  • Photoshop CC 2014 can't find JavaScript plug-in for Photomerge

    Hello,
I'm trying to use the Photomerge tool in Photoshop CC 2014 on my computer (Windows 7, 64-bit) and am getting an error that says "Could not complete the Photomerge command because Photoshop was unable to find the JavaScript plug-in." The same thing happens with Lens Correction and Merge to HDR Pro. I have the most recent update of Photoshop CC 2014.
Per other suggestions in these forums about this issue, I have tried:
Turning off my virus protection in case it was preventing the program from accessing the scripts per this tip
Downloading and following the instructions on Adobe's site here to copy an additional Scripting folder to my Photoshop program folder
Uninstalling and reinstalling the program, followed by a system reboot
Talking to Adobe customer support (who tried to solve the problem for well over an hour and also uninstalled and reinstalled the program)
It looks like the Photomerge file is in the right place (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014\Presets\Scripts):
And so I am now out of ideas on how to fix this. Anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Here is my menu Help>System Info....  for my working windows CC 2014 check it with yours check the plugin section and try removing any third party plug-ins they may interfear????

  • Photomerge produces white lines when using RAW (PEF) but not TIFF

I just started using PS CC (Mac, v14.1.2) and tried out Photomerge with a set of 40 (4 rows, 10 cols) raw images (Pentax PEF format), resulting in a 0.3 gigapixel image.
When I have them stitched by Photomerge, I see fine white lines at the merge points.
I had enabled all 3 options (blend images together, vignette removal, geometric distortion correction), using cylindrical layout.
When I first convert the PEFs to TIFFs and use Photomerge with the same options, there are no such white lines.
An example of the bad output:
These unwanted lines are, of course, at the edges where the images are getting joined.
Also, when using only a few images (2x2 or 3x3, or even 4x5), I do not get this effect.
I noticed that when using less images, the blend masks' edges are not straight - but they are when I see this issue. This suggests that at some point the merge operation gets overwhelmed and switches to a simpler algorithm, which in turn has this "bug" with RAW images, apparently.
Is this a known issue, and is there a way to get this working right with this many RAW/PEF images?

csuebele, that link only directs me to http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family, which is clearly not a bug report form but yet another "open" discussion forum, it seems.
Sigh. How can Adobe charge so much money for their products and not even afford a team of people to look into bugs that users might want to report. Big companies suck.
Although you were probably looking for a standard developer-type bug report form, you still might want to take a closer look at that site. You'll see numbers next to the topics; those are user votes to help get something fixed sooner. While it's one thing to submit a bug report (and from this thread it seems they might already have it), Adobe uses that site to help prioritize which bugs to fix first, based on the user discussion and votes. Because Adobe has to decide not only whether a bug needs to be fixed sooner than other bugs, but sooner or later than certain feature requests. The user discussions and user votes on that site help them decide, although I'm sure there are other internal considerations.
In addition to votes, you'll see that posts on that site can be marked "Acknowledged" or "In Progress" by Adobe. The user votes and status reports are what make that site a little more quantifiable than this forum. Also, it isn't unusual to see Adobe developers and employees in the threads looking for more info or explaining things. So while it might not look like a traditional bug database, it's along those lines but in a way that makes it a little easier for non-technical users to participate in the process.

  • Photomerge needs non-edited JPEGS to be saved again...error

    Greetings,
Up until yesterday things have been flowing smoothly with Photomerge automation in Photoshop CS6.
I usually import RAW files to stich together, as well as JPEGS.  Randomly, it's to the point where I'll import several JPEGs, go to Add Open Files, and it gives me the "Documents must be saved before they can be merged" error.  They haven't been edited??  What gives? I've tried restarting Bridege, Photoshop, my computer but the probelm persists.
Someone on a previous post said it was the asterik found after the file name in Photoshop that was the culprit ((ex., [email protected]%(RGB/8) * )).  I enabled the script event manager and restarted, but nothing changed, asterik is still there, asks to save.
The only work-around is to go through every JPEG after importing and save them again.  Sort of annoying when there's 10 or so images to uselessly save before stiching.
I have a feeling that Bridge is doing something, or Photoshop makes a slight change as I import that gives me the error that they haven't been saved.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Hunter
    UPDATE 08/21/13
I just happened upon some JPEGs that don't have an asterik once imported into Photoshop.  With these, Photomerge does Add Open Files with no errors.  So now I'm wondering if it's something to do with the camera when it write a JPEG, or if it's still Bridge thats acting up and changing stuff slightly.

