Enable Network Discovery GPO not taking effect
Hi
I've created a GPO to turn on Network Discovery on our company laptops as our AV server isn't able to discovery a number of clients for an update roll out. I've enabled the both "Turn on Mapper I/O (LLTDIO) driver" and "Turn on Responder (RSPNDR)
driver" in Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Network > Link-Layer Topology Discovery. I've set it to only apply to the Domain network. I then applied the policy to the OU containing the laptops and scoped it to
the default Authenticated Users group.
Group Policy Modeling shows that the policy is applying. However, Network Discovery is still turned off on laptops that should be applying it.
David
Hi David,
Please try the following steps to solve this issue:
You must also enable the LLTD Responder component on any computers that you want to appear on your Network Map.
Please add the following policy to this GPO:
Expand "Computer Configuration", "Windows Settings", "Security Settings", "Windows Firewall with Advanced Security", and then "Windows Firewall with Advanced Security - {policy you have open}".
Right-click on "Inbound Rules", and then click "New Rule".
In the Rule Wizard, on the Rule Type page, select "Predefined", and then select Network Discovery from the list.
Click Next.
On the Predefined Rules page, ensure that the check box is on each rule that is part of the Network Discovery group, and then click Next.
On the Action page, select "Allow the Connection", and then click Finish.

Lany Zhang

2008 R2 GPO - Turn network discovery on not working
Hi
I'm migrating several computers into a new domain with ADMT but all computer migrated (XP,7 and 8) could not enable network discovery.
I've made a GPO (found on technet) that should work but users still are unable to browse network. Gpo is applied (checked with rsop) and sincerly i've no ideas on what to check to understand why the GPO is not working. Any idea on something to check or change?
I copy the gpo here to check it.. thanks in advance

No settings defined.Hi,
To enable Network Discovery, we need to make sure that the following dependency services are started on clients:
DNS Client
Function Discovery Resource Publication
SSDP Discovery
UPnP Device Host
Regarding this point, the following article can be referred to for more information.
You cannot turn on Network Discovery in Network and Sharing Center in Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, or Windows Server 2012
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2722035
We can use group policy to control these services.
Regarding this point, the following article can be referred to for more information.

Group Policy - User Rights Assignments not taking effect on workstation`
Novell 5.1 SP7. ZenWorks 3.2 sp3. Windows XP Pro workstations.
In Group Policy, (Computer Configuration/Windows Settings/Security
Settings/Local Policies/User Rights Assignment), I have added Power Users to
the "Load and Unload device drivers" policy. However this setting is not
taking effect on my Windows XP workstations. My DLU policy for users is
configured to have the users members of the "Users" and "Power Users" groups
on the local PC.
Other parts of Group Policy (Computer Policy/Administrative Templates) are
taking effect on the workstation, so I'm wondering if the problem I am
having is related to Security Settings only.
I enabled Group Policy logging on the Windows XP workstation and include it
below:

Enabling network discovery on Windows Server 2012 R2
Good afternoon.
As per the title, I have set-up a new server at work. The server is running no problem but none of the other computers connected to the network can 'see' the new server. I've gone into the control panel and tried to turn on the network discovery, but it just
defaults back to 'off'.
I did so a search on here first before troubling anyone and I did find this answer :
Thanks for the post.
I did some research and found this issue may occur if the dependency services are disabled. Please make sure the following services are enabled and running.
- SSDP Discovery
- UPnP Device Host
Disabling Network Discovery/Network Resources"
That may well be the answer, but unfortunately that means absolutely nothing to me.
Is someone able to help me try and switch this on, but by offering an explanation an 'idiot' would understand.
Thanks in advance.Hi,
This issue occurs for one of the following reasons:
•The dependency services for Network Discovery are not running.
•The Windows firewall or other firewalls do not allow Network Discovery.
To resolve the issue, follow these steps:
1.Make sure that the following dependency services are started:
DNS Client
Function Discovery Resource Publication
SSDP Discovery
UPnP Device Host
2.Configure the Windows firewall to allow Network Discovery. To do this, follow these steps:
Open Control Panel, click System and Security, and then click Windows Firewall.
In the left pane, click Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall if you are running Windows Server 2012. Or, click Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall if you are running Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2.
Click Change settings. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Select Network discovery, and then click OK.
3.Configure other firewalls in the network to allow Network Discovery.
4.Turn on Network Discovery in Network and Sharing Center

