Encoded Assets Not Saved?

My project is one of those which takes exceptionally long to encode. It contains two movies, one with chapters. Six theme menus.
I'm using my Dual 2.7 machine.
After a successful burn, I thought perhaps that subsequent burns would be faster, since the assets had been encoded already during the first burn.
But no, in order to burn another DVD, iDVD begins the entire encoding process all over again. Aren't the encoded versions saved anywhere?
Interestingly, in iDVDs Customize > Status menu, one of the two movies (the one without chapters, and the smaller of the two) is shown as "Done", while the other, larger movie (with chapters) just has a a grey bar after it.
This project takes over an hour to process the menus alone and overnight to do the rest, so this is quite the inconvenience.
Yes, I know that burning to a Disk Image and burning through Disk Utility is an easy way to make multiple copies, BUT, this project requires a dual layer disk, and when creating a Disk Image, iDVD pops up a warning dialog stating that dual layer DVDs burned from an image may not play well on some players. I would prefer to not run the risk that the DVDs may not play on some machines, since we are distributing them to a large group of people.
I own Toast 7 and can easily copy the DVD I already burned, but it strikes me as strange that I need a third-part application to be able to do what I'm trying to do.
So my question is: Is my experience typical?
Does iDVD actually NOT make a copy of the encoded assets?
Why does one movie show up as "Done" and the other not?
Thank you to any who can shed some light!
Jeff

There are two movies on the DVD... one is about 2hrs15min or so, the other is about 27 minutes. The longer of the two never shows "Done" status. The other does. This after one successful burn.
When I attempt another burn, it starts all over by encoding the menus first. When I saw that it was going through the encoding process I quit the program because I didn't want to wait 12 or 14 hours for it to finish again, I knew I could simply burn a copy of the first disk using Toast, so that's what I've been doing, but I can't help but think making a copy might be more prone to errors than burning direct from iDVD.
Thanks for your interest!

  • MP3 Encoder Import  Bitrate is not saved by ITunes

    Hi!
The importing bit rate for the MP3 Encoder is not saved by ITunes.
This is obviously a bug only present in combination with special software / hardware, since several people have already have posted this problem on this forum.
    I am running
    - ITunes 6.0.1.3
    - Windows XP Home Edition SP2
    on a
    HP Pavilion zd8000.
What I need to know is where these settings are stored, so that I can edit them directly to resolve the problem.
If this is not possible, how can I debug to find out what is going on?
I have reinstalled several times, and the system is not behaving consistently. I have played with different versions of ITunes. I have removed all ITunes entries in the registry between installations. I have succeeded in solving the problem, but it has reoccured.
    Please advice.
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Vidar
    email: [email protected]

    I solved the problem.
ITunes preferences are stored in a hidden directory here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Programdata\Apple Computer\ITunes\iTunes.pref
(Programdata might be called something else in the English version of XP, I have the Norwegian version...)
    Close ITunes.
Open this file in a text editor that can handle binary files, for example Textpad (www.textpad.com).
Remove the two lines starting with keys
    iTunes.exe:MP3 Encoder:Custom
    iTunes.exe:MP3 Encoder
Start ITunes. Set your desired import bitrate.
It should now be saved - and be picked up again next time you open your preferences.
Actually it was saved all the time, but something corrupts this file disabling ITunes from picking up the correct mp3 encoder settings. I guess the 160kb/s setting is the default showing up when no settings are present.
Hope this works for others having this problem as well!

  • Photoshop not saving pngs properly

My team and I have been having issues with generate image assets not saving png files correctly. Photoshop has been saving them with the png extension, but the file has a white background like a jpg. Has there been in recent updates that may be causing this? Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

I think the default with Generator is 24 bit, but I tried an 8 bit one and I was able to get transparency.  Can you post a screen shot of you layer pallet to see what you've got?  Here's a sample with a layer forcing an 8 bit png and the result - pretty bad quality - png 24 is much better!

  • Assets keeps "unlinking" during encoding  Building Not Successful

This keeps happening ever since I upgraded to leopard. My assets go offline in the middle of the build. They are not deleted or anything of the sort. They just become unattached to the file. When I try to relink it doesnt do anything. I have to delete the asset form the track and or menus and relink then drop it in the track and attach to the buttons. its a headache HELP!!!

