Enabling Wake on USB in W530

Hi,
I have a W530 running Win7 with a dock and I run it in clamshell mode all the time. Is there a way to enable wake on USB? I can't get it to wake with mouse or external KB, I have to hit the power button on the dock which is a bit awkward due to the placement of my system.
I looked in device manager and made sure that both the mouse and kb have the wake function enabled, but I see that the USB root devices do not, and it is grayed out. I looked in the BIOS and do not see a way to enable it.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Chris

Hey there ckoebel,
Well from what we can tell, we know we can resume the laptop from sleep when it is not docked with external mouse and keyboard. Currently what BIOS version are using? And have you updated this recently?
Additionally, go under Universal Serial Bus Controller and Human Interface Devices. Make sure all of these, if they have the option with power manager, have unchecked "power this device off save to power".
In the meantime, I am going to continue researching to see what I can find out for you ckoebel!

  • P965 neo - Wake on USB???

does anyone know how to enable the wake on USB in the bios?
the option is there but it is greyed out/ not enabled.
looking to wake my pc with an MCE remote.
    cheers

right en, all that is already done, however, in the wake event setup in bios, the option 'wake on USB S3 bla bla bla' is greyed out, it not available to select or change. if i scroll down to it the highlighting curson jumps skips it. i was wondering if they was a keyboard combination, ie. ctrl+f1 or something like that, that will aloow me to make changes/enable wake on usb?

  • Mac Pro with Wake on Demand enabled wakes up but never goes to sleep again

    Hey,
i was using Wake on Lan since OS 10.5 Leopard for waking my Mac up with a Magic Packet. Since 10.6 this brilliant feature was removed and replaced by "wake on demand" wich lets your computer wake up every 2 hours for a few seconds (very ultra annoying if your mac is in the same room as your bed). This is at least how it SHOULD work.. of course it doesn't...
Everytime i enable Wake on Demand my Mac Pro will wake up but will NOT go to sleep a few seconds later (as it is intended).

  • MSI E350IA-E45 Wake On USB does not work

I spent hours trying to get the computer to be able to wake from my usb devices. I enabled it in the bios and in the Windows 7 device manager. However, it doesn't work. The motherboard cuts off power to the USB when in S3 sleep mode. Has anybody been able to get Wake From USB working on this board or is it false advertisement?

Mine works with a USB mouse but not Bluetooth mouse.... My BT also has issues on cold start, until I jumped the 5volt pin to the 5v stand by on the power supply

  • How to enable wake on lan on Thinkpad Twist?

I have a Thinkpad Twist purchased because of the presence of the ethernet card.
Unfortunately I can not turn wake on lan.
I did several searches and several attempts without success.
Someone managed to enable wake on lan?
    Thank you.
(sorry for the English by Google Translate)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hey there Cello67,
To enable Wake On Lan on a Thinkpad twist:
    1) You will first need to power down your laptop completely.
    2) Then turn it on, as soon as you turn it on start hitting the enter key to interrupt start up. This will take you to a start up menu.
    3) From here you will need to enter your BIOS.
    4) Move right over to the Config, then press enter on the Network Selection
    5) The first option you should have is Wake On Lan. You can change this from disabled to either AC Only or AC and Battery.
After you have done this save your settings, and resume startup. Once the computer has finished booting go to your desktop, and pull out your charm bar by pressing Win Key + C or with a swipe from the right side of your screen in. From here you will:
    1) Enter the Control Panel
    2) Device Manager - > Your Ethernet Card/Adapter
    3) Click the Power Management Tab
    4) Select "Allow this device to wake the computer"
    Hope this helps Cello67!

  • How do I reset or enable a disabled usb port on a macbook air 10.7.2

Ok, tried installing a thumb drive and a message says "too much power is being drawn, usb is disabled..."  Does anyone know how to reset or enable a disabled usb on a MBA?  Thanks

Reset PRAM & SMC several times with no luck.  Took it to the apple store and did a diagnostic...pass, but USB still does not work.  Genius says, USB hardware will need to be replaced...FREE (under warrantee).  It would have been $280 for labor and parts replacement.  Should be ready in 5-7 days.  Lessons learned, don't buy cheap USB thumb drive.

  • How may I enable Wake On Lan on the B570-1068AFU

    Hi Jasbryan,
If RV220W doesn't forward UDP to a broadcast address, could you ( i.e. Cisco) provide a tools for sending WOL Magic Packet to the LAN on Router Device Manager page?
I see many routers also provide this tools from their manager page.
    Thanks.

