Enable Olympus Lens Corrections ?

Many lens manufacturers brands are available to choose from when processing a raw file in ACR but to my dismay sofar no Olympus lenses have been profiled?
When is this feature " Lens Corrections" - enable lens correction -  enabling the higher end Olympus lenses to show and use their profiles?
Or, what is the reason for omitting them?
Regards
Robert

Or, what is the reason for omitting them?
Maybe some camera- and lens-producers are not especially supportive of the task (actually I don’t know about the lens correction features, but with regard to RAW-formats I’ve read some stuff that makes this seem not altogether impossible) and Adobe has a lot of lenses to work through?
Not being a professional photographer myself I have not looked into it, but aren’t you supposed to be able to create custom settings for your lenses yourself?
Maybe you might also post here

  • Lr, Photomerge and Lens Corrections

I use to apply an import preset to all my photos that just enables the lens corrections. That's my doubt: when I make a pano with Photomerge in CS5 (so I select photos, right click, Edit In, Merge to Panorama in Photoshop..) I have to select or not the "Vignette removal" and "Geometric Distortion Correction" features? Photomerge takes count on the adjustments made in Lr? I've the doubt because in the source files list are elencated .CR2 files, not TIFF/PSD..
    I made some tries:
    1. Lens corrections in Lr/Lens corrections in Photomerge
    2. Lens corrections in Lr
    3. Lens corrections in Photomerge
Try 1 is a little bit stretched compared to tries 2 and 3.
Tries 2 and 3 aren't totally identical. They not match 100% even if are almost equivalent.
What do you do guys when it comes to panos and lens corrections? Thanks

I think I'll make all the adjustments in Lightroom, lens correction too and leave the two options in Photomerge blank. I don't know why there are little differences between the lens corrections in Photomerge and Lightroom, I thought it's the same module, but that's it..

  • Olympus E-P1 Support / Lens Corrections?

Hey there, I recently picked up an Olympus E-P1 with the 14-42mm lens.  I updated to ACR 5.5, so now Lightroom and Bridge can open the RAW files (ORF format).  The Adobe DNG converter also works on those files.
However, none of these result in correcting barrel distortion, which is noticeable with the 14mm shots.  I also don't see an option to manually control any lens distortions in LR or ACR.  Photoshop CS4 has a lens correction filter, but it doesn't work as well as the Olympus Master software (their software for working with RAW files).
Any thoughts on this?  Should LR / ACR automatically fix the barrel distortions, or am I missing a setting?

Most of the shots are done JPEG + RAW, and the JPEG and RAW files are identical.  I can post a set if you want.
It's a little odd, because I was under the impression that the camera's JPEG engine is supposed to do this type of lens correction.  I asked Olympus about this but haven't heard yet.  As you can probably tell though, the EXIF data is intact.

  • LightRoom Lens Correction ... huge list (of some of which I have never heard!), but still no mention of Zuiko (Olympus) lenses in the drop-down, even in my 4th update: version 5.6. Anyone know why Olympus has been ostracised in this application?

I am now using a new Nikon, but I still have thousands of images captured with my (very good) Olympus E500, but still frustrated that its lenses do not appear in the drop-down list in the lens correction module ... not even in the latest update, version 5.6

What camera?  Is it a mirrorless?  Most of those have lens profiles that are built-in and always on so there’s nothing in the list.

  • Do I need to use lens correction in lightroom 5 if I have it enabled in camera ?

Do I need to use lens correction in Lightroom 5 develop module it I have it enabled in camera ? (Canon 5D3)

Thanks very much John, I noticed when I applied it in LR5 it made a difference, but I guess what I was asking was it being applied twice, and as I shoot in raw you have answered my question, thank you so much.

Your camera will only apply lens correction (if switched on) to JPEGs, not to RAW files. Clearly you do not want to apply it twice.

  • Lightroom 5.7.1 Lens Corrections chooses wrong lens info from EXIF when I 'Enable Profile Corrections'. Windows 7

When I enable lens corrections on a jpg image it brings up the wrong lens info. If I try to change it there are only 2 lenses listed—neither one is correct. It lists a 50mm lens even though in the Histogram just above it says 18mm. I then tried the original DNG image & it chooses the correct lens automatically. Both the jpg & DNG image EXIF info show an 18mm lens, which is correct, but Lr doesn't read the jpg info correctly. The problem is the same on all the images I've tried so far.

Most Adobe-supplied lens profiles are for raw files only.  Since there are very few JPG lens profiles LR is probably just choosing the closest one it has which isn’t anywhere close to the right lens.
The reason raw and jpgs have separate lens profiles is because cameras apply lens corrections when they produce JPGs and it would be inappropriate for LR to apply a lens profile when the camera already has, so LR refrains.  If you are sure that your camera has not applied any corrections then you can hack a raw lens profile into a jpg lens profile by text-editing a copy of the .lcp file that comes with LR, and changing the raw designation from true to false inside the file for each profile segment, then move this edited copy to the users profile area.  You might also find the JPG version of the profile using the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader available via a search at adobe.com.

