Encode Failed

Yes, the infamous ENCODE FAILED message.
I've been having problems right along trying to use Dynamic Link to export from Premiere Pro CS6 to Encore CS6. So I started exporting the project first and then importing the resulting file into Encore as a timeline, which has mostly worked.
So far, so good. But now I have made the switch from SD video to HD (ACVHD; 60i), and am trying to burn a DVD of my first HD project. I exported the Premiere project as an MPEG2, then imported the file in Encore as a timeline. Then I got the "Encode Failed" message, and I have no idea how to proceed.
My computer: Acer Aspire laptop, quadcore, 64-bit. There is plenty of empty space on the hard drive for the Encore project.
Premiere Pro output settings used to encode the MPEG: NTSC; 1280x720; 29.97fps; Quality 5.0; De-Interlaced; VBR; 2 pass; min 4.00; Target 10.00; Max 18.50 Mbps; MPEG; 384 Kbps; 16 bit; Stereo
Source settings: 1920x1080 (1.0); 29.97 fps; upper; 48000 Khz; Stereo
The resulting MPEG filesize is about 4.5GB.
Encore project settings:
Auth Mode: DVD
TV Standard: NTSC
Transcode Settings: Codec MPEG-2; 720x480; Frame Rate 29.97; Lower  Field First; Dolby Digital; Max A/V Bitrate 7.0Mbps.
Am I missing something obvious? I'm not experienced with HD, or really all that much with Encore. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thank you.

There were 2 files...a .m2v and a .wav.
That is correct.
the .wav said untranscoded.
That is correct. Most users want a dolby (ac3) file, and that is why Encore wants to transcode it. In earlier versions, the only free dolby encoder was in Encore. You can encode to ac3 in Premiere, but it is not an issue.
I tried to transcode the .wav, but got an encode failed message.
That is instructive and points to the audio in Premiere/source as the issue. Do you have any (even one frame long) gaps in the audio?
I then tried to build the DVD, and again got the encode failed message.
All this means, since Encore will transcode any untranscoded assets before the rest of the build, is that the wav was not transcoded.
When you export from Premiere now, you can do an audio only export, wav or ac3. As long as you don't change the length of the audio. If you do, I'd export it all again.

  • Exporting in Adobe Media Encoder fails in CS4 after CS3 is removed.

There's an issue with Adobe Media Encoder in CS4 where encoding will fail after CS3 is uninstalled.
If you never had CS3 installed on your machine - no problem.
If you never had CS3 and CS4 installed at the same time - no problem.
If you had CS3 and CS4 installed concurrently, then uninstalled CS3 - Houston, you have a problem.
You will need to uninstall CS4 and then reinstall CS4.
    The error message is:
    Encoding Failed
Could not read from the source. Please check if it has moved or been deleted.
One more thing I forgot to mention, this is a Win-only issue.

    >Does anyone understand this?
    Simple:
    1. Open a Windows Explorer window and navigate to the folder that contains "dynamiclinkmanager.exe"
    2. Open a
second Windows Explorer window and navigate to the folder that contains "Premiere.exe"
    3. Arrange the windows side by side.
    4. Right-click on "Premiere.exe" and drag to the first explorer window, targeting between the files so as to avoid any specific file.
    5. Release the right-hand mouse button.
    6. Select "create shortcut here" from the pop-up menu.
    Cheers

  • Quicktime encoding using x264 encoder failing in AME 6.0.2.81 and Mac OS 10.8.2

I'm trying to encode an x264 codec Quicktime using AME 6.0.2.81 and Mac OS 10.8.2. I also tried it with two versions of the x264 encoder which I downloaded from here: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/24173/x264encoder
This encoder works 100% fine and better than the h264 encoder when using Apple Compressor and Apple QT Pro V7. I've been however trying to transition all of my video encodes to AME due to a number of reasons: dynamic link to AE, Premiere and the interface to name a few.
Everytime I start an encode it gives me an error and I hear that blasted sheep. lol. This is what the log displays, which is frankly probably no help to anyone.
    - Encoding Time: 00:00:00
    01/13/2013 04:48:10 PM : Encoding Failed
    Export Error
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error.
I've also tried to specify the bitrate and have had no luck. Whether I specify the bitrate or not, I still get the error. The source video has been PNG sequences and ProRes movies at 1920x1080, 29.97fps. Both result in the same unknown error.
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

