Enable Provisioning Tab in Service Attribute in Master Item
Hi All,
In Item Master service tab, we have Enable Provisioning tab. What is impact of tab on Serviceable Item?. What will happen when I will enable tab, whether It will impact on Item Instance creation in Installed Base.
what is the logic you have put in to indentify cost center's supervisor?
is it based on any material group or value or storage location....?
irrespective of Requestor's ID if your validation says that PR should first go to supervisor and then to cost center's manager then why we are concentrating on requestor's ID.
but if ur business says, there must be Requestor ID in each and every PR, then as I mentioned earlier put check on EBAN -AFNAM
if EBAN -AFNAM is valid SAP R/3 user (SU01D), then no issue. if NOT then system should display an error message saying that " Requestor is not a valid one, please choose appropriate one
hope this will help you

How do I add SD (Sales&Distribution) tab to Service master? I have activated the SD Checkbox against the Service category/Org status in IMG. Still, the SD tab does not appear in the Service master
Request expert advise from you guys
ThanksHi,
Try ( SPRO-MM- ESM-Service Master)Selecting check box S-SD in during Define Organizational Status for Service Categories ( like S-BD + S- MM)
And Then define ur Service Category & assign Organizational Status for Service Categories to ur Service Category with acc. cat. reference.
& then number ranges..........
Now use AC03 and try ....

Adding new attribute to Master data - Not present in ECC
Hi,
We want to add a new field in the master data object 0plant. the new field is not present in the R/3 side. So we are planning to maintain it manually.
Is it feasible? Can someone explain how to approach the situation?
Since it is not going to come in Process chain or any of the mappings below InfoObject will the process chains work properly?
RegardsHi
if you cant impliment any logic you cam maintani it mannually.
First add attribute to master data object and activate.
Do master data load if required.
Then right click on materdata addtribute and manage -> content tab -> Content
display complete data and you can maintain attribute values individually for all ercords one by one (will be pain even for 100 records).
another alternative is of doing file upload for this attribute.

VMM 2012R2 UR4 - Version 3.2.7768.0
Not sure when this started happening since I haven't had to update or create a new RunAs account in VMM in some time, but every time I do, either through the console or through PowerShell it throws an error about The specified directory service attribute
or value does not exist. The VMM Service account is the same as it always has been, and other than this issue everything with VMM is working fine. The full text of the error message is below.
I am hoping someone has some ideas because I don't have any more at this point.

levalencia BlogHi,
The issue here is the mapping of the interface to the service in question, and usually points to a possible mistype or rename of something within your service architecture.
You need to make sure your namespace and service name here match your service name itself.
For detailed information, you could refer to:

