Enable Creative Volume Panel in System T

Hello all,?Advanced computer/server engineer here, but I can't seem to overcome the simple task of getting the system tray icon for creative up and running...never had this problem before but for some reason I can't figure it out. I have a Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum with CD install and newest drivers from creatives website. Anyone have any ideas?Regards,Malhovic

During the installation, did you do a custom install and check the box to add the ?"Creative Volume Panel" app in the setup? If not add the app in the Control Panel/Add and Remove/Sound Blaster X-Fi , Add the "Creative Volume Panel" app there. Or maybe do a repair of the Sound Blaster X-Fi installation, this sometimes fixes the problem.

Ok, so I just installed the latest version of my X-Fi Fatalty Champ drivers and the Creative Console. I restarted my computer and now I when I double click on teh Creative Volume panel, it doesn't open up. I can right click it and it brings up the Mode changer and all that stuff, but not the actually Volume Panel. How can I fix this? It has happened to me before but I have no idea what I did last tiem to fix it. This is really starting to get on my nerves. I could really use some help here, =/

  • Creative Volume panel missing somethi

On the volume panel for my new XFI Extreme gamer control panel I do not see two things that are actually shown on the beack of the box. There is a decoder for DTS and Dolby Digital shown on the panel in the pic, but they don't exist on my version. What happened to them? Is this why i cannot, with my new card, get digital out of my Logitech Z-680's? I have my coax to mini plug installed properly and all the S-PDIF settings right on my DVD player.

The newer soundcards (Including : Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatalty Pro Series SB046A, Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Fatalty Champion Series SB046A, Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro SB055A) no longer has the DTS and Dolby Digital Hardware decoding. Therefore you will not see these options. Just through a software level, such as the included free download of the software : Cyberlink PowerDVD Version 6 OEM DTS/Dolby Digital.
If you have the Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer SB073A, this too includes a?free download of the software : Cyberlink PowerDVD Version 6 OEM DTS/Dolby Digital.
Also, the Cyberlink PowerDVD Version 6 OEM DTS/Dolby Digital will only work in Windows XP SP2.

  • Creative Control Panel taskbar icon for XtremeGa

I recently reformatted my computer, and lost the taskbar icon that allows you to change the volume, change the mode (Game, Entertainment, Media), and have been trying to get it back.
I've downloaded the latest drivers and the "Creative Console" for the XtremeGamer, but have yet to find what I'm looking for. I'm pretty sure I've looked through the options in the creative console, and there isn't any mention of enabling a taskbar icon. Where can I find what I'm looking for?
    Thanks.

Funny i'm looking for the same thing at the moment. its not the console i think it might be the creative volume panel but i'm not sure. was gonna look for it now but i gotta get up in a few hrs for work. have a look on the original cd if you have it. or the dank drivers cd as i've borrowed bits from that disc to add to the beta drivers atm. from the description in the drivers install though it does appear to be the creative volume panel application.

  • 5.1 Option has vanished from Creative volume control...

I have Creative's 5800 5.1 speaker system, and creative volume control on my computer. Used to be, I could just select 5.1 in the creative volume control settings and there you have it. Magically this seems to have vanished from the Speaker/headphone selection options leaving me only with 4.1 and 7.1 as options. Any idea why or how I may get the 5.1 option back?

Managed to answer my own question if you install the creative console launcher version 2.60.29 it installs the volume panel as well and you can then install the newer version of the console launcher which will uninstall the older console launcher but leave the volume panel in place. i would say one thing though i'm surprised creative seem to have removed this usefull add-on (volume panel) installer from the newest creaitve console launcher install as i find it a far better volume control than windows and would think they would ship it with all versions of the console launcher not just the older one avaliable for [email protected]

  • Windows Server 2012 - Hyper-V - Cluster Sharded Storage - VHDX unexpectedly gets copied to System Volume Information by "System", Virtual Machines stops respondig