I know this is pretty old now, but I thought I'd add a reply for those who are having this issue. I just had AME CC 2014 fail on me today, and this is the FIRST thing I've ever tried to render with it. I'm using a TGA sequence and exporting to an X264 codec Quicktime MOV file at 720p. I restarted a few times, repaired permissions etc. and nothing worked except for the following.
    I went to:
    Library/Preferences/Adobe/Adobe Media Encoder/8.0/
I deleted the entire 8.0 folder (or you could delete whatever version you are having problems with). I then restarted AME and the preferences were recreated and I could successfully use the x264 codec again. Hope this helps someone.

  • Why does Adobe Media Encoder fail to export Quicktime Files?

I'm using Adobe Media Encoder CC 2014 on a Windows 7 Pro 64 bit PC.
While exporting the Quicktime variant of H.264 for ATSC television broadcast files, Adobe Media Encoder fails.  Non-Quicktime H.264's render correctly, but some television stations require quicktime.
Troubleshooting reveals the problem only occurs when attempting to make a 1920x1080 H.264 QuickTime file.
Using the same original file (1920x1080), Adobe Media Encoder WILL export a 720x480/486 H.264 MOV file.
More interesting still, it will ALSO export at 1280x720.
Testing this information to it's limits, I found that the cutoff for a successful render is between a frame size of 1610x906 and 1609x905.
Useless, random sizes, I know... but that's the breaking point for Adobe Media Encoder CS6 (6.0.3.1 to be precise) and H.264 Quicktime files.

I'm trying to make a file with the extension ".MOV" using AME's "HD 1080i 29.97, H.264, AAC 48kHz" preset.  AME fails every time with the following message:
    "Encoding Failed
    Export Error
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error."
Any other file extension (MP4, M4V, etc.) renders fine.  The issue seems only to happen when attempting to make an MOV file.  It doesn't seem to matter whether I use AME's built-in preset, or customize my own render settings--the problem always happens with any MOV larger than the size I mentioned above.
All of this used to work just fine on the same machine 2 years back with Adobe CS5, previous version of windows and QuicTime.  I've been all through the Adobe and Windows possibilities, so I'm grabbing at straws here with QuickTime maybe having something to do with it.
    Interesting.
Would you happen to know if Adobe has made any changes to its manner of muxing long-address MPEG-4 AVC data to the MOV file container? Since the MP4 and M4V files encode properly, have you tried opening these files in a media player and simply using the "Save As..." option to move the date to an MOV file container without transcoding audio or video data? I.e., is there any obvious relationship between the size of the MOV file encode (less than/greater than 4 GB) as a function of the resolution "break point" previously discovered?

  • Error compiling movie - unknown error - encoding failed

I am running a 2.40 GHz Quad Core with 8GB RAM
I have a deadline on a video project in Premiere Pro CS4 with 4 video timelines and 8 audio timelines with many transitions and key frames with hours on two sequences of work completed and ready to export to an AVI file and burn a DVD.  The 30 minute sequence with only 3 timelines converted to AVI file okay.  The larger sequence with more timelines, keyframes, etc. will not export through Adobe Media Encoder for a Microsoft AVI file or an Uncompressed AVI file - getting the above error message each time.  Getting same errors when exporting a dynamic link to Encore to burn a DVD.
The sequence acted funny when I loaded the fourth video timeline so I deleted it and waiting untill the completion of the sequence to add any of that fourth timeline to that sequence and I did not even try to load the fourth timeline that I wanted to add...

I have been going back & forth with Adobe Support with troubleshooting advice.  I am running a 2.40 GHz Quad Core, 8GB RAM - had to upgrade to Windows Vista 64-bit for computer to recognize more than 2GB RAM, had to purchase Premiere Production Premium CS4 because Adobe no longer supported Premiere Pro 2.0 & Adobe does not support Windows XP-64 bit (so Windows Vista was pushed down my throat...)  I have followed the Adobe instructions to Optimize Windows Vista for Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, I have uninstalled and re-installed the full program more than once.  I have defragmented my computer, I have performed the disk cleanup and deleted all temporary files, etc. to make sure my computer is running optimally.
I have read the other Adobe threads that talk about CS3 & earlier similar error messages, but have found nothing with this particular message.  I have deleted the fourth timeline off of the video and tried to see if that would make it work, but it did not.
Does ANYBODY have any suggestions on how I can further trouble shoot to get this project out or know of a way that I can export this project to another program to get an AVI file and a DVD burned with custom menus...