Separate tab for equipment Attributes
Hi All,
Please I need some help here.
I have created some characteristics and assigned them to a class. I have now assigned the class to an equipment directly through the equipment master.
When I display the equipment, I need to click on Class Overview which then open to a new screen: Display Equipment: Classification
My requirement is to also have a tab (screen) call Attributes which should also have the characteristics and values. So on display of the equipment master, and by opening the tab 'Attributes' the screen should display these characteristics and values.
Any config required?
Regards.
KashHope you are looking to see Equipment Attributes in Equipment master as one of tabs same like Location, Organization, etc.,
Please do configuration as follows.
1. Set the View Profiles for Technical Object
2. In this Configuration, go for New Entries to add New View Profile or Select Existing Profile.
3. Add Additional View 1 / 2/ 3 & assign Classification 095 (Full Screen) view to that. Tick Tab Active selection mark.
Click New Entries to add new tab.
4. Click Icons and Texts in left side (marked in red color) & Define the name of that tab how it should be displayed in Equipment Master (in your case Attributes).
5. While Maintaining Equipment Category, view profile which has been created should be assigned. Below is IMG path.
6. Assign that Profile to your desired Equipment category as shown below.
7. Create Characteristics in CT04 & Class in CL02. Assign the Characteristics in Class.
8. Create / Change Equipment & Assign the Class.
Hope, this is the one you are looking for. -
Serial attribute and org attribute problems with item master
IF i want to unassign an item from an org, how would i do tht
The check is not updateable in the organization assignment tab
Secondly:
When i try to make an existing item serial controlled, i go to inventory tab on item master and when i change the serial control attribute GENERATION then "For some items it says APP-INV-05525: Either On Hand quantity or pending transactions exist for item, cannot change this value"
But for same item if i choose GENERATION sales order issue than it works fine.
Thirdly:
How would i Use generated serial numbers..how to assign them or use them for issuing and recievingRegarding the 1st part of your query: Unassigning item from an Org
You cannot unassign an item that way (by unchecking the Assigned checkbox).
You have 2 options:
1) Delete the item from the respective Org if it is not yet transacted in that org.
Navigation : Items-> Delete Items
Once selecetd this will open deletion Group screen, please enter a new group name and description and for type select Item from LOV and then in details Tab enter your item that you want to be taken out.
Save the transaction and then click on Delete group button at the bottom of the screen --> this will raise a concurrent request.
If it is already transacted in the respective org from where you want to delete it then system will not allow to delete the item for audit trail purpose.
2) You can make the item 'Inactive' to prevent transactions or ordering (purchasing/sales) you can uncheck the appropriate attributes on that item in the org (assuming your attributes controls allow it at org level rather than master level).
Regarding Serial number generation options a) At Receipt and b) At Sales Order Issue:
a) At Receipt >> Create and assign serial numbers when you receive the item. As you move the material within inventory and until you issue it out you have to use the serial number for those transactions.
b) At Sales Order Issue >> Create and assign serial numbers when you issue (ship) the item against a sales order. For this option serial numbers are required at ship confirm.
Now as per the definitions given above, if there on-hand already exists in your organization(s) then you cannot set the serial generation control "At Receipt". Because in that case all existing on-hands should have serial number assigned which is not the case. On-hand should be zero to set the control "At Receipt". Hence system will prevent you from setting it to "At Receipt" when on-hamd exists. Also in your post you mentioned that you tried to change the control in Item Master, that means serial control generation attribute is set at Master level for you. In this case it will consider on-hands for that item in all the child orgs.
On the other side if you are setting serial control generation "At Sales Order Issue" then seral number is not required for existing on-hands because it will be created and assigned during ship confirm. So system will not prevent even if on-hand exists.
Considering the options available in the system your third question (How would i Use generated serial numbers..how to assign them or use them for issuing and recieving) not very clear. The "generated serial numbers" part is creating little confusion in mind as to what you are actually looking for.
As explained above, if control is set "At Receipt" >> Create and assign serial numbers when you receive the item. Use the Lot/ Serial button on the right hand corner of the material transaction screen and enter the serial number.
If control is At Sales Order Issue >> Create and assign serial numbers when you issue (ship) the item against a sales order. In the Shipping Transaction screen use Tools >> Serial Numbers option before ship confirm and enter the serial number.
But if you have set the control as "Predefined" then, assign predefined serial numbers (by generating before hand) when you receive the item. Thereafter, for any material transaction, you must provide a serial number for each unit.
Hope this helps. -

Key Figure with Maximum Accuracy
If you choose this indicator, then the OLAP processor calculates internally with packed numbers that have 31 decimal places. In doing so, a greater accuracy is attained, and the rounding differences are reduced. Normally, the OLAP processor calculates with floating point numbers.

