Enable Hyper-V in Windows 8.1 runing on HP Pavilion E014TX

Hi to all,
I can not enable Hyper-V on my laptop HP Pavilion E014TX. The OS is Win8.1 Pro. Every time I on from BIOS then save changes then it should be restart but it is not doing just Windows logo with revolving loading dots even i wait for full battery consumption.
Please Help and and answer in some detail format.

1. Have you updated the computer with the latest BIOS from HP?  If not, try that.  Go to HP, see if there are any BIOS updates and follow the directions there for upgrading your BIOS.
2. Get coreinfo, download here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/cc835722) and run "coreinfo.exe -v" from a command prompt.
Post your results here.
What you need to see from the results is this output:
HYPERVISOR      -       Hypervisor is present
VMX             *       Supports Intel hardware-assisted virtualization
EPT             *       Supports Intel extended page tables (SLAT)
If you don't get these results then your system is not compatible or is not configured correctly for virtualization.

  • Cannot enable hyper-v in windows 8.1(EFI from bootcamp)

    Hi Guys,
I wonder whether anybody has the same issue as me.
Use boot camp assistant to follow the instruction to install windows 8.1 and failed at last step said windows cannot write into boot configuration data something
Find one remediation solution to delete the partition created by boot camp and create it from disk utitlity. everything went smooth and get windows 8.1 installed(Bios), can even enable the hyper-v without any issue
Find another thread talking about EFI boot. So try it with the way(need use gdisk to do some patching and finally need recreate bcd record). windows 8.1 installed without any issue, not sure whether it is EFI boot. But I cannot enable hyper v anymore. after tick the option in windows features and it restart twice and nothing happen. The hyper-v option still remain in windows feature.
Anybody has the similar issue and provide your valuable advice? Thanks a lot.
BTW, the hardware is rMBP 15", i7 2.3GHZ, 16G RAM and 512G SSD

    Hi TeddyIsSam
Encountered the same problem on my 27" iMac Mid-2010 (CPU i5-2500s)
I tried for hours/days and could not enable Hyper-V.
If i enabled hyper-v, windows would boot to black screen and could not be repaired without disabling hyper-v.
Found the problem. installing bootcamp from USB with always use latest EFI boot and hyper-v doesnt like it - at least on my old iMac.
Installing windows with old bootcamp style - BIOS emulation (or whatever apple call it) works OK.
non-EFI (or old bootcamp) is when you get 1-2 second of cursor flash in the top left before windows boots.
Unfortunately, i had removed my super drive DVD from iMac... so i could only install bootcamp from USB and this requires EFI boot only.
To remedy this, i used this process which was very, very time consuming, costs $ for winclone and not for beginners
    http://huguesval.com/blog/2012/02/installing-windows-7-on-a-mac-without-superdri ve-with-virtualbox/
However, i can confirm i can now happily run hyper-v with Windows 8.1. great performance. It boots in old non-EFI mode which doesnt seem to have any downside? except the 1-2 cursor flash and i had to manually install latest graphics drivers from ATI as bootcamp drivers we buggy.
Hope this saves someone a lot of time!!!
im assuming later generation Macs happily run hyper-v with latest EFI.

Just bought a new laptop with Windows 8.1 64-bit, 6gb Ram, 1TB HDD so as to use as a test environment for SharePoint 2010. but I could not get to enable Hyper-V in the control panel. Since SharePoint does not run on Windows 8, which

  • Windows 8.1 Pro Crashes When Enabling Hyper-V

So I bought a new HP Envy Desktop specifically for Windows Phone Development and ironically I can't get Hyper-V running. The machine just hangs on startup and eventually Windows 8.1 Pro x64 just crashes after multiple attempts after enabling Hyper-V in Windows
Programs/Features.  It's a Intel i5 with 12GB of RAM and virtualization is enabled in the BIOS.  I've read through multiple threads over the last several days and tried the following:
    - Updating all local drivers and Windows updates
    - Disabling Bluetooth
    - Uninstalling Avira AV
    - Someone also suggested disabling USB 3.0 support but I don't see an option to do this in my BIOS.
I've wasted a lot of time on this and I would really appreciate any help.
    Thanks

    Hi ericvanburen,
I found similar issue with HP Envy Desktop in HP forum , it might be due to blue tooth driver .
And I quoted the genneral solution here :
    1. Enter into BIOS setup and set Virtualization as disabled and reboot system.
    2. After booting windows 8, enter into Control panel and remove bluetooth driver.
    3. Download and install Ralink Bluetooth driver version 9.2.101.10 (SP59632)
    4. Reboot system and enable Virtualization Technology again.