    Hi,
You should provide persistent as an option.
If you are using XIR2  ( upto SP3):
    1. Open report in edit mode --> Edit query --> take a snapshot for reference
    2. Remove all the prompt objects
    3. Select Run query and then cancel it imeediately
    4. A popup window will appear to purge the data. Select yes.
    5. Then go back to Edit query and then add all prompt objects.
    6. Save the report.
    If you are using XI R3.x / XIR2 SP4
    1. Purge option is available in Edit query/Edit Report
    2. Save the Report.
In boht cases you should select the prompt parameter as Persistent.
    Hope this helps!

  • What would cause CS5 to stop working whenever I select Photomerge ?

Does any one know why CS5 would stop working everytime I select Photomerge ?

Further interest. If I disable the Radeon Driver and open PS Photomerge works - so the graphics card - or driver - is immediately suspect. However if I thhen close PS and enable the graphics driver then reopen PS - Photomerge still works !!
BUT next time I open PS, it crashes as soon as I open an image - then when I reopen it, it works OK but crashes when I launch Photomerge.
I seriously think it is something weird going on between the computer and the viedo card that somehow PS is involved in.  I guess I'll just leave the question here until some genius pops up with the answer.
In the meantime, I'll just disable the graphics card whenever I want to do a photomerge - whoch is frequently at the moment because I'm playing with focus stacking

  • PS CS5 (x64, x32), Windows 7 (x64) - Photomerge crahes PS

    Hi!
I use PS CS5 x64 to merge some pics for a panorama with Photomerge, which worked just fine - for awhile. Nowadays whenever I try to use Photomerge crashes PS. There is a note the Event Manager of Windows x64 Ultimate (german):
name of crashing application: Photoshop.exe, Version: 12.0.3.0, time stamp: 0x4d035d7d
name of crashing module: Photoshop.exe, Version: 12.0.3.0, time stamp: 0x4d035d7d
    exception code: 0xc0000005
    failure offset: 0x0000000000c2e542
    ID of crahing process: 0x1a14
startup time of crashing application: 0x01cbd7384661dcca
    path to crashing application: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64
    Bit)\Photoshop.exe
    path to crashing module: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64
    Bit)\Photoshop.exe
    report ID: 8d080f09-432b-11e0-a6ac-70f3955024ec
The crash happens reproducible any time no matter if I first load pictures (RAW or JPG or else) and then start Photomerge or try loading Photomerge first. PS just crashes without any comment. This happens in the PS CS5 x86, too. Lens correction or HDR processing are working good. No other problem in PS, except PM.
I tried to reset my preferences (CRTL + ALT + SHIFT while starting) without any cure.
Reinstalled PS CS5 (x64 and x32) without any change.
My Windows 7 Ultimate has all the updates (SP1 now) and so do all the apps of my Master Collection CS5 have. My computer has an i5 and 16 GB DDR3 RAM.
Funny how: I've PS CS5 (x32) installed in a virtual XP client that does the merge perfectly, but awfully slow.
What else can I do to make it work?
Is there some other app that makes a panaorama out of RAW data in the meantime?
    Thanks 4 help!

Upgrading to the newest nVidia driver for that card - no chance.
Please send nVidia criticism for this, and maybe, just maybe if enough people do they'll put some extra effort into improving their quality.  There is no excuse for breaking things that once worked, especially when OpenGL test programs exist.  Their focus is clearly on something besides quality (maybe releasing quickly to satisfy gamers, I don't know).
I swore off nVidia some time ago myself because of their POOR (putting it mildly) software support for released hardware.

  • Is the GPU used in the photomerge features?

I was wondering if the GPU is actually used in any of the photomerge features? Because I'm not convinced it is.
I'm have several GPUs available to test from consumer low end cards (£25) to mid-end professional workstation cards (£450). I'd really like to try a high end gaming card...but think I'll give that a miss as I don't have access to one.
In running tests I've noticed a difference in some features, some rather noticeable, particularly with the GUI/ image response between the cards, so all is good there.
However, what I have noticed is not a great deal of difference, if any, in the photomerge features. Average processing times are the same, irrespective of what card is used.
GPU acceleration is enabled by the way.
And here's the killer: if I disable GPU acceleration, I get the same result (LR is restarted between changes BTW).
So hence that's my conclusion. I'd find it a little strange if it wasn't used. I thought something as mathematically intensive as merging images would be ideal for a GPU.
    Anyone care to comment?

