ENABLE VLAN ID GYREYED OUT IN VM PROPERTIES IN SCVMM 2012 SP1

Dear All,
I have a strange issue with Hyper-V SCVMM 2012 SP1. "Enabled VlanID" is greyed out if I take VM properties in SCVMM 2012 SP1. But at the same time I am able to change it in Hyper-V host! strangely it doesn't happen to all VMs! Any help is appreciated
as google doesn't give me any fruitful answer. appreciate your great support.

Are you using logical networks for all your networks in SCVMM? That is where the VLAN ID would be set for any network defined as a logical network. If you do not have it defined as a logical network, you would be able to set the VLAN ID.
It does not surprise me at all that you can get to it within Hyper-V Manager. When you install clustering and SCVMM, these are hierarchical management tools, and you should always manage from the highest level down. Generally only go to a lower
level when the highest level says to. SCVMM is highest and Hyper-V Manager is lowest. If you make changes at a lower level, it might not be reflected properly in the higher level until some sort of refresh occurs.

SCOM 2012 SP1 Report Timed out

Hi All,
My large reports are timing out after 30 minutes in SCOM 2012 SP1, with the error: The Operation has timed out
I'm trying to run the Performance Detail report from Microsoft Generic Report Library against Windows Server 2008 Operating System group (1400 servers) for last 1 year for Percent memory used. I can run the same report for Windows Server 2012 Operating System
group (200 servers) sucecssfully.
I've already verified and configured the reporting services for reports to not time out.

Hi There,
Based on my knowledge, When ever a SQL query is ran against any database the query output is executed and stored in TempDB and then it is shown to your SSMS or reporting application.
So i would suggest you check the size of the temp SQLDB and see if auto growth is enabled for that and does your drive as well have enough space to hold that temp DB in its local drive if the DB grows its self.
As querying 1 years data for 1400 servers is a huge data and requires lot of time and space.

VLAN ID not shown in SCVMM 2012 R2

After upgrading to SCVMM 2012 R2 (from SCVMM 2012 SP1)
The VLAN ID isn't showing anymore, i know its still there because its showing in Hyper-V Manager.
When you change the VLAN ID it does apply the settings (i can verify in Hyper-V manager) but it still does not show it.
Hyper-V Host: Windows 2008 R2
SCVMM Host: Windows 2012 R2
Using the combination SCVMM 2012 R2 and Hyper-V 2012 R2 there is no issue and it shows the VLAN ID.

When you're trying to check the network configuration using VMM powershell commands, does it shows the vLan id or not ?

If so, the issue is only related to the GUI console (I have seen that with some network-related features in RTM of VMMR2, but was working in Powershell).
For those who gets issues with Live-Migrations in R2, can you try to perform the same using powershell ?

As per my requirement, I have a Document Library that's set to YES for "Require documents to be checked out before they can be edited" and i have created a Document Set inside this Document Library.Document set is configured
to create a OneNote document content type within it. When i am creating a OneNote document I am getting below mentioned Error while trying to sync.
This section cannot be synced because Check-in Check-Out or Required Properties are enabled in the SharePoint library. Disable Check-In Check-Out and Required Properties or move this notebook to a different location. (Error code: 0xE000078E)
Is there any settings that i can do without modifying Document Library Settings.
I just try out the information given on below mentioned U, but No Luck.

Have you looked specifically at the Title field? That's a common offender. It might also be worth activating Content Type management on your library, so you can inspect each of the fields in the content type that's being saved too

File Save As Other Reader Extended PDF Enable Commenting & Measuring GRAYED OUT

I have an PDF form created in Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 10.0.
When I open in Reader, All the "Sign" options are grayed out.
Under "Properties" Signing is allowed but Commenting is not.
From all I have seen, I hope that allowing Commenting will allow me to use the sign features.
The only solution I'm finding on the internet is below:
File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Commenting & Measuring
It is grayed out in my (latest version of) Acrobat pro.
**Is there a way to make this option available?**
**Will this even solve my problem?**
**Is it possible that it is impossible to use these features on this document?**
At this point, I've spent about two and a half hours on this issue and haven't been able to find a solution. Very frustrated.

