Run the downloaded SW package listed in the step 1
Go and select under system settings printer and fax, follow the step-by-step instructions to have a printer installed
Shutdown your Mac and start up again in the safe boot mode
Connect your printer and the printer SW installation message shoud pop up requesting you to install it

  • Trouble with getting the wireless to work with HP Laserjet P1102w printer

    Hi really struggling
I just bought the HP Laserjet P1102w as it was advised that it would run my apple products (Mac OS 10.6  Snow Leopard laptop and ipad).
I have mangaed to set up printer to work using the USB cable to the laptop. Success.
BUT i am finding it impossible to get it to work with wireless on any devices.
I get as far as network selection in set up and nothing is in the list (unlike USB which has the printer named) - so i click the 'create' button and input my network/SSID  code , which is a BTHub. I assume this is correct?  Or is it an address to be found elsewhere ?   I have downloaded driver and software (update HP Firmware utility)
which I believe to be correct from the HP.com website for the operating sytem of the mac.
I have also followed a number of videos but often the process does not follow the video sequences.
I have tried to speak to PC Word  'know how team' who sold me the printer but they had no knowledge at all to help this situation.   Any help would be much appreciated - this seems l ongoing problem for some other  users.

    Hi @bgriffiths60 ,
I understand that you are having issues setting up the printer over the wireless network. I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue.
To check your network Encryption type, go to the Apple, System Preferences, Network, click the Advanced button/double click the network name. (shows WEP or WPA)
To check the network password follow these steps:
On the Apple menu bar, click Go, select Applications, Utilities, Keychain Access, double click the network name,
check the box to show the password, type in your Mac password to view it. (some networks have a shortcut password setup)
Make sure Safari is set as the default browser. Sometimes the Embedded Web Server won't open in other browsers.
Open Safari, across the top select the Safari menu, select Preferences, General, set as default.
Restore the printer defaults: Turn the printer off, hold down the wireless button and cancel (x button) while turning the printer back on and don't release the two buttons until the printer stops making noise.
Print out a configuration report and make sure the SSID and IPv4 address are cleared.
HP LaserJet Pro P1102 and P1106/P1108 Printer Series - Printing a Configuration Page.
Go to the Apple, System Preferences, Print and Fax.
    Double click on the P1102w.
    Open the Utility.
    Click Printer Setup.
    Click HTML config.
This should open the Embedded Web Server for the printer.
    Click the Networking tab.
Click Wireless from the list on the left.
Under Communication Mode , click Infrastructure.
Select your network SSID from the Available Network Names (SSID) list and then click the << button so the network name moves over to other box.
From the Security Mode pop-up menu under Authentication , click WEP, WPA/WPA2 or open . Your selection depends on which Wireless Security Protocol your network uses.
Make sure you select either hexadecimal or alpha depending on your password. (very important)
    Apply the settings.
In the confirmation box (changes have been saved), click OK.
You should get a solid blue light on the printer shortly.
Then all we have to do is delete the USB driver and add the network driver.
    Click on the Apple.
    Click System Preferences.
Click the Print and Fax icon.
Highlight the printer and click on the - sign to delete the printer. (USB driver)
    Disconnect the USB cable.
Then click the + sign and select the printer from the list and click add. (P1102w Bonjour)
    Test the printer.
If you have any issues with the HTML config opening then do the following steps:
    Close any applications.
On the Apple menu bar, click Go, Computer, MAC harddrive, Library, Printers, HP, LaserJet, click on folder for your printer, click on EWS browser or HTML config, click the Networking tab, click wireless on the left and fill out your information. (make sure infrastructure is selected) Apply settings.
Then delete the USB driver and add the network printer.
If there is anything else that I can help you with just let me know.
    Have a nice day!
    Thank You.
Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