  • How do i disable "Wake on USB"?

i am using a Dell 17" monitor and i've plugged in my keyboard to the usb hub integrated with the monitor.
problem is, whenever my mbp goes into sleep mode, it will put the monitor into sleep mode as well. but when the monitor goes into sleep mode, it shuts down the keyboard. OS X will then detect as something has been connected/disconnected from the USB ports and come right out of sleep mode again.
It is impossible to put my mbp in sleep mode now. Is there any workaround for disabling the Wake on USB function? (I know there is a Wake on LAN and a Wake on Bluetooth but I can't find anything for Wake on USB.)

I think Apple started doing this because earlier versions of X would crash when USB was plugged/unplugged in sleep. I don't think you're going to be able to disable it - why not plug the keyboard in to the MacBook? I realise you'll have to unplug it every time you want to move the 'Book but it's the only answer I can see at the moment.

  • Supports GT780 wake-on-lan and wake-on-usb?

Does the GT780 support 'Wake-on-lan' and 'wake-on-usb'? Especially the last one is important for me as I will use the laptop 99% with closed lid. So I would like to be able to wake it just by pressing a key on the keyboard.
    Thanks!!

Have a look and see what settings there are in the 'Power Management' section of BIOS setup.
I don't own the computer yet. If the wake-on-lan and wake-on-usb works, I'm gonna buy the computer. But: I did find the manual on the internet (I did my research before posting), but it didn't say anything on wake-on-lan en wake-on-usb. So, I hope somebody from MSI or somebody that owns the computer can answer this?

  • Tecra 8000: Does Bios Update enable booting from USB?

    Hello
    I have Toshiba Tecra 8000 (PentiumII 266MHZ)
Will this bios bios-t8000-930-trad.zip (08/26/02) enable boot from USB ?

    Hi
Im not sure about that. Your BIOS version is 020 but on the Toshiba website I have found a BIOS version 9.30. Well, it seems that this version is newer but Im not sure if it allows you to use the 40GB HDD.
Some Tecra 8000 models were delivered with a 14 GB HDD. In my opinion it should be possible to use a 20 or maybe a 30 GB HDD but its difficult to say if the bigger HDD size will work.
You can ask the professional HDD dealer or a ASP for further informations.

  • Dv6-7014nr Does it support Wake-on-LAN, WoWLAN, or Wake on USB.?

I am not finding Bios settings for any of these features. Inn fact the BIOS looks prettypaltry.  Am I missing a hidden menu or something or is the BIOS really that bad feature-wise?  I found the USB "allow this device to start the computer" setting in the USB device powermanagement settings but I can't select it.  Is there a way to enable that setting?

wake-on-lan must be enabled already and no option for customers to configure in BIOS because these are consumer units and not many users use such options on this platform.
I can see that network driver in device manager gives you option to configure Wake-on-Lan under device propertties>Advanced tab. several options such as wake-on-lan magic packet - Shutdown wake-on-lan etc...
yes the options may be limited to driver used. if its factory image or drivers are used from hp.com; that should give you options.

  • Every time I enable the OnBoard USB, in bios, the memory check takes ages.

yup. Every time I change the OnBoard USB to enabled in BIOS, the startup memory check takes for ages (approximately 5 minutes or so...)(the check jamms for a few numbers before it's finished, it jamms on numbers 104857 and after a little while it goes to the end 1048576 and continues the startup process) and this is really starting to annoy me 'cause I have to use a non-optical mouse and non-wireless keyboard because of that stupid bug or what-so-ever. Is the only choice BIOS update?
Edit1: the motherboard is MSI KT400, so it's VIA based.

Please run  Memtest86 after disabling usb.
And btw a complete list of your hardware including the specs (amps!) of your psu would be helpfull.
Edit: You've already opend another thread about same topic so I close this one.
    No double threads please.

  • How to enable Wake On Lan on MSi P45 Neo2?

    Hi,
I just bought a P45 Neo2, and I think I have WOL on this machine, as the Realtek chipset 8111C does support the feature. However, I'm not sure how to
    - enable
    - use
the function. Can you help me?
Under Device Manager, I go to the Realtek network adapter --> Properties --> Power Management --> Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby.
Now, it is enabled. How should I use it? I would be very thankful :-).

  • How to Enable Wake On Lan over the Internet??

Hi, I am using RV220W with the latest firmware, I want to make "Wake on LAN" work for my NAS, I found the following description on Internet:
"If you wish to use Wake On Lan over the internet you will need to set up your destination firewall/router to allow "Subnet Directed Broadcasts". Most routers and firewalls disable this option by default.
You will then need to allow traffic through on your firewall/router on a specific port. The choice of ports is up to you."
So how can I enable "Subnet Directed Broadcasts" on RV220W??
    Thanks.
