Enable scanner issue

have two office jet pro printer,fax,scanner...one in office one at home.  each is seperately identified.  had each 3 years.  been working great until now.  When attempting to scan I select the appropriate printer, but then I'm unable to Enable the device.  The Manage Scan to Computer option has quit functioning.

Hey , Thanks for getting back to me regarding this Scan to Computer issue. I am happy to hear that you are able to scan successfully when initiated from the HP Scan software on your computer. There is a chance that there is a background program running on your computer that is blocking the Scan to Computer service. Therefore, I am going to have you temporarily disable the background programs from running on your Windows 7 computer. Once disabled, I will have you attempt to Enable the Scan to Computer feature and test scanning from the front panel of one of your HP Officejet 8600 printers. Please follow the steps below.  Step 1: MSCONFIG (Disable):   Click on your Start menuIn the 'search programs and files' box right above Start, type msconfig and hit enter on your keyboardWhen the System Configuration Window opens select 'Selective Startup' and uncheck Load Startup ItemsClick the Services tab. Check the box at the bottom for Hide All Microsoft ServicesSelect Disable AllSelect Apply and OKRestart your computer when prompted Once your computer comes back ON please proceed to the next step.    Step 2: Enable Scan to Computer:  1. Click on the HP Printer Assistant icon on your computer desktop   2. Under the HP Printer Assistant click on Manage Scan to Computer    3. Under the Scan to Computer window, if the feature shows as Disabled, click Enable. Make sure the box is checked for 'Automatically start Scan to Computer when I log on to Windows'. Click Close once changes have been made.    Once Scan to Computer has been enabled please test scanning from the front panel of your HP All-in-One. If the scan is successful via the front panel of the HP Officejet, please proceed with the steps below to Enable the background programs on your computer.   Step 3: MSCONFIG (Enable):  Click on your Start menuIn the 'search programs and files' box right above Start, type msconfig and hit enter on your keyboardWhen the System Configuration Window opens select Normal StartupSelect Apply and OKRestart your computer when promptedWhen your computer comes back ON please try scanning from the front panel of your printer again. Should scanning now fail there is likely a program running in the background on your computer that is blocking the Scan to Computer feature as a 'threat' trying to access your system.   Please let me know if the steps I've provided resolve your issue.   • Epson 2480 scanner issues

    Hey
    I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on this problem we have been encountering. We have a number of emacs at our college, well about a hundred, which have started to have issues with our scanners. I have been finding more and more students complaining that their scanner is not responding at all. We run a server and all accounts are shared from there. The scanners in question are Epson perfection 2480's. When the problem students log on the green light on the scanner goes out and remains that way until the student logs out again. sometimes it is not on when a student is logged out. I have noticed that on some occasions too that when the emac is restarted the scanner will have it's green light on, but when the user-name and password screen appears it will turn off again.
    So far the only fix I have found, is to log on the client machine as an administrator. After waiting a few minutes, or by running the epson scan, or photoshop the scanner will burst into life and start to work. I then log out and let the student log back in. The scanner will then usually be fine, until the computer is turned off.
    The first things that jumps out to me is that this must be some type of preference problem as If I the admin can jump start the scanner, then something in the students accounts must be blocking it.
    Can anyone give me any ideas as to what to have a look at, as I have been scratching my head about this for a while. Also with all of these mac's to look after it is also a bit of a pain having to log on as admin to resolve the situation when it occurs.