We have a problem with one of our deployments of Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V with a 2 node cluster connected to a iSCSI SAN.
    Our setup:
Hosts - Both run Windows Server 2012 Standard and are clustered.
HP ProLiant G7, 24 GB RAM. This is the primary host and normaly all VMs run on this host.
HP ProLiant G5, 20 GB RAM. This is the secondary host that and is intended to be used in case of failure of the primary host.
We have no antivirus on the hosts and the scheduled ShadowCopy (previous version of files) is switched off.
    iSCSI SAN:
    QNAP NAS TS-869 Pro, 8 INTEL SSDSA2CW160G3 160 GB i a RAID 5 with a Host Spare. 2 Teamed NIC.
    Switch:
DLINK DGS-1210-16 - Both the network cards of the Hosts that are dedicated to the Storage and the Storage itself are connected to the same switch and nothing else is connected to this switch.
    Virtual Machines:
    3 Windows Server 2012 Standard - 1 DC, 1 FileServer, 1 Application Server.
1 Windows Server 2008 Standard Exchange Server.
All VMs are using dynamic disks (as recommended by Microsoft).
    Updates
We have applied the most resent updates to the Hosts, VMs and iSCSI SAN about 3 weeks ago with no change in our problem and we continually update the setup.
    Normal operation:
Normally this setup works just fine and we see no real difference in speed in startup, file copy and processing speed in LoB applications of this setup compared to a single host with two 10000 RPM Disks. Normal network speed is 10-200 Mbit, but occasionally
we see speeds up to 400 Mbit/s of combined read/write for instance during file repair.
    Our Problem:
Our problem is that for some reason a random VHDX gets copied to System Volume Information by "System" of the Clusterd Shared Storage (i.e. C:\ClusterStorage\Volume1\System Volume Information).
All VMs stops responding or responds very slowly during this copy process and you can for instance not send CTRL-ALT-DEL to a VM in the Hyper-V console, or for instance start task manager when already logged in.
This happens at random and not every day and different VHDX files from different VMs gets copied each time. Some time it happens during daytime wich causes a lot of problems, especially when a 200 GB file gets copied (which take a lot of time).
    What it is not:
We thought that this was connected to the backup, but the backup had finished 3 hours before the last time this happended and the backup never uses any of the files in System Volume Information so it is not the backup.
    An observation:
When this happend today I switched on ShadowCopy (previous files) and set it to only to use 320 MB of storage and then the Copy Process stopped and the virtual Machines started responding again. This could be unrelated since there is no way to see
how much of the VHDX that is left to be copied, so it might have been finished at the same time as I enabled  ShadowCopy (previos files).
    Our question:
Why is a VHDX copied to System Volume Information when scheduled ShadowCopy (previous version of files) is switched off? As far as I know, nothing should be copied to this folder when this functionis switched off?

Please only answer our question and do not offer any general optimization tips that do not directly adress the issue! We want the problem to go away, not to finish a bit faster!

