Enabling Journal approval in 11.5.10.2

Hi all,
We have to enable journal approval in Oracle General Ledger on 11.5.10.2 .Can anyone suggest the steps for implementing this process.
Regards,
Sushank Vashishtha

Hi Mujeeb,
To enable Journal approval you need to do the following:
1)In your set of books journal approval should be enabled
2)Define employees(in GL ,in case you are using HRMS you need to define there) and their supervisors
3)Go to Journal Source form and check the box "requires approval"
4)In profile options set "Allow Preparer Approval" to yes
5)In profile options set "Find Approver method" to the appropriate value for your setup
6)Define Authorisation limit in your GL setup
Now Journal approval is ready to be used!!!

Sushank

  • Enabling Journals in a Model in SAP BPC 10.0 MS

    Hi,
Where does one enable journals functionality in SAP BPC 10.0 MS?
    Here's the background:
I created a new Environment from EnvironmentShell
Worked on dimensions, member sheets etc. in the Consolidation Model
In the SAP Web Administration, Consolidation Monitor, I get the error Initialization Failed when clicking on the Journal item in the TreeView on the left. Clicking on the See Details, I get the error JOURNAL_NOT_ENABLED.
In the Planning and Consolidation Administration Client, I get a similar error when clicking on Define Journal Validation Rules or Define Journal Translation Rules. (Journal in not enabled in Consolidation)
I then thought I would be clever and modified the column 'Journal' in the table dbo.tblApp by putting a '1' there.
Refreshing the Planning and Consolidation Administration Client, I see that for the Consolidation Model, the Journals are specified as 'in use'. However, returning to the SAP Web Administration and clicking on the Journal option, the error I now get is 'Invalid object name dbo.jrnAddedItems', probably because my backdoor hack circumvented some code.
Where does one enable journals in a Model on the MS 10.0 platform? For the life of me, I can't find it. This despite much searching. Clearly I am missing something obvious.
    Kind Regards
    Nick

    Hi Arnold,
Thanks. Yip, that's it. (I knew I was missing something remarkably obvious - it's just that I could not find it for some strange reason.)
    Again, many thanks.
    Kind Regards

  • GL Journal approval- Send notification to multiple approver

    Hello
I want to send GL journal approval notification to multiple approver, once any of the approver approves the journal it should be removed from worklist of all approver. How can we acheive this?
    Pls help
    Thanks
    Avalon

    Hi
What i am sure of is that you can have specific groups for your journal approval and each of the groups can have specific approvers.
When i say the above line, i mean that you can have groups like Treasury, Finance and Payroll and each of them have their desiganated approvers.
Then the level of journal preparer who can also fall to a specific group.
Once the journal preparer belonging to a specific group prepares a journal, it will route to the journal approver belonging to the specific group.
I am not sure about whether you can create approval groups and also if you send the journal for approver to multiple approver, than how the other approver will come to know that the journal is approved or rejected or whether has the other person taken any action - it will create dependencies between the 2 person and hence might create confusion.
So i am not sure about the resolution for your question.
But if the approach suggested by me matches your requirement, i can forward you the document which contains the step you need to do to achieve the functionality,
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Help! i have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and I want to download os x Mavericks and it says I have to enable journaling or reformat my disk??

    Help!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You just need to enable journaling.
To do it, open Disk Utility (in /Applications/Utilities) and choose your OS X partition (in most cases, "Macintosh HD") in the Disk Utility sidebar. Then, in the Disk Utility toolbar, you can find an option called "Enable journaling", so press it.
Finally, run the Mavericks installer again and follow the steps

  • Can't Enable Journaling

So, Im trying to Install windows Vista on my new Macbook pro, When I attempted to install it through bootcamp it said I need to "Enable Journaling" However when I open my Disc Utility I can't click on the option to enable journaling. Its unselectable.
Quick question, would enabling journaling cause me to loose data?

    Hi nonfikshun,
1/ You should post what Mac you're using - will help with helping you...
    2/ Windows 6 doesn't exist - you meant win 7?
3/ Did you just try to restart the computer? (and see if it might work) sometime it gets fixed by itself...
4/ Try to start from (Mac OS) install DVD, choose your language, go to Menu Bar (on top), find/choose 'Disk Utilities', choose Mac HD, 'Repair Disk', 'Repair disk Permissions'.
(You can also repair your windows partition with 'Disk Utilities' - I had done it MANY times {without any problems afterwards} - but it's NOT generally recomended).

