Enabling/Installing IE10 in Windows 8.1

Hi
Hope everybody is doing well. I need to install IE10 on windows 8.1 as our web based software does not support IE11. As i turned off IE11 from Windows
Features mentioned below and tried to install IE10 from standalone installer it gives the message "IE did not finish installing, IE10 is already installed on this
system." Please guide how can i enable or install IE10 in Windows 8.1 easily.

Hi,
Windows 8.1 doesn't support IE 10, for your compatibility problem, first os all, you can try to open your site with Compatibility mode to test if it work.
If not, you can try to use IE 11 Enterprise mode to test if it works to your site.
To learn more about IE Enterprise mode, please refer to the link below for test:

  • IE10 on Windows 7: Spellcheck is broken if AppData is redirected to a UNC path

After installing the RTM version of IE10 for Windows 7 (10.0.9200.15521) on a couple of workstations here, I noticed during testing on the
IE testdrive site that the new spellcheck feature didn't work for any domain user, but worked fine for local users. I have narrowed down the cause to our use of Folder Redirection
    for the AppData directory.
Another symptom is that when I go to Manage Add-Ons >
Spelling Correction, the Enable spelling correction box initially shows as ticked. However, when I click on any individual language, this is what greets me:
For unaffected users, the box is ticked for every language, and the blank button on the right reads 'Set as default'. For affected users, the button is not only unlabelled as shown, but seems to have no functional effect. If I tick the box and click
Close, then go back in, it shows as unticked again.
The actual location that AppData is redirected to appears to have no effect on the problem, only that it is a UNC path. I've tried giving the user Full Control (and even exclusive permissions) to the folder with no effect, and it doesn't matter if the path
is a DFS path or not. I have also established that redirecting to local path on the workstation (e.g.
C:\TestAppData) does not cause the spellcheck to break, but redirecting to the
same location when referred to as a UNC path (e.g. \\localhost\c$\TestAppData)
    does cause the problem.
Folder Redirection is quite common in UK educational institutions as one method of keeping down the size of roaming profiles, but so far I've only been able to contact 1 other institution that is testing IE10 on Windows 7, probably due to it only recently
being released, and not yet being available on WSUS. However, they have reproduced the problem, reducing the likelihood that it's something specific to our setup. I'd be interested to hear reports from anyone who can (or cannot) reproduce this.
Who should I be contacting about this? We have Software Assurance as a last resort, but I'm loathe to use up one of our PSS entitlements for what seems like a straightforward, reproducible bug.

After further testing, I think I've narrowed down the problem to incorrect UNC path parsing by the MsSpellCheckingFacility.exe component. Full details are on the
    Connect site.
I have also found a workaround, which is to simply create an otherwise missing folder in the user's AppData, corresponding to the required dictionary language. Example: for a user language on en-US, create the folder
    %AppData%\Microsoft\Spelling\en-US
Once the folder for the appropriate language exists, IE10 will correctly populate it with the required spelling dictionary files, and spellchecking appears to work normally.
In a domain environment, this folder can be created quite easily via script or Group Policy Preferences.

  • TS3212 Unable to instal Itunes in Windows 7 for want of a DLL file / installer error

Can anyone help me in installing the latest itunes.  I have downloaded the setup file.  When I try to instal, installation fails forwant of a DLL file / error in installer package.  What should I do to successfully instal.
I have been using Itunes for so many years.  But recently I formatted my laptop and installed the new OS, Windows 7.  Previously I was using Windows XP, I did not have problem.
Is there any solution by enabling or disabling any of the service features under administrative tools in the control panel ?

Although you're getting a different error message, try the procedure from the following user tip with that one:

  • Trying to install cf10 on Windows 7, error Cannot configure IIS connector

Trying to do a brand new install of CF10 on Win 7.
As soon as I tell it to use all IIS websites, it bombs telling me to Ebable the required options under ASP.NET, CGI, ISAPI extensions.
Clearly IIS did not install correctly under Windows.
Tried uninstalling IIS, reinstalling. No dice.
Or is this indeed a CF10 problem?

    Hi,
Please ensure all of these IIS features are enabled:

  • Looking to run windows on my MBPro through Bootcamp or Parallels, but would like to use a downloaded Windows 7, is it possible to install without the Windows Disc?