  • HP laserjet m1005 printer

I have never understood how printing works in linux and this adds to my woes while installing printers. I have this HP printer and am using cups 1.6. Once
the printer is plugged in I can see the following with dmesg
    [    2.629357] usb 2-1.6: new low-speed USB device number 6 using ehci_hcd
    [    3.980041] usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 5 if 1 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x03F0 pid 0x3B17
[    3.980060] usbcore: registered new interface driver usblp
I assume that this means that the kernel detected that a printer was plugged in and registered an "interface driver" (I do not know what an "interface driver"
is).  Now, cups needs to detect this printer. I do not understand why it does not? I mean, the kernel has already identified it as a printer.
Then, I am confused about what hp-setup does. In the wiki about cups, hp-setup was not mentioned. Nevetheless, when I run hp-setup as root I find that
    it detects the connected printer
    Using device: hp:/usb/HP_LaserJet_M1005?serial=KJ2SR56
but it has its own issues: all this mess about python2, python3 and python-dbus. May be I will be able to install this printer by reading "n" number of forums
but I want to understand the process of printing right from the point I connect my printer so that I can be satisfied that I have learnt something. Can
somebody please explain what is this process in simple terms ? Please let me know if any other information is needed regarding my printer.

The "interface driver" is usblp, which is the kernel module that creates (I believe) /dev/usb/lp0. I'm not 100% sure about the device location, because I've had issues with CUPS 1.6 and my printer doesn't like the usblp kernel module.

As 12eason suggested, you probably won't need to do much to get your printer working. Judging by a quick Google search, it doesn't appear that your printer requires the firmware to be uploaded to the device at connect time. That means hp-setup probably won't do much for you beyond setting up the print queue in CUPS if you follow through the entire series of questions. It doesn't work on my printer (HP LaserJet 1020, requires firmware), but it may on yours. Check your /etc/cups/printers.conf for entries after you've run through the entirety of hp-setup.
jpvarma wrote:Can somebody please explain what is this process in simple terms ? Please let me know if any other information is needed regarding my printer.
Truth be told, you might be better off asking this on a CUPS-related mailing list. CUPS is complicated software and the process is further affected by which backends you have available (hplip adds new ones, for instance).
Are you mostly interested in how CUPS works or are you having issues getting it to work with your printer? I suspect the latter, but I'm also curious what you got out of the Arch Wiki on CUPS and what you've tried (you have tried using the web interface to add the printer, haven't you?).
In short: Just because the kernel is reporting a printer attached doesn't mean it knows how to print to it (it doesn't--the kernel isn't responsible for that anymore than it should be responsible for HTTP). That's the job of CUPS. You also have to have CUPS configured with the correct PPDs for your printer since, AFAIK, CUPS essentially treats all printers as PostScript devices; the backends and PPDs simply translate PS to the native protocol of the printer (mine is a Zjstream protocol printer, which requires either hplip or foo2zjs--yours is different). If CUPS isn't configured (read the wiki; also, you may need to futz with /etc/cups/cupsd.conf if you have trouble accessing http://localhost:631), it won't print, regardless of what the kernel is reporting.

  • How do I enable the Typewriter function in 9.3.0?

I just uploaded 9.3.0 and now I cannot access the typewriter, page insertion/deletion functions, etc.  Under the Tools option, customize toolbars there is an asterisk next to the typewriter icon and it says only available when document rights are enabled.

In essence, you have been downgraded.
If you had Acrobat to begin with, you should still have it.
If you have Acrobat version 9.x or above, you can update it by opening Acrobat and using Help>Check for updates. If you have an older version of Acrobat (Version 8 or older), the upgrade isn't free so you'll need to go to the Adobe store and purchase it.

Apart from this you can check basic printer redirection requirements must be there for successful printer redirection.
    -  RDP 7.0 or above
    -  .Net Framework 3.5 or above
    -  If you connect over RD Gateway, ensure that the policy that disables printer redirection is turned off.
    -  GPO setting "Use Print printer driver first” must be set to “Enabled” for Easy Print redirection, and it has to be “Disabled” for Legacy Print.

  • The only working print-related function in BioBench1.2 on my PC is the "Print Report", all the other "Print" functions gave me "Error, the printer is not set up correctly".

I used to print all my BioBench data by first exporting them to Excel and then print from there. Recently I need to print some of the screen shots and some data directly from array analysis, but when I click on the "print" buttons, the "Error, the printer is not set up correctly" message occurs. The only thing I can print from BB without this error is the report printing function. I have a postcript printer and I have set the postscript option to be "true"... Thanks !

