Enahncement in IS Utilties

Hi Experts,
What are events in IS Utilities? Can anyone give me an idea about the exits in IS Utilities?
Some people say that exits in ISU have different conventions. Are Events termed as enhancemnts when it comes to IS Utilities?

Master data can not be created without necessary configuration. If configuration is not a problem then just go through the dump messages, it will will tell you what the problem is. It could be due to missing component, check with basis admin to make sure he had applied all latest service packs. Also check if they ran gen steps properly.

Deleted Utilties and CD problems - Completly stuck

hi there,
I writing this from my girlfriend who uses an Apple MacBook, OS X 10.4.11 Intel Core Duo.
She once deleted the the "Utilties" folder and seems also to have problems with her CD drive.
As I am "PC" I have no glue how to fix those kind of issues in the Apple world. I created a Linux (Knoppix) bootable CD which works perfect on my Windows machine. I tried to use the same CD to boot from it on the MacBook.
I read in several forums to boot from CD you need to press "C", when you hear the start up sound. I realize that the mac tries to read the cd, but drops out the CD after a while. As my girlfriend said, that CD is not working in general anylonger (she thinks it is realted with the deletion of the utilties folder), I thought I will install Linux (Knoppix 6.2) on a USB-stick and boot from USB (holding the ALT key, when starting up)
When booting up with alt key, it only shows the hard disc to boot from...
... so i googled for a solution for this, and I found in a mac forum people where talking about rEFIt (http://refit.sourceforge.net/). So we downloaded that.
There they say you need to run that "rEFIt.mpkg" file. But the Mac does not recognize mpkg files anylonger as it seams that Apple Installer is missing.
So I googled for that - I found a guy who said to install Apple Installer, you need to have Apple Installer?
It looks like that we are stuck now...
... any ideas what we could do now??

Do you have an External CD/DVD reader you could use on the Mac?
Without another Mac around, I think you could try these things...
MacDrive for your PCs... allows them to Read/Write & Format HFS+...

Error while assigning fcode in enahncement screen in IW32

Hi Experts,
I have a very strange problem. I am enhancing the txn IW32. I have the screen exit where in I have added fields in the enhancment tab. Now, i have a situation where in i have three radio buttons and certain fields. On selecting one of the three radio buttons, some fields should be hidden. FOr this, i assigned FCODE to the radio buttons. But when the PAI of the screen is called after selecting the radio button, the control does not go back to PBO and i get an error saying "Requsting function PLP (my fcode) is not available here". THis error comes even for fcode of the push button i have created.
I guess this has somthing to do with using fcode in screen exits. Pls help as this is an urgent requirement.
Points shall be awarded for helpful answers.

Enahncements for free goods

Hi Experts
We have a requirement of having free goods based on a spend level say 50 pounds get A,B or C free of the same value from a campaign. We have carried out an enhancement using Z-Table. Is there any other (better) way of handling this requirement in CRM 2007 without z-tables?

The only other way i see to stop is to tick / activate complete delivery indicator in Sales Order and use incompletion procedure or make this field as mandatory in customer master but in the second case it will be applicable for all orders for customer .

New upgraded SSD drive doesn't appear in MAC OS X Utilties

I upgraded my 128 SSD to 512 SSD but when I try to stall my saved profile form Time Machined back up location, the HD is not shown as an option! As how the new SSD can be formated?

I also tried to run it through Console but got the same message "10.5 with FileVault is not supported". What does that mean? I thought all Mac OS since Leopard came with File Vault.
I also turned File Vault off, restarted and tried one more time. Again, nothing.

Improvement of Period-End Closing Utiltity

Hello.
Currently I've been trying to test and review SAP 8.8 Preview version.
The reason I create this message is that I hope There will be some improvement of Period-End Closing functionality.
in the case of Account Segmentation, Financial Reporting of B1 allows us to select account segement easily. so this can help us to apply IFRS reporting.
however, We also need to include this funtionality for Period-End Closing.
It is very simple functionality but It is very important for ERP Market in South Korea. Because currently many local ERP Vendors enhanced their IFRS functionality. We are fighting with them desperately. SAP still doesn't give us any idea about this. That's why We have made some functionalities of IFRS using SAP B1 Account Segmentation and Add-on.
Regarding our Configuration, This Account Segmentation covers IFRS and Local GAAP.
This is the issue of SBO competitiveness applying IFRS transition period. the requirement of the functionality is very simple but this function gives me strong competitiveness in the ERP market.
Is there any chance to improve this funciton?
Scenario
1. Main Menu > Administration > Utilities > Period-End Closing
2. Click Find.
Curent Status
There's no way to select each account segmentation automatically. That is why I need to select each account segmentation manually.
My Expectation
Hopefully SBO will help customers to select accounts by each account segment like financial reporting. Then SBO will satisfy Multi-GAAP and Multi Ledger (IFRS, Local GAAP) on the transition period.