Looking to run windows on my MBPro through Bootcamp or Parallels, but would like to use a downloaded Windows 7, is it possible to install without the Windows Disc?
Need to set up a workstation on my MBPro that will only run on Windows. Im willing to use Bootcamp or Parallels to see what works best. Need to get this set up this week to enable working from home on my MB - rural and hoping to buy Windows 7 online - am I able to get windows working through either bootcamp or Parallels without the actual Windows disc? Bootcamp set up guide calls for a disc.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
First, the answer to your question is yes, it IS possible to install Windows in Parallels without a disc, using an .iso image file.
Boot Camp since OS X 10.8 also installs Windows without a disc: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4889551?tstart=0
Parallels has complete documentation, series of forums, and a knowledgebase. You can also download the current release of Parallels 9 and try it for free for a few weeks before you decide to purchase it.
The Parallels Desktop for Mac product page: http://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/
The Desktop for Mac forums: http://forum.parallels.com/forumdisplay.php?58-Parallels-Desktop-for-Mac
    Documentation: http://www.parallels.com/support/desktop-virtualization/desktop/#c12970
The Knowledgebase for Desktop for Mac: http://kb.parallels.com
The primary difference between a Boot Camp installation and a Parallels installation is that in the Boot Camp installation, you're installing Windows into a separate partition on your internal mass storage device (hard drive or SSD) and then rebooting your Mac directly into Windows.
In Parallels, you're always running OS X on the Mac and Parallels is running a Windows virtual machine.
Not to get too technical here, but it is also possible for Parallels to run an installed Windows Boot Camp partition as a virtual machine. If you're evaluating system performance with a trial copy, that might be the way to go, because you only have to install Windows once on Boot Camp as a dual-boot system, then install Parallels Desktop and run the Boot Camp partition as the virtual machine.
There is a performance difference between the two, with the Boot Camp Windows installation being faster, but without the convenience of running both Mac and Windows applications simultaneously offered by Parallels. Sometimes that convenience outweighs a performance hit.
I can't give you more Mavericks and Parallels 9 specifics, because I'm currently running Windows 7 with Parallels 7 on OS X 10.8.5. Parallels 7 will not run on OS X 10.9 Mavericks.
I've been using Parallels (to run a few old rarely-used WIndows applications with features that would require a steep learning curve and major expense to purchase and learn a similar Mac app) occasionally since Parallels 3 and Windows XP. With each new release of OS X, each new release of Parallels, and each new Windows release, there are ALWAYS 'early adopter' bugs that get worked out over time.

  • [Forum FAQ] How to install and configure Windows Server Essentials Experience role on Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard via PowerShell locally and remotely

    As we all know,
the Windows Server Essentials Experience role is available in Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard and Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter. We can add the Windows Server
Essentials Experience role in Server Manager or via Windows PowerShell.
In this article, we introduce the steps to install and configure Windows
Server Essentials Experience role on Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard via PowerShell locally and remotely. For better analyze, we divide this article into two parts.
Before installing the Windows Server Essentials Experience Role, please use
    Get-WindowsFeature
PowerShell cmdlet to ensure the Windows Server Essentials Experience (ServerEssentialsRole) is available. (Figure 1)
    Figure 1.
Part 1: Install Windows Server Essentials Experience role locally
Add Windows Server Essentials Experience role
Run Windows PowerShell as administrator, then type
Add-WindowsFeature ServerEssentialsRole cmdlet to install Windows Server Essentials Experience role. (Figure 2)
    Figure 2.
Note: It is necessary to configure Windows Server Essentials Experience (Post-deployment Configuration). Otherwise, you will encounter following issue when opening Dashboard.
    (Figure 3)
    Figure 3.
      2. Configure Windows Server Essentials Experience role
    (1)  In an existing domain environment
Firstly, please join the Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard computer to the existing domain through the path:
    Control Panel\System\Change Settings\”Change…”\Member of. (Figure 4)
    Figure 4.
After that, please install Windows Server Essentials Experience role as original description. After installation completed, please use the following command to configure Windows
    Server Essentials:
    Start-WssConfigurationService –Credential <Your Credential>
    Note: The type of
Your Credential should be as: Domain-Name\Domain-User-Account.
You must be a member of the Enterprise Admin group and Domain Admin group in Active Directory when using the command above to configure Windows Server Essentials. (Figure 5)
    Figure 5.
Next, you can type the password for the domain account. (Figure 6)
    Figure 6.
After setting the credential, please type “Y” to continue to configure Windows Server Essentials. (Figure 7)
    Figure 7.
By the way, you can use
    Get-WssConfigurationStatus
    PowerShell cmdlet to
get the status of the configuration of Windows Server Essentials. Specify the
ShowProgress parameter to view a progress indicator. (Figure 8)
    Figure 8.
    (2) In a non-domain environment
Open PowerShell (Run as Administrator) on the Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard and type following PowerShell cmdlets: (Figure 9)
Start-WssConfigurationService -CompanyName "xxx" -DNSName "xxx" -NetBiosName "xxx" -ComputerName "xxx” –NewAdminCredential $cred
    Figure 9.
After you type the commands above and click Enter, you can create a new administrator credential. (Figure 10)
After creating the new administrator credential, please type “Y” to continue to configure Windows Server Essentials. (Figure 11)
After a reboot, all the configurations will be completed and you can open the Windows Server Essentials Dashboard without any errors. (Figure 12)
    Figure 12.

