Enable 802.11n - Need your inputs

Okay Guys need your input
I've heard that if you want to enable High Speed WLAN connection such as 802.11n you need to have you security settings as WPA2 and AES
Is this true?

Hi
Typically configuration guide - 802.11n configuration section listed this. Below is form 7.4 Config Guide section
"The 802.11n high-throughput rates are available on all 802.11n access points for WLANs using WMM with no Layer 2 encryption or with WPA2/AES encryption enabled."

  • What do I do to get my MBP to enable 802.11n?

I have been wondering why my internet connection wasn't as good as my girlfriend's who recently got a new MacBook, so I purchased the 802.11n enabler because in network utility it only had 802.11 a/b/g so I looked at the requirements and it was noted that the "n" came with Intel Core 2 Duo processors, but mine is just a simple 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo. I have upgraded to Leopard and the reason why I mention this is because I have also read that when upgraded to 10.5, Leopard automatically updates to enable 802.11n. Well I sit and wonder if something went wrong while updating? probably not, but I can't even install the AirPort Extreme Update 2007-002! @!#$? I have a mac, it runs 10.5.2 and the requirements for that update are 10.4.8 and higher, and an Intel-based Macintosh. I meet the requirements. Should I have had updated the Airport Extreme before updating to 10.5? Why is this a problem? it should be easy... right?

That's exactly what you need to do - and what I did a year ago. Check iFixit.com for instructions. Check this out

  • How to enable 802.11N extended network and WPA2 Personal Security?

    Hello,
I have an aiport express 802.11N, using Radio Mode 802.11N (5Ghz only) and set to "allow this network to be extended". At the same time the wireless security is set to "WPA2 Personal" (and the key defined). This router is also hooked up to the internet as the main bridge.
On the other side, I have an airport extreme set exactly the same way from a security standpoint (WPA2 Personal) and for this one, the wireless is set to "extend a wireless network".
    Both routers have their light green and my computer is wired to the airport extreme. The computer gets its IP address from the main dhcp server and I can FTP to any ftp site; I can ping any machines on my network;
Now the problem:I can not browse the internet nor ping any website. Http traffic is completely blocked.
If I reset the security to none on both routers, I can then access the internet without any problem.
Has anybody been succesful with this configuration and what am I doing wrong?

You need to download and install the AirPort Extreme 802.11n* Enabler for Mac. But it will cost you --- $1.99. Order it from the Apple Store:

  • Enabler won't enable 802.11n

I am installing an Airport Extreme and upgrading 2 iMacs to 802.11n.
The first iMac went great - it shows that it is n-enabled.
The second iMac, newer and it is Core 2 Duo, won't n enable. I did all of the updates - I'm on 10.4.8 - and there are no error messages.
This is driving me nuts - what can I do.

I am determining that the n has not been enabled by launching Network Utility - Info - Network Interface (en1) shows 802.11 a/b/g. The other iMac is showing 802.11 a/b/g/n.
I ran the installer (the CD that came in the package. It shows that it is installing the Airport Extreme Update 2007-001 (I've also downloaded this separately and installed it alone).
The enabler will allow the 802.11n of the wireless network card to be usable. I need the range and hopefully speed boost that the 802.11n is supposed to deliver.
    Anybody else have any ideas????
    Thanks,
    Mitch

  • How do I know if my airport Extreme 802.11n needs updated firmware based on heart bleed issue using Mavericks?

I have Mavericks on oour laptops. I have an Airport Extreme 802.11n WI-FI not sure when I bought it. THe article by Tim Cook and Heartbleed issue is very technical and only mentions Leopard operating system. So do not know if I need to upgrade firmware or not. Not sure I undertand "Back to my Mac" or what to do? Also have an airport express.

    it doesn't
only the newer AC/tower designed models required the updated firmware

  • Can not enable 802.11n on my MacBook (Core 2 Duo) running Snow Leopard.

My MacBook has the AirPort card saying "a/b/g", so I know that it is not yet n-enabled.
It is INDEED a Core 2 Duo.
    It is running Snow Leopard.
When I try install the enabler off of my "AirPort Extreme: 802.11n Wi-Fi Wireless Base Station" disc, it tells me that "This volume does not meet the requirements for this update.".
Is there ANYTHING that I can do?

  • WebCenter 11g Ps3 Tutorial: need your input

I am starting a little new project. The idea is to build a hands on tutorial about webcenter ps3. In the tutorial you will build a complete webcenter portal from scratch. I will explain every single line of code we will write. We will start with a regular webcenter portal application and build from there on so no pre build application were we only do a few modification. Everything will be explained from scratch.
By the end of the tutorial you should be able to build a fully portal by yourself.
I have an outline ready for the tutorial but i also want your input. If you guys want a topic covered in the tutorial, please let me know and i can consider it adding it to the tutorial.
You can leave a comment here or add it to my blogpost about it: http://www.yonaweb.be/coming_soon_webcenter_11g_ps3_tutorial

Its sounds good, We are looking for the following things,
    1) JSR 286 Portlet Creation and communication between the portlets
    2) Template Creation(Header, Footer, Left menu templates like)
    3) Multi skin facility(Theme based on the user choice)

  • Enabling 802.11n

    Hi:
Just received my Apple TV and am trying to get the most out of my network. I have previously purchased an Airport Extreme base station and have the network up and running. I have checked the Network Utility and it is telling me I am presently running 802.11 a/b/g, but not "n".
I have downloaded the enabler (even though I understand it also comes with the basestation software as well). When I try to run the software, I keep getting a message stating "Your computer does not meet the hardware requirements for this update".
I am presently using a 20" Intel IMac - what am I doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance!