Are you encoding assets otuside of DVD SP first and bringing them in? Are any of these assets reference movies? Are the assets on internal or external drives? Which version of DVD SP are you using? Any more details? Did you do a clean install of the OS? Did you take any steps to try to fix things like deleting prefs?
Also do you have Tiger around or a clone of your Tiger drive? Does it build when booting off that?
Sorry for the questions, but sometimes some more details point to where issues may be.

  • Where are my encoded assets going?

I created a DVD in iDVD 7.1.2 and after the disc burned, I saved an archive file. I checked to "keep encoded assets" with the archive file. However, when I open up the archived project file, I still have to encode the assets again. Everything works fine, but I have 4 videos on the disc and am trying to just change one and not have to re-encode the other 3 videos as well.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    Jamie

The default location is in the Pictures/Screenshot folder.  You can change the location to wherever you'd like with a command in the Terminal application.  These websites describes how:
Change the Screen Shot Save File Location in Mac OS X
Quickly Change OS X's Default Screenshot Format and and location.
Changing the Screenshot Capture Location - Mac|Life
If you want to change the format of the screenshot from the default .png to some other like jpeg  the second link describes that.

  • IDVD crashing upon encoding assets

    Hi,
I have scanned all sorts of forums and have not been able to find the answer needed to fix the following problem. During burning a DVD, iDVD crashes when it encodes assets.
I have 50GB left on my HD, did permissions repair, rebooting computer, changing quality settings, deleted the iDVD plist file and nothing works. I have tried burning to DMG, and Video_TS file. Same goes. Some of my assets on the film are HD, but this never stopped it from burning before.
Can anyone give me any advice or share a solution to this problem?
    Thanks,
    M

    Hi Bengt,
You bring up a good point. The project was shot in XDCAM 25fps. After postproduction, the file became APRHQ. Due to the weight of the file on export (about 5 GB), I decided to export it through Quicktime conversion as NTSC SD Widescreen. The video weighed about 1.06 GB, so I decided to use it.
I looked at when it quit during the encoding process (during encoding another asset), so I saved that as a last reserve option.
The DVD burned with the original APRHQ file, but now the question: Why would it not accept the QT converted SD export?
    Best,
    M

  • Why SQL queries are not saving in agentry editor for first publish?

    Hello Experts,
In the process of developing an agentry application i have defined SQL steps and saved in agentry editor with out any errors .When i have published definations for first time it is displaying error 'Invalid object some where' in back end SQL log file ,when i have seen in editor some times the query is not saved, some times even it is defined then also the same  error. So i have copied the steps and saved again. Now i have done a publish,it is working fine. This is happening only when i implement exchange mechanism(Showing error in ATE getfetch error). But with out exchange mechanism  it is working fine.Is this related to the installation of editor plig-in is not correct?. I have done preferences setting in my workspace correctly.
Help me in this regared. Thanks in advance.
    Thanks & Regard,
    Sravanthi Polu

    Sravanthi,
For your error: displaying error 'Invalid object some where' in back end SQL log file.. This is happening only when i implement exchange mechanism(Showing error in ATE getfetch error)
Two suggestions (My best suggestion is item 2 below - I think that is where you have the error)
Item 1: Are you using the right encoding? In your Eclipse Editor under the main menu Windows - Preference -> General -> Workspace. What is your Text file encoding set to? Cp1252? Try setting it to UTF-16.
There is a tutorial about this in:
https://service.sap.com/sap/bc/bsp/spn/esa_redirect/index.htm?gotocourse=X&courseid=70246375 (Enterprise Academy classes). The course is really a simple < 5 minutes discussion on different types of encoding and why they exist and how to change the Eclipse to what you wanted.  SQL is normally done in UTF-16 for 16 bit.
I am assuming that the encoding could be wrong.
Item 2: Another thing that could be wrong is how you specify the SDML (Flunky code).
In your SQL Script: Anything that has the "<<" and ">>" open and close marker is an SDML (Data Markup Language) and needs to be pre-populated before the Agentry Server submits your SQL query to the backend. In essence, this is use to populate the SQL query with predefine information like your userID or location and when the SQL gets process it will populate the script with the correct information.
So if you are not properly using the flunky (ex: <<object.address>> where address is not a key ID in a Fetch step (Check manual for usage of SDML AgentryLanguageReference_6.0.0.0.pdf) then you may get invalid object.
When you do a SQL "Fetch" Client Exchange and Server Exchange Steps, you can select a few options:
For this discussion let us talk about these 2 items below.
    1. Run Attribute: Run One Time
    or
    2. Run Attribute: Run Once Per Object.
When you select Run Once Per Object the only available Flunky or SDML commands you have are:
    object.keyPropertyName
    lastUpdate
    fetch.messageNumber
The 3 above are your only options
If you try to do something like object.property1 where property1 is part of your object properties then it will not work for Run Once Per Object.
It may work for Run One time as fetch.propertyname.
From your symptoms where you are complaining about an issue in exchange steps, your error is a typo or a misused or a misunderstanding of how fetches and SDML works (documented in page 398 or 399 of AgentryLanguageReference_6.0.0.0.pdf).
See pictures just in case you don't have access to that pdf file (The picture below simply proves what SDML options is available for your Fetch Client Exchange Step).
    Hope this helps.

