Enabling BitLocker makes BIOS POST very slow

With BitLocker enabled using the TPM of my Thinkpad X61T the BIOS POST time increases for 1 to 17 sec.
After the BIOS POST Win7 takes 15 Sec to start. So enabling BitLocker doubles my boot time.
Is this long boot time the expected behaviour with BitLocker and Thinkpads, or can it be omitted?
The positive: Windows itself does not feel slower with BitLocker encryption. HDTUNE does not measure a slowdown.
X61T, Bios 1.2.2, Window 7 Beta x64, 1400x1050, 4GB RAM, 1GB Turbo Memory, Intel X25-M SSD

Updating to BIOS 1.23 released 2009/04/27 did not help.
Installing Intel Matrix Storage driver 8.9.2.1002 released 2009/10/02 (offerd by the Win7 compatible version of System Update) did not help.
Is Lenovo planning to fix this problem?

  • Kt6v posts very slow with usb hub

Well I have been tinkering with this computer.
its kt6v mobo and i just updated the bios using live update.
I remembered i had a usb hub that i used to use on my old computer.
    its an internal/external hub.
but the problem is when the hub is plugged in the computer posts very very slowly..
even when i get into the bios config its slow(you press a button and you have to wait 10secs for response).
with the hub unpluged its fine.
its a powered usb hub(usb2.0) it was pluged into the back of the computer.
    computer specs
    2400 athlonXP(Infoview shows it as a 2800 semperon)
256mb ram ddr333(for some reason the 512 chip went missing)
    GeForce FX 5200
    PSU(unsure)
    linksys wireless-G(disabled)
does anyone know what might be causing this??
would tweaking the bios settings fix it? if yes how?

The only way to know for certain is to take the heatsink and fan assembly off of the cpu and check the first three digits in its OPN number.  AXD is an Athlon XP while SDA is a Sempron.  You can find the full info on this link.  Before you attempt this make certain that the ac cord is disconnected.
    http://www.thedigerati.us/info/amdcpuchart.html#xp
If you do this, you will need to clean off the old thermal grease or pad from the heatsink and cpu and apply a thin coating of new thermal grease on the center die of the cpu.  Also make certain that the step of the heatsink is located above the wide portion of the cpu socket when it is reassembled.

  • Why do i have two identical internal hard rive in my MAC? It makes my laptop very slow

My Mac book Pro is very slow since a few weeks. I decided to investigate. When i look in Disk Utility, i see two internal hard drive! The first one is almost full (18 Mo free on 800 Go). The second one is half full (this one is the one i see when i click on About this Mac, 400 Go free on 800 Go). I guess the first one is the one that make my computer so slow. Does anybody knows how this can happen ? What can i do for it ? It seems like the second one is a part of the first one.
    Thanks !

    OS X 10.10 Yosemite
If you see 2 Macintosh HDs   when you check  Disk Utility, that is normal on OS X 10.10.Yosemite.
It is the Core Storage and Volume Manager technology in action.
There is no Knowledge Base Article from Apple  about this yet.

I still don't understand what it is you are doing that could slow it
down that much. If you have lots of screen updates, particularly using
the value property on property nodes, then having the panel open will
run slower than with the panel closed, but being a dialog shouldn't
    affect it.
If you are using lots and lots of property nodes, reconsider. They are
    for UI only.
You might also want to use th
e profiler to determine what is taking so
long. Open the profiler before running your VIs, Click Start, then run
your VIs to completion. Then click stop and it will give you an idea of
which VIs are slow. Also, the timing details will tell you how much
time was spent in drawing the panel.

  • DNG Codec makes Vista Indexing very slow?