  • Do I need to repair after enabling journaling on MBP with software update?

My new 17" 2.4GHz MacBook Pro for some reason came without journaling turned on. Now the new MacBook Pro Software Update 1.0 wants to enable journaling, but the instructions says I need to do a disk repair afterwards booting from the OS X DVD. Unfortunately I don't have the DVD with me as I'm on a long trip.
Do I really need to do the repair afterwards? Could I just as well enable journaling from Disk Utility without running the software update? Or should I wait until I get back? I've had some stability issues with the MBP and therefore want to enable journaling to see if that makes things more stable.

Actually... I don't believe you "have" to run disk repair afterwards. The info posted by Apple states "Note: After MacBook, MacBook Pro Software Update 1.0 has been installed, the Macintosh startup volume will have journaling enabled.":
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306442
I believe the idea behind running the disk repair is just precautionary. I have updated a MacBook and three MacBook Pros and ran the disk repair utility from the install disks. The utility did not find any issues with any of the four machines I ran the update on. If you don't have access to your install DVD now... just run it when you get back home. To be honest... I expect the VAST majority of users out there will just install the update and never go through the step of going through a disk repair from the install DVD.

  • Trying to install Lion. says this disk is not enabled (journaled) - but when I look at the drive it actually is os extended journaled - Stuck! Have tried repair disk permissions and still no luck

trying to install Lion. says this disk is not enabled (journaled) - but when I look at the drive it actually is os extended journaled - Stuck! Have tried repair disk permissions and still no luck - any thoughts? Have spent two weeks trying to get apple support and itunes to help me get lion after a hard drive fail and now they are closed and I really just want to get moving!

Are you installing OS X Lion over an existing installation of Snow Leopard, or are you reinstalling?
First be sure you have everything on your system backed up. Then reboot with the Command-R keys held to get to the OS X Lion recovery volume. In here, select Disk Utility and use the First Aid tab in here to run a verification on your boot drive. If there are any errors, fix them and then try the installation again.
The next step would be to format the drive, so with your backup secured, use Disk Utility's Erase tab to re-format the drive to Mac OS X Extended (journaled), and then quit Disk Utilty and attempt the installation again.

  • Budget Journal Approval Workflow

I am trying to use the seeded Journal Approval workflow for budget journals. I know that this workflow works by journal batch - that is, each batch is sent into a different workflow approval process.
Now, my users create budget journals that hit different periods, and each of these journals is being created as a different batch. However, I need these journals to go into one single approval, not one approval for each batch. Is there any way to do this?
    Thanks

You need to make sure you read the documentation provided by the GL team on this workflow to make sure the changes you make to the workflow are allowable. Also make sure you read the section on Oracle Support Policy for Predefined Workflows, Events, and Subscriptions in the Workflow Guide.
Technically speaking, you could have a master approval workflow, which is run, and when complete after all approvals have gone through, issues a complete activity command to the individual journal batch workflows to complete them.

  • Error Enabling Journaling with diskutil enableJournal diskXsX

I have few large backup volumes built specifically as HFS+ with Journaling disabled but now I notice problems where we have to wait very long time for hfs_fsck to complete its checkup and have decided to go back and enable journaling but keep getting errors. Here is more detail:
    After I ran:
    sudo fsck_hfs /dev/disk14s3
And it completed without problem then I ran:
    sudo diskutil enableJournal disk14s3
    Which gives me following error:
An error occured journaling the filesystem
    Checking volume info it shows:
    File System: HFS+
    Owners: Enabled
    Partition Type: Apple_HFS
    Bootable: Is bootable
    Media Type: Generic
    Total Size: 9.2 TB
    Free Space: 548.3 GB
    Read Only: No
    Ejectable: Yes
I have unmounted and mounted this volume without problem and have tried different variations of "diskutil enableJournal xxx" but everytime I get same error. I've also "Disk Utility" Enable Journaling option with no success and have tried diskutil with "sudo -s" option and tried "diskutil disableJournal xxx" and it shows:
Journaling was already disabled on the volume
I have another similar volume that has 2 TB available space and am getting same error not enabling journaling. First volume has around 85,000 files and second one close to 800,000.
    Appreciate any input?

