Enabling DMS Metric ?

Guys,
This might not be the right forum for this thread but given the high volume i am sure someone would have a suggestion relating to the problem i am facing,
So basically i am struggling with enabling oracle built-in Dynamic monitoring system (DMS) metrics. As per the "OAS performance guide" setting up the system property of "-Doracle.dms.sensors=none|normal|heavy|all" (the default is normal) in data element under start-parameters should do the job, but i dont see any metric files getting created anywhere..is there anything i am missing ?
Any suggestions/comments as to what i could be doing wrong...
I am trying to use oracle build in implementation DMSMetricCollector to load balance between oc4j instances in a cluster using mod_oc4j...and thats why i came to the need of enabling the DMS Metrics..

Actually i did look at the monitoring tools. Now given that i would want to see the metrics in a clustered environment, Aggrespy wouldn't work as in the documentation which states "AggreSpy does not work as expected when using Oracle Application Server Clusters. When using a cluster, the Oracle HTTP Server mod_oc4j component load balances OC4J requests across Oracle Application Server instances. In this case, AggreSpy may report results for systems that are not the localhost (127.0.0.1).".
As for the dmstool (suggested for clustered environment), though it certainly looks handy but i was wondering if oracle provides a gui app/tool (like Aggrespy) where you get to see the entire metrics consolidated. ??
With dmstool it seems like, i would have to always follow two steps to reach the metrics value, 1) use dms-tool -list to location the actual reference or path (whatever u call it) like this
dmstool -list | grep /WEBs/processRequest.time
and based on the value returned u provide the exact reference i.e.
dmstool /eng-machine/OC4J:12502:6100/oc4j/default/WEBs/processRequest.time
pretty much 2 steps to drill down the actual metric value..

We need to monitor that state of the JDBC Connection Pool (Available conns, Max conns, etc.) by reading DMS, however we are struggling to find which is the right DMS metric associated to it?
We tried the table modplsql_DatabaseConnectionPool however it seems to be never loaded.

For example, use "min-connections" to specify how
many connections to pre-populate in the pool.Since when does "min-connections" pre-populate the pool?
According to my observations, there are no database connections established when OC4J starts up. Connections are only created when necessary. As a matter of fact, I still haven't seen anything in the behaviour of OC4J to indicate that it doesn't totally ignore the "min-connections" attribute.
[I have, on the other hand, seen that "max-connections" is taken into account by OC4J.]

How to monitor DMS metrics in EM?

How to monitor DMS metrics (in particular ADF-related metrics) in EM? It looks like they are supposed to be available in EM (FMW control), but I can't find them anywhere.

When I research with DB02 transaction code in BW, I encountered following tables having lot of log , please some body can help me, how to delete the following log data?
ARFCSDATA     ARFC Call Data (Callers)
BALDAT          Application Log: Log data
BSRWBSTORE     Storage for binary large objects (Excel)

Oracle DMS metrics

1. Are the CPU usage metrics ,that are available via the Enterprise Manager Console, exposed via the DMS servlet? or can it be interpreted using some existing DMS metric?
2. Is there a DMS table where I can see the heap memory usage for an oracleas instance(the one that we specify via the -Xms and -Xmx java options).
I had a look at the JVM table where the JVM stats for the various OC4J instances are listed. Here the values for the freeMemory and totalMemory are quite small like 4MB. Are these values for the entire OC4J instance or for a particular process.

Enable CF metrics logging

CF Metrics logging is useful for examining performance problems.

Since CF10 does not use JRun now changed to Tomcat, how would one enable something similar to CF Metrics logging?
I appreciate CF10 > Server Monitoring > Server Monitor is present tho for a system with Standard licence Server Monitor would not available.

The metrics logging in CF 9 and earlier was provided by JRun. However, tomcat does not provide this and the only option is to use its mbeans to get the required information. The cfstat utility that is shipped with CF 10 uses the mbeans API to get the same and you can use that.
We are also exploring if we can build something similar to metrics logging that was there in CF 9 and earlier.

If I use f:attribute, there is no exception, but also the attribute is not created. If I use f:attribute or af:atribute with a string value, it works OK.