I am using a 1TB Hard drive with 300 GB free space.  Yes, I always have to delete projects off to make room for new projects.  I have 3 750GB hard drives in my computer in addition to the main C drive that I am using.  Once a project is completed and a client is satisfied, I move the final AVI file off to one of the auxillary drives and delete the entire project from the C drive.  Then I defragment, delete temp files, disk cleanup, you name it to get the drive ready to use for the next project.  I have followed the Adobe protocol for all of this as well as my computer vendor.  I got rid of 95 GB of temp stuff several days ago with the disk cleanup and another 45 GB after deleting another project off my computer...  so looks like I am doing these things..please advise if you know of anything else.
In the meantime, I am going to try to export to the MPEG2 -DVD export to see if this will work.  I did get an uncompressed file of 31 GB created which errored out at 24:24 minutes into the project and the AVI will not play so it is worthless so I am going to delete it.  I went to the timeline at 24.24 minutes and there is nothing unusual about that portion of the clip. This is the largest and most tedious timelines of the project because it is stacked 3 video timelines high with just a a few pieces of the 4th timeline in the project.  24:24 on the timeline is just another keyframe of moving the keyframes up and down to show which video camera version I want visible in that portion of the video - fading in and out of the project with the key frames...
I will let you know if I can get an MPEG2 file.  Will this be a good enough quality to put on a DVD.  This is a standard NTSC 4:3 format video...

Hello, this is terrible problem, which i found in CS 6 softwares ...
solution i found only working, is uninstall and reinstall full package.. but it is not all,
you need to do BRAND NEW admin account in windows, and install it there.
that means, i could not export after repair from encoder in my original account never more (!!)   .. this is really terrible way how to repair this issue, because :
1.by reinstalling of software, client WASTE HIS TIME
2.by necessity to begin work in another windows profile you again WASTE YOUR TIME because of learning and migrating all other profile modifications, which i see really unaccpetable. Adobe means, this solution of repair is ok, and they did not do till today any steps of creating some "clever" solution.
I ask everybody, who will meet this issue in future, guys, please, complain about this situation, give "BUG Report" to them, and write "feature request" to them , in the way of creating some repair tool, which check actual  "broken" connections between encoder and premiere, which refuses to "take material" from it and encode, and REPAIR it automatically..
I am not IT, but ..does it seems so hard to create this ? Adobe IT developers should know their systems, and should create such utility tool really easy.
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. i export anything by button "queue" from premiere to Encoder
    2. Encoder will start encoding
    3. Encoder does not show the window of media encoding (down left )
    Results: sound of sheep occur,
in encoding error file is this reason of canceling the encoding :
    01/02/2014 10:10:48 AM : Encoding Failed
Could not read from the source. Please check if it has moved or been deleted.
History of this problem and detailed description, HOW i did "repair" this. With wasting of app 2,5 days of my working time :
    1. after repairing "error 5" problem , i solved it by reinstalling the suite from the new admin user profile (profile B) .
I continued my work on my normal working windows profile . (profile A)
Every cooperation (AE+Pr, export media via "queue" to Encoder) was working fine . . .
    2. suddenly it stop working (without knowing any possible reason - i did not do installations )
and showed in error export log file :
"Could not read from the source. Please check if it has moved or been deleted."
    3.repair via procedure(procedure "a"):
i did this procedure on the profile B (profile from last time installation of repairing problem error 5)
    I did these steps :
    a-uninstall master coll suite
b-i used Adobe cleaner tool (remove ALL)
    c-removed raw directories in locations
    •C:\Program Files\Adobe
    •C:\Program Files(x86)\Adobe
    •C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe
    •C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Adobe
    •C:\ProgramData\Adobe
d-removed these links from registry file
    •HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe
    •HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe
    •HKEY_LOCAL_MACH INE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe
    •HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software\Wow6432Node\Adobe
    e-restarted the PC
f- newly installed the Master Coll CS6
    g-update the software
result of repair of "3" : problem still exists
4.Ok i find out after coordination with support, it should have been created  ANOTHER NEW admin account.
4a:so i did the same procedure (uninstalling) in profile B
4b: and then i created brand new admin profile (profile C)for INSTALLATION of software
4c: restarted the pc (and did not updated it yet)
    result :
==exporting of any sequence/raw/AE link video material from premiere via "queue" (Encoder) (profile C) : export WORKS
==exporting of any sequence/raw/AE link video material from premiere via "queue" (Encoder) (profile B) : export WORKS
==exporting of any sequence/raw/AE link video material from premiere via "queue" (Encoder) (profile A) : export DOES NOT WORK ! ! !
(in profile A, is possible to export some raw video material in encoder which is imported to it via "drag and drop)
problem i see:, i have my basic profile A, which i am interested to work, because of all my directory modifications are in there..
this issue should be some "broken" connections between encoder and premiere, which refuses to "take material" from it and encode.
    what i expect :
to get from Adobe some repair tool, which automatically checks these connections and repair if necessary, without necessity of founding the new profile and reinstallation of whole software.. this is madness !
what i do NOT expect from Adobe:
to get from Adobe advice of kind : you have to reinstall full software in new admin profile. sorry , we do not know the solution, because we do not know, how do behave our software.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 Export fails with Media Encoder CS4 "Encoding Failed"," Could Not Read From Source.

