Enable screen reader to read oracle Forms 10G
Hi all,
We are using Oraclr Forms & Reports 10G with JRE6. I want to enable screen reader to read our java form screens. I have installed java access bridge 2.0.2 by follow the document http://docs.oracle.com/javase/accessbridge/2.0.2/setup.htm .
As i am using windowx xp 32 bit on client side with windows xp narrator utility or Thunder screen reader, all the neccessary files of access bridge has been copied successfully those are necessary for 32 bit version but screen reader is not reading my oracle forms still.
Is there any further steps i have to perform to achieve my requirement? Is there any configuration of screen reader i have to do?
Please provide me step by step guidance to enable my oracle forms to read by screen reader.
Thanks & best regards.

You can also find additional configuration in the older Forms documentation, however most will still apply in newer versions although file version references and file locations may differer.

How to enable tracing in Oracle Forms 10g
Hi Friends,
I am interested to trace my running oracle forms application. When I googled it, I got below useful information. But theory and practical has mismatch somewhere, I am not able to create the trace file(s).
**************************** Some Notes ****************************************************
How to Enable Tracing in Oracle Forms 10g
Enable Tracing from the url by adding the following to your forms url:
&record=forms&tracegroup=0-98,100-199 (note: item 99 causes some issues, so we are skipping it here. See the Oracle documenation for a description of what is being traced for each item.)
for example
[http://machine:port/forms/frmservlet?config=myConfig&record=forms&tracegroup=0-98,100-199]
You will get a trace file in the following location:
%ORACLE_HOME%\forms\trace\forms_xxx.trc where xxx is the forms session ID.
Open dos window and do the following:
set ORACLE_HOME=
set PATH=%ORACLE_HOME%\jdk\bin;%PATH%
set CLASSPATH=%ORACLE_HOME%\jdbc\lib\classes12.zip;%ORACLE_HOME%\forms\java\frmxlate.jar
java oracle.forms.diagnostics.Xlate datafile=%ORACLE_HOME%\forms\trace\forms_xxx.trc outputfile=%ORACLE_HOME%\forms\trace\html_xxx.html outputclass=WriteOutHTML
you will get a file html_xxx.html in your %ORACLE_HOME%\forms\trace directory.
I need information beyond this to make this practically successful.
Thanks in advance,

Displaying the Oracle Forms 10g
Hi Everyone,
I need help on this one.
I am currently running Oracle Forms 10g and I want to display the Calendar object on an item in my module.
I have attached the relevant libraries i.e Calendar and added the program units as required so in my module there are two additional data blocks that is
DATE_CONTROL_BLOCK and DATE_BUTTON_BLOCK and I have my canvas and the DATE_LOV_CANVAS.
What code do I had to the KeyListVal trigger to enable me to display the Calendar at runtime?Hi,
Actually what I want to find out is how to include a
Calendar in my Form Module at runtime.That wasn't your initial post's question, and what do you mean by at runtime??
You need to have the objects you stated in your first post in the form to be able to show the calendar at runtime.
If you have the Forms Demo read the help files they have explained everything in it. If not you can download it from [url http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/products/forms/index.html]here

Loading image from jars only once in oracle forms 10g
Hi,
I have an oracle forms 10g application which loads image from a jar. Every time i click on a button "A" that loads the image "image" on another button "B" in the same screen, a message is displayed in the java console "Loaded image: jar:https://+IP+/forms/java/+myjar+.jar!/image.gif". So after 10 clicks, i get the same message displayed 10 times. In the form, i've called:
SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY(p_object_name, 1, 'IMAGE_NAME_ON', '/'||p_image_name);My question is the following:
- is there a way to load this image once and use it later without having to load it every time i clik on "A"? if yes, how?
P.S.: if this thread shouldn't be posted in this forum, please redirect me to the right one.
Thanks in advanceAh okay.
I'm using the rolloverbutton.jar (RollOver Button PJC) [RolloverButton.java -> authors: Steve Button, Duncan Mills].
Here is the part concerning the IMAGE_NAME_ON function:
// make sure we are in rollover mode
enableRollover();
log("setProperty - IMAGE_NAME_ON value=" + value.toString());
// load the requested image
m_imageNameOn = (String) value;
loadImage(ON,m_imageNameOn);
// reset the currrently drawn image if needed
setImage(ON,m_state);
return true;where loadImage function is:
URL imageURL = null;
boolean loadSuccess = false;
//JAR
log("Searching JAR for " + imageName);
imageURL = getClass().getResource(imageName);
if (imageURL != null)
log("URL: " + imageURL.toString());

loadSuccess = true;
log("Image found: " + imageURL.toString());
catch (Exception ilex)
log("Error loading image from JAR: " + ilex.toString());
else

//DOCBASE
if (loadSuccess == false)

try
if (imageName.toLowerCase().startsWith("http://")||imageName.toLowerCase().startsWith("https://"))
imageURL = new URL(imageName);
else
imageURL = new URL(m_codeBase.getProtocol() + "://" + m_codeBase.getHost() + ":" + m_codeBase.getPort() + imageName);
log("Constructed URL: " + imageURL.toString());
try
m_images[which] = createImage((java.awt.image.ImageProducer) imageURL.getContent());