According to Eric Chan, the GPU is used exclusively in the Develop Module, and Photomerge isn't really the Develop Module
GPU notes for Lightroom CC (2015)
If I am understanding things properly, it wouldn't help with photomerge anyway, which probably requires CPU rather than GPU.

  • PSE13 Interactive Layout option is missing from Photomerge Panorama

I have just upgraded from PSE11 to PSE13 and found that the Interactive Layout option is not listed under the Photomerge Panorama as shown in the PSE13 reference manual.  Is this an error in the manual, if not how can I enable this option in PSE13.  I am running PSE13 on a Windows 7 64 bit PC.  Hoping you can help!

The only answer is the one provided by Barbara B above.  I hope they will listen to the feedback on how useful this function was and reintroduce it.
At the moment I use the Reposition photomerge option and then manually move and blend the layers and use the Content-aware Fill.  Obviously, it is much more time consuming than the PSE11 interactive option, but it gives me a better finish than the one I get when I use my camera panorama stitch software.  I haven't investigated whether there is a 3rd party plug-in that one can get to replace the interactive function.

  • Photomerge CS5 doesn't work

Just try the Photoshop CS5 Trial after working with the CS3 ver.
When I try to merge images with the photomerge workflow, it seems that everything working just fine, but after the processing bar shows that the photomerge finished - nothings happen.
The process just ends & there is no panorama, only the same 3 source images I used.
    Any suggestions ?

Anyone who shoot panoramas on a regular basis (at least without a tripod) have experienced flaws in the stitching, meaning blurry and unaligned segments.
That's odd, because I do personally shoot a lot of panos (never using a tripod) and I just don't experience those flaws.  I wonder if differences in subject material, workflow, or even resource shortages could cause the software to fail in minor ways and produce less than perfect results.  I've just not had the kinds of problem with the thing you describe, and I'm fairly critical about my results.
Just as a challenging example, late last year I took photos from all around the observation tower at Clingman's Dome in Smoky Mountains National Park.  I wasn't even standing in the same place for each shot, and every shot was handheld - 14 in all, with maybe 1/3 overlap.  Camera and lens:  Canon EOS-40D at ISO 100, 1/125 second, Canon 28-135 zoom at 28mm, f/7.1.
Photoshop did a remarkable job making a nearly all the way around pano out of these shots just now.
This is the observation deck from which I shot the photos:
Here's a small version of one of the photos:
The full resolution result, right out of Photoshop (just flattened, downsized to 30000 pixels width, and saved as JPEG), can be found at the link below (warning, large file).  I'm having trouble finding any defects such as those you describe in it, which is a bit surprising since some of the same treetops should have overlapped different parts of the distant scenery because of my moving between shots.
    http://Noel.ProDigitalSoftware.com/ForumPosts/ClingmansDomeRawPano.jpg
Here's the detail of the workflow I used:
    1.  Open all CR2 images in Camera Raw.
    2.  Select All images, make color temperature identical, boost Fill Light a little to lighten shadows.
    3.  Set to convert to upsampled 6144 x 4096 resolution, sRGB, 16 bits/channel.
    4.  [Save Images] as .psd files in folder C:\TEMP\Pano, which I use for staging panoramas.
    5.  Click [Done] to get out of Camera Raw.
    6.  File - Automate Photomerge.  Select all 17 files, and choose settings as shown below.
    7.  [ OK ] to run Photomerge.
    8.  Layer - Flatten, downsize to 30000 pixels to enable saving as JPEG.
    9.  Save the result, which can be seen at the link above.

  • PS Elements 8 on Windows 7 - Photomerge Panorama not available

I have PS Elements installed on Windows 7 and when I go to File/New/ the "Photomerge Panorama" is grey and not available to use, while all the other Photomerge options are available.
How do I make it available?
    thanks,

You need to select mulitple images to make panaroma. Try selecting few images and see if the option is enabled.

  • Photoshop CS5 crashes when starting Photomerge

    My configuration is:
    Windows 7 - 64 Bit Professional
8GB - Ram of which Photoshop uses 72%
    >300 GB of scratch disk space
Dell XPS Laptop with Intel Core i7
Intel HD Graphics 3000 w/ 64MB of memory
    No Plug -ins
Whenever I attempt to start Photomerge, Photoshop crashes before the select files dialog box appears. I have tweeked the scratch disk space and percentage of memory allocated to Photoshop, but no change. This does not seem to be a memory or storage limitation problem as I have not been able to even select the files I want to use in the Photomerge program. All of my graphic drivers are up-to-date. Anyone else experienced this and have a solution?