If you choose exclusively attribute, then the created key figure can only be used as an attribute for another characteristic, but cannot be used as a dedicated key figure in the InfoCube. -
Hi,
May i know what is the function of"Limit" tab under Item for a service
po?
1)What is the overall limit purpose.
2)There is a sub-tab call"Other limit" with "No limit" ticked.
What is the impact if i unticked the No limit?
Thank you.Hi,
Hi, Please refer to the Online documentation: Material Management -> External Services Management -> Procurement of Services: Processes -> Accelerated and Simplified Processes -> Use of Value Limits (for Unplanned Services) Inside this documentation, it is stated that there is a variety of limits (combinations) to be used:- - Overall limit only - Overall limit and limit on services covered by contract item(s) - Overall limit, limit on services covered by contract item(s), - and other limit - Overall limit and other limit - Overall limit on services from model specifications or standard service catalog - Expected value.
The expected value is used in the update of the PO item value and this is the value used in the release strategy. Here is the f1 help: Expected value - ESUH-COMMITMENT Value that the unplanned services (or the materials) covered by this item are not expected to exceed. Use If you are working with the release (approval) procedure for purchasing documents, this value serves as the basis for a release strategy applied to this document.
If you tick 'No limit',you don't need to enter 'Overall limit',but must enter 'Expected value'. Because 'Expected value' will affect the release strategy. Please read the note 440601 connected to this:
The expected value has to be mandatory in case only limits are
maintained in a purchasing document due to release strategie and commitment figures.
The expected value is added to the total value of planned services
of the purchasing document.
For example, a PO with ONLY unplanned services /materials
(only limits maintained), the expected value builds the net value.
In such a case Controlling derives the purchase commitment figure
only from this value.
Concerning the variability of actual cost of a purchase order,
expected value means that the unplanned services (or materials)
covered by this item are not EXPECTED to exceed.
It is not mandatory that it has the same value like total limit value.
Expected value can exceed, it is used for comparison with total limit
value in cost control.
Expected value can also be combined with unlimited total limit in a
purchasing document.

Vendor Determination to PR thru componant tab of service order
Hi All,
I have maintain the vendor in notification partner list and then it get copy to service order partner tab after service order creation.
Now when I create the Purchase req. from component tab, Vendor should get determined automatically from service order partner tab. Right now it gives me pop screen which includes list of all vendor for given material and plant.
My requirement is vendor determination in PR thru component tab should always get determined from service order partner tab.
Pl let me know if there is any note to be implemented.
Thanks,
ChetanHi,
You have to maintain source list in the transaction ME01 for this vendor as fixed vendor....

Difference between text data and attributes in master data?
Hello,
a charcteristic in BW maintains texts, hierarchies and attributes.
What exactly is the difference between texts and attributes?
Attributes describe master data like a customer. The country where the customer resides, the industry etc. describe and classify the customer. Attributes are not just the structure/metadata of the characteristics. They are also the content. The following table should visualize what i mean:
customer-no. | name
112 | mcpherson inc.
113 | donalds inc.
Texts contain contain the description of a characteristic. Texts define a characteristic. An example is the customers name. It does not describe the customer but defines him/her.
Is my understanding about these two parts of master data right?
What else except the customer's name belongs to the texts?
If I set up a characteristic like the customer in SAP BW, do I have to create an attribute "name". The name belongs to texts, not to attributes?? If I upload master data then, how does it work?
Thanks in advance.Hi,
If your analysis includes country and region then country and region should be included in the Infocube. This is required because only if you include these characteristics then you can restrict your queries for country and region. You may need to select some particular countires/region and show the report. Then you have to restrict your queries to only those countries/region.This is possible only if you have these characteristic in your infocube.
I am just envisaging your model like this.
Characteristic in the Infocube
Customer
Country
Region
Customer Attributes
Customer Number (SID which is self generated)
Customer Address1,2 ,3
Registration No
Date of Registration
Deposit Amount
etc ...
Region Attributes
Region Number (SID)
Total Customers
Sale Office Address
Number of Sales Persons
Customer Attributes
Customer Number (SID)
Total Customers
Head Office Address
Number of Sales Persons
GDP
Total Population
So the conclusion is whichever entity you want to restrict or analyse should be a part of Infocube. It is very difficult to do analysis based on attributes as I mentioned in my earlier post that they are only "Display attributes" (u can just show that's it).
Yes!! there are methods available for analysis based on characteristics in attributes table and you have to do either with virtual characteristic or replacement path or with writing code in customer exits. But a good design and earlier study of all possible report combination and having a good design will avoid good amount of development time and changes.
I have suffered when I had only 0CALDAY in my cube and when I want to take a monthly analysis, I was unable to do it and then I have to redesign my whole cube.
Please anyone, correct me if I am wrong.

