Enabling permission in obiee bi publisher 11g

Hello All,
I've issue with obiee bi publisher 11g permission folder in task pane. It always disable even it enable in analytics bu disable
in bi publisher. How can to enable this permission folder.

I've used add_months against oracle databases without any problem
Sadly this publisher sql editor is not taking the same functions as a regular sql + command line :(

HELP --------- BI publisher 11g & OBIEE schema --------

Hi,
I am trying to create a report in BI Publisher 11g using the OBIEE schema.
I have created a column like, FILTER(fact using dim between 0 and *:parameter1* ).
I have associate the parameter list to the parameter1.
But When I am running this report with a value for the parameter1, am getting an error like - Data type 25 not supported.
Any alternatives, please suggest.

Ideas for really complex OBIEE / BI Publisher report

Hi,
I've rolled out a relatively complicated BI Publisher report at a client who is mostly an OBIEE shop. We'd like to add functionality, but I'm unsure of the best way to do this. I thought I'd just jot down the requirements, and see if anyone has a really slick, sophisticated, easy and clean way to do this (because I haven't thought of any).
1. Report must be "pixel perfect", thus why I'm using BI publisher
2. Report combines data from multiple OBIEE queries together. There is no way to simplify this to a single query (right now report requires 6 or 7 queries to get data for all the different sections on it)
3. End users need to be able to select data very flexibly. i.e. Searching by project IDs, finding project descriptions that contain certain words, finding projects belong to all contracts managed by a certain person, etc. Because of this I think I'm limited to using OBIEE dashboards - BI publisher lists of values just aren't flexible enough
4. Currently, there are 8 different "flavors" of the report. This is currently implemented as 8 different BI Publisher templates on a single report / set of queries. For example, users can choose to run either a detail (includes individual transactions) or summary report (no individual transactions listed). They can pick either Life to Date or Year to Date formats, and they can pick "cost only" or "cost plus revenue". Right now, I have a single set of queries in BI publisher - but that's inefficient. If a user wishes to run a Year to Date summary cost only report - the queries are still also pulling back the Life to date numbers and revenue numbers - even though the template won't show them. This is both good and bad...good from a standpoint that if they switch templates the queries don't need to be rerun. But bad because if they only need one template, I'm running a lot of unnecessary queries. Not sure if I want to change this or not.
5. As a new requirement, users would like to be able to select multiple contracts, projects, and/or activities and run a "rollup" report that summarizes whatever was selected. Currently users can pick 1 and only 1 project at a time. But we'd like them to be able to select 5 projects (for instance) and run a "rollup" report. Or maybe pick a project, and then only run a report for 20 of the 30 activities underneath that project.
Right now I've implemented the report as a BI Publisher report that is passed a parameter for the (single) Project ID and a fiscal month, and then runs the required 6 or so queries directly against the OBIEE server. The only way I can think of meeting requirement #5 though would be to actually use answers results sets, filtered on the dashboard prompts. That would allow the ability to select multiple projects, multiple activities, etc and report the rollup amounts in a report.
Can anyone think of a "slicker" way to do this? Having a dashboard page with lots of "hidden" sections for individual answers queries (so end users don't see them) is kinda clunky.
p.s. Will BI Publisher 11g offer any other alternatives?

Hi Scott,
In your BIP report you'll need to create a separate "Data Set" for each Answer. Then all you need to do is click on "Data Model" and select "Concatenated SQL Data Source" as the Main Data Set. This will combine the results into a single xml result set.

OAM 11g reports with BI publisher 11g

Hi Guys,
I am facing issue while configuring the reports in BI Publisher for 11g while generating report i am getting error
oracle.xdo.XDOException: oracle.xdo.XDOException: oracle.xdo.XDOException: Could not get data source connection for: Audit
i will list down the steps
1. Created a audit database using RCU
2.Created a jdbd data source in weblogic
3. Attach this data source to Audit store in Enterprise manager.
4.deploy the reports in BI publisher
5. created a jdbc data source to point to audit database.
6.Attach this datasource to data modal and then to report. Now when i run the report i am getting this error

Basically, even if you have created the datasource to the XX_IAU schema, you still need to make sure that you enable the audit on the OAM side and that you configure the right filters for the audited operations.

