  • Delta cache or compression

    Hi,
I am now investigating delta cache.
if data are compressed on the cube, delta cache cannot be used. And I have heard compression is still recommended and delta cache is less important than compression.
But I think it is best when only older requests are compressed and leave some request not to be compressed on the cube,if delta cache still work, it is best to do so (and then aggregations should also have request for delta cache).
if something wrong ore there are other good way, please point them out. (excuse me, for some reason I cannot be test now..)
    Kind regards,
    Masaaki

    <b>Delta cache-</b>
The delta process enables individual data from a query to be inserted into the cache. In this way, when they are changes to the data basis, the complete data for the query no longer has to be read from the database again. The results of a query are thus independent of whether the data is read directly from the database or from the cache.
A complete restructuring of the cache is always necessary, however, if metadata, master data , hierarchies, exchange rates, etc. change.  But a complete rebuild of the cache object also has to be performed for InfoProviders that are not suitable for the delta process when there are changes. InfoProviders are delta process enabled when a time stamp, sequential number, or, as with InfoCubes, the request shows which entries have been added.
    <b>Dependencies</b>
If the query is defined on a MultiProvider, you can still optimize the query runtime when you set the partitioning type accordingly.
Compression is still recommended and you cannot escape doing it ,based on the accuracy and reconciliation of your data for the period you should set up your compression strategy as once the data is compressed you cant delete (requests)it.
PS- However, you can delete compressed data using option SELECTIVE DELETE.
The typical measure taken in such situations, is to build aggregates on these cubes (instead of compression). This will not help, but only postpone the disaster to a later point in time. And at some point compression is not possible in a reasonable amount of time anymore, because deleting a partition takes so long that the whole workflow on that cube (and others later up the chain) is not fitting into the allocated timeframes.
    Hope it Helps

  • "Delta Cache Refresh" option not working in SAP XI 3.0

    Hello All,
We are using an SAP XI 3.0 system with SP9 installed on the same. The system is pretty much stable with all the components including SLD running fine. But!, when I run the Transaction "SXI_CACHE", the "Start Delta Cache Refresh" Button appears as Nullified and hinders the option for refreshing the cache. Could anyone guide me through this and make it work as we need to essentially do this step for the scenario we 're working on.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Venkat.

    Venkat,
Could you please check the status of you last cache refresh. There should be a traffic light displaying on the right part of the screen. If the last update was unsuccesful. Delta refresh isn't possible.
    Best regards,

    Hi Christos,
have you checked the connection strings within the identity Center?
It's just a guess, but it seems that the password of the mxmc_oper-user is missing.

    Hi,
By default, write caching is disabled on a disk that contains the Active Directory database (Ntds.dit). Also, write caching is disabled on a disk that contains the Active Directory log files. By doing this, you enhance the reliability of the Active
    Directory files.
Thus if it is a DC, try to move the Active Directory database and the Active Directory log files off of a disk in which you need to enable write caching.

  • To enable delta in generic data source

    Hi,
There is a generic datasource created on top of PRPS & RPSCO tables. Currently the extraction mode is 'full update'.
There is no time stamp field available in RPSCO, Please suggest how can I enable delta?

    Hi
Make sure at least you have Numeric pointer or time stamp field in your table to make the data source enable.
If you created view on these two tables, then in RSA6 --> open the data source --> goto edit mode.
here you will delta enable check box --> select this check and you can give the field which has to be used for delta.
If you using FM, then you have to write to code in functional module.

  • Enabling BIOS caching.

Sorry for the noob question, but I was curious about enabling the BIOS cache feature. Is there a noticable performance gain? Is it okay to do from a security standpoint?
I have my BIOS backed up on a floppy as I learned the hard way a long time ago, but maybe that's what makes me nervous about enabling the cache feature. So, who uses this and have you had any problems with it?? I would like to try it, but want to check the knowledge pool here before I do something I would regret.

I would kindly like to disagree,
The only thing about that is, sure if you can cache your system BIOS to memory it should be faster.  But XP/2000 Don't rely on the system BIOS like old legacy OS's (Win3.1, 9x, OS/2) do and in fact rarely at all ever make a call to it.  So while you may see a tiny AND I MEAN TINY shred of performance, overall you are slowing your machine because you're wasting memory on something that's hardly ever used.
The similar situation with VIDEO BIOS Cacheable.  While this sounds like a great idea for improving total system performance, video memory is fast enough that it usually outperforms system memory.  In addition as far as I'm aware (please correct me if I'm wrong) XP/2K GARTs handle video on their own independant of the actual video BIOS, as such the memory bandwidth would be better spent elsewhere than caching the Video BIOS.