Oracle JInitiator: Version 1.3.1.22Oracle Jinitiator is not compatible with IE 7/8, you have to use the Sun JRE 1.6.0._16 or higher instead. Take a look at section *2.2 Oracle Forms Applications on Client Platforms* in the Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2) Certification Matrix.
After installing the Sun JRE 1.6.0, you will need to modify the %DEVSUITE_HOME%\forms\server\formsweb.cfg to set the correct JRE version information. Make the following changes:

Oracle reports 6i to Oracle forms 10g migration
Hi,
I have .rdf files which were created on Oracle Reports 6i. I would like to migrate the .rdf files into Oracle Reports module which is present as a part of Oracle Forms 10g to generate PDF output.
Please let me know the detailed steps to be followed as I am a total newbie. Also I need to generate these reports on demand from a java 5 application (JSF 2.0).
Currently for ORacle reports 6i, I have the following code in my java application
rwrun60.exe g:\tomcat33\webapps\reports\web-inf\src\null userid=***/*** destype=FILE desformat="pdf" paramform=NO printjob=NO batch=YES desname=temp.pdf
1. What would be the equivalent for reports in ORacle Forms 10g ? I know there is an Oracle Apps server where ther report services reside. How to I invoke my report from my java application (residing on a weblogic server 10.3.6)?
2. What ould I do with the 6i .rdf files to upgrade them to 10g ?I am trying to call an Oracle report i.e .rdf (which is located on the Oracle App Server) from my java EE 5 (JSF) application. The Oracle App server is Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2. I assume Oracle report generation capability is available in this release. I need to invoke the report from my Java JSF application on demand (whenever the user clicks a button on the web browser page, the report should appear on the browser as PDF) . My java application resides on Linux weblogic server.
Please let me know how it can be done ? I see rwclient.sh and another method to directly invoke using a URL. How do I do it on java, would a request.redirect() to the URL work ?
Also for hiding the params in the URL. keys need to be configured on the Oracle server right ?
Also if we use rwclient.sh or the URL based invocation, would there be any issue in concurrency when multiple users request the same report at the same time ? -

How to use LDAP with Oracle forms 10g on Oracle application server
Hi,
I need some help on this. I have developed oracle forms 10g on application server 9iAS. The client want to use the existing LDAP authentication to the software we wrote. I do not know how I could configure to use the existing LDAP authentication . If anyone know how would I use the existing LDAP on different server to use when they logon to our menu in 10g to validate the user. Do I need to add any varibales in formweb.cfg or any other method. Please help.
Thanks
LukshI am not quite sure if this works out of the box. According to an Oracle FAQ:
4.2 Can I use LDAP to authenticate Forms Services?
Not directly. However, Oracle Login Server is able to authenticate against a LDAP directory and thus a Forms application can take advantage of this in a SSO environment. But you cannot use access control information stored in a LDAP directory with Forms. -

How to Install Oracle Forms 10g (9.0.4) Demos
Hi.
My forms version is :
Forms [32 bits] Versión 10.1.2.0.2 (Producción)
Oracle Toolkit Versión 10.1.2.0.2 (Producción)
PL/SQL Versión 10.1.0.4.2 (Producción)
I'm trying to install Oracle Forms 10g (9.0.4) Demos. Everything works fine until step 5. I can even access the forms demos home page(changing forms90 to forms). However when i try to access any link, i get the following error:
404 Not Found Resource /forms90/f90servlet not found on this server
What's wrong?. I believe forms is pointing to the wrong direction:
http://mluis:8888/forms90/f90servlet?config=reusable_picklist
For example to show the tick image on step five on install guide, I have to replace
http://mluis:8888//forms90/formsdemo/images/tick.gif
for http://mluis:8888//forms/formsdemo/images/tick.gif
This is because I don't have a forms90 directory in my Oracle_Home. I changed forms90 for forms in formsdemo.env. But still doesn't work. So my question is
- Are these forms demos built for my forms version?.
- If not, what do i have to change in order to make things work. I'm really interested in some special features like PJC, Webutil etc.
- The configuration is still pointing at a forms90 directory. I need to change it to just forms but don't know which files.
Thanks in advance ...!Hi,
Have you resolved this issue? I have gotten a bit further.
You also need to change any f90xxxxxx to frmxxxxxx
But the servlet cannot seem to find any of the demo forms.
I assume a path issue, but cannot seem to find it.
Any clues?
Thanks. -
How to use Java Script in Oracle Forms 10g
Hello,
Appreciate if anyone could help me using Java Script in Oracle Forms 10g?
Thanks
GMThank you for your reply. I was reading on the metalink that we could use the to call the java script from oracle Forms 10g (Doc ID 265863.1)
Example:
WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT ('javascript:void(window.open("http://www.oracle.com","","location=no,toolbar=no,menubar=no,status=no,"));self.close()','_blank');
I tried it but it did not open the any window as it claims. Am I missing anything? Is there any IE related setting which I need to modify for the above to work?

This tells me you are using a 3rd party or locally developed Java Bean to perform some type of print function. Is this correct?
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: java.io.IOException: open HTTP connection failed.Does your printtext.jar Java Bean need to open an HTTP connection in order to print?
Have you been able to print in the past using this Java Bean? Where did you get the Java Bean?
