Enable Cookies - No "Security Icon" in Preferences

Going to Safari Help tells me that I should click on Safari - Preferences - Security to enable cookies on sites that I want to navigate. However, when I go to Safari - Preferences there is no icon or button for "Security". What's up with that?

Welcome to Apple Discussions
Adding to Yang's helpful suggestion, if you want to create better control over your cookie file, have a look at SafariPlus. Very easy to use, and makes the handling of cookies a breeze.

  • I need to apply for a job but I'm told I need to enable cookies and java script, how do I do that?  I can't find it in system preferences

I need to apply for a job but I'm told I need to enable cookies and java script, how do I do that?  I can't find it in system preferences
I just updated to the new operating system which i'm starting to think was a bad idea, because it reset all my settings and I don't know how to fix them.

so when I go to safari>preferences>security>uncheck box labled enable java script  links on webpages don't work and pictures and links son't want to appear on websites.  this made it so webpages don't want to work past loading the content in text format.  I have to check enable java script to go the webpages to work right so images and links work again but when I try to apply for this job the error message pops up saying I need to enable cookies and java script.
SO I GUESS MY QUESTION IS IF JAVA SCRIPT IS ALREADY ENABLED HOW TO I ENABLE COOKIES?

  • I have a Mac OS 10.6.7 running Firefox 4.0.1. What happened to the enable cookies in Preference/Privacy. It's gone I need to enable. Thanks.

    Question
I have a Mac OS 10.6.7 running Firefox 4.0.1. What happened to the enable cookies in Preference/Privacy. It's gone and I think I need to enable. I can't log on to Citibank to pay my bills using Firefox or Safari for that matter. Citibank says cookies must be enabled to access their on-line bank. I wonder if this is the problem...cookies that is?

Yes, I found the cookies, and thanks for taking the time to help out. I called Citibank. They told me that they will not support Firefox or Safari for Mac because our user group is too small for them and the expense too high. The person that I spoke to said in the past, Firefox has worked with Citi, but that was just by accident. At the moment they have no plans to help Mac people using the latest OS log onto their website or enable programs like my Quicken or Mint.com to access. They don't work anymore either. I think all the problems happened after the last OS update.

  • Security Icon in System Preferences Disappeared

Just recently I have a recieved a Wireless Mighty Mouse and in the process of installing the software that came with it, my security icon in System Preferences has disappeared. It shows a lightswitch instead. Any ideas? Here is a picture:

    thefarky,
Quit System Preferences if it's running and trash the following file:
    Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Caches/com.apple.preferencepanes.cache
Then launch System Preferences and hopefully the Security Icon will return to normal appearance.
    ;~)

  • How to enable cookies to watch video clips??

I was sent a link to a website to watch video clips (educational training).
On the registration page it tells me I will need to "enable cookies" in order
to watch the video clips-please adjust your browser settings. It tells me what I have to do but not how.
I've gone to quicktime preferences and everything seems like it's on the correct settings.
    Any clues?
    Thanks
    Kosmc4

    There is some confusion here.
Firstly you cannot run Safari 4.0.4 with the operating system you show, 10.4.10, you need to update to 10.4.11 AND install the latest Security updates.
Secondly, when you open Safari Preferences you get the following icons:
General, Appearance, Bookmarks, Tabs, RSS, Autofill, Security, Advanced.
In the small Preferences window, top right-hand corner, do you see a small oval 'button'?
    Try clicking on that.

  • How do I enable cookies on safari 7.0

I am trying to purchase movie tickets and it tells me to enable cookies.. I tried safari, preferences, security but there is no "allow cookies" that I can see.

In Safari > Safari menu > Preferences > Privacy change your choice for Block cookies and other website data. Changing that to Never would be the equivalent of allowing all cookies.
    Best of luck.

    Hello sharon139.
In Safari, click on Safari in the upper left of your screen and then click on Preferences.  Go to the Security tab...... see below.  Select either Never or From third parties......   That should do it.

  • Enabling cookies

How do I enable cookies in Safari?

I found the location. It is not in "system preferences" on the bottom row of (hideaway) tabs. It is in the upper left corner of the screen under the Safari tab, beside the apple icon. Once there, one can go to preferences and privacy, and the cookies options comes up. Hope this helps. I was unable to find it on the bottom row of icons in system preferences. Seems wuzradioman told of this location but I did not notice at the time. Hope this helps!

  • Why can't I login to Firefox Accounts to set up Sync? FF30+ keeps telling me to Please enable cookies; cookies ARE enabled, already tried Safe Mode.

Exactly what it says on the tin.
Why can't I log-in to Firefox Accounts to set up Sync from my laptop PC? FF30+ keeps telling me to Please enable cookies; cookies ARE enabled, and I already tried Safe Mode. This has been happening ever since the new Sync was implemented, so I'm guessing around FF 30. I am now up to FF version 34 and it still isn't working. I have not been able to sync since the "update."
Problem #1: Going to about:accounts and clicking on the blue Get Started button opens a blank screen. There isn't even a prompt about cookies. It's just blank. Screen shot attached.
This is before add-ons are disabled. If they're disabled in Safe Mode, we go to Problem #2.
Problem #2: I skimmed a thread (https://github.com/mozilla/fxa-content-server/issues/1017) and tried logging in to Sync through accounts.mozilla.com instead, but though the screen doesn't turn blank while add-ons are still enabled, the "Enable cookies" warning is as far as I can get. Going to about:accounts in Safe Mode has the same result. I have cleared all my cookies and my cache, restarted FF multiple times with and without add-ons enabled, and still nothing. I have browsed this support forum for similar questions, and while other people are having the same issue, none of the other threads have been resolved yet. Several FF versions later, this is way too long for this issue to still be unresolved.... Screen shot attached.
I know where Firefox's cookie manager is located, and I have toggled all the settings. I even allowed third-party cookies (though I really shouldn't since they're pointless). No difference. Screen shot attached.
I looked in about:config and searched for the word "cookie" in the names, but even doing that is pointless for me since I'm not a programmer and hence ignorant in what all these settings actually mean. Screen shot attached.
I'm at the end of my rope here, guys. It's been months. A year. Maybe more than a year; I don't even know anymore. I just got a new device and I don't want to add all my Firefox information to it one-by-one. There doesn't seem to be any way to contact Mozilla directly, so.... Someone help, please....

NoScript stops cookies, please disable this addon/extension as well as make sure that the language en-us is installed.
    # 1) Open up the Firefox Preferences tab. You can do this by typing about:preferences in the URL bar.
    # 2) Click "Content"
    # 3) Next to "Languages", click "Choose"
    # 4) Select "English/United States [en-us]", click "Add"
    # 5) re-open "about:accounts"
    # 6) Click "Get Started"
    </blockquote>
Thank you for replying. Unfortunately, I already did all of these things. As you can see from the below screenshot, the language is already set. Also, this screenshot was taken in Safe Mode, so NoScript is not enabled. About:accounts still says I need to enable cookies for some reason. So, this solution didn't work....