BI PUBLISHER 11G : Automatic Filtering Doubt

Hello.
I have one pivot table with same data and one data table with other data from different dataset. Both dataset are joined.
What i want to do is when i run the report the data from pivot table is showed and the data from data table is not showed until i click in one row in the pivot table.Actually the data from both tables are showed and i want by default only to show the pivor table data.
Other problem is when i have one line in pivot table without matches in data table i recieve this error message : "Error Ocurred" .
Someone have an ideia how to fix this 2 problem?
I'am using the last version of Bi publisher 11g.

From reading your problem description, it sounds like you are working with BI Publisher that you have installed as part of OBIEE. Is that correct?
I also think that you have built the charts in BI Publisher, not Answers and have set up the filters using BI Publisher, not Answers. Is that correct?
The screen shots both look to be from BI Publisher.
Have you used Answers at all in constructing this report?
If not then I think that the best place for your question to be answered is in the BI Publisher sub-space. We can move your question there if you would like.
One final question, is OBIEE the data source for the report?

Not able to view any report in BI Publisher 11g

Hello All
I have installed BI Publisher 11g in Intel Solaris 10. I started of from the scratch, created a Data Model, then created a Report. but now I am not able to view the report. Upon clicking the report name or Open it logs me out.
I am logged in as user, weblogic the default user created while installation.

Hi Rony,
You may have created the report initially with Web Layout only - therefore there will no paper layout.
To 'get' the paper layout back, select your Report module name from the Builder and then select Tools-->Report Wizard. Select 'Create both web and Paper Layout' and then go through the various wizard steps.

EPMMaster.rpd Fusion Pack migration from OBIEE 10g to 11g

We have successfully installed OBIEE 10g and 11g on Windows 2008 32bit servers. On the 10g Installation, we have applied the Fusion Pack EPMMaster RPD file and it connects successfully to our EPM warehouse. We want to migrate the Fusion pack to 11g which is also setup on the same platform. Per the instructions in the documentation, we have copied the files (RPD file and Webcat folder) to the 11g server. We run the UA.bat file and it proceeds to start copying the files over fom the RPD and WebCatalog to the new system. It completes this process, but then hangs on starting the Oracle BI server - it never gets beyond that.
We will be purchasing the EPMMaster RPD and know it is not available yet for 11g – however we’re trying to get ahead of the curve a bit and manually fix the items in the presentation layer that will not render correctly in 11g

One thing that I noticed – Since the UA tool does not completely finish --
RPD size on 10g – 42,675KB; 11g – 6,375KB
I manually change the webcat in Enterprise Manager to the EPMMaster catalog -this actually caused additional errors on restart.
Has anyone attempted upgrading a delivered RPD to 11g?

This is a known issue that we have worked through with Oracle tech support. The Dimension Deduction.Deduction Sid causes an error that prevents the UA tool from completing the upgrade process. There are a couple of ways around this, but the fastest is to simply delete the Dimension, the two related hierarchies and the fact table that is joined to this dimension. Physical table do not need to be touched however. There are still issues once it’s moved to 11g, but those can be addressed post migration. Thanks much to the Oracle support team for helping us out with this issue!

Upgrade issues OBIEE 10g to 11g along with OBIA upgrade

I have to upgrade OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1 to OBIEE 11.1.1.5 along with OBIA 7.9.6.1 to 7.9.6.5(Informatica 8.6.1 to 9.0.1) at my client location and I have very little knowledge on it. and want to know/have help documents for upgrade.
And if anyone in the forums involved in upgrade please list the errors/issues occured during upgrade and after upgrade.
1. OBIEE 10g to 11g upgrade issues??
2. OBIA OBIA 7.9.6.1 to 7.9.6.5 upgrade issues along with 10g to 11g??