could you please provide some more detail example of the issue you described. In particular I would like to understand what is meant by "...I need to select each account segmentation manually". My understanding is that account segmentation should be selected at the begining of the use of the database before any transaction is posted.
On the other side End Year Closing provides a possibility to select accounts however the segmentation should be already selected in the setup of the company. Do you mean something like the following example:
Setup of account segmentation: account code: segment1-segment2-segment3.
Then selection in the End Year Closing functionality is:
when segment2 is selected then all accounts with segment2 are selected regardless what is in segment3. Is it something like this?

User-Exit/ Enahncement for LT03

I have a requirement like this:-
In case you have a partial picking a TO(TA Code-LT03) will also need to get the information, which Storage Unit type can be used.
The Functionallity needs to be extended for partial pickings. A partial picking is existing, when not a full pallet is picked
I need a enhancement which should determine the Storage Unit Type (SUT) based on the following logic
If storage unit type "PAL" (LTAP-LETYP) is being determined within the Transfer Order. and if LTAP-VSOLM = MLGN-LHMG1 then
LETYP = MLGN-LETY1 or if MLGN-LHMG1=9.999.999.999 then LETYP = MLGN-LETY1.
I tried with User Exit MWMTO007 and MWMTO001.
For MWMTO007, it did not trigger and for MWMTO001, data is not being changed.
Can anybody suggest any user-exit/enhancement?

First do you know when this exit gets triggered(Transaction).
If you know then inside the exit click on INCLUDE ZXLTOU10
then press enter. Put a break point there.
run the transaction. It will stuck up there.
You will get values in I_LTAP and I_LTAK.
Then write .
select
         LGNUM
         LQNUM
         MATNR
         WERKS
         CHARG
         LGTYP
         LGPLA
         PLP0S
         GESME
         VERME
         K0BER
         VBELN

Generic Data Source Enahncement

Hi All,
I have to add two field from a Z*table in source system into an existing Generic Data Source based on a functional module.

Hello Tapish,
You would have to change the extract structure to include the new fields. Also, you have to change the coding in the funtion module to extract the fields. Then replicate the datasource to the BW system.

Datasource Enahncement - What is the case when i am not req to do USER Exit

Experts,
Can someone explain me what is/are the cases when i do not require to code in the user exit to populate the enhanced field?
I see for some datasource the enhanced values are populated automatically.

Hi Hari,
In some cases we do not need to write any code .
Whenever we need to enhance our datasource we first check in LBWE if the required filed is available in the pool .
If it is available in pool we simply transfer it to extract structure and in this case we do not write wny code.
The second case is when we append our extractiion structure because the required field is not abailabl ein the pool.
In this case we need to write code to populate the field.

I am working one one enhance ment , where 2 feilds have been added to the data source and counter infoobject also been created in BW.
Now the problem , one another fields lenth has been changes in R/3 from 14 to 15 . and so i have to also change the lenth of counter info-object from 14 to 15 .
When i do so , it's been asking me to delete the data from ODS , as this infoobject has been used there .
could you please let me know , how can i do it with out deleting data , because when i transport thie things in productioj , it will also ask me to delte the data in prdouction ,.
I do not want to delete huge data in prod , but also want to change the lenth of object frm 14- to 15 .
Is it possible ?

Using IMP utiltity to import EUL

Hi,
I have created a tool that imports my EUL to schemas dynamically/automatically for non-discoverer user so that they don't need to deal with discoverer admin themselves.
I have created a dump file of my EUL by using the oracle EXP utility and am on am importing the EUL dump file using IMP utility. I am encountering "ORA-00942: table or view does not exist" for all my folders with this process even if all the tables exist in that schema. This is fixed only after I go to discoverer admin - folder properties - Object and choose the table again.
Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to make the import successful without using Discoverer Admin's FILE-IMPORT?