Thanks. I'm not an IT person and needed that lead.
In the end, I just printed to Adobe PDF and then was able to use the commenting options (once I had flattened it). For those who might come across this - this is one of the only ways to flatten a XFA PDF.

Cannot enable VLAN on VM

Hi all,
I cannot enable VLAN identification for VM, when I try to apply I get message: "Error Applying Network Adapter Changes. The Operation on computer 'ServerName' failed.". Previously everything was fine.
In event viewer I see following error:
Event ID 95, Source: Hyper-V-VmSwitch
The VLAN configuration being set on port 036E9BF5-0646-4DC4-967C-B8E4A9A2FB29 (Friendly Name: External_ExternalPort) on switch 749C7BFE-0926-4957-9B95-5D24CE4B1225 (Friendly Name: LAN) is invalid. Reason: VLAN settings other than Access VLAN Id must be zero
The same situation if I try to uncheck 'Enable VLAN identification' on VM where VLAN was already set. Reboot didn't help. NIC firmware upgrade didn't help.
Host info: Dell PowerEdge R710, Two Broadcom NET Extreme II NICs inside NIC team created by BACS, HyperV 2012 Server OS.
How to figure this out?

SCOM 2012 SP1 Test environment - "New View" is greyed out?

I'm new to SCOM....
I just created a SCOM 2012 SP1 test environment, but for some reason the "New View" button is greyed out. (I attached a screenshot)
I can't figure out why and it pretty frustrating. I'm assuming it is a permissions issue, but I can't figure out how to get this feature enabled.

The "New View" is greyed out if you try to create a new View in a sealed Management Pack.
You can create a new View only in unsealed Management Pack's inside the console.

VLAN trunking on Hyper-V from SCVMM 2012 R2

hi All,
I have a multiple Hyper-V host, each hyper-V host have 2 physical NIC, 1 Physical NIC connected to Management Network, and the other 1 Physical NIC connected to Production LAN.
We have 5 VLAN ID in Production LAN,
based on my experience we can set VLANID's on Network Adapter in VM level, and also we can set VLAINID's on Virtual Switch but only for single VLAN not multiple VLAN.
The question are as following:
1. Can we set Trunk on Virtual Switch from SCVMM 2012 R2 console? On this article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh848475.aspx, we can set Trunk for VM by using Set-VMNetworkAdapterVlan, not for virtual switch.
2. In SCVMM, we can create Logical Network put the VLAN and subnet, create Logical Switch, port profile, port classification, and associate the Logical Switch to Logical Network. Then we need to add the Logical Network to Hyper-V host. is it means
that the logical switch become Trunk mode?

Ya, just create vswitch without vlanid, then add vlan id on VM network adapter, and config the switch port behind the server. It's just work.

SQL 2012 SP1 Enterprise (SSRS in SharePoint mode): Reporting Services scale-out deployment is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services

SSRS in SharePoint mode is driving me insane.
We are recreating a SharePoint 2013 (SP1) farm in a test environment with the following set-up:
2 SP Web FrontEnds
2 SP Application Servers
1 SQL Server
At both SP APP Servers, we installed SSRS (SQL 2012 Enterprise w/ SP1) in SP integrated mode.
We managed to start the SSRS SP service at the first SP APP Server. However when we try to start it on the second APP Server, we get the following error:
"Reporting Services scale-out deployment is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. This edition only supports one instance of the SQL Server Reporting Services Service in the farm. The SQL Server Reporting Services service cannot
be started on this server unless it is stopped on all other servers in the farm. "
Now I can't stress this enough: This is a SQL Server 2012 SP1 Enterprise. This is the image we got from our MSDN subscription. There is no mistake here.
Could someone please advise why SP might think this version of SSRS is not the correct one?

I'm afraid that is not it.
After a long, frustrating and strenuous investigation and troubleshooting, we found the problem.
The problem is the current ISO for SQL Server 2012 Enterprise SP1 (x64) found at MSDN. Bear in mind that we downloaded this ISO from MSDN about a month ago.
As soon as we recreated the environment using the ISO for SQL Server 2012 Enterprise SP2 (x64) found at MSDN, everything worked as expected -- and that includes running more than one SSRS in SharePoint mode.
Also bear in mind that we tried updating the SQL SP1 install with SP2 and subsequent cumulative updates but that never fixed the problem.
There is something fundamentally wrong with that ISO with SP1 slipstreamed in it that no matter the subsequent updates installed, SSRS in SharePoint mode fails to work properly on a multi-server environment. We went as far as SP2 with CU3 and nothing seemed
to fix the problem. And yes, we also performed manual updates to the SSRS and PowerPivot SharePoint MSI add-ins.
I am shocked and distraught to find out that I lost hours of work due to a dodgy ISO image.