Classic Report - Column Conditions Not taking Effect when Changing Pagination
Apex Version: 4.2.1.00.08
DB Version: 11g Release 11.2.0.3.0
Hi,
I have a classic report that has some columns that conditional hide/show depending upon the value of a page item. When the report is first displayed with the first pagination set(Rows 1-100), the columns display as they should.
When moving to the next pagination set(Rows 101-200), the columns no longer display as they should and it seems that the condition is not taking effect. Partial Page Refresh is set to 'Yes' for the report.
Any ideas on why this might be occurring?tvanderl
Assuming you mean that columns are rendered while you expect them not to.
Are the conditions based on page items.
It could be that the session state of those items is different between when the page is first rendered and when de refresh due to the pagination is done.
See if adding the in the condition used page items to the page items to be submitted for the region helps.
Others wise see if you can replicate the issue on apex.oracle.com so we can see what you mean.

Changes to php.ini not taking effect
I'm running Leopard 10.5.8 with the Apple-supplied versions of PHP (5.2.10) and Apache (2.2.11). Changes made to the /etc/php.ini file are not taking effect after stop/start of Apache. phpinfo() and shell command php -i confirm the 'status quo'. The php.ini file permissions are 444 with root/wheel ownership. It was copied from the php.ini.default file that came with the php distribution. Here's what I'm trying to change - seems pretty like this should be pretty basic stuff:
include_path = ".:/usr/local/some_directory"
// Original entry in the php.ini.default file was commented out
// The directory '/usr/local/some_directory' exists
// phpinfo() only shows include_path = .:
magicquotesgpc = Off
// Original entry in the php.ini.default value was 'On'
// phpinfo() shows magicquotesgpc = Off
I've been all over the php.net website and cannot identify my error. Shouldn't the changes to the php.ini file should be interpreted immediately after restarting Apache?
Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Suggestions for fixing this malfunction would be greatly appreciated. I know I can hard code workarounds into my PHP code but that really defeats the whole purpose of even having a php.ini file....Was able to successfully implement these changes on a different Mac OSX 10.5.8 system. Different architecture (1st system is MBP, 2nd system is MB) although each system has all software updates installed and is up-to-date. Copied php.ini file from MB to MBP and problematic settings were corrected. Ran /developer/applications/utilities/filemerge.app to check for differences between the two php.ini files. Found one (line 305):
Failing entry: error_reporting = E_ALL
Working entry: error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE
I took out E_NOTICE to help with debugging as per instructions from php.net/manual/en/errorfunc.configuration.php
Go figure.... -
Changes is special conversion routine not taking effect
I changed a special conversion routine specified in a conversion rule(BD79) with a rule type copy sender field.
I made the required changes to the function module CONVERSION_EXIT_&_OUTPUT and activated it but still the outbound Idoc suggests that the changes are not taking effect.
Can someone suggest what may be the reason for this?The issue got resolved