Is you adapter engine...centalized or decentralized   and is it a new installation or was it working before....
If its centralized check the communication channels...If its decentralized you need to select the appropriate name in the drop down list for adapter engine option else you need select it as Integration server.
Also check whether you specified the exact adapter engine  and XIAFUSER in exchange profile(Adapter framework node)...also check whether the users XIAFUSER and XIISUSER exists and are not locked......
    Hope this helps...

  • What is the pupose of the Enable Document Cache option?

    Hey All,
What is the Enable Document Cache option in the Reports Properties - General Settings? What are the benefits of this option? Documentation is lean on this one.
    Thanks,
    Ron

    >I miss information of optimal setting for the cache. What is the ideal size and what is that setting depended on? Memory size? Raw file size?
The default size is 1GB, but it can be set much higher. When the number of previews held in the cache reaches the limit of the cache size older previews get dropped. This is the reason given for making the cache large. However, the problem with this approach is that the ACR cache preview is in addition to to the Lr preview created for the Library module. So, a larger cache will mean that even more disk space is used storing duplicate previews. If you're using a slower computer and are in the habit of quickly scanning through large number of files in the Develop module then a larger cache "might" help, otherwise anywhere between one and five GB should be more than adequate.

    Hi,
while doing the DELTA CACHE REFRESH getting  the status red. There be a traffic light displaying RED on the right part of the screen.

I think you are talking about sxi_cache related refresh. If yes, then you may check the following:
    1. Service user PIISUSER is not locked.
    2. RFC Destination INTEGRATION_DIRECTORY_HMI is working properly.

  • Kernal message: Could not enable ARP cache poisoning detection.

Looking at system files in Console, for another issue, I came across this kernal message, which occurs at start-up: "*Could not enable ARP cache poisoning detection. Your computer will not be protected*."
It's an intel Mac Mini running Leopard ( 10.5.8 ). I have Norton Antivirus for Mac 11 installed (I know, I know), which has ARP cache poisoning turned on in its "vulnerability protection" prefs. I've gotten no warnings of attacks from Norton, just this Kernal message at start-up. I've seen this issue on a couple of other threads with no answer or solution (except advice to Google it... duh!), already archived and accepting no new posts... so no help there.
Is this ARP cache poisoning detection part of the OS, and if so, why is it not being enabled? Is there a way to enable it? Could the kernal message be telling me that the Norton protection is bugged and not working, or would it be OS related. The mini is a wired connection (ethernet), and there's one other laptop (macbook 10.4.11) using the modem/router ( Actiontec GT 701-wg) via wireless airport. I haven't seen this message on the laptop in console or system logs, but haven't looked hard.
Someone, please respond with a knowledgeable answer, for me and for others who've asked here and on other forums with no helpful public answers given.

Doing a "erase and install" of Leopard, thus dumping Norton AV 11, and then installing Snow Leopard... I haven't seen this Kernal message come up again, yet. I'll assume it was some buggy Norton related thing that cropped up after an OS update, but who knows. I'll leave the question open for a bit, in case anyone else has had this issue and found a reason or solution, and wants to share.

  • Enabling shared cache mode for SQLite connections?

SQLite supports shared cache connections which provides more granular write locks among multiple connections allowing for greater concurrency across connections within a single application.  http://www.sqlite.org/sharedcache.html
This could be very useful for applications that open multiple async connections to perform updates to different tables.
Is there any way that an AIR application can get access to the shared cache connections?
    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hi Ryan,
Iam trying to activate Delta Cache for some querys in RSRT.
We have many application servers,so, as you have advised i have choosen Mode 4.
And, ticked the check box delta cache.
Apart from that do i need to do any other settings?
Can you please aslo let me know what settings needs to be done for the below:

  • Measuring "performance" improvement when enabling blob caching

    Hi.
Is there a way to measure improvement/disimprovment when you enable blob caching in a Sharepoint 2013 farm for the user experience? Will it show when measuring page
    download time?
    Wish you a good day!
    Simon

I would use Fiddler2 which will provide you with an overall time. One of the largest improvements for blobcaching is that it tells the client to cache the data so blobs aren't re-requested.