    This problem has been around for a while at our sit and we have just had to maintain it. Last summer, I formatted all of our machines, and then set them from scratch. We have a number of machines ranging in age so when I tried to do an image of a master machine, it did not work on all and I ended up having to make about 5 images to cover them all.
    All client machines have been installed and setup to be identical. (well as close as) we are currently running, 10.4.9 on our machines, but this problem has occurred through a number of different updates. I have downloaded 2 version of new drivers from epson, each still presenting the same problem too.
    I notice that the regularity of this problem can occur if the machine shave been turned off for a while. Our students are also always unplugging scanners and USB's to plug in their own devices. I also notice that when a scanner is having the problem the green light is off on the front of the scanner. If I unplug the scanner, then light turns on?!? This is without a student even logged in. At first I was thinking that somehow the client is storing the last users preferences and that was disabling the scanner for anyone else, until I came along and logged in as admin. This seems to overwrite the problem, start the scanner and then anyone can use it again. Our mac's also ato off and auto wake so this may also be having some effect on why the scanners keep getting disabled.
    The version of epson scan we are using is: 2.77E
    Im not sure about the driver being enabled for one button push functions, but the scanner does offer that service. All of our students use the twain import in Photoshop to scan images in.
    OK NEWSFLASH!!
    Right I just went into find out if the USB section in profiler finds anything. In one of our rooms we have 18 macs. They were all tunred off at the wall, including the scanners. I turned them all on. The scanners all turned on and displayed a green light. As soon as the mac offered the username and password screen, all of the scanner lights turned off!! I unpluged each scanner and plugged it back in. with the USB cable pulled out, the light on the scanner came on. And as soon as it was plugged back in, out it went again?!?
    I tired to log in on a student account and the scanner light stayed out and I got the error that I have been getting, saying there is no scanner attached.
    I then logged in as a admin on the same machine, and boom, the scanner starts. I tried logging in as admin straight away on another machine and the same happens, the scanner wakes up!
    Ok where do we stand now!, It's like the USB is being disabled after the power has been turned off to the mac.
    As a note, all students do not have access to the profiler or system preferences, We have also disabled some applications acces on our mac so they don;t mess around, could that be part of it?
    any ideas would be greatly received!

    I see you are having issues scanning. I'd like to help, but I have a couple of questions first:
    Do you have the software installed?
    Are you starting the scan from the printer or the software?
    Are you connected via wireless, or USB?
    Are you trying to enable webscan?
    Are you logged into the computer as the administrator?

  • New install (early 2015 MacBook Pro) doesn't enable Scanner

    Setting up this printer on new MacBook Pro and the Scanner isn't being enabled via the standard setup. I installed the HP driver (HP-Inkjet-SW-OSX-Mavericks_v12.34.37.dmg) but this did not work.
    I'm used to the Scan option occuring in System Preferences > Printers and Scanners but the printer is only showing up with the Print option. 
    I'd like to have the Scanning option from the System Preferences view - this has worked find on other Mac models running Yosemite so not sure what the issue actually is...

    I see you are experiencing scan issues.  I would like to help!
    I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
    Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
    I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
    After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer Drivers.

  • HP PSC 1510 AiO Scanner issue

    OK, i've read through a few threads and seems that some people have similar problems as mine, but none of the solutions presented have worked for me.
    I have an iMac with 10.6.4 and the scan function on my HP PSC 1510 AiO will not work. I can plug it into my fiancee's brand new macbook which has 10.6.3 installed and every function works fine. Mine does not even recognize a scanner is present. I've reinstalled the drivers on mine but still nothing. I am beginning to think there is some other underlying issue not related to but affecting the ability to recognize the scanner function.
    Any clues?

    I understand that you are unable to scan with your HP Laserjet 1213nf on Windows 7, and I am happy to help you!
    For further assistance, I will need to know:
    If the printer is connected, Wireless, Ethernet, or USB.
    If the printer is able to make copies by itself.
    If the power cable is plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.
    Since you are using Windows, please try our HP Print and Scan Doctor, and let me know what happens!

  • HP Laserjet M5035 MFP Scanner Issue

    Hi,
      Having trouble with office HP Laserjet M5035 MFP printer. The printer prints jobs fine when they are sent to it from a computer but when you use the ADF or glass scanner bed the document comes out light. Have read many posts and have done all the usual things, toner, clabrate the scanner, update firmware, with no luck. If I go into the copy settings and bump up the density the print looks better but need to do this with every job. I'm thinking the issue is with the scanner assembly but want to check and see if anyone has replaced this unit before and did it resolve the issue. Thanks in advance for any help.

      One thing I was going to try with the formmater board was to bake it. I've had success with baking other formmater boards like the HP 3005 printer. The cold solder joints crack causing issue. I place the formatter board on a cookie sheet with balls of tin foil placed under it to raise it off the cookie sheet. Pre heat over to 350, remove the memory, you can leave the battery installed. Bake in the over for eight minutes. Remove and and let cool. I've done about 20 like this and it's fixed about 15. So worth a try.