    Hallo Lawrence!
Thankyou for youre reply, some comments to help you and others who read this thread:
First of all, we use Windows Server 2012 and the VHDX as I wrote in the headline and in the text in my post. We have not had this problem in similar setups with Windows Server 2008 R2, so the problem seem to be introduced in Windows Server 2012.
These posts that you refer to seem to be outdated and/or do not apply to our configuration:
    The post about Dynamic Disks:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee941151(v=WS.10).aspx is only a recommendation for Windows Server 2008 R2 and the VHD format. Dynamic VHDX is indeed recommended by Microsoft when using Windows Server 2012 (please look in the optimization guide
    for Windows Server 2012).
Infact, if we use fixed VHDX then we would have a bigger problem since fixed VHDX are generaly larger then Dynamic Disks, i.e. more data would be copied and that would take longer time = the VMs would be unresponsive for a longer time.
The post "What's the deal with the System Volume Information folder"
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/archive/2003/11/20/55764.aspx is for Windows XP / Windows Server 2003 and some things has changed since then. for instance In Windows Server 2012, Shadow Copies cannot be controlled by going to Control panel -> System.
Instead you right-click on a Drive (i.e. a Volume, for instance the C drive/Volume) in Computer and then click "Configure Shadow Copies".
Windows Server 2008 R2 Backup problem
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/windowsbackup/thread/0fc53adb-477d-425b-8c99-ad006e132336 - This post is about the Antivirus software trying to scan files used during backup that exists in the System Volume Information folder and we do not
have any antivirus software installed on our hosts as I stated in my post.
    Comment that might help us:
So according to “System Volume Information” definition, the operation you mentioned is Volume Shadow Copy. Check event viewer to find Volume Shadow Copy related event logs and post them.
    Why?
Furhter investigation suggests that a volume shadow copy is somehow created even though the Schedule for Shadows Copies is turned off for all drives. This happens at random and we have not found any pattern. Yesterday this operation took almost all available
disk space (over 200 GB), but all the disk space was released when I turned on scheduled Shadow Copies for the CSV.
    I therefore draw these conclusions:
The CSV Volume has about 600 GB of disk space and since Volume Shadows Copy used 200 GB, or about 33% of the disk space, and the default limit is 10% then I conclude that for some reason the unscheduled Volume Shadow Copy did not have any limit (or ignored
    the limit).
When I turned on the Schedule I also change the limit to the minimum amount which is 320 MB and this is probably what released the disk space. That is, the unscheduled Volume Shadow Copy operation was aborted and it adhered to the limit and deleted the
Volume Shadow Copy it had taken.
I have also set the limit for Volume Shadow Copies for all other volumes to 320 MB by using the "Configure Shadow Copies" Window that you open by right clicking on a drive (volume) in Computer and then selecting "Configure Shadow Copies...".
It is important to note that setting a limit for Shadow Copy Storage, and disabaling the Schedule are two different things! It is possible to have unlimited storage for Shadow Copies when the Schedule is disabled, however I do not know if this was the case
Before I enabled Shadow Copies on the CSV since I did not look for this.
I now have defined a limit for Shadow Copy Storage to 320 MB on all drives and then no VHDX should be copied to System Volume Information since they are all larger than 320 MB.
Does this sound about right or am I drawing the wrong conclusions?

There is something strange about the limits on the Secondary host!
I have not in any way changed the settings on the Secondary host and as you can see, the Secondary host has a maximum limit of only 35 MB storage on the CSV, but it also shows that this is 10% of the Volume. This is clearly not the case since 10% if 600
    GB = 60 GB!
The question is, why does it by default set a too small limit (i.e. < 320 MB) on the CSV and is this the cause of the problem? I.e. is the limit ignored since it is smaller than the smallest amount you can provide using the GUI?
Is the default 35 MB maximum Shadow Copy limit a bug, or is there any logical reason for setting a limit that according to the GUI is too small?

  • Vista SP1 and Volume Panel, X-Fi

System is Vista Business SP x86 with Soundblaster X-FI Extreme Music. Tray Icon works, but the Volume Panel doesn't open. It is a new clean install.

Re: Volume Panel is missing with newest X-Fi driver and Vista SP< To : andyr2005
    Please READ carefully!
Like I've said in my post, The download file "Creative Console Launcher 2.60.29" is the ONLY update that has the Volume Panel software.
2.60.35A and 2.6.09 does NOT!, I known what for a long time.
Thus, downloading and extract the file "Creative Console Launcher 2.60.29" to get only the Volume Panel software and install.
Then, download and Install the latest "Creative Console Launcher 2.6.09" software.
I've done this many many MANY times and I know what I'm doing and I'm saving time, not wasting time.
Wasting time is installing all three updates, instead of just the Volume Panel software and the "Creative Console Launcher 2.6.09" update.

