Enabling wirless in hp dv5 1145ee

The issue is in the said laptop. How to enable the wireless/bluetooth kill switch (soft switch). What is the command to be used?(googled but could not get the correct one)
Note: When legacy OS was there the wireless had been disabled and gave these problem. This issue had been resolved again enabling the wireless with legacy OS and swapping the hard disk with Arch installed one. (Wireless :  AR24X chip set works fine with ndiswrapper).

Try and install the Bluetooth driver from here and check...

  • Unable to access wirless network

my parents had a linksys wireless router (model befw11s4)installed into their house a few years ago....needles to say, no one has attempted to connect using the wirless router until i got here. when i did try connecting to the SECURITY-ENABLED WIRLESS NETWORK i did not get a password prompt....instead it ran as if i did and still did not connect me, saying i needed a network key.

You may open the web setup utility page of the router by typing its IP address on your browser's address bar. By default, it is 192.168.1.1.  When you're asked for username, you may leave it blank.  For password, its "admin". Go to Wireless>then the wireless security subtab(Or if you see a WEP KEY SETTINGS button on it you can see it there). Key1 is your network key there. If you typed that in your network key box, you should be able to go online afterwards. Reset your router on the back if it does not work so you won't be prompted any keys. That'll set your router to default which has no security if you want to...

  • Sound/Wifi switch buttons not working

    Hi,
I just booted my computer (pavilion dv6-1120ek) up today & the tactile board isn't working anymore. The light is glowing, but doesn't react to my touch.
Now I can only control sound via sound panel in Windows, but the real problem is the wi-fi, when I try to activate it through Windows, it says "Use the Switch on the front side of the computer, or function keys if available, to enable wirless capability on this computer".
Please if there's anything troubleshooting, that would be great !
    Thanks in advance.

I have the WRT54GS wireless router.  I am trying to enable wirless in mixed mode on the basic wirless settings screen.  When I click save, the hour glass keeps spinning and the settings never get saved.  I also receive an error on page in the lower left hand corner of the screen.  Any ideas?

This problem is usually caused by a poor connection between the computer and router.  This has many possible causes, but the two most common are:  (a) trying to access the router setup pages wirelessly and (b) a computer software firewall problem.  Here is my full set of tips:
You do not need an Internet connection. The router's "web pages" are built into the router.
Use Internet Explorer, it usually works.
    JavaScript must be enabled.
Use a computer that is wired to the router.
In the non-working computer, temporarily turn off your software firewall.
Point your browser to 192.168.1.1 , then login to your router. Your user name should be left blank. Your password is "admin" (with no quotes), unless you changed it.
If you are using Zone Alarm, right click on the ZA icon in the system tray (lower right corner of screen) and then click "Shutdown ZoneAlarm", and see if this fixes your problem. If this does not work, try the following with Zone Alarm: Open the ZAISS control center, go to Privacy, then temporarily turn off Ad Blocking and Cookie Control, and see if that fixes your problem.
Some Zone Alarm users have reported that adding 192.168.1.1 to their list of "trusted" addresses fixed the problem. This trick might also work with other firewalls.
If you are using Noton Internet Security with the Add-on Pack, be sure to turn off the Pop-up Blocker, and the Ad blocker. Some users have reported that they needed to uninstall the entire Norton Add-on Pack.
If you cannot get anything at 192.168.1.1 then perhaps this is not your router's address. Go to "Start" > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
A black DOS box will appear. Type in "ipconfig" (with no quotes), then hit the Enter key. Look at the "Default Gateway". Is it 192.168.1.1 ? Point your browser to the "Default Gateway", then login to your router.
If the above fails, disconnect your modem from the router, and try again. If this corrects your problem, then most likely you have a "modem-router" rather than an ordinary modem. Report back with this problem, and also state the make and exact model number of your modem (not the router).
If all of the above fails, power down your entire system, unplug it from the wall, wait one minute, then power up and try again.
If all of the above tips fail, then reset the router to factory defaults: Power down the router and disconnect all wires from it. Wait one minute. Power up the router, allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes), then press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release the button and allow the router to reset and reboot ( 2-3 minutes). Power down router. Wait one minute. Connect one computer, by wire, to a LAN port on the router. Boot up system. It should work.
If you still have trouble, then you need to download and install (or re-install) the latest firmware for your router. After the firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.

  • WRTG54G v6 Nothing works right

I have 2 issues with the router. The first is that IT will not allow me to enable wirless security. I am at the screen to select it but when I try and select it just goes back to the default of disabled. I also cannot set the wirless mac filter It will not allow me to enable it. I also cannot connect to the internet I am however daisy chained to my other router a BEFSW11S4. I have my homenetwork setup on static ips and I set the router to access my other one for the default gateway but still nothing. I dont have all night to comb the message boards if I cannot get a simple straight foward answer Ill just take it back.

this i what you can try...hardwire a PC to the WRT , access the wrt using http://192.168.1.1 ...password is admin...change the lan ip address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2 ....also disable the DHCP and save settings...go to the wireless section and change the cahnnel to 11 and any desired SSID...save settings ....then go to advanced wireless settings , here reduce the beacon interval to 50 and reduce the RTS and fragmentation threshold by 40 each...save settings...
make sure that you are using the latest firmware for this router....now hook up the wrt to the befw using the LAN ports , do not use the internet/WAN port of the WRT ....

