Enable TPM on a HP ENVY 15-j092nr Notebook PC?

So before I bought this laptop I specificlaly talked to HP help services who assured me that all the newest HP models come with TPM chips. Now I'm trying to enable it on my HP ENVY 15-j092nr Notebook PC and I'm not seeing it in the BIOS. What gives?

Yeah it's not in the BIOS and I saw that it wasn't in the spec sheet but TPM is standard on many laptops now. Hence the reason I contacted HP and this is literally what I was told:
07/21/2013 04:31:14PM Session Started with Agent (Lora C)
07/21/2013 04:31:14PM Victor: "Does the ENVY TouchSmart 15t-j000 Quad Edition series laptop come with a TPM chip? I need it for work and will not purchase this laptop if it doesn't."
07/21/2013 04:31:19PM Agent (Lora C): "Thank you for contacting HP Home and Home Office Sales Chat. My name is Lora. I've read your concern so let's get started."
07/21/2013 04:31:39PM Agent (Lora C): "Hello, Victor! How are you? Hope you are doing well today!"
07/21/2013 04:31:51PM Victor: "I'm fine thanks."
07/21/2013 04:32:07PM Agent (Lora C): "To answer your question, let me go ahead and check my resources here for you."
07/21/2013 04:32:19PM Agent (Lora C): "I am glad to know that you are doing fine today. You are welcome."
07/21/2013 04:33:25PM Agent (Lora C): "By the way, are there any specific features you are looking for in a notebook computer aside from the chip that you are looking for?"
07/21/2013 04:34:13PM Victor: "well I customized the envy touchsmart quad to fit my other needs. I just want to make sure it has a TPM chip to ensure I can use it as a work laptop as well as a personal one"
07/21/2013 04:34:52PM Victor: "but I program so the fact that it has a quad core and 16gb of ram is a big sale for me"
07/21/2013 04:35:50PM Agent (Lora C): "I understand, Victor. You need not to worry, as I have checked the computer it has the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) chip."
07/21/2013 04:36:11PM Agent (Lora C): "All our HP PC has this kind of chip, Victor."
07/21/2013 04:36:51PM Victor: "perfect. It wasn't listed in the specs so just wanted to be sure before purchasing"
07/21/2013 04:36:59PM Agent (Lora C): "Are you ready to make a purchase now for the computer? You have an awesome choice!"
07/21/2013 04:37:10PM Agent (Lora C): "One of the best resources that we have to place your order is our Sales Center. Please call 866.221.4553 and a Sales Representative will be able to assist you with your order placement and answer any remaining questions that you have. Their hours of opera"
&nbsp tion are between: 7:00 AM - 2:00 AM EST, seven days a week.
07/21/2013 04:37:38PM Victor: "okay thanks. This should take care of all my questions"
07/21/2013 04:37:58PM Agent (Lora C): "I understand, Victor. I can guarantee that the computer does have the chip."
07/21/2013 04:38:20PM Agent (Lora C): "You are most welcome, Victor. I hope this information has been of great assistance for you today."

  • How do I enable TPM in the bios on Product name: HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC

    Hi,
I have run into a problem trying to enable MS Bitlocker on Windows 8.1 on
Product name: HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC
    BIOS version is: F.1C
In the Windows UI, the TPM (Trusted Computing Module) management console says that I need to enable TPM in the BIOS.
    Issue:
There does not appear to be any proverbial "on" switch in the BIOS for TPM versions 1.2 (or 2).
    Question:
Anyone out there know how to resolve this?
I know there may be a way to get around this using group policy on the machine or to buy a USB key solution.
Looking for the hardware solution in the laptop if possible please.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi:
As far as I am aware, HP consumer notebooks do not have a Trusted Platform Module chip.
Check the device manager...if there is a TPM chip, there will be a Security Devices category in the device manager, and you would see the TPM chip listed under that category.
If not, then there isn't one.

As per the info below, I'm afraid the Lenovo G510 doesn't have a TPM chip.

  • Enable TPM on M73

We have just received some ThinkCentre M73's and need to enable TPM on the pc's as we will be encrypting them with bitlocker as part of an MDT process.  On our Dell pc's there are options within the BIOS to enable and activate the chip but I am unable to find this on the M73's.  Can anyone advise how I can do this please.
    Many Thanks

  • I have an HP ENVY TS 17 Notebook PC that I'm trying to install an ssd

I recently bought an HP ENVY TS 17 Notebook PC, nice laptop. Anyway, I bought a samsung evo ssd, I bought the drive caddy for it online, but I can not get the laptop to see the drive. I pulled it apart 5 different times thinking that I messed up. But after all that I still can't get it to work. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GIGJYBG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. This is the drive caddy that I bought. I thought this was the right one, but I don't know. If anyone can help me, please respond to this post. Thanks

    Hello wily51501,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand your notebook will not recognize a newly installed solid state drive (SSD).
Are you checking in the system BIOS to determine if the drive is detected, or with the HP Recovery / Windows software? Sometimes it's as easy as enabling the drive in the BIOS. You can find information on this here, covered on step 7: Installing or Replacing a Hard Drive
Here is a great guide that walks you through upgrading to an SSD: HP SSD Upgrade Kit Installation Guide. Furthermore this Maintenance and Service Guide has some more specific information for your exact notebook. It could be that the caddy you purchased is defective if the BIOS does not recognize the drive.
Here is a document published by Seagate that talks about drives that are not detected:  The BIOS does not detect or recognize the ATA / SATA hard drive.
    Hopefully this information helps!