Challenges while Upgrading from OBIEE 10g to 11g

Hi Gurus,
This is Kiran again. This time I am back with the upgradation issues. We have a client which is currently on OBIEE 10g. All components are already configured in OBIEE 10g with client on RPD, Catalog and implemented all security levels for those.
Now the challenge is to upgrade all activities which we have configured in OBIEE 10g. I have seen lot of stuff online and understood how to upgrade from OBIEE 10g to OBIEE 11g by simply clicking on ua.bat file. But I am unable to understand the process how it is upgrading the securities and environments.
Can anyone help me out by providing necessary stuff I need to take care of before taking the decision to upgrade from OBIEE 10g to 11g.
And also please clear me whether we will have any challenges in upgrading process. If yes, then what kind of challenges we will face and what kind of necessary steps we need to implement to resolve it.
What kind of Architecture we need to follow?
How Schedulers will get upgraded?
Please help me out with your real experiences (Not the online websites). Your response will be highly appreciated and it will help lot of OBIEE professionals who are in the process of upgradation.

Parameter is not working in HTTP( XML FEED) dataset in bi publisher 11g

Hi,
I have used parameter in BI Publisher 10g for HTTP(XML Feed) dataset to have dynamic url which worked by using ${p_url} where p_url is the parameter.
The same procedure when I use in BI Publisher 11g is not working.It does not consider the parameter ${p_url} and throws the following exception
*oracle.xdo.dataengine.datasource.plugin.DataAccessException: java.lang.Exception: java.net.MalformedURLException: no protocol: ${p_url}*
Has anyone faced this issue?
Please let me know if am doing something incorrect here.

In BI Publisher 10 g we are using it this way ${p_url}.
p_url is the parameter which gives us the entire URL for the XML feed.
e.g. p_url=http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/topstories
The p_url takes the entire url.
Please let me know if this can be done the same way in 11g.

I Install BI PUblisher 11G Trial in a new clean server with :
+ Windows 2008 R2 Foundation Spanish with SP 1
+ Download, Install BI Publisher 11g Trial
+ Execute Demo Report "Revenue Budget Actual and Detail "
+ In Inteactive mode work fine
+ In HTML send ERROR : "java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 0"
+ In PDF the pivot table don't display any value higer 1.000.000
This is a bug ?,how correct this errors ?

Are you still experiencing this problem?
I do not see this on my installation on Windows7 64 bit running in English.
I also set the BI Publisher UI language and Report Locale to Spanish and all three output types:
Interactive, HTML and PDF render correctly.
When you say that the pivot table doesn't show any values higher than 1.000.000 ... what does it show instead?
How do the other sample reports look for you?

Useing Excel table genarate the report in bi publisher 11g

Using Excel files we upload the data into data set excel but could't generate the reports in Bi-Publisher 11g...we are getting the error :"Null".
We are using open office...is this could be a problem..?

Problem printing Report with Image in BI Publisher 11g

I am working with BI publisher *11g* but I have problem printing images. Everything works fine if I do not include any images however when I add a image I get following problems.
When I tried printing PDF in output I get
Type /Xobject
subtype /Image
Filter /DTDDecode .......
When I tried printing HTML output I get
Type /Xobject
<html...
....>
When I tried printing RTF I get
{ \fontb1 }
{ \f0 Arial;}
{ \f1 Times:}
I think I am missing some BI publisher configuration. Can you help me in this regard.

Isn't there a way for you to do this via a Package/Procedure versus having multiple queries?
Per the BI Publisher guide,
Following are recommended guidelines for building data models:
Reduce the number of data sets or queries in your data model as much as possible. In general, the fewer data sets and queries you have, the faster your data model will run. While multiquery data models are often easier to understand, single-query data models tend to execute more quickly. It is important to understand that in parent-child queries, for every parent, the child query is executed.
You should only use multiquery data models in the following scenarios:
To perform functions that the query type, such as a SQL query, does not support directly.
To support complex views (for example, distributed queries or GROUP BY queries).
To simulate a view when you do not have or want to use a view.

There are External API's which only do JSON outputs. Can this be integrated into a Report? If not, Is there a Enhacement to Add RESTful returning JSON or XML for a Dataset?