  • Setting up a Printer over Wirless Network

I have a MacBook Pro and a Old G4 Mirror Door connected to a Linksys Wirless Router in my home. I only have one phone jack in my house and its in the kitchen.:( So I put an Airport card in the G4 so I could have my computer in my office. I have a hp Deskjet 3650 connected directly to the G4 via USB. What I'm wondering is.. is there a way that I can print to this printer from my MacBook Pro over the network? Or does the printer have to be connected directly to the wirless router?
    Hope someone can help.
    Cheers,

You certainly can set up a printer this way. Go to the Print & Fax preference pane in the System Preferences. Click on the Sharing tab, enable "Share these printers with other computers", and make sure that the check box next to your printer is checked.

  • How to enable WPS on Westell 327W

I know I need to go into the router http://192.168.1.1/ but I have no idea what to do once I get there.  I bought Netgear WNCE2001 Universal Wifi Internet adapter to connect my direct tv receiver to the internet...but I don't see how to enable the WPS
    Thanks
    Julie

    jmwolff1 wrote:
it doesn't support WPS?  Why does it say it does in the product specs?  That I looked into several times and my understanding was that it did and I just had to go into the router to enable it.
I am not sure where the "command prompt" screen is.  Is it when I log into http://192.168.1.1?
I am trying to get my direct TV wirelessly linked to the internet using the adapter.
When you go to 192.168.1.1 do you see a blue-and-white web page, or do you see a red-and-black web page?
If you see a blue-and-white web page, then the 327W is running the original firmware that came from Westell.  If you see a red-and-black web page, then the 327W is running the newer firmware that Verizon made available a few years ago.
There are some wireless devices that will not work when communicating with the blue-and-white firmware.  I had a 327W and a Sony blu-ray player that would not talk to each other no way no how, until I downloaded and installed the red-and-black firmware.  Then the routine set-up worked.  There are other wireless devices that communicate just fine with a 327W, no matter which version of the firmware it's running.
I can't tell you whether you need to update the firmware in the 327W or not, but I hope the above helps.
About six months after I updated the 327W firmware, the 327W bit the dust.  I ended up getting a newer 7500 from Verizon, for less than $3.00 a month.
If it were up to me, I would call verizon and ask them if the can replace the old 327W with a 6100G or a 7500, depending on my needs.  Failing in that, I would go down to a store and buy a server end wireless adaptor that plugs into the 327W, and set one of the two devices to bridge mode.  I've never done that, so I'll let others tell you how.  I don't like that solution, because it involves one more box.  I like to keep things as simple as possible, but not simpler than that.
Once you have working hardware and firmware, setting up the wireless service is fairly intuitive, provided you understand the basics of what is going on.  The complexities come into play when you try to set your configuration to make your wireless network somewhat secure.  Depending on your location, this may be necessary to keep people from accessing your local files via a wirless LAN connection.
If I can find it, I'll try to get back to you with the location of a website that explains how to use the interface you get to when you go to 192.168.1.1.  By the way, if you go to http://dslrouter you should get to the same screen.  I find that easier to remember than the numbers.

  • Printing issue wirlesse printing on c5100 all in one

    Hello
I have issues printing over my wirless network using a mac and printing on C5100 all in one. When the printer is running and I start up my mac (running 10.8.3) I can print the windows documents. However if the printer is switched on after the mac is switched on it can not find the printer.
I reinstalled the all the drivers on the mac and set a fixrd ip adress for the printer but both doesnt work. same issue with a second mac laptop also running 10.8.3
Anybody an idea what this could be?
    Tahnks in advance

I am thinking the router does not support Bonjour (otherwise known as mDNS).  Macs need this service to be able to find the printer.
Get into the router settings and look for Bonjour or mDNS and make sure it is enabled. Also, make sure the multicasting is enabled in the router.

    Thanks for the reply!
The open source driver doesn't support my card yet. I tried installing it first since its the recommended driver, but Xorg couldn't detect any display at all.
It seems the PCI BusID is not being read from the xorg.conf file. There's auto detection everytime the PC boots.

Have you enabled multicast mode on the controller ?
If so, in what mode ? Unicast or multicast ?
If you selected multicast mode, do you see the controller joining the original stream and sending it to the LWAPP distribution group to the other APs ?

  • Disabled sound, cannot figure how to re-enable!

Pavilion dv5.  Windos 7 64-bit.  "Communications headphones properties" showed both Left-panel and Front-panel 3.5mm jack buttons.  Was not getting sound from external speakers, which are plugged into   left-panel jack, but was getting sound from internal speaker.  Tried to fix by disabling "front-panel jack" [there is no actual front-panel jack that I can see], and this disabled the internal speakers but did not help the external speakers. The IDT audio control panel does not offer options I can find for re-enablein or troubleshooting -- says everything is working fine, and it ain't!

"This compuer has no wireless interface enabled or Windows is not set up to manage wirless networks on this computer"
That would mean that either this computer does not have wireless capability or it's wireless is turned off. It could also mean that the native WinXP wireless utility has been usurped by a third-party version...for example vendors like Dell will provide a wireless management utility with their wireless-equipped laptops.