  • Some settings not saved in Presets file

I'd like to setup my fme environment with preset Xml files
(and with some dirty scripting hacks, we make the app load them
    automatically).
Unfortunately, not all the Device settings are saved. There
is a tuner specific Settings tab whose settings are not saved. So
if I want to change the actual TV channel I have to use the GUI.
Other settings (like crossbar_input) are found in the XML file.
Is there a way to set entries that are not saved by the GUI
directly in the XML presets file and make fme use them?

What you're looking for is startup.xml, which will be in the
application data directory for the current user. On my Vista
machine, the path looks like this:
    Drive:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Flash Media
    Encoder\startup.xml
that's where all of the current UI settings are stored. So
you know, startup.xml is UTF-16 encoded and it needs to stay that
way, and (for some reason) there needs to be a blank line at the
    end of the file.
    Hope it helps

  • Not saved the changes to the information for the movie.

    Hi guys!
Suddenly faced with a problem: the changes are not saved in the statement made by me about the movie. I make the changes themselves, close the properties, open again and see that all the changes I've made have disappeared.
This occurs only on MAC OS X Mavericks.
If close iTunes on this computer, and open at the other with MAC OS X Mountaine Lion and try to edit the infornation movie - after closing and re-opening information about the movie is saved. Tried different movies, the result of similar: on iTunes MAC OS X Mavericks are not stored on MAC OS X Mountaine Lion - everything is fine.
Show you how to cure this problem?
My iTunes library is on a network hard drive WD My Book Live.
Add movies / music etc. turns on both machines. When trying to make changes in information about the movies to the library is connected to only one computer.
All available updates for both computers are set.
I reinstalled iTunes, ran a disk check on the computer.
Films are not purchased in the AppStore, but me personally encoded in a format m4v.
Folders and files in your iTunes library have the following rights:
    Daapd - read / write
    staff - read / write
    everyone - read / write
    Pls, need help. Thk Y!

No one is faced with similar? I am glad that I only have these problems

    I have tried it.
adding other encoding before the famous en-US,UTF-8 one gives warning for default lang and falling back.
I see these error when running apps from command line.
adding other encodings after that encoding doesn't show this warning but i have a suspicion that it mean that other encoding are suppressed,
i have to try it with a file with a wired but known encoding and then adding that encoding to config and testing again.
my problem is how do i find the filename encoding?(not find content encoding)
this is the file in question. can somebody tell me what is the filename encoding?
    https://www.sendspace.com/file/fwmxpc
EDIT:  my findings on this matter.
even adding all the langs to /etc/locale.gen and then using locale-gen command doesnt fix this. cause this are different issues.
this problem as a whole doesn't have a solution, cause linux unlike windows doesn't have a default inbuilt filename encoding and it all depends on your environment.
linux just treat the filename in the encoding you tell it. so it cant detect anything cause there is nothing to detect.
from its perspective filename are just binary data ready to be interpreted as wished by the user.
widows on the other hand uses UTF-16.
plz if anybody have another contradicting point ,then reply but plz dont say I have to use correct encoding. the only way to fix it is using convmv util and that requires finding the correct original encoding.
    thanks for all the replys.