    Senario:
    Need to manage 500 Enterprise iPads
    Requirements;
    1) Trackable via Find my iOS device  (we have 500 iPads and with the 100 device limit per iCloud account for Find my iOS device limit we have 5+ iCloud accounts).
    2) Individually named iPads for locating and sending commands to wipe, lost mode, etc.. on map per Find my iOS device (we uniquely name them in Apple Configurator either by using the "sequensetially numbering feature", or by creating individual back ups (yes, 450) with the name specified in the image).
    3) Find my iOS device feature enabled in base Prepared or Supervised image (using one of our 5+ iCloud accounts) (image can be created during prepared stage, or in supervised stage) - tried both and have the same issue - which I am getting to...
    4) VPP codes for paid apps (all VPP codes purchased with generic account which is the Apple Admin account for VPP purchases). Apple Configurator is set up under a different/ unique Apple account (i.e. not VPP admin account) and not logged into iTunes for any purchases/ services).
    Issue: Can not do any following senarios;
    A)
         1) configure master iOS 7 iPad with iCloud account with Find my iOS feature enabled in Prepare stage (added during preparing stage)
         2) configure master iOS 7 iPad with iCloud account with Find my iOS feature enabled in Supervised stage (added after supervising, and then backing up that supervised and iOS Find my iOS device enabled)
    B) 1) Apply master image to any Supervised iPad (under senario step A) or senario step B)), including the (Supervised or/ Prepared iPad that was used to create the maset iOS 7 image
    Result = fail with Apple generic code "4" ; This is obviously due to Find my iOS device feature enabled during image capture.
    According to Apple (see Apple Config. Help) the 'Activation lock' (new feature in iOS 7) will not be enabled on a supervised device when an iCloud account with "Find my iDevice" is enabled. Their "help files" seem to imply after the device is Supervised, and a person (presumably and end user) adds thier own iCloud account with Find my iOS device enabled the activation lock is not enabled and erasing/ reconfiguring with Apple Configurator will not cause reimaging probhlems such as requiring the end user's credentials to reconfigure the device using Apple Configurator (i.e. you won't need the end user's credentials).
    Needed: To be able to configure Supervised iPads with iCloud account (Enterprised owned iCloud account) configured on the basse image, which has Find my iOS device enabled, and to be able to apply that base image to all Enterprise iPads without generic apple error code 4 issue.

    Hi all
    I am trying to replicate these steps in my environment but I am having trouble getting an iCloud backup restored to a supervised device. Can someone clarify the steps? The parts I am unsure on are:
    1) Do you Prepare in Configurator with all the institution owned apps? Or do you install them after restoring the iCloud backup?
    2) After entering the personal AppleID to restore the iCloud backup, the setup wizard prompts for the Institution/Configurator AppleID, there is an option to 'Skip Now'. Do you enter in the password for the institution account? or do you skip that step?
    3) What exactly is on the screen in the 'mini setup assistant' after the restore when you Refresh with Configurator?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Sharing scanner issue with Lion

    I share a scanner on my iMac, until 3 days ago, everything was working with Image Capture. I was able to use my Mac Mini, I could see the scanner in the Shared section. I upgraded mi Mini for a new Model with Lion, and I am unable to scan anymore. Anyone seeing this ? My iMac is still under Snow Leopard. I also share a printer from the iMac and there is no issue in this area.

    So I wonder if one CAN share between Lion and Snow Leopard.....I too am having the same issue of NOT being able to see a scanner connected to a Lion machine in the network of Snow Leopard machines.

  • SAP TAO 2.0 SP4 UI scanner issue

    Hello!
    I am having an issue with SAP TAO 2.0 SP4, once we try to execute a component generated by TAO scanner, the execution fails because QTP11 can not identify the objects with the properties from the component.
    I have compared the URI property assigned by the scanner against the one gotten from TAO spy and are totally different.  If I use the property gotten by the spy the component works fine. The issue, I think, it is the way the scanner is creating the URI.
    The main question here is, do you know if it is possible to modify the code/libraries where the scanner  generate the URI value?
    Any idea or suggestion is welcome!