    Hi,
I recently installed the DNG codec to preview my photos in Windows and I let Vista Search index all my storage. It was taking weeks and the number of indexed files was barely moving. I wasn't sure what it was so I started excluding folders from the index one by one. Eventually I realized that it was the Pictures folder which contains roughly 60GB of mixed JPG and DNG photos. I uninstalled the DNG Codec and now indexing is finished, including the Pictures folder, several hours later.
Vista Home Premium, 32-bit, 4GB RAM, Core 2 Duo 2.66MHz.
    Regards,
    Pavel

    I've got:
    4GB memory
Page File (virtual memory) is 7326M
    2.4GHz P8600 Dual core processor
    105 GB available disk space
video card is a NVIDIA Quadro NVS 160M
Those stats should surpass the minimum requirements with flying colors.
I've just noticed that ever since I've got Windows Vista, any menial task of moving (cut & paste) a 100KB file from one folder to another folder on my local PC could take minutes instead of milliseconds. Unzipping items also takes a ridiculous amount of time. I was thinking this slow vista file management might be causing the slow Oracle install.
I was hoping someone else might have see this issue before and can tell me where the "go-faster" flag is located.
    Thanks!

  • When charging my iphone 4s with the wireless still on, it uses the bandwidth and makes my internet very slow.

When my iphone 4s is connected to my wi-fi and I charge it either through my computer or through the plug charger, my internet becomes slow.  For some reason it acts as if the iphone 4s is downloading something and that is making my internet slow.  What is the problem here?  One fix is that I have to turn off my wi-fi from my iphone 4s.  But I dont want to do that, because I obviously want to be connected to the internet when charging my phone.

    i had same issue.
    turned off icloud-storage & backup
    went fine again

Check for malware infection. The names of these files really indicate the system is infected.
Which version of Java client is installed? Especially older versions are very vulnerable against website or email based attacks.
Since malware infections are very different, detailed support can hardly be given via forums.

  • Report run very slow because some user accessing the same report

    Dear All,
I group my table into 3 tablespace And some reports, accessing different tablespace (more than 1 table space). and these report will always be run by 5 user in the same time. and make it run very slow. Is it going to make the report very slow ? Please advice
    Thanks in advance
    Widhi

    Hi,
i hope that may not be the actual problem..
if ur report processing includes relatively high
amount of calculations on tables..then the report
    processing can be very slow...
In that case try to create a table to store ur calculations
temporarily and try to use that table in the report..

  • Java 2D very slow with Windows XP

    Hi all!
I'm writing an isometric game engine using Java 2D API, in full-screen exclusive mode and using all the advantages of the new VolatileImage class. The engine is almost finished, I'm testing it putting some animated players on screen and showing the frame rate of the engine. Everything went right, frame rate was very high in Linux and Windows 98/Me. But when I try to run the engine on Windows XP I can only get 5 or 6 fps!!!! And I don't know why!! It seems that XP makes Java run very slow... at least when using Java2D...
Please, anyone knows why the performance is reduced??? Is there a new JRE release for Windows XP?? I'm using JDK 1.4.1.
    Thanks for your help.

If you're using the Fullscreen API, then you're using BufferStrategy, thus you shouldn't use VolatileImages, it does this for you in the background. You shouldn't create any buffers, simply use the one provided. I'm assuming your problem probably lies in transparency. I've made an isometric engine using the fullscreen API that has run with complete 60fps page flipping. I would assume your bottle-neck lies in:
Transparencys (These are very slow, there is a way to make a bitmask, much like you'd do in DirectX)
Dynamic Memory allocation/Alpha rendering in your animation loop. (You need to allocate ALL of the colors you're going to use, and avoid using an alpha component if you want to avoid the VM getting bogged down by the garbage collector because you're allocating 30 Color objects a second).
I made a Color object that was some what hacked together that has methods to allow you to access it's values for doing this kind of thing, allocating your scheme before hand is an easier approach.
The method that performs the page flipping is a BLOCKING method, so you should orient your drawing before it, and not assume it's simply placing a request, like repaint does.

  • Publish running very slow based on size?