There has never been a history of Adobe CS3 installation on the brand new MAC Pro I am using prior to installing Master Collection CS4, despite other posts claiming that chief cause of this issue is a previous CS3, Beta or trial installations of previous versions. I simply had a straightforward installation of CS4 and have had trouble since day 1.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Master CS4 three times, two times with the action script cleaner for CS4. I tried changing Adobe Cache folder locations to alternative drives. I ran shift start many times to correct any inconsistencies and corrected for permissions using disk utilities repeatedly. All updates have been installed and I am still getting the same error when exporting my timeline to Media Encoder CS4, be it a large High Definition project or a small one consisting of few stills.
No matter what presets I chose, the job appears as one of the items in the render qeuee of Media Encoder CS4 and sits there with the status WAITING until i hit Start Queue. When I do, it still says WAITING under Status and at the bottom corner of the window it reads : Loading "project name.prproj" and after an average of about 6 minutes, a yellow caution sign appears. No render whatsoever takes place. When I click on the yellow caution sign, it reads a log of all errors in connection with each job, including the ones that have gone before it. Here is one:

Please any gurus out there know how to troubleshoot this damn thing on Mac, I really appreciate it. I have not yet encountered any posts of Mac owners with no previous CS3 installation having this issue. I am in the middle of 3 projects with tight deadlines and need your urgent help. THANK YOU!

    Hello There,
I resolved the issue through a simple process of elimination. So simple in fact I wonder how I missed it. Since there has been no history of prior CS3 installation on this machine and every conceivable trick was applied to resolve the problem (refer to my original post earlier in the thread) ending in frustration, the problem had to reside in a factor or series of factors that were only present in this machine. Of the two remaining causes different in compare to other machines, I had to look into the possibility of any hardware and/or software conflicts. After all, this very same installation works perfectly fine on my colleague's Apple Macbook Pro and several Windows machines.
It turns out that I had installed Pro Tools on this machine that comes with all kinds of optional plug-ins in the so called ignition pack. One of these optional plug-ins is called IZOTOPE (three varieties include Spectron, Trash and another one that escapes my mind). They were all lite version licenses that would automatically pop up on their own when you would start a program where they had been residing. One such program where an association existed was indeed the Premiere. An annoying dialogue box directing you to buy the full version when you would start the premiere would refuse to go away. Sometimes it would even start on its own culminating in a a permanent dialogue box.
The cause of the problem was right before my eyes and I had overlooked it. Once uninstalled using IZOTOPE clean uninstaller on step 4, the problem was resolved. Projects are now loading very fast into the AME and encoding begins in earnest. I have never had any issues ever since.
Long story short, if you have any plug-ins specially the ones that are loading upon the start of any program or the ones that reside inside the premiere or the ones that start on their own independently, they could be one of the highly probable causes of this error. I have seen other similar posts complaining of plug in folders inside premiere that needed to be moved to resolve the issue for instance the ones that needed to be moved to AE folders. If you are a plug-in admirer, I would suggest to look into them seriously.
On the side note, many combination and causes may lead to the same error. I am not claiming that this is the solution for everyone.
It must also be noted that I applied the trick of creating a shortcut of Premiere (and naming it exactly as such) and dropped it into the Adobe Dynamic LInk folder (even though this was suggested for windows)and have changed the adobe Cache locations to an alternative folder on a separate drive. I haven't been able to establish conclusively if the latter steps are also essential in fixing the error on MAC but I can confirm that since the latter steps were taken before the uninstalling of Izotope plug-ins and i still had issues, probably uninstalling those plug ins or finding a way to move them to a place where they don't interfere (if you absolutely need to keep them) is the one essential step that solved the problem.
    Hope this helps.