Part 2: Install and configure Windows Server Essentials Experience role remotely
    In an existing domain environment
In an existing domain environment, please use following command to provide credential and then add Server Essentials Role: (Figure 13)
    Add-WindowsFeature -Name ServerEssentialsRole
    -ComputerName xxx -Credential DomainName\DomainAccount
    Figure 13.
After you enter the credential, it will start install Windows Server Essentials role on your computer. (Figure 14)
    Figure 14.
After the installation completes, it will return the result as below:
    Figure 15.
    Next, please use the
    Enter-PSSession
cmdlet and provide the correct credential to start an interactive session with a remote computer. You can use the commands below:
    Enter-PSSession –ComputerName
    xxx –Credential DomainName\DomainAccount (Figure 16)
    Figure 16.
Then, please configure Server Essentials Role via
Add-WssConfigurationService cmdlet and it also needs to provide correct credential. (Figure 17)
    Figure 17.
After your credential is accepted, it will update and prepare your server. (Figure 18)
    Figure 18.
After that, please type “Y” to continue to configure Windows Server Essentials. (Figure 19)
    Figure 19.
    2. In a non-domain environment
In my test environment, I set up two computers running Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard and use Server1 as a target computer. The IP addresses for the two computers are as
    below:
    Sevrer1: 192.168.1.54
    Server2: 192.168.1.53
    Run
    Enable-PSRemoting –Force on Server1. (Figure 20)
    Figure 20.
Since there is no existing domain, it is necessary to add the target computer (Server1) to a TrustedHosts list (maintained by WinRM) on Server 2. We can use following command
    to
    add the TrustedHosts entry:
    Set-Item WSMan:\localhost\Client\TrustedHosts IP-Address
    (Figure 21)
    Figure 21.
    Next, we can use
    Enter-PSSession
cmdlet and provide the correct credential to start an interactive session with the remote computer. (Figure 22)
    Figure 22.
After that, you can install Windows Server Essentials Experience Role remotely via Add-WindowsFeature ServerEssentialsRole cmdlet. (Figure 23)
    Figure 23.
From figure 24, we can see that the installation is completed.
    Figure 24.
    Then you can use
Start-WssConfigurationService cmdlet to configure Essentials Role and follow the steps in the first part (configure Windows Server Essentials Experience in a non-domain environment) as the steps would be the same.
The figure below shows the status of Windows Server Essentials.
    Figure
    25.
Finally, we have successfully configured Windows Server Essentials on Server1. (Figure 26)
    Figure 26.

  • Trouble installing CS4 in Windows 7 64-bit

Has anybody else had trouble installing CS4 into Windows 7 Pro 64-bit?  I had this suite installed in XP (32-bit) and it worked just fine, but it will not install on my new computer.  The first time I tried, it got partway in (past the serial number), and then everything locked up.  I had to restart the machine twice just to make it let go of the CD!
Someone on a forum suggested  copying the disks to the hard drive and installing from there, but this did not work any better, the installation simply fails immediately, and I get an error code 1605.  I tried it with the firewall off, and with anti-virus disabled, and I never leave User Account Control enabled.  What is going on?

  • Outlook 2010 won't open after installing icloud for windows

    Hi,
Installed icloud for windows at work this morning after moving my MM account to icloud at home on my MBP.
Installed ok but after ticking the mail, contacts, calendar and bookmark boxes on icloud for windows Outlook 2010 starts but won't open and stays on the "Processing..." for a long time before I close it.
Also the icloud for windows control panel won't reopen except the time it opens after installation. I have tried removing it and rebooting but after it's installed, if you close the control panel it won't reopen although it's still running in Task Manager. Closing it in Task Manager and restarting doesn't make a difference.
Currently I removed, rebooted and reinstalled and only have the bookmarks ticked and outlook works ok but the control panel still won't reopen.
I am on a exchange server so don't know if this is part of the problem. Not real worried about mail but would like calendars working again.
Very thankful for any help you can offer.