Thanks for your input Noel. I did uncheck the Enable OpenGL Drawing setting, but I got the same result. Digging into this problem further, I found a work-around. To prevent Photomerge from crashing Photoshop, I do the following:
    Start Photoshop
Open a .jpg or .tif file (other file formats not tested)
    Close the .jpg or .tif
    Start Photomerge…and it works!
If I just start Photoshop and go directly to Photomerge without opening a .jpg or .tif , Photoshop crashes every time.
    Any ideas?

  • Photomerge CS5 not as smooth as CS3?

I am having problems with Photomerge in CS5 EX. I am creating a pano with 9 jpg images using auto align. When PS has merged the images I can see all of the transitions. Hard lines almost no blending. I took the same photos and opened them in CS3 and they blended nicely. Almost no work needed to be done other than crop.
Back to CS5>automate>photomerge>blend images together >OK
Bad results again. This time parts of image are not even aligned. Boat cut in half etc. Too much work even for the spot healing brush. Content aware only works in very small areas.

    >> If I choose auto....turns out as a "panorama" of only the middle image.
If this is the case then maybe the images you are using to create the panorama are not clicked for this purpose. To create panorama using auto feature you should use images which have some degree of overlap between the images.
In case you still want to create a panorama with images that were not clicked with this aim, you use the 'interactive' feature.
    >> and then goes to a blank editor screen.
Do you mean that the images selected by you don't appear in the image strip as well?
I suggest you go through PSE7 help link for Photomerge panorama. http://help.adobe.com/en_US/PhotoshopElements/7.0_Win/WSae2ea3b149d0c3591ae939f103860b3d5 9-7fcf.html
In case you find PSE behaving differently from as described in the help file then there might be a problem.
Let us know in either case.

  • PSE8 Trial Hangs After Photomerge

I have been attempting to get PSE8 to produce Photomerge Panoramas without success.  I am using JPG files that successfully created panoramas in PSE2.  PSE8 creates the panoramas and displays them on the screen.  However, approximately 20 seconds later, PSE8 disappears and a crash dialog box is displayed.  I have sent numerous cash reports, complete with my email address, to Adobe support, but have never received so much as an acknowlegement that they received them or even looked at them.  I have also tried the other Photomerge processes and they likewise crash 20 seconds after the completed image is displayed.
Neither restarting PSE8 nor rebooting is any help.  I tried   Help | Updates, but no updates were available.
Here is a copy of the latest crash data file.  I have converted the < > characters to [ ] characters so they don't look like HTML markup.  Can anyone interpret it?  Does anyone have any idea as to what is causing the problem?  Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

    I had this same issue.
It took me a while to figure out what was causing it for me, but do either of you have a SIMBL plugin called 'Stoplight' installed? If so, go to system prefs click the stoplight icon and add keynote to the excluded applications
PS. Whenever something shifty is going on, always check 'unsupported' plugins like SIMBL and Unsanity Haxies, try disabling them, and re-enabling. They are almost always the culprit, and usually have some sort of exclusion mechanism so you won't have to disable your favourite plugins totally.

  • Lr, Photomerge and Lens Corrections

I use to apply an import preset to all my photos that just enables the lens corrections. That's my doubt: when I make a pano with Photomerge in CS5 (so I select photos, right click, Edit In, Merge to Panorama in Photoshop..) I have to select or not the "Vignette removal" and "Geometric Distortion Correction" features? Photomerge takes count on the adjustments made in Lr? I've the doubt because in the source files list are elencated .CR2 files, not TIFF/PSD..
    I made some tries:
    1. Lens corrections in Lr/Lens corrections in Photomerge
    2. Lens corrections in Lr
    3. Lens corrections in Photomerge
Try 1 is a little bit stretched compared to tries 2 and 3.
Tries 2 and 3 aren't totally identical. They not match 100% even if are almost equivalent.
What do you do guys when it comes to panos and lens corrections? Thanks

I think I'll make all the adjustments in Lightroom, lens correction too and leave the two options in Photomerge blank. I don't know why there are little differences between the lens corrections in Photomerge and Lightroom, I thought it's the same module, but that's it..
