Enabled the testing repository, is it safe to disable it now?

So, i have noticed that the new KDE packages are available in the Testing repo.
I enabled testing, updated my KDE.
I don't need the testing repository anymore.
Can i disable it?
Or i should have waited until the packages were moved to Extra?
Thanks in advance.

Disabling it shouldn't be a problem.

  • [SOLVED] pacman & test repository

    Hi,
    I have two questions:
    1) Where should the testing repository be added in the pacman config? Right now the order of my repositories is default:
    61 [core]
62 # Add your preferred servers here, they will be used first
    63 Include = /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
    64
    65 [extra]
66 # Add your preferred servers here, they will be used first
    67 Include = /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
    68
    69 [community]
70 # Add your preferred servers here, they will be used first
    71 Include = /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
Where in this order would [testing] go? I'm not sure where it should be placed.
    2) Is there a way to specifically tell pacman which packages I want to be updated in the testing repository? For example, I do not want Apache to be updated from [testing] but I may want Subversion to be updated from that repository.
    Thanks.

skottish wrote:Testing is listed first in makepkg.conf. On the rare occasions that I've used testing this has worked fine. As far as the second request, I would enable testing, update the database, install the package I was looking for (with its dependencies), then disable testing. You could go through all of the work of IgnorePkg =, but I wouldn't bother.
How about an EnablePkg= ? That would pretty much solve my problem I believe. Why do you mention makepkg.conf? Doesn't it need to be in pacman.conf? I'm confused...
Adding/Removing stuff from a config file everytime I want to update isn't really something I want to do. I'd rather not use [testing] at all in that case. Gentoo can do this, I was hoping Archlinux could as well.

  • Testing repository

Hey guys. I just started messing with Arch (came from Gentoo) and so far I'm impressed. I'm curious about the testing repository, though. I don't want this to be a testing system, but there are a couple of updates in testing I would like. Is it possible to selectively pull packages out of testing with pacman or is it an all or nothing? Would I just be better off building from source until it moves into one of the other repos?
    Thanks
    -mS

Yes, you can, but it's not recommended.  The packages in testing are built against other packages that may be in testing so installing single packages from testing has the potential to break things.  To do this, however, you can enable the testing repo at the BOTTOM of your /etc/pacman.conf, then install testing packages via pacman -S testing/packagename.

  • Can I Test the Test Package Created in SolMan Directly from ECC?

    Hi,
the test plan and test packages are created in Solution Manager. The Test Packages are comprised of transactions (on ECC).
(The business scenarios and processes are defined in Solar01, ECC is defined as logical component and assigned to every tx, the test case description is uploaded in Solar02,...)
The needed Trusted RFC (to enable the tester to start the tx from within SolMan) is running late, but I can see that STWB_WORK tx is also available in ECC.
Of course - when I open it in ECC (logged on as a test user - defined in test package in SolMan) the test package is empty in ECC.
What kind of connection is there within STWB_WORK in ECC and SolMan?
Can one somehow "transfer" the packages from SM to ECC, so the tester can start to test the transactions from ECC directly?
Is it possible to see the results and status overview in SolMan during and after testing?
    Thank you in advance,
    cheers,
    Nenad

    Hi
You getting confused between old ECC test workbench and Solution Manager Test workbench.
Test workbench is present there from r/3 version onwards.
When you are performing testing via solman then you have to use the test packages assign to you in STWB_WORK which has the relevant transaction and doc for you to test
here you upload the test result and update status .Later any PM can generate report for overall testing including entire landscape and not one system.
But remember it has got no connection to ur r/3 workbench
The diff between 2 is...solman test workbench is for entire landscape including BI R/3 ECC any other system ...but in r/3 etc the workbench is alone and obsolete now is used for standalone testing.
Hope it carifies ur doubt completely

  • Test Repository - Use of our own business process model as structure

We want to use our own business process model as structuring element in the test repository.
I entered my hierarchy by the transaction STWBM using environment/application hierarchy / Customer.
But my hierarchy is not visible in the test repository. Instead, there is always the SAP hierarchy.
How can I use my hierarchy in the test repository?

    I have the same problem.
We are new on using the solution manager to do the test.
Now we want to put all the test cases (manual) in the test repository, and in other time link they to the other projects.
But the question is: How can i storage the test case in the repository to garantee when I do a new project I dont forget any test case needed from  the repository?

  • If an internal ID is changed for the Work Repository how does it affect objects that are already in it?  Will they continue to run or do you need to cycle the ODI agent?