Has anyone seen where the robohelp publisher runs very slow
if its a large project? I have two current projects. One is pretty
small to medium in size and during a publish runs at 125mb/sec
accross the network. My other project which is very large publishes
    around 15mb/sec accross the network.
Is there a known issue with large projects taking longer and
is there any work arounds like using ftp or setting different
options in robohelp to speed up the publishing?
I use webhelp Pro V5, for both projects. I have checked
during both seperate publishes to ensure the cpu and network
connections were not maxed and they are barely phased.
Any suggestions or help is welcome.

    Matt -
I have seen this, and it is frustrating.
From what I gather, the Publishing Wizard keeps track of the
files published, along with a checksum and date for each file.
Subsequent uploads will compare all of the files, and then only
upload those files that have changed. The more files, the longer
the list it becomes, and the longer it takes to check each file.
This makes for a very slow publishing process the first
time, but subsequent updates should move more quickly.
You do have other publishing options, ftp'ing, or using the
FrontPage upload - but these are transfer protocols designed for
uploading to a web server. Since you are on a network, you could
just copy the output to the network drive.

  • MSI P6N Diamond and very slow BIOS menus

I'm having problems with my new setup. My setup is as follows:
MSI P6N Diamond with 1.1 bios update
    2 x OCZ Platinum Revision 2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2P800R22GK
XION Supernova XON 600W Power Supply
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (not overclocked yet, having problems whenever I change settings)
EVGA  GeForce 8800GTS 640MB Video Card
I'm running Vista 32bit fine as far as I can tell, everything is pretty snappy and other programs are running fine, but the machine is very slow to post and running the bios menus is a painful process as it takes about 2-4 seconds to switch selections. I tried running the board with 1 stick of ram in slot 1, with slots 1 & 3 and all 4 and it made no difference. I had a USB card reader plugged in and then removing it seemed to make a difference for a while, the BIOS menus ran as I expected, very snappy. Also anytime I switch the CPU clock from automatic to manual the computer won't post and i have to reset the bios
Anyone have a clue what could be causing this slowness and my inability to overclock the cpu?

I will be getting the Q6600 in 1 week, :D.  The new G0 stepping as well :D. I'm excited.
Are you using XP or Vista? I have had no distortion or pops with my sound.  Although, from what I hear the drivers for XP or much more polished than those for Vista.  This is a Creative issue, and not an MSI issue.  Lots of people are having problems with Vista with the standalone Creative cards as well.
I overclocked my E6700 to about 3.5Ghz, and hit a temp wall based on my ambient temps.  I probably could have gone higher if it was cooler in the room that houses the computer.  Although, the temps have dropped dramatically after the AS5 has cured, probably could get it pushed up a bit higher.  Hopefully I don't have problems with it when the Q6600 comes in.
If you got the older B3 stepping version, it will run a bit hotter and will be much harder to OC to higher speeds because of this.  I've found the P6N Diamond to be very OC friendly and like all the options it gives.  The only thing I don't like is the adjustment of the Vcore lists the # above stock, instead of the absolute #. Sometimes the Vcore it auto assigns isn't 100% correct I've heard so it'd be nice to know what that auto value is.  The Vcore reading you can read in the monitor section fluctuates a hair in each direction of 1.3 for me when at stock, so I assume it was 1.3 stock.

  • X99S MPOWER Very slow to POST

Just built a system for a friend who supplied all the parts.
    X99S MPOWER
    Intel I7 CPU
    16Gb GSKILL RAM
    240Gb SSD
MSI GTX 970 GAMING Twin Frozr V 4GB

The machine takes an age to POST. I have to wait for up to one minute before the MSI splash screen appears. After then the machine boots to Windows without problems and is stable in use. NO overclocking settings have been set and the bare minimum of BIOS settings have been applied.
As the machine is starting I see some changing letters and numbers appear at the bottom right of the monitor.
Can anyone help diagnose this very slow POST behaviour? or is this a trait of this particular motherboard?