BO Custom class not taking effect
Hi Experts,
Created a customer module for BO part,
Extended WrapperCrmWecRegisterBase and WrapperCrmWecRegisterConsumer with
CustomWrapperCrmWecRegisterBaseImpl, CustomWrapperCrmWecRegisterConsumerImpl respectively.
Created factory-config.xml in BO part and added the information:
<factory xmlns:xi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XInclude" xmlns:wec="com.sap.wec.core.config">
<factoryClass
name="com.sap.wec.app.common.module.user.backend.impl.crm.rfc.WrapperCrmWecRegisterBase"
singleton="false"
className="com.customer.wec.app.common.module.user.backend.impl.crm.rfc.CustomWrapperCrmWecRegisterBaseImpl" />
<factoryClass
name="com.sap.wec.app.common.module.user.backend.impl.crm.rfc.WrapperCrmWecRegisterConsumer"
singleton="false"
className="com.customer.wec.app.common.module.user.backend.impl.crm.rfc.CustomWrapperCrmWecRegisterConsumerImpl" />
</factory>
I have added factory-config.xml in MD's metadata.xml
<config-file namespace="customer" part="bo" type="factory-config">factory-config.xml</config-file>
I have changed below code in the implementation to send langauge[iuser_language] to backend. But the hardcoded value is not shown in the backend debug mode of RFC: CRM_WEC_REGISTER_CONSUMER.
JCoStructure userLanguage = importParams.getStructure("IUSER_LANGUAGE");
userLanguage.setValue("LANGU","FR");
Either ls_centraldata-partnerlanguage is still showing "E" and not showing "FR" or "F".
I also have added the public-parts for customer and sap folders.
Do I need to modify businessobject-config.xml or backendobject-config.xml files or any other?Thank you Elena, I have modified as you suggested.
CustomUserCRMImpl declared in factory-config.xml
Imported CustomWrapperCrmWecRegisterConsumerImpl and modified accordingly.
<factory xmlns:xi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XInclude" xmlns:wec="com.sap.wec.core.config">
<factoryClass
name="com.sap.wec.app.common.module.user.backend.impl.crm.UserCRM"
singleton="false"
className="com.customer.wec.app.common.module.user.backend.impl.crm.CustomUserCRMImpl" />
</factory>
CustomUserCRMImpl.java looks like:
if (partner.isNotOnDB()) {
functionReturnValue = CustomWrapperCrmWecRegisterConsumerImpl.execute(jcoCon, user,
user.getUserConfigurationBO(), password, appl_url, getLoginType(),
props.getProperty(EMAILTEMPLATE), props.getProperty(NOOFDAYS),
But still its not taking effect.
Do I need to declare the CustomUserCRMImpl in backendobject-config.xml too? -
Customizing CO class on site level is not taking effect
Hello,
I extended a CO class and changed the region "Controller Class" on Site level from "Inherit" to my newly created class
But the personalization is not taking effect when i run the page; any idea why?
thanksAsh,
begin
jdr_utils.listcustomizations('your page path like /oracle/apps/pon/award/completion/webui/ponCompleteAward2PG');
end;
will give the personalization availble for your page, then get the details using,

jdr_utils.printDocument('output of the above query');
end;
Make sure the above script is giving your controller in place and see what level your contoller is attached.

Moderator message: too vague, help not possible, please describe problems in all technical detail if posting again.
Edited by: Thomas Zloch on Feb 23, 2011 3:02 PMYes, Actually after looking into the problem some more it looks like the
changes are taking effect. The only problem that we are having is that
the start bar does not appear when the user log in and no drives are
showing up under windows explorer. I checked the policy and we did not
configure the section under windows explorer so i am not sure why the
drives are not showing. Also I am not sure why the start bar does not
appear.