I was having trouble migrating the Master and Work repositories from my QA to my Prod environment.  I was getting an error message that the internal id's were alike so I changed the internal id in my Prod Master repository.  Then I tried to migrate the Work repository and was getting a similar error.  I did a search on the internet for the error message and it recommended that I renumber the Work repository so I did.    My concern now is how these changes affect the objects that are already in the repositories?  Will those objects continue to run?  Also do these changes take affect immediately or do you need to cycle the ODI agent?

Well I cannot completely assure you but so far I have not faced any issues after a renumber. It will affect the exist object only when you have imported the object in synonym_update mode. I believe you have the daily backup of your production repository.

  • Error in XSLT mapping TEST in the Integration Repository?

    Hi,
I try to use imported .xsl file for mapping. I have configured the interface mapping using this .xsl file for transformation. But when I try to test the transformation in the TEST (bookmark), it returns as the result the same .xsl - the stylesheet!
    Is it a bug?
    Thanx, Peter

What more, it doesn't work so only in the test... I used this transformation in the BPM process and it has produced the stylesheet as the result of the transformation... It doesn't seem as a bug...
    What is wrong?
...one more thing: detailed log of the transformation in the TEST shows NO WARNING!

  • Problem creating unit testing repository (and workaround)

I tried to create the unit testing repository with a user that had all the required system privileges granted through a different role other than RESOURCE and CONNECT roles, and who wasn't explicitely granted CREATE VIEW, but inherited it through the custom role. However the check in SQL Developer is explicitely for the RESOURCE and CONNECT roles (regardless of what privileges they have granted to them in whichever database version past, present or future) and for CREATE VIEW privilege granted direct to the user:
    SELECT DECODE (roles.required_role_count + privs.required_priv_count,
                   3, 1,
                   0)
              AS basic_privs_granted
FROM (SELECT COUNT (*) AS required_role_count
              FROM user_role_privs
WHERE granted_role IN ('CONNECT', 'RESOURCE')) roles,
           (SELECT COUNT (*) AS required_priv_count
              FROM USER_SYS_PRIVS
WHERE privilege IN ('CREATE VIEW')) privsI found this SQL contained within the sqldeveloper/extensions/oracle.sqldeveloper.unit_test.jar in an XML file: oracle/dbtools/unit_test/manage_user/UserSql.xml and replaced the SQL with one that actually checks for the specific system privileges:
    SELECT DECODE (required_sys_priv_count,
                   10, 1,
                   0)
              AS basic_privs_granted
      FROM
           (SELECT COUNT(*) AS required_sys_priv_count FROM
             (SELECT privilege
                FROM role_sys_privs
               WHERE privilege IN ('CREATE CLUSTER','CREATE INDEXTYPE','CREATE OPERATOR','CREATE PROCEDURE','CREATE SEQUENCE','CREATE SESSION','CREATE TABLE','CREATE TRIGGER','CREATE TYPE','CREATE VIEW')
              UNION
              SELECT privilege
                FROM user_sys_privs
WHERE privilege IN ('CREATE CLUSTER','CREATE INDEXTYPE','CREATE OPERATOR','CREATE PROCEDURE','CREATE SEQUENCE','CREATE SESSION','CREATE TABLE','CREATE TRIGGER','CREATE TYPE','CREATE VIEW')))This enabled me to bypass that check when creating the respository. I don't know if all these privileges are actually required by the unit testing repository or not, so maybe the above list can be reduced...

    Hi Sai Vineeth,
First of all, I appreciate your elaborate way of framing the question. That itself helps others to comment.
On the first two questions, I am sure you'll be able to follow the answers provided and take care of your concerns.
On your question 3), an additional piece of information that should bring smile to you
Whether the Test is to happen in DEV or QAS or whatever 'System Role' is dependent on the Test Plan.
So, if you have two distinct Test Plans, one for Unit Tests and the other for Integration Tests, which should be the case, as usual, you can certainly point the System Role to DEV or QAS as required.
Feel free to pose any other query as well.
    Best regards,
    Srini

  • Error using the test console of the Oracle Service Bus 11gR1

Hi I am facing a an issue while using the test console of the Oracle Service Bus 11gR1 .
Every time I try to execute a business service or a proxy service I end up getting the following message.
    Error Accessing Test Configuration
*"Test Console" service is not running. Contact administrator to start this service.*
In fact to add to my frustration I am unable to execute any of my proxy services from outside clients like SOAPUI as well.
Is anyone else facing this too ??
Also every time the server starts I can see some diagnostic error messages on my Eclipse console.