This problem is a result of a limitation in Windows 9x regarding the size of an image that you can send to the printer. The problem does not occur on Windows 2000/NT. This problem appeared with the increased color options of LabVIEW 6.0 on which the BB1.2 is based.Although it is not immediately obvious, your video driver and settings play a role in printing.
    1. Try adjusting the color palette your driver uses (i.e., 256 color, high olor, true color). The error may occur only in one of these modes. Also, change the resolution (number of pixels) to represent the Screen Area; e.g., change from a 1024 x 768 display to an 800 x 600 pixel display.
2.Certain video drivers also support "acceleration" modes. Using a non-accelerated mode often eliminates the error. For
Windows 95/98, right-click on your My Computer icon and select "Properties" from the pop-up
menu. On the Performance tab, click the Graphics button and change the Hardware Acceleration (e.g., if it is set to "Full", lower the setting a notch or two); for Windows 2000/NT, right-click on your Desktop and select "Properties" from the pop-up menu. On the Settings tab, click the Advanced button and go to
    Troubleshooting.
3.In Windows, the standard VGA driver provided by the operating system is very stable. Try using this driver in place of the specific one written for your video hardware. If the error is eliminated, there is likely a problem with your vendor-provided video driver.
4.These errors are most often fixed with the latest
video/printer driver. Be sure to contact your hardware manufacturer and install the latest driver. An easy way to determine if your error is "driver-related" is to move your code to another machine (and hopefully a different set of drivers) and see if th
e error persists. If the problem is printer related, try another printer.
5.Make sure there are at least 100M avalible space in your C: drive. If not, set the virtual memory to the other drive which has larger available space.

  • HP LaserJet P1102w prints EXTREMELY slow over Wi-Fi

I've been struggling with this problem for a long time, but today this totally freaked me out. I was ready to throw away this piece of ..printer! Problem is simple. When I'm trying to print wirelessly something with graphics (jpeg pictures or photos) from my iPhone, iPad iOS 8.4 or MacBook OS X 10.10 Yosemite, it takes forever! Word document, PDF, from Preview or other programs - same result! I just couldn't pring 9 page document today, after 20 minutes I gave up. What's happening. Let's say I'm using mac. Print task goes to printer queue, as usual. After that, this task shows in queue as "connecting to printer", green light starts blinking on printer, as usual. This is taking a minute or two, that's what unusual. After that, "starting printing page 1". It can take 1, 2, 3 minutes... forever! Next, either ONE page actually prints (for 5-7 minute mark at this point) and it takes same time to print page two and so on, or (likely) it will spit out unfinished page (only couple of inches printed and the rest of the page is blank) and show an error, orange light blinking. UGH!!! I gave up on iPhone/iPad long time ago, since they can't show print queue and therefore it's unpredictable result. You can wait 10 minutes for your document, then leave, and later on just find the document printed when you no longer need it (or half of the document). I do not have this problem when printing just text, emails, simple confirmation pages from safari and so on. Only when printing document with graphics or heavy pdf. I do not have this problem when connecting printer via USB (discovered this today). Now what really bugs me, it's the fact that I was actually able to print heavy PDF from Windows machine with no problem, wirelessly (I did have problem printing exact same document from my mac). WHAT IS GOING ON?! I've googled this problem and found that I'm not alone. I've updated all software and firmware, I've tried to reset everything - NO DICE! This is really very frustrating. I was thinking this is because of small memory of the printer, but why it works perfectly via USB then? Anyway, this is a cry from the heart. Please help. The printer is good, but unusabe in some situations.