  • How to disable touchpad when usb mouse in on HP ENVY dv7-7259nr Notebook PC‏ using Windows 7

I would like to have my touch pad disabled when using my USB mouse or otherwise be able to manually disable it.  It is a pain to use when typing with the touch pad enabled but I would like to use the touch pad on occasions such as when I am traveling or if my mouse goes out. Not to mention, I would need to re-enable the touh pad if for some reason I have no mouse (keyboard shortcut?)
I am using windows 7 on my HP ENVY dv7-7259nr Notebook PC‏

This is what it looks like.
You should consider returning you notebook to the Windows 8 OS. There are many new features that it has that Windows 7 never did. Download use the free open source software called classic shell to give yourself a start button in Windows 8 that even has more features than Windows 7 start buton does. Once you use Windows 8 for a while you will enjoy it, especially the refresh feature and lower memory use.
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Windows 7 drivers.
    regards,

  • How do I play dvds on hp envy touchsmart 15 notebook with an external player and Windows 8.1.

I have a HP Envy Touchsmart 15 NOtebook PC. I bought an external HP DVD player model dvd600s-H01 5 but I cannot play DVDs.

    Hi @pattyathome
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are having trouble with an external  dvd player attached to your notebook.
What is the full product number for your notebook? Please read the following if you need help in finding that.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Does your notebook already have a built in dvd drive?
Did you install the drivers and software that came with the external dvd player? If there was originally no DVD player in your notebook, it is likely that there is no dvd player application loaded.
So in that event I would recommend installing from the software disk with the DVD drive.

    Hello all,
My product is the HP ENVY TS 15 Notebook PC.
    Product number: E3B65PA#AR6
    OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit
A few days ago, I  upgraded my windows from windows 8 to windows 8.1 and found that no sound coming from the HDTV when connecting my HDMI cable however video is perfectly fine. I was completely baffled because the audio was working perfectly fine before upgrading to Windows 8.1. I have tried several solutions posted on other forums, such as installing other drivers, and uninstalling the IDT High Definition Audio Driver and then scanning for a hardware change. I have checked the HDMI cable and it is working fine with other laptop.
Device manager is showing 2 device :
High Definition audio device ( Showing yellow traingle)
      IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
When I am opening the properties of High Definition audio device it is showing :
This device cannot start (code 10)
    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.
If anyone knows how to fix the problem, please help me
    thanks in advance

    Hi:
The IDT audio driver (notebook speakers) appears to be working fine.
The problem is probably with the Intel graphics driver which  controls the HDMI audio.
My recommendation would be to install the latest Intel graphics driver from the link below and see if that fixes the problem.

I have tried several solutions posted on other forums, such as installing other drivers, and uninstalling the IDT High Definition Audio Driver and then scanning for a hardware change. Hello skyeisthelimit. I understand there is no sound produced by the notebook. Based on the description, I believe that the issue is software-based. However, I'm not going to eliminate faulty hardware from my mind. You have attempted some troubleshooting, which is great. I am going to provide some troubleshooting as well (certain steps you already completed). Please follow all troubleshooting in the order I suggest:
First, there is Microsoft Wizard Tutorial that troubleshoots sound issues in Windows 8.1. Please follow the wizard until it is finished. You can locate this wizard here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows/no-sound-help#no-sound=windows-8&v1h=win8tab1&v2h=win7tab...
Second, follow all of the troubleshooting, suggest in this HP document: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c03257712
Eventually, you will be asked to reinstall updated drivers. Please install this one: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-124012-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
Assuming the issue is not resolved, the next step is to refresh Windows 8. This will force the computer to return to Windows 8. It will also clean up the computer, to a certain extent (it is not as powerful as a recovery). For more information on how to refresh Windows, please reference this Microsoft document: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc
If refreshing the operating system does not resolve the issue, reinstall the operating system is the next step. Ensure you backup all of your data beforehand.
For information on how to effectively backup your computer, please reference this document: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c03270359
For information on how to perform a system recovery, please reference this document: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c03489643
Please respond with the results of your troubleshooting. I'm only here to help!

  • Docking station for my HP ENVY TS 15 Notebook PC

I just bought this laptop and I need to buy a dociking station to it. With my previous laptop there was a connector on the bottom that would snap to the docking station and make it work.  The HP ENVY TS 15 Notebook PC does not seem to have any special connections. What dociking station it uses? Thanks

Consumer laptops no longer have an option for a "snap down" dock which is a shame but now industry standard. HP Business models do have that option. The only thing you can use with consumer models is a USB 3.0 "docking station" which is a bit of a misnomer since they are really "port replicators". However, USB 3.0 has enough bandwidth to replicate any and all ports on the laptop so they can have gigabit ethernet, good audio and even multi-monitor video that works fine.  Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/HP-Replicator-Docking-H1L08AA-ABA/dp/B008KMDVME   See, this one has 2 x usb 2 2 x usb 3, audio, ethernet, hdmi and displayport. It has its own power supply so when you hook up the laptop you hook up two cables to the laptop...its own power cord, and then connect this into one usb 3.0 on the laptop. Almost as quick as "snap down".  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

That is a single band...aka 2.4g at 300mbps not 5g as you thought. This isn't a dual band if you want 2.4/5...that has to say a/b/g/n to quality for dual band wifi. That wifi will never best a 2.4/5g 300mpbs dual band wifi.

The display is a WLED backlit type, not RGB LED.
The color gamut is in the neighborhood of 68%.
Even an iMac with a Retina display does not provide a wide color gamut.