    C2D only on that iMac.

  • Enabling 802.11n on the 861-w ISR

    Hello,
I'm attempting to configure 11n on the 861W router integrated access point. I've configured
    speed basic-1.0 2.0 5.5 11.0 6.0 9.0 12.0 18.0 24.0 36.0 48.0 54.0 m0. m1. m2. m3. m4. m8. m9. m10. m11. m12. m13. m14. m15.
But still can't connect faster than 54Mb. Are there any comprehensive instructions for how this works?
    Any help surely appreciated.

Thanks for your reply - much appreciated.
What I was trying to say was my test client only had one antenna, since it's an old Dell 8200 with an newer "n" card in it. But I was able to rig two more antennas (antenni?). I was also able to set "channel width 40-above" on the 861-W. Now, on the client utility I get receive rates poping up to 300 Mbps and transmit rates in the 108 to 168 range.
According to Table 2 on this page:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6366/products_tech_note09186a0080a3443f.shtml
that signifies a guard interval of 800ns on transmit, but 400ns on receive.
Is there a command to explicitly set the guard interval?
RRodichev, I am also wondering what leads you to believe that the 861-W is 2.4 GHz only? I don't see anything in the data sheet about frequency bands.
Finally, there is anyone who knows what all of the codes are in the
    #show dot11 statistics client-traffic
    command mean?

  • Desire to replace my hard drive... need your input!

I have an almost 3 year old Powerbook and I am in need of more space. My 100 gig hard drive is being stretched thin by work and I tire of carrying around mutliple 4gig-80gig externals.
So I would love to put in a 160 gig hard drive to help simplify things (not to mention I was told it's not a horrible idea to replace a HD after 3 years) and throw my 100 in an external case as backup.
So I looked on Newegg and found a Western Digital for about $110 then I called my local Apple Authorized retailer (Firsttech, who I have generally had good experiences) to check on prices if I didn't want to do it myself.
    The quoted me:
    $180 for the drive
$125 for transfering everthing to the new drive
$125 for labor to replace the drive
This all seems a little steep to me. Can I get your guys thoughts on this?
I saw the forum post about how to replace the hard drive yourself and it looks do-able, but I have never dug into my Powerbook any further than RAM replacement.
    What do you guys think?
    2.66 Mac Pro 2gigs RAM ATI and 7300 cards; Powerbook G4 17in   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

To do the transfer before hand put the drive you are about to swap in inside a Firewire hard drive case and use Shirt-Pocket Superduper to clone your information.
    http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html
Test its ability to boot your machine, and then it is ready to be transferred internally.
Then you'll have a clone which can be moved into your internal.
http://www.macsales.com/ offers Firewire hard drive cases for 2.5" Parallel ATA drives.
And then in the future, simply update your backup with Superduper to another Firewire hard drive of equivalent or greater size, and use the old internal for one of your archival storage mediums.

  • Macbook will not enable 802.11n

I have installed the software that came with the router several times and it still won't show /n. I don't want to buy the enabler if I already have it.

bellfam, Welcome to the discussion area!
Go to the Apple menu. Select "About this Mac". Does it say "Core Duo" or "Core 2 Duo"?
If it says "Core Duo", your MacBook does not have the 'n' hardware and is not compatible with the enabler.

  • Need your inputs..

    Hi,
I need to generate report, if PO payment term not matched to vendor default payment term.
PO related fields are available in this datasource 2LIS_02_ITM , So I can load the data into 0PUR_O01 ODS.
Vendor related fields are available in this info object 0VENDOR_ATTR.
Now my question is how to combine these two and generate the non matched list of PO payment terms?

use MP of infoset on top of the info object and DSO and compare the values in the report.

  • Midi gurus need your input please

    Hey guys,
My question seems quite simple, but I'm just making sure I'm not doing something that's gonna cause issues.
    The setup.
MOTU 828MkII (has 1 in 1 out midi)
M-Audio 88es controller (just midi out)
    Mackie Universal Controller (1 each)
    Mackie Extender controller (1 each)
    Mackie C6 (1 each)
considering the above setup, I need to get them all hooked up right to Logic. Do I simply get a MOTU MIDI Express XT USB, or ????
Can I just daisy chain them? (out the m-daudio, into the MUC, out that to MEC, out that to MC6, out that to 828 which is connected via firewire to Mac) If so is there a drawback?
I'm not too up and up on how to best get midi hooked and performing right, so any help would be greatly appreciated. I just got the Mackie stuff, so I am a bit baffled by what the best way to connect things is. Mackie recommends some kind of Midi 'patch bay', but before I drop another couple hundred bucks wanted to make sure I needed to and am doing it right.
    Thanks
    R

If you can find a used Unitor 8mk2.. get it. maybe there is one on ebay.
They work really well with Logic.
I also have a motu midi timepiece that works well.
    Both have SMPTE ins.
The other guys are correct, you need a separate port for each piece of control surface.
So a multi-port midi interface is what is needed. The models I mantion have smpte (LTC) as well.