Hello ! Welcome to the HP Community.I hope you have a pleasant experience here! I'd like to help you with the slow printing that you are experiencing when printing images to your HP LaserJet P1102w wirelessly from your Apple devices. Thank you so much for the detailed description. Since the printer is able to print fine wirelessly from the windows machine, we know that the issue is not with the printer or the communication. The fact that none of the Apple devices are able to print images wirelessly without it being really slow, leads me to beleive it may be an Issue with the AirPrint driver or Bonjour protocol that your Apple devices use to communicate the information. Picture files are much larger, and a lot more data needs to be transmitted, so it is normal for them to take longer to print than a regular text document. However, if there is a marked difference in speed between the Windows computer and the Apple devices, then the issue is likely not just that the files are larger. I'd like to get you to make sure the printer is installed with the correct driver on your Mac. (Because there is no full feature HP software available for Mac 10.10 the operating system will often default to the AirPrint driver) Click the Apple icon on your Menu Bar.Select System Preferences.Select Printers and Scanners.Select your printer and then press the (-) button at the bottom of the list to remove it.Select the (+) and click Add Printers and Scanners. (NOTE: Do not select the printer from the list of Nearby printers as this will often automatically use the AirPrint driver)Select your printer (the one that shows Bonjour Multifunction under "Kind").At the bottom of the window under Use: does it say AirPrint? If so, click the drop down and you should see a specific driver for the printer. Click Add.Try printing an image again, and let me know the result. If this works to resolve the issue, then I would suggest downloading the HP ePrint app on your iPhone and iPad to print. It may be an incompatibilty issue between the AirPrint on your Apple devices and your router. I look forward to hearing back from you, and working towards a resolution for this issue.

  • HP LaserJet P1006 Print very slow with Windows 8.1

I have an HP LaserJet 1006 that is installed on Toshiba Laptop running Windows 8.1 and was working fine even from time to time it stop working at all, then I have to remove the software and then reinstall it again and then it works fine, last time I downloaded the Windows 8.1 Driver for the printer.
But this time, first I tried to remove the software but it didn't work; the printer still show up on the control panel - Devices and Printers. then some how I was able to reinstall the software , after that the printer is working but printing very slow even it is a LaserJet printer.
Please any one can help with that?
    Thanks;
    Waleed;

    Hey @wmowafi,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're experiencing a slow printing issue on Windows 8.1 when printing to your HP Laserjet P1006 Printer. I would like to work with you today at resolving this issue. Now the only driver available for your product on Windows 8.1 is a hostbased plug and play basic generic driver. Therefore, there is limitations for what can be done for troubleshooting. As you stated, you have already attempted an uninstalled and reinstalled of the driver to no avail. I'm going to suggest some further steps and tools to resolve this issue for you.
    Step 1: Uninstall Your Printer:
    Disconnect your USB cable
Click the following link: Fix problems that programs cannot be installed or uninstalled to access the Microsoft Uninstall Tool.
Once the website opens, select Run Now on the right hand side
    Allow the Tool to run.
    When prompted choose Uninstall
A list of programs should populate and you're looking for the Laserjet. It may appear as LJ P1000 series. Please select the Laserjet series and Uninstall it.
If the Laserjet doesn't show in the list of programs than your Windows 8.1 computer does not see the Laserjet driver as properly installed.
Step 2: Clear the Temp Files:
Launch your Start screen by right clicking on the Windows icon on the bottom left of your screen or by select the Windows button on your keyboard located to the right of the Ctrl button.
Once the Start screen launches, type the word Run
Click on Run to launch it
In the Run box type %temp% and select OK
Once the Temp folder opens, hold down Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard and everything will highlight in the folder. Select 'Delete' on your keyboard. Don't worry, no files or folders on your actual computer will be removed during this process. If a file is still be used on your computer you will get a pop up to 'skip' the file
Once the Temp folder is emptied of its files, close the window
On your Desktop, right click on the Recycling Bin and left click on 'Empty Recycling Bin'
    Restart you computer
Step 3: Reinstall the Laserjet P1006:
Please keep your USB cable disconnected
Click on the following link: HP LaserJet P1000-P1500 Hostbased Plug and Play Basic Driver
The driver page for your product will now launch
Select Download and allow the download to Run
Once the download is complete an extraction will automatically run and once completed the installer will launch
Run through the step-by-step on screen instructions.
Please do not plug in your USB cable until prompted
Ensure that your USB cable is plugged in from the rear of the printer directly to the computer. Avoid extenders or docking stations as they can cause printing and communication issues.
    Test printing!
Please let me know if the steps I've provided resolve your issue. Good luck!