11g Catalog Permissions not taking effect
I am having an issue with the selected permissions not taking effect as they should. The major issue with this is that users that have been assigned to application roles that are assigned the 'Open' permission type are able to delete that same folder. Basically users that are only supposed to view objects in a folder now have access to delete that entire folder, despite inheriting application roles that have been set to only open that folder. This is only occurring at the Shared Folders level of the catalog, so as you can tell this could be a major issue if a user was to accidentally delete the entire shared folder structure. Further down in the catalog tree the permissions are acting properly. We have a folder with all of our GL reports that is secured in the same fashion, and the permissions work as intended there.
Is it possible that there is some kind of root level permission that is overriding what we have set up at the Shared Folders' permission level?How are you packaging the files? If you use a .zip archive, the copies created when they unzip the archive should have the correct permissions.
And by the way, repairing permissions won't do anything with items in a user account. -
Not in not taking effect - extracting from xmltype
select distinct type,TO_CHAR(t1.add_dt,'DD-MON-YY') add_date ,
TO_CHAR(l2.e_dt,'DD-MON-YY') e_date,name, d.d_nm
from table1 t1 , table3 d,table2 t2 ,
select distinct
f.xmlcol.extract('//fDef/ns1:vD/ns1:vDesc/ns1:dName/text()','xmlns:ns1="http://abc.def.org/"').getStringVal() info
from ftable f
) f_d,
select distinct
b.xmlcol.extract('//benchmarkRuleDef/ns1:dName/text()','xmlns:ns1="http://abc.def.org/"').getStringVal() info
from btable b
) b_d
where
t2.id = t1.id
and to_char(t1.id) =(d.xmlcol.extract('//c/R/val/text()').getStringVal())
and d.d_nm NOT In (f_d.info)
and d.d_nm NOT In (b_d.info)
However, the last 2 lines are not taking effect. Example, I get 30 as info from query f_d. But in the end I have the condition and d.d_nm NOT In (f_d.info)
- it still shows the record. Not In is not taking effect. Not sure what am i doing wrong here. Any help appreciated.Yes.
If the query in that form doesn't return any rows then start disassembling the SQL to see where rows are being dropped/filtered at. Is q1 and q2 returning what you think? How's that compare to d.d_nm? Is the outer select/from finding the rows you want found? Is your d.xmlcol.extract('//c/R/val/text()').getStringVal()) returning what you think it should (put it as a column in the SELECT statement)?
Without knowing more about your tables and data, that's the best I can offer. Start simplifying your SQL to see where if filters out the data you expect to see. -
Why can't I enable network discovery in Server 2008 R2
Every time I go into "Advanced sharing settings", select "Turn on Network Discovery", then click "Save settings", when I then go back to Advanced sharing settings "Turn off Network Discovery" has been re-selected.
I can understand this being true for Public networks, but not for home/work networks. This could be the reason that I can't connect to my server with Windows Explorer, from my Win 7 mobile workstation, and vice versa.
What could be causing this???Hi,
This issue occurs for one of the following reasons:
•The dependency services for Network Discovery are not running.
•The Windows firewall or other firewalls do not allow Network Discovery.
To resolve the issue, follow these steps:
1.Make sure that the following dependency services are started:
DNS Client
Function Discovery Resource Publication
SSDP Discovery
UPnP Device Host
2.Configure the Windows firewall to allow Network Discovery. To do this, follow these steps:
Open Control Panel, click System and Security, and then click Windows Firewall.
In the left pane, click Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall.
Click Change settings. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Select Network discovery, and then click OK.
3.Configure other firewalls in the network to allow Network Discovery.
4.Turn on Network Discovery in Network and Sharing Center

How to disable Windows from prompting to enable Network Discovery
After deploying a new Windows 2012R2 VM, running sysprep, we then run powershell script to automatically configure a server how we want it.
One of these steps is to disable the Windows firewall in all profiles with this powershell line:
Set-NetFirewallProfile -name * -Enabled "false"
However, when I first login to the server, it prompt me to turn on/off network discovery:
"Do you want to find PCs, devices, and content on this network, and automatically connect to devices like printers and TVs?"
If I select "No", it enables the Windows Firewall on the public profile.
How do I prevent the server from prompting for this information?
I was thinking off disabling Network Discovery in the powershell script to turn it 'off' but not sure how to do this.
ThanksHi,
Did you try the command:
Disable-NetFirewallRule –DisplayName "Network Discovery"

Here you go..
1. In the Group Policy editor on a Win7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 computer, open the GPO that you want to use in the Group Policy Editor.
2. Expand "Computer Configuration", "Windows Settings", "Security Settings", "Windows Firewall with Advanced Security", and then "Windows Firewall with Advanced Security - {policy you have open}".
3 Right-click "Inbound Rules", and then click "New Rule".