How can oracle let a release slip in with such a Major Issue.
Please can any one help or provide a work around atleast.

    Nitin

I guess till version 10gr3.1 you only needed to start one server and it allowed to access both admin and service bus console.Yes, in 11g as well you may access the admin and OSB console by just starting the admin server but in 11g OSB configuration gets deployed on OSB server (managed server) and test service also runs over this server.
Are you saying there is some other server I need to start just for running the test console ????Yes. Managed server osb_server1 needs to be started for deploying, testing and accessing OSB resources.
As If the OSB server was not running how can I check my published services, modify them and do all the bits and pieces after opening the open the service bus console but not just test them???You can modify and save your configuration without staring OSB server but if you will check in change centre then all the changes being done without starting OSB server will remain in partially activated state.
I have been using the service bus for 3 years and I have never faced any such issue. With each new release you may get new features and with a major release like 11g, architecture and functionality may change.
If it all there is some other server I need to start then whats the process to do so ??Open command prompt. Navigate to $Domain_Home/bin and run command
    startManagedWeblogic.cmd <nameOfManagedServer>
    for eg. -
    D:\OFMW11g\mw\user_projects\domains\ofmw_domain\bin>startManagedWebLogic.cmd osb_server1
Once this server is up and running, try using test console.

My 27" iMac will not boot in normal mode. The screen stays white. The computer will boot in safe mode. Could this be virus related or is it possibly an issue with my video card. Before this happened, my computer screen was flashing weird things and the computer would unexpectedly power down.

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return  three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Getting "Pool is disabled" error.  How do I enable the pool?

    Hi,
I'm running WebLogic 9.2.2, Solaris 9, with Oracle 10 database. I noticed I was no longer able to make connections to my data source. When I open my data source in the WL admin console, go to testing, select it, and click the "Test Data Source" button, I get this error ...
Test of NPSIM_DS_1 on server nps-db-ms-1 failed, reason:

So it says, "Pool NPSIM_DS_1 is disabled". But when I open my "Connection Pool" tab, I don't see anything that indicates enabled/disabled. How do I troubleshoot this further and "enable" my connection pool?

  • How do I deinstall then reinstall the EM repository for the iasconsole?

    Hi,
I can't for the life of me make my iasconsole for my application server start and looking at similar issues from other people I can see that deinstalling and reinstalling the EM repository might be a good thing to try. The problem is I can't find the steps to do this. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks
    Adam

    Hi,
The iasconsole simply won't start. It broke about a month ago after we installed a 10.2.0.4 database home, then upgraded the 10.1.0.5 infrastructure database to the 10.2.0.4 home. This is in Test, in Dev and Prod there have been no problems. An example of the messages from the Controlsrvc.log file are:

Most of the situations like this I've come across on the net they've tried to resolve it by deinstalling and reinstalling the EM - with mixed success.

  • How to CAC (Smart Card) enable the server within JDev

I need to know how to CAC (Smart Card) enable the server within JDev, or if it is even possible.

    Kamran,
you are definitely thinking in the right direction.
    1) Would I need to export or enter all the existing users of the system presently available through an internal database to the SSO Repository or there is a different way of getting the users to the OID when they first run the url or our Oracle Forms App?
You have a choice: pre-load (probably using LDIF) or create what I call a self-registration process. Pre-load will require the arduous task of gathering the CAC user CN's in advance. This is technically easy but logistically a nightmare.
I created a self-registration JSP which is invoked by a failure to lookup a user in OID. Registration involves requiring a user to enter valid database credentials, testing the credentials (by making a connection) and binding the database userid/password to the CAC identity.
    2) How would I get the CAC Certificate CN from the Browser or CAC Card so I can make the comparison to the OID CN?
When you configure the SSO for certificate authentication, the HTTP_Server will pass the SSL variables (which include the CAC certificate which was authenticated in the SSL handshake) to the sso/web application deployed in the OC4J_SECURITY container. You can install your own plug-in that the SSO will invoke where you can retrieve the authenticated certificate and get any of the information therein from Java.
I recommend you get very acquainted with the SSO Admin Guide (esp. Cert authentication chapter), as well as, the Forms Deployment Guide (esp. SSO chapter).
There is too much to fit here. Things would be a lot easier if Forms Server supported enterprise users for authentication to database. Forms apps are relegated to the whole business of RADs and such which gives you X.509 certificate (and thus CAC) authentication but is rather convoluted IMHO (password in the clear in the RAD, orclResourceViewer permission for Forms Server, userid/password login in the background) but that is a different discussion.
    Good Luck.
    regards,
    tt