  • Save point with POJO DataControl not saving model state

    Hi Guys,
    JDEV 11.1.1.6 64bit
I was able to get save points working with ADF BC (AppMod, View & Entity objects)
but when I tried to do the exact same with Pojo DataControls, I won't save
the current state of the model - meaning things are not "selected" to the
proper record when the SP is restored. I don't get any errors, it just
    shows the wrong data.
    Example:
The BTF is marked as must have transaction(tried either way), but this is Pojo, and doesn't support Trx.
    edit-emp-dept.jspx (with BTF Region)
    BTF START
STEP 1: RichTable with bindings to Pojo DataControl (value="#{bindings.allDepts.collectionModel}")
(user selects the 3 record => sales department)
STEP 2: Edit Sales Dept & on click to next step create SP
STEP 3: View Emps (Rich Table of ALL emps in that DEPT)
        STEP 4: Edit Emp
FINAL: COMMIT (save to pojo list) or CANCEL (don't save to pojo list)
    /BTF END
At STEP 1 -> STEP 2, the SP is created, and when I close the browser at STEP2, 3  or 4, and
restart, and choose SP to restore, it takes me to proper page (STEP 2)  but the wrong Department is
selected to edit (it shows "Finance" instead of "Sales") & if I hit my ADF back button, it shows
the table with "finance" selected.  In the ADF BC world it works perfectly.
I know the docs say: the ADF Model is saved, so the question is why bindings.allDepts.collectionModel
not "saved" here for Pojo DC and the ADF BC af:table value="#{bindings.DepartmentsView1.collectionModel}"
    it is "saved".
Thanks for any insight or work-around.
    Sincerely,
    Joel

    Hi,
the problem with POJO DC and other non-ADF BC models is that they don't passivate their state. In JDeveloper 12c we allow developers to extend their POJO classes with ADF lifecycle methods that allows them to save the model state themselves. Its a known issue that the transaction state cannot be saved for non-ADF BC models. I checked the bug database for bugs filed against this behavior but could not find one- I can imagine that with 12c we would have a chance to allow developers to handle passivation / activation for non-ADF BC model states. So if this is a feature you need then filing an enhancement request would make sense

  • Encoding assets gets stuck at 14% during DVD burn

I've been using DVD Studio Pro for a couple of years to create demo reels on DVD. Recently I was updating our reel and imported some new video and audio files. When I tried to burn a DVD it seemed to get stuck at 14% while encoding assets and wasn't able to complete the burn. I tried burning an older version from an older DVD Studio Pro file and it seemd to work fine. I'm just wondering what's different about this new version that's making it unable to burn a DVD. It must have something to do with the new files I imported. Is there anything I can do to fix this.
I've been using DVD Studio Pro V 2.05

Compressor is okay, better than it was before. You can also use other encoders such as bitVice, www.innobits.se and another at digigami.com Basically Compressor will do what DVD SP will do but with more control
You will not have to rebuild the reel, once you encode the assets (AC3 and m2v) just replace the items in the track, which is done in the following (also has some Compressor info)

A movie showing Compressor is also here

  • Video Assets Not Working

Hey guys, I'm trying to set a default FInal Cut video file (h.264) as an asset in a menu, but it seems the video turns blank when I simulate. Audio plays but the video is blank. When I try to burn, the program freezes when it is encoding assets. It seems this problem began after upgrading to Leopard. Below I have some step by step pictures of what I see.
Lets see who knows how to fix this problem! (Final Cut 4.5/DVD studio Pro 3)

Best way is to compress as m2v from Final Cut to Compressor or other encoder and bring the m2v in as a background, do not use H.264. Also FCP 4.5 and DVD SP 3 probably will have issues with Leopard I would guess.

  • Filename in non-english are not saved correctly

    hi
I recently (last week) installed archlinux.
I come from manjaro so I am to some extent familiar with archlinux.
now I am trying to solve some issues that have poped up in arch that there were not in manjaro( mostly because manjaro was pre-configured).
when I use jdownloader to save youtube videos the files names are displayed correctly in jdownloader but not in konsole or dolphin file manager. (they are shown as "????" characters).
this happens for Persian and Russian characters.
I thought this was jdownloader issue but this doesn't happen on my pc that has a manjaro installed on it.
and another thing that makes it weird is that if i create files in dolphin with say Persian language they are shown and treated correctly. but the ones that are created by jdownloader have this issue.
and another related symptome is that some files that I download from subtitle websites that are in zip format and have some rare European characters in them (like the French and German ones) I cant open them or extract them in dolphin file manager.
I had a similar issue like this in manajro but in manajro I used file-roller to open the files and that app would work with this files correctly.
but in archlinux even file-roller has this issue.
can somebody help me with this?