  • Why all the micro4/3 (Panasonic and Olympus) lenses are missing in Lightroom lens corrections?

Is there a reason why all the micro4/3 lenses (panasonic, Leica and Olympus) are missing as lens corrections in all Lightroom versions?

    They are not missing.
Within the last year or two many cameras do their own lens corrections before writing the JPG or even displaying the image on the back of the camera or in the electronic view finder, so Adobe does the same thing:  the lens profiles are built into the camera raw engine and always applied.  It’s confusing because cameras didn’t used to do this and Adobe didn’t used to do this, so we have the situation of older cameras having lens profiles you had to select from the dropdown lists, while newer cameras don’t require this.  Of course removable-lens cameras still have this situation, but many/most recent P&S cameras have built-in lens corrections.
The Camera Raw plug-in for Photoshop actually indicates when a built-in profile is being used, but LR does not, yet.

  • Enable Profile (ACR) and Filter Lens Corrections does not recognize Lens

I did several searches and couldn't find this so it may be a new question. I'm running into it in both CS5 (Camera Raw and Filter > Lens Corrections) and Lightroom 3.3 (Develop- Enable Profile). I'm asking here since I figure if I can fix CS5, I'll know what to do in Lightroom.
I have a Canon 1D MK IV. ACR recognizes the camera and processes the raw file. I check updates and everything is current. With Enable Profile checked, some lenses like my 24-105 L are recognized but my 17-35 L seems to be a complete mystery to it. I'm assuming that this is due to a missing profile.
Am I correct in thinking that the process is, download, install and run the Adobe Profile downloader. If I do not find any hits for my lens, I am then in the spot of having to use the profile creator to build one (or go without).?
Are there any other sources for camera / lens profiles that can be imported into the enable profile process?
Once you have a new profile where do you store it?   under Users> Owner > AppData > Roaming > Adobe > Lens Correction ?
    Thanks
    Rick

Just to make sure:  Have specifically checked to ensure you have the latest Camera Raw update (6.3)?  I know you said you checked updates, but it never hurts to do a Help - About Plug-in... in Photoshop and double check.

  • Lens Corrections: Enable Profile Corrections missing from tab

The "Enable Profile Corrections" check box is missing from the Lens Corrections tab in Camera Raw (CS5). How do I get it back? I'm comfortable hacking my registry or any settings files.
I'd like to report this and see if there's a better solution than Ctrl-Shift-Alt on startup.
    Things I've checked:
The EXIF data for the lens is present and can be read Lightroom 3.
The "Enable Profile Corrections" check box is present in LR3 and functions.
After exporting a copy of the same photo to a folder the EXIF data is still visible in Bridge.
After opening the photo in Camera Raw the "Enable Profile Corrections" check box is missing.
I've used the option in Camera Raw for months, and had it included in my default CR settings.
    Screen shots of
    EXIF data displayed in Bridge
The Lens Corrections tab in Camera Raw (CS5).
The EXIF data for the same photo displayed in Lightroom 3
The Lens Corrctions tab in LR3
    Thanks,
    Ed

After installing 6.2 the check box is back, but this doesn't explain why it went away.
If I had already installed 6.2 and was seeing this symptom what would you have recommended?

  • Enable lens correction by default?

Is there a way to enable lens correction by default? I do not like having to check the box for each new picture I import.

You have to do 2 things:
    a) you have to set a certain lens as default for all photos taken with this lens. This is done in <Lens Correction / Profile> by selecting a lens profile for a selected photo and selecting <Default>. Default does not mean that this lens will be applied to all photos irrespective of the lens; it will be applied only to photos taken with this lens. You can set several Defaults, each one for a different lens, and Lr will then apply the correct lens profile to each photo according to the lens it was taken with.
    b) you then create a develop preset by checking <Enable Lens Profile> in <Lens Correction / Profile> and - if you so wish - by also checking  <Remove Chromatic Abberration. in <Lens Correction / Color>.
Then create a new profile with these settings, call it "Lens Profile & Chromatic Aberration".
If you then apply this develop preset on import each of your imported photos - even if taken with different lenses - will be applied the correction specific for the lens.

  • LR4 lens correction profiles for micro 4/3s lenses?

    Hi,
Recently bought into the m43s system because of the compact fast primes (Lumix G 20 1.7 and Olympus 24 1.8) and it looks like there are no "built-in" lens profiles for either in LR4 when I check "enable lens corrections".  I thought I read somewhere that the 20 1.7 requires correction as it has a significant amount of (barrel, iirc) distortion if not corrected, yet the RAW images look fine upon import -- is Lightroom doing something that does not require a profile?  Am I missing something else?
    Thanks!

they are build in. no need for lens profiles.
panasonic and olympus lenses for m43 provide lens correction data, raw files contain the parameters needed for raw conversion software, that´s part of the system design.