Hi,
Can you list the EXP and IMP command syntax that you are using?
Also, have you thought of using the Discoverer Administrator command line utility for exporting and importing (if you do not want to use the Discoverer Administrator user interface)?
Make the value of the owner property for each folder blank and then perform export and import. You should not get the error (provided all the tables on which the folders are based exist in the target schema.)

Utilties for my printer won't pop up

I have an HP Photosmart 7550. My problem appeared after I tried to fix a problem with jobs in my queue disappearing. I was using any old driver so I upgraded to the latest driver. Now my problem is when I click Utilites in the Printer Center, I can see an HP icon start to pop up in my dock but it immediately shuts down. I am unable to check my ink levels. I have reinstalled and nothing works. I tried calling HP but they referred me here. Any suggests?

HP installers are notorious.
In order to reinstall any HP driver, delete the Library/Printers/hp folder, then reinstall, then repair permissions (Disk Utility). Now ADD the printer and try printing and the utility.

Wrap utiltity

How and from where can I extract the "wrap utility"?

The wrap utility should be included when you install the server software. It is located in the $ORACLE_HOME/bin directory. If you are attempting to use it from a client installation, there is a note on Metalink stating that it is missing from the 9.2.0.x/10.1.0.x installations. You can copy the wrap utility from a server installation on the same platform.

Repairing start up disk from within disk utiltity no longer an option

When I first upgraded to 10.4, I could repair the startup volume from within disk utility, now, that button is greyed out and no longer an option!
Any thoughts?

Methinks you are mistaken. You could not verify or repair the boot volume using Disk Utiltiy prior to 10.4.3. In 10.4.3 and later, you can verify it, but need to enable journaling. See <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302672> for details.

APO in Utilties

This is a very broad question. But still I would like to have all valuable insights.
1) Is APO ever used in Utilities Industry i.e. Gas/Water/Electricity Domain
2) If yes, then which functionality of APO is suitable?
3) Are there any practical examples of use of APO in Utilities; - to be precise in Transmission & Distribution arena?

After going through Pankaj and Ken's replies I did a bit of Google search on Utilities industry business requirements. The search results plus based on my earlier brief industry experience in Captive Cogeneration Power Plant engineering here are few points I could come up with.
For this discussion I am just considering conventional (coal or gas-based) Power Plants. These plants being capital intensive ideally need to run at their peak capacity (Plant Load Factor). So most power plants do not look at the demand but keep on generating at max PLF. In case there are multiple units (turbines ) at a power generation plant then depending on the load (customer demand) the decision would be to shut down one unit (turbine). However depending on the type of fuel that can be an inefficient operation. For example for a coal-based plant the shut-down and subsequent start-up time is farily high (measured in 8 hour shifts). On the other hand for liquid or gas fuel based plants (like oil, natural gas, naptha) the shut-down to start-up operation is quite fast (measured in half hours).
Whatever is the case demand management is important for utilities industry but not in terms of day-to-day planning for generation. It's either long-term planning (decision to shut down a unit for preventive maintenance etc.) or very short-term planning (sudden peaking of load due to another power plant trip in the grid etc.)
So really Production Planning or Demand Planning module is not a good fit.
On the other hand - apart from generation, transmission and distribution is other area. Here again as far as my knowledge goes, in developed countries there are huge inter-connected grids with control centers which act as brokers between generation (suppliers) and distribution (consumers) companies. These centres are quite specialised with power trading (matching of demand and supply) carried out in at least 15 minute intervals (if not less). Such a granular supply demand matching process depends on specialised automated optimization solutions.
While there are APO functionalities (potentially CTM) which can carry out such Demand Supply Matching, I do not think they are good anough to plan in quch a quick-changing scenario. For example if the CTM run has to be done in every 15 minutes with a different CTM profile (since master data like plants, capacities) then the results and interpretation of it will not leave much time.
But there is one area - Service Parts Planning where there can be a potential use of APO. There are a number of parts requiring servicing at specified intervals (preventive maintenance) or just inventory in case of failure both in generation (like boiler pump bearing, gaskets, piping etc.) and transmission & distribution (transformers?, wires, towers, switch gears). In these cases the business requirement would be to forecast the service parts requirement, decide on the optimal service parts inventory and its location. Service Parts Planning module of APO can definitely help in that.
Well that's my 2 cents on this issue. No doubt its an interesting and stimulating discussion and any feedback will be much appreciated.