  • Hyper-v on windows server 2012r2 essentials!

    hi,
I read just this blog about virtualisation
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn293253.aspx  now my question is :
1-is this blog is about running essentaials on other OS for example server standaard or it is runnung Essentials on essential server as virtual server? enjoying of Essentials 2012r2 twice one as a host server ,other as virtual server?
I am going to test this essential tomorrow and try to make my own virtual server to see what it is all about.
so Do I have to follow all this complicated instruction on the blog above ?
I have once enabled hyper -V on windows 8 and installed windows 7 on it .it was not so complicated.  I have also used virtualistion software of oracle and installed windows 8 on it very simply .
I don't understand why on server things got to be done  in some complicated  way?
    thanks

    Hi:
Sometimes Microsoft "moves in mysterious ways" to paraphrase an old expression. I have not read all of the article you linked to, but I think the operative part of the opening is:
"After OEM has done the appropriate configuration, which will be described in detail in the later sections, the end user can choose to deploy Windows Server Essentials as a virtualized instance, or perform a physical deployment."
OEM means a large "tier one"  company that manufactures hardware and has a special relationship with MS.  Not a system builder or an end user.  If you choose to follow the steps in that document I suspect you will be supporting yourself.
What is supported by MS is to install regular server (standard or enterprise/data center) in hyperV mode and install essentials as a guest VM, as well as another VM.

  • S7-392 issue with Hyper-V and Windows 10

Hi, I upgraded my S7-392 to Windows 10, and as soon as I enable Hyper-V in Windows 10 and reboot, the screen gets stuck at the boot logo. The progress ring is spinning and nothing happens after that. I can login in safe mode and disable the Hyper-V, and the system boots normally. I tried this many times. Everytime I enable Hyper-V, I am unable to boot into windows again (until I disable Hyper-V). I also performed a clean install of Windows 10 pro on my S7-392, and the same problem persists. Any solution to this. This is really urgent and important. This is my primary development machine, and I need to run Windows Phone Emulators in Visual Studio. Thanks and appreciate quick help. Naweed

found this:http://mou.me.uk/2012/08/27/windows-wont-boot-after-activating-hyper-v-in-windows-8/ yes it's for windows 8 but...can be a good suggestion, so if you didn't already installed updated Intel chipset drivers, give it a try:http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/Chipset/Chipset_Intel_10.1.1.8_W10x64_A.zip?acerid=635730682896833407&Step1=ULTRA-THIN&Step2=ASPIRE&Step3=ASPIRE%20S7-392&OS=10M1&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_6

Mty friend Dell Laptop does not facing this problem with same configuration which I have. Then why me are facing this problem?

I tried on Windows 8 Pro but again same problem.
So many things I tried updating Windows, Updating drivers but failed.

    Hello @Vikas_Kumawat80,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand that you are looking to enable Virtualization on your notebook computer, and I would be happy to be of assistance!
While I do not have any experience with Virtualization, I do recommend taking a look at this resource on How to Enable and Use Client Hyper-V, as well as Run virtual machines on Windows 8.1 with Client Hyper‑V. I am not certain if this processor has hardware virtualization support, it appears that Windows 8.1 pro and enterprise may have built in capabilities.
If you require further assistance on this, you might have to contact Microsoft on the topic.
    I hope this helps!

  • Freeze during boot after enabling Hyper-V feature in Windows 8

    Good day.
I'm using AMD FX 8320 with 990FXA-GD65. After enabling hyper-v my pc freezing during boot.  Google told me that it might be issue with USB 3.0 controller, so i disabled it in bios, but result still the same.
Can you please tell me where should i look at?