Accessing Terminal Services Attributes from Active Directory LDAP property userParameters
After many years of complaints, Microsoft has done little to address the overwhelming outcry for information on the accessing the Terminal Services properties through LDAP.
I found this document that fully describes the Encode/Decode mechanism for the userParameters attribute.
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff635189.aspx
The property is used for more than terminal services, but even Microsoft is confused about it's use it would seem. I won't go into details, but for all those trying to access the terminal services attributes, this document should help.
I have not yet converted the mapping into a JAVA module, so please don't ask for help. I just need a more public place to put this, than the currently buried location at microsoft, to make for easier retrieval from the web community of java developers.Hi,
What about other changed attributes? Are other attributes retrieved by DirSync control turn to be encrypted form?
Best Regards,
Amy

Services tab in Service Purchase Order for Limit SC is not filled in
Hello All
As per the standard behaviour if a Free text SC is created for Services , the PO is created with one line item having description as " service item " and under the Services tab we can see the line items.
But when we create a SC from Limit for Services ( if we select Confirmation and Invoice ), The PO is created just like normal PO with item category as "D" and we do not see any line item in the Services tab in the PO.
Could you please let us know why this difference between Free text SC and for Limit SC.
Thanks in Advance.
Regards
Bharath ValleriHello Bharath,
What you describe is standard.
1- Limit SC
A limit item in SRM can give two kinds of R/3 PO items:
b- If you set "Invoice and confirmation" during Limit SC item creation, this means you will confirm your item, so R/3 PO item for service can only be created as category item "D",
Nevertheless, for your R3 PO item, you have populated an expected value (and you can fill in also an overall limit if check box "Unlimited" was not set at SC item creation).
That's why "Service" tab is empty. The "Limit" tab is populated in this case: confirmation will be done according to PO item expected value and not according to PO item quantity
a- If you set "Invoice only"during Limit SC item creation, this means confirmation is not allowed for you item, so R/3 PO item can only be created as item "B" (blanket). Blanket PO cannot be confirmed.
2- Free text SC
For a free text SC item with product type "Service", R/3 PO item will be a "D" category item.
"Service" tab is filled in with quantity and net price: confirmation will be done according PO item quantity.
So, main difference between Free text SC and Limit SC is quantity or expected value based confirmation.
Regards.

Accounting Rule query from the Pricing/Billing tab in Service Contracts
Running Oracle Apps. 11.5.10.2. I have the query listed below which returns both header and live level data for service contracts. I am trying to add the Accounting Rule from the Pricing/Billing tab within service contracts, but I am not having luck finding a suitable join. I have tried joining ra_customer_trx_lines_all to okc_k_lines_b using the following join from etrm rctla.contract_line_id(+) = oklb.cle_id, but it does not return any records for accounting_rule_id. Once I can get records to return for accounting_rule_id, I can pull in the rule name from ra_rules.

Setting up ldap and enabling sso for disussion service
How to do setup of discussion service site so that user base of the discussion site uses an external ldap like OID? It was very easy with Jive(on which oracle's version si based). It was done at the time of installation.
I thought of using system properties that were defined for jive and using the same for oracle's disussion service but not sure what values I can provide for UserManager and GroupManager. I tried giving the same values as that we used in Jive but after restarting the WLS_Services the login function was not working at all. Is there a document that helps in doing this setup.
Also, do we have a document on how to enable SSO with discussion services site?
-PratapI figured out how to do ldap settings for discussions. It is the same approach as that of jive. Go to C:\OracleMiddlewareHome\user_projects\domains\base_domain\config\fmwconfig\servers\WLS_Services\owc_discussions_11.1.1.2.0 and edit the jiveStartup.xml. Change to contain <setup>true</setup> to <setup>false</setup> . And log in to discussion site using the http://localhost:8890/owc_discussions. This will let you go through setup process where we can give the ldap settings.
Can someone please help us in working with SSO?