  • Media Encoder - encoding failed - could not read from the source

Using PPCC, AME queued jobs all fail with the message "Encoding failed. Could not read from the source".
But doing a simple export works perfectly.

I recall quite a few other threads about this.  Do a forum search.

  • Encoding failed in "file name" with error: -43

    Hi!
I've tried everything but still, after about 20 hours of encoding DVD Studio Pro just stoppes, saying "encoding failed in "file name" with error: -43". The movie is in DV PAL format and made in Final Cut Pro version 5. I'm using DVD Studio Pro 4.0. The movie is about 1 hour and 30 minutes long and I'm trying to put it on a double layer DVD. I've tried to shorten it (it was nearly 2 hours before), but that didn't help. I also tried to shorten it even more and put it on a single layer DVD, but still the same message.
So if somebody has any idea of how I can solve this problem, please let me know as soon as possible!
    Thank you!

Error -43 means "File not found." If you are compressing from a reference movie, make sure that all referenced movie clips are present on the disk and that permission settings are not preventing DVD Studio Pro from accessing them.
Error -1309 means "Out of bounds." This means that the source file is pretending to be bigger than it actually is.
So it sounds like there are issues with your source movie.
P.S. Compressor has a much better MPEG-2 encoder and I would recommend using that instead.

  • Encode Failed message during transcode attempts

    Hey guys,
I've got a 45 minute video shot at 1920x1080i on a Everio GZ-HD7-B camera that's due for a review in only a couple of days. I've got the project to a near-final draft in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, and have been working on authoring a DVD in Adobe Encore CS4.
Just a quick note, I'm on a home-built PC with an Intel Core 2 Quad at 2.6 ish GHz with 6GB of memory, 2 hard drives with a combined total of 2TB. On the HD that I'm saving my project in and exporting to I have a little over 100GB in space left.
Now, as far as I can tell I've got the menus (imported from .psd files created in Adobe Photoshop CS4) set up correctly and the flowchart is complete, but when I go to transcode the project and export the project to a [widescreen] DVD image, or even if I select the imported (using Adobe Dynamic Link) sequence and hit "Transcode Now..." I get an error message saying "Encode failed". Thie comes up only seconds after hitting transcode. I've tried changing the encode settings, but nothing changes (perhaps with the exception of one setting that delays the 'encode failed' message by about 15 seconds).
If I try to transcode one of my audio tracks I also get the message "Could not create image buffer", and hitting 'ok' only bring up the same error message again.
Is there anything I'm doing wrong? Can I get Encore to play nice? If I want to bypass using the adobe dynamic link feature and export from Premiere Pro, what settings should I use to preserve image quality, allow me to make the disc, and perhaps even to preserve the chapter locations?
Thanks, and if any more information will help resolve this error please let me know. Thanks!

    Hey guys,
Quick update: I've tried exporting from Premiere Pro using the media encoder into an MPEG-II DVD [Widescreen] format. I then imported the Video and Audio output files as a new timeline in Encore. Transcoding the audio was successful, but when I try to build the DVD image I get the same "Encode Failed" message.
Oh and I don't have internet on my editing computer.
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    W

  • Video encoding failed, audio encoding successful, both worked before

I have an .AVI that was provided by a studio.  I used this .AVI in the past (February-ish) to create a .FLV using Media Encoder with no issues.  I have to add a section to the original .AVI now.  When i import the video to the new project, the preview monitor does not show video, but the audio can be heard.  When trying to export as an .FLV it errors out and just says "Encoding Failed: Unknown Error".
I can export the audio fine, but the video causes the error (when separated).  Thinking it was a corrupt file, I obtained original copies from the studio and tried again with no success.

