "Use Custom CSS Class" -> MyCell for the first column and when I ran results it shows background color for only col1 and not for col2.I thought this feature will apply background color for all the columns in the report.Please correct me if I am wrong.
    custom.css file content:
    .MyCell{background-color: #00ff00;font-style:italic;font-weight:bold;}

  • How to know the row and col numbers of a cell in JTable at mouseclicked

    Hi, I'm coding an app using swing and JTable, in this table I will display the records from a database, now, each time the user has click in any cell I want to display it value, whit this method:
        private void setpuntero(JTable table, int row, int col){
            Object o = table.getValueAt(row, col);
            System.out.println("Valor de la celda: "+o.toString());
    }The mouseclick event was coded like this:
                table.addMouseListener(new MouseAdapter() {
                    public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e) {
                        setpuntero(table, 1, 3);
                });My question is:
    how in the mouseClicked I can pass to setpuntero() method the dynamic values of the cell that the user clicked?
    In this example, setpuntero(table, 1, 3); I have chosen the cell(1,3) to display the value, but really I don't know how to capture those values dinamically using the mouse click
    Regards
    Herbert

    perhaps:
          public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent e)
            int row = table.getSelectedRow();
            int col = table.getSelectedColumn();
            String selected = table.getValueAt(row, col).toString(); // this will need to be changed if not String data
          }

  • Query to add a column in between existing cols of a table?

    HI All,
    I have two questions.
    1. Query to add a column in between existing cols of a table? (not at the end. This is view of an order of output fields in a report)
    2. How do I swap the contents of two columns in a table. Suppose in a table tab there are 2 cols , col1,col2 populated with some data.
    I need a query(probably) to swap the col1 and col2 values . NOT AS A RESULT SET, BUT IT NEEDS TO GET CHANGED IN THE TABLE.
    Please help !

    > 1. Query to add a column in between existing cols of
    a table? (not at the end. This is view of an order of
    output fields in a report)
    Not really sensible ito DBMS - it does not care how you want to view the data. The sequence and formats of columns are what you/the application need to specify in the SQL's projection clause.
    Also keep in mind to achieve this, the DBMS will need to rewrite the entire table to fit this new column in-between existing columns. This is not the best of ideas.
    The projection of rows is dealt with SQL statements - not with the physical storage implementation.
    > 2. How do I swap the contents of two columns in a

    I need a query(probably) to swap the col1 and col2
    values . NOT AS A RESULT SET, BUT IT NEEDS TO GET
    CHANGED IN THE TABLE.
    This seems to work:
    SQL> create table foo_tab( c1 varchar2(10), c2 varchar2(10) );
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into foo_tab select TO_CHAR(rownum), TO_CHAR(object_id) from user_objects where rownum < 11;
    10 rows created.
    SQL> commit;
    Commit complete.
    SQL> select * from foo_tab;

  • Replace Values for a Col under a Table using Replace Function in Sql Query

    Hi all
    I have a Custom Table by Name RESP_TABLE which stores the Responsibility Names under the Column RESPONSIBILITY.
    The Sample Value for this col is as follows :
    PF <CNTRY> Gl Analyst <CCY>.
    This <CNTRY> Stands for Country Short Name
    and <CCY> Stands for Currency.
    The <CNTRY> & <CCY> should be passed as a parameter at the run time.
    Based on the value given at the run time it should change accordingly.
    For example
    PF <CNTRY> Gl Analyst <CCY>
    <CNTRY> Value passed at runtime : BE
    <CCY> Value passed at runtime : CAD
    So the resulting value should be as follows :
    PF BE Gl Analyst CAD.
    I had already used the query given below :
    SELECT REPLACE(RESPONSIBILITY,'<CNTRY>','&MARKET') FROM RESP_TABLE.
    This works fine for Country Code alone but not for currency.
    I need both the Country Code and Currency Code to be changed to the respective values given at the runtime.
    Could anybody please help me on this ?
    Regards
    Nakul Venkataraman.

    Hi Nakul,
    Why not just adding another REPLACE to what you still have achieved? :)

  • Formatting for columns in group above report(non grp col)

    Hi
    I have a report that is group above. So for every record that appears in the group above, below is the corresponding fields. What I am trying to do is apply formatting like font, hide/show etc to the rows below. How can I do that.
    record1...............................<group above>...
    <corresponding columns-latest>
    <corresponding columns-old>
    record2...............................<group above>...
    <corresponding columns-latest>
    <corresponding columns-old>I want to be able to compare latest and old for a particular record and hide/show depending on if the value has changed. I only have one query for this report that is group above. Is it possible?

    Like you did select * from ....(select....)... In reports I wasnt able to create a col to col link for such cases. I need to have the db columns directly in select.
    Secondly, for a workaroudn i even changed that - next challenge was treating xmltype columns using xmlsequence as db columns. So if I have xmlsequence in my query, i cant create col to col link. I have 4 queries with unions. 2 have xmlsequence and 2 doesnt. When i create col to col link for cases with xlseq, it forces me to create a grp link... When i have queries without xmlseq, i can create the col to col link.

  • How to syncronise  2 cols in two different tables....

    In a form i have got 2 col EMPNO,ENATI....
    EMPNO ENATI
    12 02
    13 12
    14 34
    15 09
    16 10
    This has been created using DB wizard...
    now i have got other table where the values for this ENATI are stored...the table name is nationality_vu
    i.e SQL>select stlename from nationality_vu where stcode=018;
    output
    NATIONALITY
    GERMAN
    Now when i create a relationship between table1 and nationality_vu using DB wizard(join condition) and specify that i want 10 values to be dispalyed at the run time i only get the nationality of the empno where the cursor blinks......
    I had even written this code under WHEN_NEW_FORM INSTANCE
    begin
    select stlename into  :enati
    from nationality_vu
    where stcode=:enati;
    exception
    *     when no_data_found then*
    *     null;*
    end;
    i want the nationalities to be displayed in palce of thr code ...n i have tried many ways using trial n error but in vain...

    Hi!
    Are you sure you want to select the stlename value into the :enati column?
    Better create a non database item for the stlename value.
    Use your cursor for the stlename value in a when-validate-item trigger of :enati
    and in a post-query trigger on your block.
    Create a function for it:
    function get_stlename ( f_enati in nationality_vu.stcode%type ) return nationality_vu.stlename%type is
    begin
    if
      f_enati is null
    then
      return ( null );
    end if;
    for l_rec in ( select stlename
                   from nationality_vu
                   where stcode = :enati
                   and rownum = 1 ) loop
      return( l_rec.stlename );
    end loop;
    return ( null );
    end;then use it in the above mentioned triggers like:
    begin
    :block.stlename := get_stlename ( :block.enati );
    end;Btw: it is always better to use :block.item syntax in your code.