I'm able to enable journaling on all other volumes under 2TB beside those large ones (9TB). I've tried "mount_hfs -j -c /dev/disk13s3 /Volumes/BadJournal" and when I ran "diskutil info disk13s3" it shows File System is "HFS+ Journaled" which shouldn't be the case and after I ran "disktool -r disk13s3" it reverted back and showed HFS+ only. I've also ran multiple hfs_fsck, diskutil repairDisk, and reboot which don't show any problem and still not able to enable journaling.
Could this be a limitation of diskutil not able to enableJournal for 9TB volumes or volumes with large number of files?
    Appreciate any help

  • Trouble enabling journaling on volume

    Hi
I'm trying to enable journaling on a volume, but get the following error :
An error occurred journaling the file system: The underlying task reported failure on exit (-69860)
    What to do next ?
    Best regards
    Henrik Schack

What I meant was is it the start up drive? If it is, that could be the problem. You may need to boot into another volume such as a clone, and use its Disk Utility to reset the journaling whilst it is not being the booted volume.  But in case anything were to go wrong I would backup the volume first, in order to recover if some accident occurs.
You may also like to wait for a reply from someone more knowlegdable who can give you more definte guidance.

  • Enabling journaling / Lion

Lion install says I need to enable journaling on my HD, but when I go into Disk Utility, HD shows already journaled and the enable journaling button is greyed out. Ideas?

here is the circular loop we're in:
Bootcamp assistant thinks we need to enable journaling.  Won't let us get past this screen otherwise.
Ok so we then go to Disk Utility to enable journaling like a good compliant user...
no matter which disk image or partition we select, they are both enabled for journaling.
Or the greyed-out button seems to infer.  However the button is unresponsive.
Thus we're stuck in a loop.
    and
Any thoughts on how to hack bootcamp assistant, or otherwise remove the partition?
    thx

  • Time Machine- Troubleshoot for enabling Journaling

Ok so I have a macbook pro and I have a 500 GB Lacie ext HD that I store everything on.
I just bought a new Western Digital 1TB that I wish use for backups with Time Machine.
I want to be able to back up everything from my mac HD and the lacie onto the 1TB with Time Machine.
Unfortunately when I go to Time Machine options it will not allow me to remove it from the "do not backup list" as it is grayed out.
From what I have found out, Time machine will only back up Mac OS Extended (Journaled)- is this true?
I realized disk utility says the Lacie is formatted as a MS-DOS (FAT32).
Therefore I verified the Lacie and went to select the enable journaling BUT it is grayed out.
Am I going to have to erase and re-format?
Can anyone shed any light on this?
    Thanks

Time Machine won't backup the data from that drive because it's not formatted correctly.
From item #2 in the FAQ at the top of the forum http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1964018
"Time Machine can back up from any internal or directly attached drive/partition formatted Mac OSX Extended. It will back-up your entire system (OSX, configuration, applications, user data, settings, preferences ... "the works," unless you specifically exclude things (see items 10 and 11 for info on exclusions). It also won't back up a disk/partition that contains TM backups.
In fact, by default, it will back up any such drive/partition (except the disk/partition where it's putting backups), unless you specifically exclude them."
Do you need to use the 500GB drive with a PC? That's the one that needs to be reformatted.

    Hi
Which SRM version are you using ?
    Please go through this ->
The report  RSWUWFMLEC is used to send out emails to approvers. In case of line item based approval each approver should see the line items he is responsible for.
However, he does not see any line items of the shopping cart or sees items he's not assigned to.
Note 1133122 RSWUWFMLEC: Sometimes some Emails are missing
Note 903724 - RSWUWFMLEC sends email with wrong or without any line items
Note 983693 RSWUWFMLEC repeatedly sends mails
Note 909863 RSWUWFMLEC - unexpected, incorrect recipients
Note 1044096 RSWUWFMLEC: Wrong Emails and/or Bad Performance
Note 1032232 RSWUWFMLEC: Mails are delayed
Note 967343 RSWUWFMLEC: One E-mail per User - E-mails not sent
Note 933592 RSWUWFMLEC sends mails to excluded approvers
Note 858091 program RSWUWFMLEC sends email with all line items
Hope this will help. Do let me know.