  • Encode failed - No problems in Check Project

Encode failed - no problems shown in Check Project. Is there a way to post screen shots of the various information required for other users to have in order to comment meaningfully on what might the various problems might be? I have a document in which I have saved various screen shots of the progress up to the Encode Failure. I also have other projects that have transcoded successfully. Any help is appreciated. This is a new avenue for me, so some protocols may be lacking, but I catch on eventually.

  • Encoding Failed

I'm looking for a solution to make my AME CS5 work. I add my movies, click start and after 15 seconds it stops and the alert icon shows under Status. I click on it and I get the log:
    - Source File: C:\Users\Rubens\Videos\Isnt she lovely.wmv
    - Output File: C:\Users\Rubens\Videos\Isnt she lovely1.f4v
    - Preset Used: F4V - Web Medium (Flash 9.0.r115 and Higher)
    - Video: 360x264, Same as source fps, Progressive
    - Audio: AAC, 96 kbps, 44.1 kHz, Stereo
    - Bitrate: VBR, 1 Pass, Target 0.40 Mbps, Max 0.60 Mbps
    - Encoding Time: 00:00:00
    11/24/2010 11:04:56 PM : Encoding Failed
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error.
I hope I can solve this soon.

    If I understand your post:
    a. More than one project fails with FLV/F4V or h.264 and a variety of presets
    b. This project fails with other formats (avi, mov, etc)
    c. There are no other error codes or messages
Do any of your projects encode?
If you create new simple 1-clip project from scratch, can you get it to encode?
    Is this a new problem?
Are you running the latest PP/AME?
Can you run AME stand-alone, load the avi and try to encode directly from AME's UI (bypassing PP completely)?
If the files are small (<1GB), can you upload them so that folks could try your project?

  • Encoding failed: unknown error in CS4 Windows 7

I'm getting the following error near the end of an Adobe Premiere CS4 sequence that I'm trying to encode:
    - Source File: X:\scripts\rubyconf2009\premiere\19-nov-2009-14-10-east-meets-west-yuki-sonoda.prproj
    - Output File: X:\scripts\rubyconf2009\premiere\19-nov-2009-14-10-east-meets-west-yuki-sonoda-large.mp4
    - Preset Used: Custom
    - Video: NTSC, 1280x720, 29.97 [fps], Progressive
    - Audio: AAC, 64 [kbps], 48 kHz, Mono
    - Bitrate: VBR, 1 Pass, Target 0,50, Max 1,00 [Mbps]
    - Encoding Time: 01:03:33
    25.01.2010 13:45:17 : Encoding Failed
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error.
I'm really not sure what the problem is. Everything seems fine in all my other movies but something in this one (and one other one) seem to be causing these failures. Any advice you could give would be really appreciated.

What are the source files in this (and the other offending) Project? Do they match those Sequence/Project Presets?
Does the Audio in these source files differ in any way?
What is different about this/these Project(s), from the others?
Often, Encoding will fail because of gaps in the Video. However, the error message is usually "Failure to Return Frame."
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • CS5 Adobe Media Encoder: Encode failed because the source duration is nil.

I've been running Production Premium on my new Windows 7 64bit, 6GB i7 system for several weeks now and haven't had any issues exporting to the Media Encoder.
I installed the trial version of Dreamweaver without any of the add-on's as I thought they might mess up my licensed installation.
Every attempt to export -> media -> queue get's the following error in AMEEncodingErrorLog.txt
    - Source File: C:\Users\Rob\AppData\Local\Temp\someproject.prproj
    - Output File: C:\Users\Rob\Videos\someproject.mov
    - Preset Used: Custom
    - Video:

    - Encoding Time: 00:00:00
    7/8/2010 10:14:34 AM : Encoding Failed
Encode failed because the source duration is nil.
Doing the export directly from PP works without error, but I don't want to wait for each export to complete.
Any ideas other than reinstall PP?
    TIA

I noticed that the range selector triangles were right next to each other.
Changed the Source Range: Work Area
Not sure why the default is set for a zero range. It doesn't remember my last setting when I selected the Entire Sequence.