SCVMM 2012 R2 HyperV host not pulling PA (Provider Address) when running NVGRE enabled VMs

Hello,
I have a SCVMM 2012 R2 NVGRE enabled environment that I setup according to Kristian Nese's "Hybrid Cloud with NVGRE" guide.
I have a "Compute" host group setup in SCVMM that is using a Failover Cluster of two WS2012R2 servers that have a iSCSI LUN for VM storage. The cluster itself working fine.
There is a "Gateway" host group that has one server in it being used for the NVGRE Gateway.
The problem I am having is that any VMs I deploy on a VM network that has network virtualization enabled on the PA Network cannot access the internet. The NVGRE Gateway can access the internet just fine. The VMs pull PA addresses and CA addresses correctly.
The NVGRE gateway host pulls a PA address fine. The only thing that I can tell that is not working correctly is that when I run "get-netvirtualizationprovideraddress" on a hyperv host that has VMs that are using a network with virtualzation enabled,
it doesn't return any output. Also, when I run "get-netvirtualizationlookuprecord" on the NVGRE host, it does not list the two hyperv "Compute" nodes at all. So, as far as I can tell, the two VM host servers are not pulling a Provider Address.
But, I have read that they are supposed to automatically pull a PA address as soon as a VM using network virtualization is deployed and running.
I've been working on this for the last week, and I'm at a complete loss. I have no idea where to go from here. Any help would be much appreciated.

1. when i use scvmm 2012 r2 sp1 ru2 to move a vm to another host(with no vlan trunk ) and change vlan 2 to vlan disabled. the network of vm was lost,when i check the network property on hyper-v management console ,i saw the vlan still the original setting,
but when i check the network propery on scvmm ,the vlan setting shows disabled,then i refresh the vm on scvmm console,the vlan setting shows vlan 2.

Now I see, with Intel SCS add-on for SCCM 2012 it will be the most simple solution. Even better than to have Intel scs standalone, that was an complex setup on dhcp and so on...
Just one thing more, When you configure AD for AMT you have to set a OU. but if you have computers in two ou, I cant see how I can configure that?

Is it possible to enable Keypress in fullscreen out of CS5?

I do a lot of multimedia presentations for events/awards/summits using flash where I have to assign numbers/letters to call certain screens (eg. a speaker screen) at any time, and I understand Adobe have disabled the keypress functions entirely when publishing out of CS5.
Is it at all possible to bypass this and allow the key presses to be enabled? Or is this pretty much a “like it or lump it” it doesn’t work anymore issue.
The only work around I have been able to work out is to save down to CS4 and publish from that, which kind of seems a bit silly and backwards.
I see Director is still alive, am I going to have to switch back to that after 10 years… i really don't want to do that.

i don't think it will matter what cs version you use to publish. what matters is the player version used to display your swf.
however, if you use an exe or air app, you can probably still capture keypresses even in fullscreen.

Enable/view subs - pre-scripts or button properties?

You have a number of ways in DVDSP to enable/disable subtitles for a Track.
Mostly, I use SetSystemStream in a pre-script for a Track, and then I use SPRM8/GPRM5.
But, given that you have separate buttons (play with subs, play without subs) you can also use button properties for the subs.
Somewhere way back, I was told by HalMcLean that pre-scripts sometimes can cause problems - but I don't remember if that was particularly with subs or rather other parameters.
What way would you guys go? Script or button?

So, what do you suggest? Setting the subs in the button properties, or rather use a script with a jump to the Track (where you set the system stream before the jump)?
For this qick job I actually used a pre-script in the single Track (systemstrrem sub on/off) and it seemed to work fine in both Simulator, Apple DVD player and three different hardware DVD players.
Fingers crossed....