I had the same problem after successfully moving from MobileMe to iCloud yesterday on my PC, ipad and iphone.
Today I couldn't open Outlook 2010. An Outlook dialogue box for my MobileMe email account kept asking for the email password, and although I put the password in, it kept re-appearing.
I turned off Norton spam temporarily, because I noticed Outlook was stuck processing the Norton plug ins at opening, and managed to open Outlook but the programme crashed every time I tried to access my email account settings (I thought I would try to delete the MobileMe email account).
I then opened the Control Panel for iCloud and unchecked the Mail with Outlook box, which has enabled Outlook to work again. The @me.com email account was gone when I checked the email accounts. I never needed to use the @me.com email account anyway.
How frustrating and such a waste of my time.
Does anyone know what difference it makes if the MobileMe/iCloud email is not connected to Outlook? Does it really make any difference when you have your email accounts in the iPad and iPhone anyway?

  • How to create an install medium of Windows 8 with custom programs (like an OEM install)

    Hello all,
I am interested in setting up a small business of making PCs for people around my area, and was curious if there was any way I could install Windows 8.1 on those computers with custom programs (i.e. Browsers, Anti-virus, etc.), but not have to create a user
account to do so? I want people to get these computers and go through the regular setup account process when they turn them on for the first time, just like with any computer from a regular OEM. Basically, I am trying to create my own OEM instillations of
    Windows.
Thanks for any help, and let me know if I need to clarify anything.
    Graham

    Hi,
Andreas is right, we have many ways to deploy Windows 8.1 like OEM.
You can also try the ADK:
Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (Windows ADK) for Windows 8.1
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-hk/download/details.aspx?id=39982
The Windows ADK enables two key scenarios: Windows deployment and Windows assessment.
Windows Deployment is for OEMs and IT professionals who customize and automate the large-scale installation of Windows on a factory floor or across an organization.

  • View PDF in IE10 Browser (windows 8)

Is there a way to click a link for a pdf and view it in a new tab on the browser?  Within windows 7 it worked fine, but I am not finding how to do it in windows 8, either the new metro browser or the desktop browser. It will only open PDFs in Adobe Reader or Microsoft Reader.

In metro mode, IE10 on Windows 8 always runs with Enhanced Protected Mode enabled, and plugins like Adobe Reader is not compatible with Enhanced Protected Mode.  That's why your PDF file will be opened in your default PDF viewer.  In desktop mode, Enhanced Protected Mode is off by default in IE10, so you should be able to view the PDF file inside the browser.

  • How to restore "Always ignore" selection pressed on Low IL compat / EPM mode question in IE10 on Windows 7 x64?

How to restore "Always ignore" selection pressed on Low IL compat mode / EPM question in IE10 on Windows 7 x64?
In a previous question I asked where the Whitelist is and how to modify it but now I have clients that seem to gotten stuck after pressing "Always ignore" and then the question to run outside EPM does not come up anymore and also the Whitelist
    stops working.
I need to get the "Question" back so the user can select to disable EPM on a per site basis (and to re-enable the Whitelist already set by login script).

    same as the ActiveXFiltering sign
    a "gray" circle
So it's not the same.  ActiveXFiltering is definitely blue.  And there would be another indicator in the Address bar.
still hoping that Microsoft And Adobe solves this BUG. It has to be one of the most common cases of all when it comes to an
    external viewer embedded in IE11.
You have just reminded me of another closely related case I have to test when I get to a W7sp1 Pro X64 system I have intermittent access to
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie11-windows_7/videos-still-will-not-play-in-ie-11-you-force-us/5b0b6d45-0c80-411e-adc3-ca90e194539a?page=2
So the common factors are embedded media, IE11 and W7sp1.  In the case of the video though I'm not sure where W8.1 is getting its control--seems not to be from Flash support and not something that is controllable by Manage Add-ons.  But I
doubt that it really matters which control it is; the type of it probably matters more.
In case it gets us somewhere diagnosing your case, can you try that example too please?