  • Volume panel and subwoofer gain

    hello,
last week i had install windows 7 (i had xp before) my sound card is XFI audio and i notice that since i install windwos 7 the subwoofer is not working , i remember that in windwos xp i had volume panel and there was option about subwoofer gain .
but when i install console luncher under win7 i get crackle/disturbance but without the console luncher everithing is ok.
so i am asking if there is any other option to enable subwoofer gain under win7 witout install console luncher?

are you using 5, speaker system ? i think you are not . because if you are trying this on 2. sound system , sub woofer output is not working . sub woofer output is working only on 5, or more . with that option sub woofer output is start to work .
and which x-fi product you are using ? on console launcher there is option for extra bass output . but as i said if you using only 2. sound system (i mean only left and right speaker) you will not any sound from your sub woofer (of course if you connect ?your sub woofer to sound card directly ?)
if you can give more details about your specs we can help you more better

Can you try making sure that the bluetooth driver from Lenovo support site is installed,
If your system is running Windows 8, Check the Lenovo Energy Management 7 version is installed. If not

  • Vista x64 SP2 Install Broke My Volume Panel

    Hi,
    As subject says.
I installed Vista x64 SP2 yesterday and now my microphone wont work because?in the control panel it says Microphone FP not connected.
This is obvious I dont have a front panel!
I used to change this in the Volume Panel and all would be well except now I have installed SP2 it wont let me load the volume panel.
It shows up in my task bar next to the clock and I can right click on it. It says Creative SB X-FI and I can select the Enable?DTS etc etc so the driver is installed ok but when I double click it to get the volume panel on screen nothing happens.
It doesnt even come up with an error.
I have tried uninstalling everything and reinstalling = nothing.
Then done an auto update, still nothing.
I hope someone can help, its really annoying not being able to talk to anyone over TS.
    My specs are
    Asus P5KE
    Core 2 Quad Q6600
    GeForce GTX260
    4 x gb 066mhz memory
    2 x WD Raptors RAID0
    Soundblaster X-FI Titanium Fatalty PCI-E
    Logitech Z5500 Digital Surround Sound
    Vista x64 Ultimate
    Thanks in advance

    Excellent all fixed.
Not as easy as we thought though.
First had to uninstall everything via add remove programs.
Then deleted everything I could find that related to Creative.
I found stuff in Program Files / Program Data & Program Files (x86)
Unfortunately I couldnt delete it all because it was in use, so had to reboot in safe mode and delete it all from there.
Then installed the package you suggested and indeed Volume Panel and everything else works again.
    Thank You

  • How Can I Enable "Creative S/W Synth" in Windows

I have a "Sound Balster Li've! 5." sound card and I'm using Windows XP. When I was using Windows ME before, the MIDI output devices that were available in WinME were:- A: SB Li've! MIDI Synth2- B: SB Li've! MIDI Synth3- Creative S/W Synth4- MIDI Mapper
BUT, when I'm using Windows XP, the third and the fourth outputs disappeared and they were replaced with:- SB Li've! MIDI UART- Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth
How can I enable "Creative S/W Synth" in Windows XP? Can't it be available in WinXP, or is there a way to enable it's Even if that MIDI device output is of low quality.

I want to know how to enable that MIDI output device. I don't know if it's related to soundfonts or not. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the sound card drivers many times, but I couldn't enable that MIDI device. Do you think it is related to the drivers of the sound card. I really like that MIDI device and want it to be my default MIDI device. The system that I'm using is:
    Pentium 4 - .7 GHz
    256 MB RAM
    Windows XP Service Pack 2
    The sound card is:
    Sound Blaster Li've! 5.
    Thank you.

  • Security panel in System Preferences

Once I upgraded from OS X server 10.5 to 10.5.6, the security panel no longer shows the firewall tab in System Preferences. Why is that?
Before I upgraded, I clicked on the 3rd choice "Set access for specific services and applications" then I clicked on "Advanced" and clicked on both choices there, "Enable Firewall Logging" and "Enable Stealth Mode". Under 10.5.6 none of this is available anymore.
Is the security panel in System Preferences being overridden by the Server Preferences? The server set to the basic mode. The only control I have now is in Server Preferences either to turn the Firewall on or off.
I did do permissions repair before upgrading.