    Hi,
Please try to boot into WinRE and run the Startup Repair option.
Generally speaking, when you add feature like Hyper-V, system would take a long time to get this feature configured. if your computer still stay updates configuration steps, you can use Windows 8.1 installation image to repair system. In system repair mode,
you can access into Command Prompt mode, and check CBS.log under C:\Windows\logs\CBS.
This log file would record Windows installation process, we may find the problem of Hyper-V installation.

How do I get into the BIOS on my HP Envy running Windows 8.1 to enable Hyper-V
    This question was solved.

    Rob, welcome to the forum.
During boot you should continually tap the Esc key to enter the BIOS.  I am not certain that you will find Hyper-V as an option in the BIOS.  Most of HP's BIOS'es are kept very simple with only the necessary settings.

    Can somebody help me ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Multiple attempts to update the BT drivers from HP website and Mediatek website failed to solve the issue.
Disabling and uninstalling the BT driver from Device Manager also does not solve the issue.
Removing the device from the Registry solved the issue as I did not need BT.
The BT device is : PCI\VEN_1814&DEV_3298.
Search for this device in the registry (regedit.exe) and delete it.
If you need BT along with Hyper-v on HP Laptops, you are out of luck as the issue is not resolved yet.

  • Hyper V in Windows 8.1 Enterprise does not work.

    Hi All,
I am using Windows 8.1 Enterprise edition (Product is activated). I installed the Hyper V feature and when i open the Hyper V manager i don't see my system there. When i click on connect to server and click Local computer i get a cross mark my computer name.
    With the below screen shot.
I checked and Virtualisation feature was enabled in my bios. Also added my account to the Hyper V Administrator Local security group. When i went to the services.msc and when i try to start the services(All hyper V) it does not start. I get the below errors.
Below is the screenshot of the Error.
I installed a Windows server 2012 R2 in the same desktop and in that O/S Hyper V works Fine. I have issues only with the Windows 8.1 Edition.
    Can anyone please help.
    Gautam.75801

    Hi,
The log files would be expected to be under applications and services logs/Microsoft/Windows
if Hyper-V has been turned on.
Besides, there is another way to fix corrupt files in Windows 8.1. Take a try with the DISM command tool:
Fixing component store corruption in Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012
Please type the command below in CMD:
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Then please re-enable Hyper-V feature and then check if issue could be fixed.

When I restart after enabling the feature, I get "Could not complete the updates" and everything rolls back.
I've tried to search for a solution, I've done the DISM /RestoreHealth, to no avail.  What could be causing this?

After making the BIOS changes the box needs to be cold booted.
Some BIOS options will not become available without a cold boot.  And with laptops this can equal pulling the battery.
Also, don't miss updating the BIOS.
And last, ensure that the flavor of the chipset that you have really does support the feature.  As there are cases where the motherboard supports it, or the BIOS allows enabling it, but the chipset does not actually have it.

How to install hyper-v on windows 8 ?
I want to install virtual PC but after some research I came to know that windows 8 no longer support virtual pc and it has been replaced by something called hyper-v.
    I just bought a Windows 8 laptop.
I tried looking into windows on / off features (in control panel) and there is NO hyper-V.
I know why I don't have hyper-V because after doing some research it seems like it is only available on windows 8 PRO.
    Here is comparison chart:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_8_editions#Comparison_chart
I have Widows 8 on my laptop (NOT Windows PRO).
Now in this situation, how to install hyper-v on my laptop ?
Also, will I be able to run windows 7 virtually on my windows 8 laptop using hyper-v just like virtual pc ? like switching in windows between OS ? If I cannot do this and hyper-v does not work like virtual PC then I don;t think hyper-v will be useful to
me at all and i don't wanna figure it out if it is not useful in any way ?

    Hi jeffcarter,
To enable the Windows 8 Client Hyper-V feature, our computer needs to meet the following requirements:
    1. Hardware supports Second Level Address Translation (SLAT)
    2. 64-bit Windows 8 Pro or Enterprise.
    3. 4 GB or above of RAM.
Therefore, it seems that your computer cannot install Hyper-V. Also, Windows Virtual PC cannot be run on Windows 8. Thanks for your understanding.
In addition, regarding how to configure your BIOS to enable Intel VT-X, you can refer to your motherboard’s operating manual or query the vendor support for help.