  • Installing IE10 thru batchfile / gpo

I am trying to deploy IE10. Made a .msi file with IEAK10. Integrated the prerequisites in the package. However installation is not succeeding..
On another section of the newsgroups i have already posted questions but still have no anser maybe the scripting guys can help me out.
What i have made a batchfile to install the prerequisites:
    @ECHO OFF
    sc config wuauserv start= auto
    net start wuauserv
    SETLOCAL ENABLEEXTENSIONS
    SETLOCAL ENABLEDELAYEDEXPANSION
    FOR /R "%~dp0" %%A IN (*-KB*.MSU) DO (CALL :SUB %%~nA
    ECHO INSTALLING KB!KB_number!
    TIMEOUT /t 3 >NUL
    C:\Windows\System32\wusa "%%A" /quiet /norestart)
    sc config wuauserv start= disabled
    net stop wuauserv
ECHO == Press any key to restart ==&PAUSE>NUL
    shutdown.exe /r /t 0
    GOTO :EOF
    :SUB
    SET "KB_number=%*"
    FOR /F "DELIMS=-" %%B IN ("%KB_number:*-KB=%") DO SET "KB_number=%%B"
The batchfile is in the same folder as the MSU files are. They running and when the update service goes on are installing. SOmetimes they don't. They run but are not installed.
Second i run another batchfile to install IE10 hte msi package made with IEAK10:
    @ECHO OFF
    sc config wuauserv start= auto
    net start wuauserv
    msiexec /i "\\sharename\ie10\IE10-Setup-Full.msi" /qn /l c:\temp\Logfile.log
echo Internet Explorer 10 is geinstalleerd.
    sc config wuauserv start= disabled
    net stop wuauserv
    exit
IE10 is not installed after i start the batchfile as a administrator. I have succeeded once on a client to install the updates and then the msi file directly. But the most time the package is finished very quickly. When looking in the iemain.log you can
see it is starting IE10 install and says: IE10 configured sucessfully. But i do not want to configure IE10 but install it....
What is wrong in above scripts? Can this be done more efficiently? If it is working manually i want to execute the batchfile thru GPO..
    freddie

You would do better by posting in the IEAK forum.  They can show you how to build an installer that is a roll up of all of the prerequisites whcih is the correct way to do this.  You are approaching it the hard way and will have nothing but headaches.
Install and use WSUS.  It is perfect for secure environments and eliminates all of this.  You only need to download the updates to a removable drive outside of the secure area and bring it to the protected systems and copy to WSUS.  WSUS will
update all protected systems with no need for an Internet connection.
If you are just superstitiously refusing to use Window Update because of some perceived compatibility issues then you are kind of on your own.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Install IE10 and required security patches with WSUS with only 1 or 2 reboots

We are planning to deploy IE 10 with WSUS.  Currently, it takes 1 reboot to apply IE 10 and 2 subsequent reboots to apply all the identified security patches for IE 10 via WSUS.  We are under close scrutiny to limit the number of times that computers
must be rebooted to apply patches so that we don't impede our business function.
Is there anyway to deploy IE 10 and all required IE 10 security patches with WSUS with only a single or 2 reboots?  As I understand WSUS already "packages" or "layers" patches in a manner to limit the number of reboots and that
various patches must be installed only after pre-requisite patches are identified as installed.
We are rolling out to a couple thousand machines and want to make the business impact as little as possible.
    Any help would be appreciated.

and 2 subsequent reboots to apply all the identified security patches for IE 10 via WSUS.
I find this unusual. Exactly how did you determine this to be the case. Which updates are you actually deploying to an IE10 environment?
My investigation identifies that the only two updates are applicable to an IE10 (on Windows 7) environment. They are MS14-011 (KB290920), released Feb 2014,  and MS14-056 (KB2987107), released Oct 2014. Since these two updates *CAN* be installed
concurrently, at worst these two updates installed concurrently would only trigger one reboot -- assuming they trigger a reboot at all.

SAPinst is having problems starting up.
Please post the sapinst.log file from C:\Program Files\sapinst_dir
Make sure you do the following.
    1.) Turn off Windows Firewall
    2.) Turn off UAC (http://www.petri.co.il/disable_uac_in_windows_vista.htm)
    3.) Install right version of JRE/JDK (1.4.2 Update 29)
4.) Set the correct User Environment Variables (JAVA_HOME, SAPSYSTEMNAME)
5.) Delete all SAP folders/contents in TEMP folder of your user profile (C:/Users/ULRICH~1.HNP/AppData/Local/Temp/.....).
5.) Delete C:\Program Files\sapinst_dir\ folder.  This will be recreated when SAPinst starts again.
Give this a shot and see what happens.