DMStool displays the DMS metrics of the system dynamically. DMS will not have the DMS metrics for the component, if the component is NOT up and running. In your first case, there was no OC4J JVM up and running. Therefore, there was no metric related to OC4J including JVM. To verify this, you could issue the following command:
dmstool -t opmn_process
dmstool would list DMS metrics of the processes started by OPMN. You would see there is no JVM process started.
In your second case, OC4J finally started. So you saw the metrics for OC4J JVMs.
DMS obtains process information from OPMN. It takes some time for OC4Js to start up and register themselves with OPMN. This is why you noticed the delay.

Hi,
I was just going through the Dynamic Monitoring Service provided by Oracle9ias. I am having a few doubts.
Can I access the DMS Metrics from my application(e.g servlet)?If so, How? I need this since I want to display some of the DMS metrics from my application.
Is the javadoc available for the DMS API? Is there a detailed document that explains the usage of the DMS API.

Missing performance metrics on OEM GC

We have agents and OMS on 10.2.0.3. We configured performanace metrics as template and template applied for the targets. one of the target RAC database with 2 nodes, an agent on each node uploaded performance metrics until Mar 08th and after that the perfomance metrics shows not data available. These are the metrics related to
1. Database Services
2. System Response Time Per Call
3. Wait Bottlenecks
4. Waits by Wait Class
Collection schedule shows every 15 minutes, upload interval shows Every collection, Last upload shows Mar 8, 2008 5:21:50 AM.
./emctl upload agent works fine no issues.
./emctl status agent shows XML's uploaded.
we did clearstate agent, stop and start agent etc.. no change
No pending files in the upload directory on the target agent, no pending files on the recv (recieving) directory of the agent.
What else should have been the problem? How to get these metrics to upload properly and make it working. appreciate any help.

What version of Oracle have you in the target RAC databases?
For Oracle 9i you must to execute a workaround for enable this metrics

Configuring DMS (Dynamic Monitoring Service) on Oracle 9 IAS

I have 9ias configured for DMS monitoring, at least I thought I did. I can get DMS metrics via DMSTOOL on the local box for all tables but when I attempt to access remotely I get "FLEXMON Error: Detected Invalid Tablename JVM" and JVM is available on the localhost. All applicable configuration members have been updated using "Allow from localhost remotehost remotehost..etc.

Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database instance....

Currently i'm facing a big issue here.
I have install the Oracle 10g on Window 2003 SE.
And currently the Enterprise manager is not be able to conenct to the database and my database is still running.With my listener is up.
But from the Enterprise manager's it show that everythg is down.
and when i try to restart it,i ask for os id and password and dbuser and dbpassword.
frm the SQL plus,i can easily startup and shutdown the database.
So i would like to know i can rectify this problem.

Looking at the error message "The Network Adapter could not establish the connection" , It appears hostname and port may be incorrect. Review the targets.xml under E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\SAP_solman_SDB\emd and
emoms.properties under E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\SAP_solman_SDB\config folder to make sure host ( sap_solman) and port (1527) are correct.
As far as setting the environment variables goes, you can go to control panel -> system -> advanced -> environment variables and set the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID

Calling secured web service, cross domain security

Hey all,
I am trying to call a secured service, for which i need to enable cross domain security.
I have followed the steps described in
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/web.1111/e13707/domain.htm#i1176046
i.e. enabling trust between weblogic server domains.
The problem is: -
User authentication is working fine, but i am not able to invoke the operation.

I have configured a wallet with all the necessary certificates. Actually I have purchased a VeriSign trusted certificate and convert that into Oracle Wallet (p12) using openssl with appropriate password. And I'm calling UTL_HTTP.set_wallet('<path_to_wallet>','<pass_to_open_it>');
I have send my public key to them (web service company) and they need me to send my certificate with every request so that they can authenticate.
You are saying we don't have to write any code for TLS/SSL UTL_HTTP will take care of that, thats really good.
One more thing I want to mention here...
In Internet Explorer - When I am importing my certificate without my private key and trying to access web service I'm getting 404 page not found error.
But when I'm importing my certificate with the private key, I can see WSDL and all other methods offered by that web service.
I'm guessing Oracle Wallet that I'm creating with my certificate will store private key also. B'coz it is showing me User Certificate in Ready state.
ORA-00600 is not giving me proper location where I can find any error in my code.

Time zone problem in grid control

my management server (10g) is on windows 2000 and windows is running on time zone GMT+5
Iinstalled agent 10g on Red Hat Linux Advance Server 4 and during instalation it sucessfully detects the OMS running on windows. After installation, it doesnt start the agent.
I tried manually starting agent butfailed and in log file i found the following error