  • Email Enabled Calendar Issues

    I have set up several email enabled calendars in SharePoint 2010. The users create meetings in Outlook and invite the SharePoint calendar using the email address set up for the calendar.
    We are having some odd issues with recurring meetings. The meetings will show up in the SharePoint calendar when viewing in the browser, but are missing from the SharePoint calendar in Outlook.
    If a user cancels one of the meetings in the series, the item shows as cancelled in the SharePoint calendar, but 3 blank calendar items are also created.
    Any ideas?

    According to your post, my understanding is that you had some issues with the SharePoint calendar.
    We are having some odd issues with recurring meetings. The meetings will show up in the SharePoint calendar

    Did the issue occur when click the F9? You can click the F9 to check whether it works.
    If a user cancels one of the meetings in the series, the item shows as cancelled in the SharePoint calendar,
    but 3 blank calendar items are also created.
    Did the issue occur in other calendars? You can create a new calendar to check whether it works.
    Maybe the calendar had been corrupted.
    Or you can also check the event log and ULS log to see if anything unexpected occurred.
    To check event log, click the Start button and type “Event Viewer” in the Search box.
    For SharePoint 2010, by default, ULS log is at
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS

  • Photoshop Elements 10 Costco special edition a scanner issue

    I downloaded the new software as directed.  However, I lost the ability to import directly from my Canon scanner/printer. 
    My old Photoshop Elements 6 allowed me to do that through ScanGear.  Is there a way to scan directly into
    Elements 10 without having it go to I-photo or desktop?  When I selected Photoshop Elements 10 as a destination, it didn't
    end up there.  With this big upgrade in features, there has to be a way.  I have done all the disconnecting printer, deleting it and reinstalling it.  Opened the help menu and followed it but it didn't help.  What is weird, I can print from Elements 10 so it recognizes the Canon as a printer but not a scanner.  Any suggestions?

    I just uninstalled PSE10.  I couldn't see where there was actually an application for PSE10 in the application folder.  All I had was a file (4k).  That is why PSE editor didn't accept any photos or allow me a way to get photos to it when I tried to set up the editor preference.  My system is probably messed up after trying for two days to upgrade software for the Canon printer, the twain I had was too old and it couldn't get upgraded.  I have two I-Mac one in Az. and one in Wa.  Both are about the same age and have printer/scanners about 3 years old.  If I have the twain issue with both computers because of the new PSE software, I need to buy new ones which will not justify keeping PSE10.  Everything I tried through your diligent return of emails failed.  I am puzzled, as I never have had any problems with your software.  I love it.  I have used it for collages (Scrapper's Guide and my own creations, etc.) I have restored old photos, made cards.  I have 20 thousand photos on my Mac. in Wa. and I have never had an issue dragging a photo into Elements 6.  I was looking forward to your new features.  I guess I am not mentally ready for the installation issues anymore.  You don't suppose there is a problem because it is a special Costco edition.  I never got that far.  Two pictures dragged into your program and now it has an operational error... nothing went into it... no import. 
    Do you ever get to sleep?  You have long hours.

  • Crosstab - Enable Selection issue

    Hello Everyone,
    I have a cross tab with Summary data and have set - Enable Selection option true (which will enable rows selection).
    Now I also have On Select script which picks up the selected value and pass it on to next table for detailed view based on selection.
    When I do single click on the row in summary tab it will pick the value selected and pass to detail view for filter and it works fine.
    Issue -
    But when is double click the same row in summary tab it will not pass the correct value and show some wrong data.
    Did any one faced this kind of issue?

    Hi Rajan,
    In crosstab the first click will select and the second click is deselect that particular row.
    so when you double click it is selcting and deselecting, this might be the reason it's acting like that,

  • Disabled then enabled account issue....

    Here is the issue I am having. There was an account that had been disabled. Today I went and enabled the account and tested it on one of my Windows XP sp3 PC's that has the 4.91sp5 client on it, was able to log in just fine. Just got a report that on a Windows 7 sp1 x64 PC using the Novell Clien 2 sp3 for Windows 7 (IR3) that the account is not being able to be logged in on using the account. The error that is given is a pop up Novell Security Message saying "Your account is disabled or expired! Contact your System Administrator." Behind the pop up is a error "Login failed Error code: 0x800789DC". I have tried this on other win7 PC x64 PC's and they all give the same error.
    Background on our network we are obviously Novell shop running ZCM 11.1 and our servers are OES2.
